I'll probably hover around on Russell Street Report, as well as seeing what becomes of the two attempts to recreate this board (purpleflock and the boardhost one, the former looking markedly more professional).

I comment on various articles on RSR and BaltimoreBeatdown but I never actually looked around the site for a forum.

Actually that's how I got started here  I would comment on various articles years ago. Occasionally I would see people quoting statements including my own and I didn't have a clue how to respond back  from my phone ( blackberry curve back then). Finally I got on my computer saw the little notification and boom the Forum boards opened up to me.

that's crazy - i hate the sentiment that everyone deserves a second chance at the privilege of playing football - it is a privilege not a right - drug issues im fine with, various character concerns/maturity issues arent ideal and obviously rarely pan out but they arent unforgivable but mixon did something that should preclude him from the privilege of playing football in my eyes - his only punishment is that he maybe dropped a round in the draft (at most)

all this is, is the bengals working out that they can get a guy who is incredibly talented on the field because he fell a little bit - this is purely monetary and the bengal's organisation deserve no credit for giving guys like mixon second chances - they can't have their cake and eat it too

Honestly, if the Mixon tape isn't released 3-4 months before the draft, then he gets drafted goes through his rookie season just like Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill with no issues. Or Michigan CB J.Lewis drafted by Dallas.

Mixon incident happened in 2014, the kid was suspended by school from football, had community service and court mandated counseling and whatever else.

The video comes out the violent and senseless act now has imagery to go with it and it becomes a fresh memory.

Mixon hasn't had any other issues academically, personally or team related.

Now if the NCAA had decided to strip away his scholarship ban him from football  completely then I could understand the NFL taking a stand as well. But the guy faced whatever penalties were given to him, the NCAA was able to profit from him playing for Oklahoma the last 2 years, so why should he not have the opportunity to play in the NFL.

He's taken his second chance thus far and remained out of trouble for the last 2.5 years.

People want the NFL to condemn him to double jeopardy like they did Ray Rice because of this video being fresh to everyone's minds.

didnt he have some off field issues or something?

EDIT: yea just looked in to it, hes been suspended a ton. Bowl games, off season stuff where he was suspended for openers at least twice.

And for a guy who was the top "athlete" recruit in the nation, the guy has failed miserably to live up to expectations. And honestly, if he wasnt humbled by his failures to be a standout player on the college level in his 3-4 years (whatever it was) i have 0 faith he's suddenly going to change his attitude and be motivated to live up to his natural ability.

I love guys who overcome being overlooked or bad circumstances in life or lack of natural gifts to become good players. You can trust those kinds of players usually to do everything they can to live up to their potential.

The opposite is true here. I hate guys who have all the natural talent in the world and fail to perform. Especially when theyve had 3+ years to change their attitude or be humbled by not becoming a stand out player in college. What is suddenly going to change? He wasnt embarrassed by being a top national recruit and failing to put up even moderate production in college... hes not going to be embarrassed by going undrafted. He didnt learn from suspensions early on. He didnt learn from missing his first bowl game.

This is clearly a guy who feels he's owed something bc he was a high school hero, big fish in a small pond. And if his natural ability wasnt enough to break through at the college level, it wont come anywhere close to being an asset at the NFL level.

Yeah he some off field concerns, suspensions for violating team rules and I think arguing with coaches, driving without a license and I think a possession charge as well.

So yeah he's a knucklehead, that's why I said a tryout not sign him. A tryout is simply inviting him to camp for an attempt to be signed as Undrafted FA.

TBH Texas A&M coaching staff just had a ton of issues I mean they recruited very well following Manziel on the offensive side of the ball, but they didn't develop any of those talented offensive players.  QBs K.Hill,K.Allen, K.Murray, then WRs R.Seals-Jones, S.Noil, F.Iheanacho all of these guys were 4 of 5 star prospects that either transferred away or did zilch.

C.Kirk had success as highly recruited offensive talent that's about it over the last 3 years.

And I see a kid like Speedy Noil or Malachi Dupre guys that were once heralded highschool players but may not have lived up to the hype and I think maybe they could be the next Martavius Bryant (4 star WR that did nothing at Clemson while Watkins & Hopkins became studs ) or Stefon Diggs who had production but nothing eyepopping, drops in draft looks rock solid.

Speedy could be Russell Shepherd all over again top Athlete that never developed any further.

But a camp tryout isn't that much of investment.

