I'm disappointed that BAL only got 1 pick for him. Newsome could've milked SF for a little more.
We were going to cut him. Getting any picks at all was a good job, the 49ers probably didn't want to have to bid on him in FA so they gave one of their many draft picks away
Personally, if I'm the Ravens, I offer Cruz the $4million Q turned down. If nothing else, to make the Giants spend more money than the $2.86million they have to pay Cruz for the 1st Rnd tender. And if, for some unbelievable reason, no one else offers more and the Giants refuse to pay, we get Victor Cruz for $4million and lose the 32nd pick in the draft (that low, it's like giving up a 2nd round pick anyway). I'll take that deal all day long.
Cruz has to accept the deal... He's not going to agree to 4 million
After todays news... Q gone... Reed is next and they haven't even offered anything to Ellerbe... so what is OZ doing right now.
Ozzie is doing what he always does, waiting and building the best team possible by simply being patient.
I don't know Ali proclaimed he was the greatest, and I believe him. Regardless anyway I hope I'm wrong I really do, but will let history be the judge. Feel free to refer back to my post in a year or two. If I'm wrong I'll gladly eat my words. But I fear I am right.
It may not be Doss that gets the majority of the playing time, we have a lot of young receivers and they have shown flashes. I for one feel like Laquan could become a solid piece for us.
I've seen him play in college and all his games in a Ravens uniform. Great talent evaluators like myself can make accurate assessments base don just that.
I'm sorry, not trying to poke fun, but these kind of statements always make me laugh. Anyone can be great at anything on the internet, and normally when you have to proclaim yourself as great, you aren't
We were about to cut him, and then end up getting what amounts to a free 6th round pick. Ozzie knows what he's doing
you've got to evaluate talent quickly in the NFL. Ravens can't afford to sit back and wait for Kyle Boller to become a number 1 qb anymore. Everytime a player steps out on the field he is given a chance and should make everyone count because he is being evaluated at every turn. Doss has gotten reps on more than one occasion.
Well I suppose Peyton Manning should have been dumped after his first season. He threw over 20 picks!
Man all this doom and gloom reminds me of...
Every other offseason. Fans always freak out and talk about how we can NEVER be as good as we were when we had "so and so". We always make moves, and it always works out.
blasphemy. The man can still run. Had some big plays in the play offs. And still effects the pass and the run game. Yeah he hasn't been the best tackler since the nerve injury, but he still hits hard and is a top 5 Safety. He's got at least 3 good years left. If you let Reed go we will be out of SB contention for the next 2 years at least. We don't have anyone that can fill his shoes on our roster and there are no quality safety free agents out there either.
You seem to think that a team must have a back up of equal or better quality for every position. You have expressed the same sentiment about not having a player as good as Boldin on the roster to replace him. Sadly, the NFL doesn't work this way. You can't fill every spot on a team with a pro bowler, that's why you have to have a good TEAM to compete. We lose players every year and we replace them every year. So far the track record is that if we have Joe, we will be in the playoffs and have a chance to win every year. It's time that we continue to build our young core instead of keeping our old veterans past their prime.
Alright, this is just derailing the topic.
I guess we won't know anything until Tuesday at the earliest.
whatever dude no one said that at all ....lol most people are looking for a conversation about options if he leaves. and for the record even if they were they are entiltled to voice there opinions here just like you are and not be belittled or made fun of for them .
You in response to Boldin not being on the team this year
if he doesn't then we have a losing season
those are the casual fans. I don't put any stock in pre-season. I judge what players do during the regular season.
But how are we supposed to do that if they don't get playing time in the regular season? You act like these are guys that have underperformed in the league for years.
To everyone bagging on our young WRs (Doss, Laquan, Streeter, Thompson); don't you remember Torrey? He had a disappointing training camp and preseason, some were already labeling him a bust, others were saying he would never be more than a speed guy who would come in for go routes. Then he gets a shot to start a game because one of our WRs who we assumed was better got hurt. Everyone knows what happened that day.
I'm not saying I don't want Boldin, I do. I will be very disappointed if we lose him. I'm simply saying to let others have a shot before you write them and the team off. Sometimes it's all about confidence, and in the case of someone like Torrey all it took was one game for him to become the WR we were looking for.
i agree with you i keep hearing doss has the best hands on the team if thats the case as stated before this wr corps is in serious trouble. In ozzie we trust for defense the man does not do well in the wr department. streeter was a stand out in college why was he stashed on ir was it route running or was he really injured. thompson hasn't played enough to make a decision. and i know this isn't a popular opinion but jacoby jones is not a number 1 or 2 reciever. he drops allot of balls. the fo doesn't care what any of us think but i pray they work things out with q until at least we find some good wr's.
Streeter was placed on IR because he was a project. There was no way he was ready to play in the NFL. Pretty everyone agrees that Jacoby is a 3, no one is suggesting he be our other starting WR.
There's no point in trying to defend Flacco (not saying I don't support him or anything) because the people who dislike him (and that seems to be pretty much everyone) have already made up their minds about him regardless of what he has/can accomplish. Hell, I saw people getting mad about his decision to go to McDonalds after signing the contract.
Oh I don't even get involved in those conversations. I can see when people can't be reasoned with.
quick question
Who the hell is Dragonfly? lol
Thompson would be my guess
Sports news is almost unreadable right now. Everywhere I turn people, who are uninformed, blame Flacco's contract on every single thing that happens. Heck, I'm sure there were a few who blamed Flacco for Harrison being cut, because that seems to be the level of knowledge they have.
Only one I can think of was a horrible throw by flacco that boldin stretched out to get 1 hand on while reaching down. If you call that a drop then you dont understand what a drop is. If your attempting to argue that boldin doesnt have great hands then you obviously dont watch ravens games.
Just to clear this up, the other drop came on the drive where we tried the fake FG run. It was around the ten yard line and Boldin just didn't catch the ball, it was almost intercepted too.
Now there are reports that Boldin hasn't gotten a request from the Ravens.

Guys, you can't keep everyone. Every year this happens and people freak out. And guess what? It works out because our FO is the best in the league. We replaced Grubbs, JJ, Landry, Mason, Heap, Mclain, in recent years, and that's just some of our starters! IF, we release Boldin (still an if), we will move on and continue to compete. Many people on here call for Laquan or Doss to get more time, well this could be their chance. Thompson and Steeter both have potential, but if we cling to our veterans they will never get a chance.
What most people don't understand, is that only bad teams pay players for what they have done in the past. Good teams realize when it's time to move on, we did it with Mason, we did it with Heap, we may do it with Boldin. I understand people want him back, but sometimes you have to sit back and realize how foolish it really is to cling to vain pedigrees and past glories.

It wasn't about Ellerbe it was about one year of Q vs being able to sign a player long term
