Withdraw the tender offered to West so the poor chap can find a good landing place if you are considering adding RB either in the draft or getting AP. Its the right thing to do.

I'm in disagreement here, the Ravens have handled it correctly. The placed a 3rd round tender on West if any team truly wants him and feels he could be their starter offer him a contract the Ravens can't match and give up that 3rd round pick.

Dixon is suspended for the first 4 games, Woodhead will have a certain role.  So even if the Ravens were to sign AP ( since he's been brought up a few times here ), West would still be valuable for the beginning of the season.

Or at the very least keep him for trade bait  preseason injuries make some players more attractive in trades.

Everyone tweeting and talking about Carr's active streak and all that.... STOP TEMPTING FATE.

my gosh, our luck now Mo Claiborne starts all 16 and Carr's injured week 2 for the year.

cant we have nice things people?

Yeah I thought this myself made me think of E.Monroe first how he had never missed a game in his career then came here became Unbreakable character Elijah Price.

Or when we signed D.Foxworth whom had been mostly healthy then boom ACL and career was over.

The one thing that makes this different is Carr is clearly a stop-gap player that could play himself into longer tenure.

It's simple, they find a way to keep Jernigan too. Williams doesn't play on most third downs.... Yeah his presence forces 3rd and longs and more 3 and outs than anyone!

People please, BWill is one of best NTs in football. He's definitely worth at least 10 mil a year. If your ever gonna overpay by a mil or 2, it's to keep a player like that. Mosley, Stanley, and maybe even jernigan are players you find a way to keep in their prime.

Find a way to keep them is exactly how a salary cap works, yep it's that simple..

In 2016 Franchise Tag for DE was 15.7M, if Jernigan were to put together a Pro Bowl season next year the franchise tag would cost about that amount above.  Perhaps a long term deal could be 13-14M/yr.

If Jernigan has an average year at minimum I'd assume he'd get over 10M/yr similar to what the Steelers paid C.Hayward or the 9M broncos paid Wolfe.

Mosley will get a 5th year option picked up, but the team needs to try and sign him to long term deal early, before they have to pay him more than kuechly

And Stanley is only in year 2 of his rookie contract so he's irrelevant to this particular conversation currently.

Like my original comment said B.Will is a valuable player I like him a lot, but people cried when they let Ngata walk away thinking B.Will wasn't ready to replace him he's done well. I think Pierce could have done something very similar..

Sam Adams & Ted Washington have to be sick to their stomachs that they aren't playing now lol.

Pretty sure last time he was an OLB he was pretty darn good, guy just doesn't fit at 4-3 DE

Again 8 years and two years with good numbers as a pass rusher... he's not a good edge setter by any means so if he's not getting to QB consistently what good is he.  He played how many years in Houston in a 3-4 defense?

Conor Barwin's pretty darn good year was in 2014...  and that's basically a career outlier aka an anamoly..

His one good year is no different than the one year Kruger had with us before being a free agent

not to be a downer coz i love brandon and im glad he's back but that contract is stupidly insane - nearly 11mill for a run stuffing nose tackle with more than half guaranteed...

Yeah I'm with you. We all love Williams but my gosh that's a lot for a NT. What are they gonna do if Jernigan has a Pro Bowl year next year. Let him walk a presume.

I want Boyle to tryout at FB/TE - Juice's position. I think he'll make a far more potent FB than Juice. Think about it. He's the best blocker among the TEs. He's a stout, hard nosed and can pave the way for a RB but most importantly can catch like a TE.

    I'd actually like that myself.

  7. Why haven't they traded at least one of these tight ends for a 5th round pick?

We've got Pitta, Boyle, Gilmore, Waller, M.Williams and Watson ( whom hasn't played a game ).  Read reports they approached Pitta about a pay cut and he seems reluctant.  There's no reason they can't move on from at least two of these guys.

Maxx is still young wasn't getting used enough prior to injury maybe he could fetch a 4th round pick.

  8. I'd take Wallace over Torrey smith... the only issue is Wallace is due 5M+. But he had instant chemistry with Flacco, made more plays than I expected upon the signing.  His numbers could have been better if Flacco wouldn't have been stuck on Pitta the latter part of the season.

I want to see the #s for Jefferson's deal before I get all excited. I like the player and I know how PFF has him graded but I can't help but feel like something is off or missing here. I know he graded well in coverage but the splash plays apart from being a blitzer aren't there for his career. Two career interceptions, which is one more than all-time bust Matt Elam had in his career, and Jefferson was actually on the field way more than Elam. I seem to remember a lot of people excited about signing Kendrick Lewis after coming off of his career year in Houston... So again, I like the pick up but forgive me for not proclaiming our secondary "fixed" as some of you are.

With the Woodhead signing, the Ravens may be "done" with the traditional fullback position as well which saddens me from a nostalgia standpoint (I used to love watching guys like Mike Alstott and Mack Strong). We have the fewest # of draft picks we've had in years and a lot of needs, why use one on the FSU kid when Woodhead is essentially filling the same role Juice did minus the blocking?

There's still a chance they could grab VT FB Sam Rogers in the  later rounds.

Also I want to see Jefferson's and Woodhead's contract numbers as well...