The Steelers are our real rival and is why I dislike them vehemently. The Bengals are the armpit of the AFC North man! They have no class from the owner all the way down to their draft picks. Who with an iota of morality would pick Mixon or a Burfict? Not the Ravens and I'm near certain nor would the Steelers. We build through the draft and coaching by selecting quality players that are warriors when they play each other. In my mind there are 3 top of the line franchises in the AFC - Pats, Ravens and the Steelers. In the NFC - Pakcers, Seahawks and the Giants.

Well yesterday I heard Chris Carter talk about the Bengals Owner, very candidly. He said Owner Mike Brown had him talk to all the players and rookies a few times to tell them about his story as a player and how he overcame his off field struggles with drugs etc.

Anyway he apologized to Chris for not drafting him since he knew Chris was from nearby in Ohio and struggled to make it there. Then when the Eagles cut Carter the owner said he felt like he should have signed him them to give him a second chance because he always felt he needed to use his team as avenue to give second chances and help those less fortunate, overlooked or with red flags.

Carter said he's willing to draft and sign guys just so they can have a chance to correct past mistakes and even if it fails he's tried to help them.

Im glad you already know the result of Clark's career.  Can you please tell me what Bowser turns into?

lol I didn't say I knew clarks career result, but he clearly looks destined for special teams aka competing with A.Levine.

Bowser is a very athletic guy, former basketball player, still learning the position.

I wish I could say what he will become, but players aren't tought as much technique in college these days and it's up to the Pro teams to develop and harness each individual talents

Yeah every year some team finds Brady in 6th round

    Antonio Brown 6th round

    pierre Garçon 6th round

    M.Hasselbeck 6th round

    Marcus Colston 7th round

    donald driver 6th round

    alfred Morris 6th round

Point being doesn't have to be Tom Brady type of great to make an impact on a team but some really good players can come from the 6th and 7th round and even undrafted FA as we all know.

So don't be so hard on people still hoping for playmakers in the late rounds.

Dalton needs all the help he can get

The Ross pick is still odd dalton doesn't have the arm to use a guy with that speed.

If they still had Hue Jackson then I'd think they get creative with him.

Carolina has me curious what type of changes will occur within their offense with McCaffrey and Samuels both in the mix now.

I know. But Ozzie's intel at Alabama has to be better than anyone's. I'm hopeful that he doesn't get into trouble...

Becasue if he does stay out of trouble. The rest of the AFC north is going to collectively crap themselves. This guy was arguably the best pure pass rusher in the draft. His run defense needs work, but he has the tools in place to become a good run defender.

Ladies and gents(and @52520Andrew) we have an attack dog. We haven't drafted a pass rusher this talented since Suggs. And we got him in the third freaking round.

I'm going to post a thread later on about how excited I am.

Yeah I hope kid stays clean too. Bring ray in too do a scared straight lol.

  9. Now that it's day 3, I wouldn't mind

    RT R.Johnson FSU.

    OG D.Johnson Pitt

WR Josh Malpne, Malachi Dupre, Josh Reynolds or Isiah Ford (who tested poorly ).

Other favorites of mine that may not fit the need category anymore :

    CB Corn Elder

    S Eddie Jackson

    Undrafted pick

If Speedy Noil goes undrafted, he'd be an interesting pick up, never lived up to potential at Texas A&M but he could be a dynamic returner, maybe a few slot plays. Not much risk with him as undrafted signee.

he's way better of a natural pass rusher than gregory.

I'm specifically talking about all the drug tests concerns.

Ive never doubted Williams ability to rush the passer, he's got that natural dip in his hip when turning the corner.

I remember mid-season Walterfootball first began to put him in a 3rd round citing they've heard of multiple failed drug tests at Bama etc. I thought these guys are crazy never heard of it. Then 3 months later as the draft process finally began more and more media began to say the same thing.

I like the pick, I felt the same way about him as Noah Spence last year it's time to take a chance and either hit gold or strike out.

The team can't keep drafting projects like Z.Smith and hope they can develop.

I just wanted to say...  You guys sure know how to make a guy feel welcome to Bmore...

Listening to the analysts this morning...  ALL OF THEM believe that this is a GOOD and a SOLID pick.

I think if the analysts were asked now, was this pick a good value considering players on the board and depth at the CB position.

The top two Corners in this draft were S.Jones and M.Lattimore after that it was all over the board as far as the next 5 best Corners. Different sites ranked Q.Wilson, T.White, M.Humphrey, A.Jackson, K.King, G.Conley, T.Tabor ( until he ran like a turtle ).

So if it were possible to trade back any number of spots then trade back.

Sidney Jones has an Achilles injury not an ACL, MCL which requires a full year recovery.
