  1. That would definitely change my opinion of this move as well, if we don't pickup any of these talented WRs this year. ( I guess the only way I could forgive it is if we somehow got one of these WRs next year Green-Beckham, A.Cooper, S.Diggs )
  2. Back in 2010 when I wanted S.Smith many talked down, quite curious how many praise now, although he's only shell of himself it's still a solid pick-up in my opinion.
  3. I'm happier to see m.oher sign with titans than I was to hear about S.Smith today. Lol
  4. Yep the year(2010) before Cam Newton came. And people kept whining he's washed up on these boards then he went and had a monster season 79 rec, 1394yds 7tds. And all of sudden people were like Awww we shoulda traded for him. Other than Muhammad, S.Smith has never had a decent complementary WR.
  5. If a columnist wants to say we are interested in Pettigrew that's cool but the 2009 draft should not even be apart of the discussion as for why he is valued as a player... He should be liked based on, how he has played thus far in his NFL career, injury history, cost relative to his position as a FA....
  6. Since you mentioned Aaron Wilson I decided to look up his article to read about it from earlier today.... It is written well, it goes into how Salary cap ramifications of Franchising him (although we now know that didn't help), also talks about how the Ravens have eventually reached long term deals with every player they have ever franchised, except for Wally Williams... This article begins strongly speaking of ongoing negotiations being "hammered out by both sides" now that the Pitta deal is done Monroe is top priority etc.... Most of all it doesn't just throw out sources say blah, so lets name this article blah without ever mentioning blah....
  7. The Article I read on NFL.com wasn't Aaron Wilson and he wasn't even quoted in it.. It was written by Kevin Patra... The reason I say poorly written is because the article is titled " Eugene Monroe, Baltimore Ravens far apart in talks", then upon reading the article it makes no mention of any type of contract talks, it mentions that Monroe may be considered a top free agent candidate, that Pitta was signed to a new deal, and how several other teams need a tackle... Before mentioning as a side-note that unnamed sources say talks are far apart.... The title of article is an eye-catcher, but the article is not written about that topic, if the title had said " Top destinations for Monroe outside of Baltimore, or Ravens must sign Monroe long term before he hits open market.." then the meat of the article would have substance.... I see these type of articles all the time in my ESPN insider, for NBA "trade rumors" too many reporters hide behind "unnamed sources, sources close to the situation" very few guys actually have the facts right when the everything comes to light....
  8. The Jaguars drafted Joeckel for a couple of reasons, one being that Monroe was in a contract year, and it was doubted that he would re-sign with the team, due to the state of the Jaguars as an organization, consistent losing on the field, constant turnover with coaching staffs, inconsistent QB play... 1) Joeckel was drafted as insurance for if Monroe bolted in free agency, the same scenario played out in KC as well with B.Albert and E.Fisher being drafted. Even the Eagles whom weren't sure of Peters post injury drafted L.Johnson and now Johnson is just a RT..... 2) Jaguars decided to trade Monroe when it became clear he wouldn't sign an extension, trading created the oppportunity to let Joeckel play LT now rather than later, unfortunately for them Joeckel got hurt. The cowboys did the same process with T.Smith the previous year and it helped in developing T.Smith.... Not all top drafted LT prospects step in immediately these days, some J.Long, J.Thomas, T.Williams, R.Okung step in and look Pro Bowl cailber, while some turn into J.Smith , M.Williams, L.Davis, R.Gallery or even Andre Davis, now Andre Davis has become a top RT in this league but he was drafted top 10 to be a LT and that never happened... Point being the drafting of Joeckel didn't mean the Jaguars realized Monroe wasn't fit to be LT anymore...
  9. Just received from mobile notification from NFL.com the Ravens and Monroe are "far apart" in contract negotiations. But the article doesn't say anything in depth, just that "unnamed sources" said that, followed by nothing else relevant to the store.. smh Poorly written article....
  10. Suggs' deal has an $11M signing bonus. Base salaries (2014-18): $1M, $4M, $4.5M, $4M, $4M. Cap numbers: $7.8M, $6.6M, $6.7M, $6M., $6M. 11:58 AM - 17 Feb 2014 That's actually a nice deal.
  11. I was hoping we'd hear details about the deal today. Hope Ngata gets an extension to save us money as well. Because he's not playing 12-14M worth on field like years past , perhaps it's all the injuries I don't know.
