At first I had mixed feelings about the coordinators and getting rid of them but after the last game at the Bengals and the excuse was the team had a hard time getting up for that game after the emotional loss at the Steelers. ??? That loss would not have been an elimination game if they would have taken care of business earlier in the season weeks 4-7 Raiders, Redskins (BOTH HOME GAMES). Giants and Jets. 4 game losing skid and each week "we are going to get better" I don't know about you but I never saw the improvement. This team has had a hard time finding emotion and playing with URGENCY the last few seasons.
Nothing we can do about it as fans but I sure hope someone or something lights a fire under the right peoples bottoms to get us back into the playoffs and to be able to get ready and play for a full 60 minutes for each and every game the team takes the field!!! That is on both the coaching staff and players but we heard it all week how it was going to be a pride game and how you go out to win. The way the Ravens played the Bengals game just looked pathetic!!!!PERIOD!!!

I honestly would have liked to see some of our younger guys play and see what they can do against a division rival. just to get a jump on possibly what we have in younger talent.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to Moderator 2's topic in Ravens Talk
I guess if they had a hard time getting "UP" after the loss to the Steelers I guess they should have done their job last week and earlier in the season. Today they looked like caged mice waitng to be fed to the snake.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to Moderator 2's topic in Ravens Talk
I had mixed feelings about Dean Pees but today I think that's gone. I believe Pees should be let go and we should get new coaches doing the offensive and defensive play calling next season.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to Moderator 2's topic in Ravens Talk
Tunnel vision but in all fairness he had Black and orange jerseys in his face pretty much all game long and pretty much no help from his WR's getting open down field
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to Moderator 2's topic in Ravens Talk
The bad: Did the team pack up their lockers after the Steelers loss? because it sure looked like it today.
The ugly: The Ravens made the Bengals look like a playoff caliber team today. If that was the Ravens playing for pride and not giving up WOW!!! Oz has got a lot of work to do.
Why is Elam still on the team better yet in the game. He totally whiffed on the Bengals first TD. That's 2 this year.
The possible good: Whooo-hoo maybe we get a little higher draft pick.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to JoeyFlex5's topic in Ravens Talk
That is something we should all be use to by now. The only thing I would like to see Flacco really work on is situational and pocket awareness as I mentioned in my previous post.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to JoeyFlex5's topic in Ravens Talk
O-Line depth, CB depth, lack of pass rush, before I get carried away I want everyone here to know I am a huge Flacco fan but Flacco needs to work on his situational awareness in the pocket sometimes he seems to not be aware of pressure or time in the pocket almost like he does not realize how long the O-Line is trying to block for him and he has been strip sacked quite a few times over the years. Some of that is on him some is on the O-Line protection and some is because the WR's cant get separation from the DB's so it's like a coverage sack but even some of those Flacco needs to be quicker and more decisive on his decision making. I do like Flacco a lot but I know Flacco is an average QB most of the season but the switch seems to turn on in playoff games or big games. Just like this last game against the Steelers he played very good it was other aspects of the team that lead to the loss and the Ravens being removed from the playoff picture. If the team switches OC this off season I really hope they get someone who calls games to the Ravens strength and gets with Flacco and finds out what he is most comfortable with like he seems to like an up-tempo game plan and seems like Flacco thrives in that type of fast pace game.

THANK YOU SSS for being part of the Raven family and for giving the fans some joy.

All I know is I am going to miss STEVE SMITH SR !!! As far as who steps up only time will tell but we have had this situation before and sad to say in previous years none of the drafted players ever seemed to step up with exception of T. Smith but players Oz traded for Boldin and free agents Oz signed SSS and Mason always seem to come in and perform. Whoever we get to fill the spot I hope they stay a while.

Like I said I have mixed feelings about it I do agree with the points you made. The reason I have mixed feeling is 1. Pees defense has won us a title. 2.How many times did his defense just come right back on the field after a 3 and out by the offense? Don't you think at times the defense was tired? That last point falls on the offense and offensive play calling but in Marty's case he did not have much of a chance to see what he can do for us Just a little over half a season. Yes sometimes I think I would like to see new coordinators and thats the reason I said I had mixed feeling about it.
We need some depth in the secondary and a real thumper at safety I like Weddles sure tackling but Webb at times was a liability. Young is smaller but he sure showed some flash for a younger guy.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to BR News's topic in News
Ravens can be good next year and they did improve from last year to this year. I liked the additions of Wallace and Weddle each one brought something to this team . I hope Oz drafts at the very least 1 O-Lineman if not 2 for the future. Oz built this team through the draft and also by adding a free agent for the right price here and there. I think the biggest hole to fill because of his retirement will be SSS he has the ability to get the team fired up. As far as the coordinators go that's a hard 1. I personally have mixed feelings about replacing them some ways I think it would be better in other ways I think they deserve another shot.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to ludy51's topic in Ravens Talk
1-2 punch West looked good this year and I honestly remember thinking he was going to be just camp RB depth then cut to make it to the final 53 guys but West played hard and ran hard even when the o-line was not really run blocking that well West ran hard. Dixon showed he has game and ran hard too I think they compliment each other well and are in my personal opinion the best 2 backs we have on the team right now some of the others I would not be surprised to see let go next season. You need at least 2 backs in this league and our division. So for 2017 season 1-2 punch West and Dixon but 2-3 years from now that's hard because so many things factor in to decide that Injuries, coaching staff, draft younger guys and offensive scheme. Who is going to be the offensive coordinator in 2-3 years? So I believe next season in 2017 West Dixon probably 1-2 punch but after that ?????
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to Gruntled Ravens Fan's topic in Ravens Talk
I would like to see at least 1 or 2 more young o-line get drafted for the future a safety to go along with Weddle and decent back-ups for J.Smith and Young who should both be the starters next season.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to Gruntled Ravens Fan's topic in Ravens Talk
I truly believe that's the one position the scouts and Oz have a hard time figuring out and thats why they get them in free agency. For example Atlanta traded away quite a bit to get Julio. Was he worth it? YES!!! Flacco has had great WR's here but all were a little older Mason came in and made some great plays. Boldin made some big plays too then they traded him away over a little bit of $ and S. Smith has heart and great talent but all were a little older when they got to Baltimore.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to BR News's topic in News
You always go to win unfortunately they sure dropped a few this season and it just seemed like they were lacking discipline at times with a whole bunch of stupid penalties. Sometimes it seemed like they forgot that running the ball is important. The team just seemed like it did not want it and lacked urgency.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to Moderator 2's topic in Ravens Talk
I guess they did not want it bad enough. Should have taken care of business earlier in the season. Well time to look and see whats going on in the draft.
ALSKAN RAVEN FAN replied to BR News's topic in News
"The Ravens didn’t get a Christmas gift from the Buffalo Bills this weekend" Should never expect or count on a gift from any team or officiating they need to take care of business themselves the Ravens players and coaches put themselves in this position and kept saying we control our own destiny well we shall see!!!
