Let's remember a few things:
1) He never made an catch in the NFL before coming to the Ravens. Buffalo had him and turned him loose. New England had him and turned him loose.
2) He caught the ball by default in 2015 because he literally was the only healthy body on the field at the time. He wasn't the number one guy in that season. A healthy Perriman (would have started over him) and Steve Smith did start over him. His other receiving mates were (and kudos to you if these names are instant recall for you) Jeremy Butler (where is he now? Caught 2 whole passes for 11 yards for SD), Chris Matthews (where is he now? IR for 2016), Marlon Brown (where is he now? On the IR for the Broncos. Why did we let him go? Because he kept getting hurt and couldn't get open.) Chris Givens (where is he now? Didn't even play in 2016.) Jeremy Ross (who? and where is he now? Caught 4 passes for 37 yards, 1TD for Arizona), Kaelin Clay (Where is he now: IR for 2016), and of course Campanaro who couldnt' stay on the field.
3) Any wonder he had his best season ever when he was the only guy on the field?
4) Stop comparing Ravens to Ravens. This is a guy who is a roster bubble guy on any other team that doesn't have a huge need at WR. If he was better than Steve Smith Sr., Mike Wallace, or a healthy Perriman, he would have been getting snaps over these guys. I can see a WR hungry team like the Jets (if they let Marshall go) or the Browns giving him a shot at being a starter.
👆👆. Said perfectly.
I got nothing against Kamar Aiken, but when he spoke out earlier this season about his disappointments and frustrations I felt it was pointless unless he went out and proved to coaches that he deserved to be on the field and make plays.
I know people got caught up in the Aiken hype just as they got caught up in the dare I say it Marlontron hype both had their stellar year when the Receiving corps where either injury riddled and/or transitioning.
Aiken is journeyman special teamed that was forced into a starting role last year.
Not sure why he's so pumped to be a free agent.
Really makes even less sense for Harbaugh to just outright name him the OC going forward and saying he's confident all these aspects will improve. All he needs to do is go back and read every weekly transcript of himself saying, we need to get back to Ravens football, we need to run more.
Literally the only thing Harbaugh mentioned that actually happened was getting Dixon more touches and he said that for about 4 weeks before Dixon started seeing the touches.
They feel that a 13 play drive for 40-50 yds and ends in a 45+ yd FG is great

We may not know for sure, but I'm sure someone like A.Schefter, J.Hensley, G.Downing, R.Mink, M.Preston, etc would have had a rumor or an Insider Report if the Ravens setup any potential interviews.
We're only 2 days from the regular season finale! They could have at least interviewed McCoy.
It's really a shame that this team didn't even bother to make any inquiries for a possible OC. I mean what did he do to show that he could improve this team offensively.
He took over this offense in week 6. Overall there was no difference in play selection or creativity, and productivity.
Smh
I'd like to see an offensive coordinator that can actually use the personnel, and put them in positions to succeed.
Meaning a lot of these coaches (offensive and defensive ) have their systems and just want to run the system regardless of their personnels strengths and weaknesses. Kind of like how Rex Ryan went to the bills last year and had Mario Williams dropping into coverage for what reason.
With all the TEs on this roster this season I thought this team would get creative like The Patriots have various packages to exploit LBs and Safeties in space, keep teams off balance not knowing if a run or pass is coming.
Or Aiken is decent possession WR, somehow I think he ran more deep routes than Perriman or Moore kids drafted to take the top off.
I like Juice a lot but there was a trend of on third downs to only have Juice in the back field, this could be he's a more trusted pass protector sure but more often than not it was a dump off pass to him.
When the team fired Cam Cameron there was tangible change in the offense that could be easily seen under Caldwell years ago. I mean Anquan Boldin was used more in the slot, we attacked the middle of the field a lot more. And ultimately the team won a Super Bowl so keeping Caldwell and thinking things would only get better seemed obvious ( although it failed ).
Now this year the switch from Trestman to Marty hasn't be as obvious. The offense still never attacked down field, still failed to execute a proper Screen play ever. Had games where they failed to establish a balanced attack or completely abandoned the run.
First after reading this basically seems like Flacco is giving a PC answer and avoiding any potential sound bites that make it seem like he's pushing for a change.
Pitta however takes a more definitive stance by saying we need some continuity and consistency at the OC spot.
Yanda says what needs to be said especially by an All Pro lineman we need to run the ball more!!
I don't think the offense under Marty did any one thing especially well for the team to feel like hey this is our guy we have our Offensive Identity going forward.
There was still games where Dixon or West had a few good carries early on then before you know it it's the 4th quarter and the team has 12 carries in a one score game.
Well I don't see Pees being let go after his statistically best defense but if the Colts were to pull the trigger on Pagano and he wanted to return to Baltimore he could should be hired immediately.
Heck I'd be fine with them bringing Pagano in under some fake title assistant DB specialist while he pulls the strings.