  12. Couple things I want to hit on: First, the thought of overpaying Oher because of losing Monroe is a nightmare. Now I shall completely erase this thought from my memory. I'm hoping Oher walks and takes the first deal he gets. I feel like he has regressed in his run blocking which was his strong suit, and he just can't stop the penalties. Now Pitta, you are correct that his stats thus far don't warrant a huge deal, but the previous season he became a valuable asset and a dependable target for Flacco. Playoff run = leverage Pitta , Hip Injury = leverage Ravens.. Pitta returns from injury gets 20 catches in 4 games only 5 catches less than Dickson had for the entire season. Thus proving the need for him in the offense in some way. If pitta wouldn't have returned from injury then I believed he would have had a one year tender.
  13. While I get what you saying a player must maximize their earning potential with limited time in their career. Monroe was drafted under the old draft rules when rookies got big rookie contracts and he was a top 10 pick so his first contract was a solid payday. Problem is he's actually still young enough to sign another lucrative deal, before he becomes desperate to win a title like so many veterans.
  14. Moreno should have went after the ball he sat there looking stupid.
  15. This one of those 90s superbowls. Smh
  16. I don't think Lee plays like Torrey. Lee runs some really good routes , when he had Barkley at QB they often sent Lee on a variety of routes, Lee scored a lot of long TDs but when you look at the TDs he often caught screens, slants, or posts then he broke free and created the long TD. If I had to compare him right now it would probably be to a young Issac Bruce deep speed to beat anyone but runs good enough routes to get underneath defenders to open up the deep pass later. Torrey has really improved his route running and his catching but I think Torrey has been used as a Deep Threat first and that opens up the occasional short pass ( while Lee was utilized as a complete WR when he had a capable QB)
  17. Given the descriptions in OP. I find myself leaning more towards wanting a playmaker. This needs also stems from watching Torrey not get used creatively enough for him to become a dynamic playmaker. I want a WR that can play multiple positions outside or inside slot to create mismatches. I'm not that hung up on the big bodied guys like Mike Evans & K.Benjamin, because Marlon has the height and with a solid offseason can get stronger and more durable. I did want Alshon Jeffrey after we traded out of the first round 2 years ago because I still loved the kid from his Sophomore year although his junior year wasn't as good . ( but I never looked at Evans or Benjamin in that manner ) I also liked M. Floyd coming out of ND. WR is a position that used to take a longer develop in the nfl do to kids not running routes in college but with NFL passing rules now WRs seem to be making impacts early and often. I feel like Evans or Benjamin could be the next Jon Baldwin ( big WR that dominated in college but can't put it together yet in NFL) I hope not
  18. That's basically what I heard as well... I spent time with the QBs I know how Kubiak wants the offense to run from a total point I'm here to work that. Sounds like the assistant OC to work out the kinks perhaps communicate more with players.
  19. Harbaugh actually saying some good things in press conference. The offense won't be Broncos' or Texans' Offenses it will be the Ravens' Offense built around our personnel to be a downhill team.. The key thing is actually building the offense to suit our personnel rather attempting to force guys into a system that doesn't work..
  20. Also, this OC position needs to get wrapped up soon, I could understand if they were interviewing a bunch of fresh faces from the college ranks and wanting to take more time. Some of these guys: Kirby Smart looks like he has played a role in the decline of the Steelers run game since his arrival, Hostler has shown he can develop many WRs here...
  21. It is about time he got an interview, although I was pulling for Kyle Shannahan at this point over Hostler.... As for ZBS, in previous seasons we sprinkled in some zone concepts that Leach brought to the team, this year I don't know what Castillo did with his schemes but the entire O-line looked confused often... Regardless of whom becomes the OC, them along with Castillo (since he has been retained ) needs to teach their schemes but also develop the offense around the players strengths better, which has been an issue on the offensive side of the ball for years.. Trying to force possession WRs to be speed guys running streaks, this season the refusal to attempt power running plays...
  22. After reading about Kirby Wilson"s production as RB coach for Cards and Steelers. If it's a two man race between he and Kyle Shanahan then I'm pulling for Shanahan. I'd still like to see Zorn interview for QB coach.
  23. Thanks, oh wow. Good grief Charlie Brown. After reading that I'm wondering why is this guy even a candidate, when his track record shows he can't even have an above average rushing attack. This year our run game was horrendous, given his track record of making rushing attacks decline smh. Reading basically showed me that even Mike Tomlin hires friends and keeps them regardless of performance similar to John Harbaugh.
  24. I'm just hoping they hire someone soon, and whomever they hire I hope they are creative and flexible in terms of building an offense around the talent.
  25. Anyone know anything about Kirby Wilson?? Other than being a RB coach at several teAms ??