Camp can't be relied on. And will be teamed with Woodhead in the return game
Allen is good for Special teams and that really is it
Dixon will be our main back and will be carrying a lot of the load and needs time off. And needs to improve his pass protection
Also, he's not really going to be a rb- he'll be a screen/ wr/ scat back type. I doubt even our coaches can screw that up
His injury was week 2 as well at least. Could be interesting

Lol... you basically reiterated what I said about him and his role...  his role has always been that of a Receiving RB/ slot/ gimmick guy..

Camp has injury concerns yes we all know.. but we can't pretend that a 32 year old player Woodhead coming off of ACL injury will be dependable either

Why on earth do you think that's all Buck Allen is good for when he had 800+ total yards his rookie year only to be Healthy scratch weekly this year.

We just saw T.West play 16 games most as the starter and he just barely got 1000 total yards this year.

And  even if Woodhead is perfectly healthy will this coaching staff use him correctly still remains to be seen.

All I'm saying is this could be Speedy Noil or Greg Ward in the 6th-7th round. Or it could be K.Reynaulds as well for Returns/ versatile weapon.

He's here now but wow one of the first signings lol

  11. I don't really understand this signing at all.. Woodhead is coming off injury, Dixon and Allen are both good receiving backs...

Campanaro has a similar role already, as a returner/ slot WR/ trick play guy.

And I'm just not confident the coaches will even use Woodhead properly similar to the Patriots or Chargers.

Probably could have filled this void through the draft in the later rounds...

Lol. Seriously everyone on Facebook still believes jimmy smith sucks, they all think boldin and Torrey and jacoby were a GOAT wr corps and they, combined with ed reed and ray Lewis carried joe to a super bowl.

They are CLUELESS. The solution to everything is to re-sign boldin and hire ray and ed to coach. I'm really bummed if this is real because this is the only way to avoid that, concentrate a small group of knowledgeable fans and moderate the morons who infiltrate

Yep that's exactly what I'm talking about. And rather than reply directly to someone on FB I've written my own comments.

Responding to how Boldin, Torrey or anyone else lost wasn't ideal at the time but it's hard to still complain and justify given any of their productions since and that's a laundry list of guys.

There are Ravens that left and played good or even better like B.Grubbs , D.Stewart but it's tilted towards most underperforming their big contracts the Ravens couldn't match and that fact goes completely over FB fans heads lol.

I think everyone should click on the "Contact Us" button and write notes to the people that make these decisions and let them know what we all think of this one. Look at how many passionate people are out there scrambling around right now to create new message boards. I mainly go to this site BECAUSE of the message boards. I can get much more accurate and up to date information from Pro Football Rumors and Rotoworld than this site. If I need stats I can always go to Pro Football Reference..and in fact I always do.

Pro football reference is one of my favorite sites....  man I love that for all sports

Thanks for Pro Football rumors never heard of that one before.

I like Sarah Ellison and Eisenberg.

Mink and Downing just seem like fans that got lucky with a job. I feel some of us on here are more insightful.

I totally agree with this. I think articles were better before Hensley moved over to espn to take over AFC North news.

Downing and Mink have always come across as fans that lucky to me as well lol.

I guess that's why it irritates me to watch Mailbag videos because there's never anything insightful on there regardless of the subject.

Well damn, that sucks. Now that the team is mediocre it can't afford an online forum? Hmmm. Sucks because this is the one place I can easily get the information I want and a place where people actually understand and love football like me. The people on here are much more knowledgable that pretty much every writer out there, ravens wise and just football wise.

Ya'll better make some serious changes elsewhere because the homepage sucks imo. Honestly you should hire some like former scouts or someone who gets football!! And no one wants to have convos on twitter or Facebook. That's my private life, my friends don't want to hear about my ravens opinions.

It's been fun boys (and those few girls) but all good things must come to an end I suppose. We may have had our disagreements at times, But I sincerely wish you all the best.

Yeah it's a pain to comment on the team's Facebook, because people with little to no  football knowledge will just jump on and disagree with name calling lol rather than legitimate sports talk.

Also sometimes the forum was nice to read for a little rumors others picked up on elsewhere.

  16. Nice having you Wagner, but as competitive an offer the Ravens may have made 9M/yr is All Pro tackle money.

    Compensatory pick on the way...

Wonder if the Ravens will ever begin to Trade guys that they know they can't extend or don't want to extend because of cost...  It would be nice to trade a few guys similar to how the Patriots have done to gain 2nd and 3rd round picks.

Year after year we have some quality players that leave and we basically are left looking forward to 4th and 5th round comp picks.

It's a shame to lose 3 of our higher level guys and we will feel the loss but no way is Ricky Wagner worth top tackle money. Williams is a beast and great person but his lack of pass rush makes him more expendable and definitely not worth what he will probably get paid by some aweful team with no run defense. Too one dimensional. Juice could be a very unique and dynamic player on another team that knows how to use him. That team is not the ravens and therefor is not worth more than the 2 mil a year FB typically get paid. I wish all of them well but the Ravens will be better off allocating that money elsewhere. The loss of Orr may be the biggest hole to fill. Hopefully KC is up for it this year.

Yep you hit all those bullet points perfectly....

While it'd be nice to keep those guys because they're all solid players, none at the moment could justify taking up a healthy junk of the team's future salary cap.

Thats the way it's gone for several years in a row now. We have guys that are contributors but can't tell if they will become Pro Bowlers or All Pros worthy of a second contract and a big pay day.

Its just too bad we never trade any of these guys and spin them into 2nd round picks like the patriots.

We just lose guys to free agency and hope for compensatory picks.