True.

Neither has Pitta hence force feeding lol. I'm not hurt about Smith not getting more catches. I'd rather see some of these young guys get more action today.
1 minute ago, MadStorkSociety said:Got that right. He'll probably sign a one day contract to retire as a Panther after this.
That's what he should do regardless. Why would he retire as a raven instead of a panther? He didn't have his HOF career here. I could understand if he had 6-7 yrs with us but it shouldn't even be a tough choice for him. Unless his feelings that hurt that they let him go.
Had a bomb to S.Smith not Perriman. How many times has there been a deep attempt to Aiken or S.Smith and left thinking what route did perriman or Wallace have on that play lol.
2 minutes ago, Somerset Ravens said:Too many other needs to consider a rb early.
I said running back is not a need, but how many Rookies can truly impact a team immediately.
Doesnt matter Ravens will be drafting around 18-21 Cook will be gone before then anyway..
I can't dream for Jonathan Allen he's top5 ..
Running back wasn't a need for Dallas. They had a 1,000 yd rusher in McFadden and had already signed Alfred Morris. Zeke has paid off
Who is this idiot trying to injure judon.
1 minute ago, Grapple Raven said:Maybe it is just me, but I feel it is a little disrespectful to SSS for the lack of attention to him today in the game.
Well Considering Flacco is force feeding Pitta, I kinda see why you're thinking with S.Smith. I mean honestly if he had 5 of those Pitta targets I imagine he'd have done much more with the receptions.
Look at that effort from Dixon. That's some film study. A meaningless game, team down he is stuffed short driven backwards even and he just mans up and blows his way into the end zone.
Wow just give the kid the TD ref. Smh. At least give Dixon the TD.
imagine that get it to a WR in space and in-stride and they can make a play versus dump off to FB or TE for 3 yards every play.
When we get in the redzone and we should be hitting the TE and FB on those plays they nonexistent.
Is Pitta going to get a big bonus with x-number of catches because this is ridiculous.
39 passes
14 runs ( 1 campanaro ).
Hopefully next year this team has a reality check and realizes they need a more balanced attack. When a running back begins the game breaking tackles and gaining extra yards feed him the rock, then work of that.
This notion that they are throwing to open up the run game is silly lol. If we had a competent underneath passing game maybe it would viable but this team can't run screens effectively. Every team has a WR smoke screen that gets instant yards. Not the Ravens those plays become high passes that go for negative yardage.
Gone are the days of not allowing 100yd rushers. It's pretty sad considering there are so many running back by committee teams.
I really would have liked them to start Urshel at center in second half to see how he fares. We know the inconsistency that is Zuttah already. Regardless of the nonsense that PFF grades
See this drives me crazy. Just forcing passes to Pitta who is not that great after the catch. Meanwhile Waller, Boyle, Perriman, Moore all could be seeing this action.
This offense is so bad because it throws so many short passes but maybe 1 out of 10 is a pass in stride where guys have a chance to make something happen.

I literally just wrote this on Facebook post for this article. I wrote Aiken's most likely suitors would be Browns, Bears, 49ers and Rams outside of them he's back to a special teamer and 4th option.
It really surprise me how people are arguing on there as if Aiken is an All Pro.
I envisioned Aiken, being a chain-mover on third downs having a role similar to Kelley Washington back in 09'.
