Didn't Baltimore once had an indoor football team? I went to Baltimore Mariners championship game

Yes, I had season tix their last season. That year, the Mariners set a league record for most points scored in a game, most scored in a season, largest victory margin in a game, and went undefeated. The team folded after the head of 1st Mariner Bank was investigated on several charges. I still have a football I caught and had the team sign after the Championship game. A lot of fun for the money, season tix that year was $59 !!

But at what point do you say that one person can't force you to completely change your playbook. Pitta just has to be better. He had no problem standing before the media and basically trowing Trestman under the bus when he was led to be the scapegoat, now he needs to step up and be better.

I think the Ravens could easily replace Pitta in that position with Hurst but those plays are setting up other play action and misdirection plays. So when the defense sees that formation again but it's Pitta there instead of a blocker they are probably gonna be smart enough to figure it out. Pitta just has to be better or lose snaps to guys like Boyle and Waller when they prove to be better.

Yes, Pitta needs to be better. But needing to be better, and actually being better is two different things. If you're TE sucks at blocking, you can't keep asking him to in the hopes that on one of those plays he's gonna suddenly get it right.

Oh so lets play out the entire 3rd quarter offensively and see how you would have done anything differently.

First play of the 3rd quarter, 20 yard pass to SSS. Next play on 1st and 10 you run the ball for zero yards with West. Now it's 2nd and 10 are you running the ball here after getting nothing on first down?

On 2nd and 10 the Ravens used the running game(playaction) to set up a 1on1 opportunity for Wallace but Pitta missed a block. Are you running the ball on 3rd and 10? On 3rd and 10 Dallas breaks up a pass to Wallace. The Ravens proceed to punt the ball back to Dallas with 13:20 left in the 3rd quarter, got the ball back with 7:31 left and down 7.

Ok lets run the ball. 1st play is a 5 yard pass to SSS and the 2nd play is a 6 yard run by Flacco. Those are two good chances to run the ball there, but passing the ball produced a 1st down, how can you knock it? The very next play the Ravens successfully run the ball with Dixon for a 9 yard gain, the problem is Zuttah is called for a very questionable penalty. Now the Ravens are facing a 2nd and 16. Are you running the ball here? I don't think so. The Ravens pick up 11 yards to Wallace, now it's 3rd and 5, are you running the all here? Ravens punt and get the ball back again in the 4th quarter down by 14 points.

So since i clearly don't know what i'm talking about and just want to defend the Ravens, let's see how you would have done differently.

From " My Cousin Vinny"............Judge says "that was very articulate, well thought out argument. OVER RULED"   lol, just kidding. Agree with you, it's hard to see where they could have run the ball more. Especially with the O-line in such trans flux this season.

We actually had 2 possessions in the 3rd quarter. We started the 2nd half with the ball, completed the 1,000th catch for SSS and got the ball out to midfield, but on 2nd 10 Pitta missed a block and Flacco couldn't hit Wallace would had a step and would have had the ball atleast inside the 30. Yet another missed opportunity for this offense.

I agree that the defenses inability to get off the field in the 2nd half really hurt, but I have to give the offense's inability to stay on the field just as much blame. The Ravens should've had their way with that defense.

still can't figure out wth pitta is doing on the field in te blocking plays. he's awful.

  5. The TV and NFL execs saw a way to make more revenue, and they wound up killing the ratings by flooding the market with too much product........ 3 games on Sunday, 1 on Monday, 1 on Thursday, plus Thanksgiving and Christmas games. In the retail biz, we call that "prostituting" (can't post the word we actually use) out a product. All it does in the end is make the product too accessible and cheapens it's value.

They have a decent o line. We won't touch Ben today. Our front has been awful at getting to the quarterback without blitz, and pees is too lazy to compensate for that. He will eat Cheetos on the sideline knowing any loss today will be put on the offense no matter how poor the defense plays. Our defense will get shredded today, I guarantee it.

Well, you can't blitz if the secondary can't cover, so...............we'll see.

  7. I recall a couple/few years ago they hurried Ben back, from a foot injury, to play us. Our D hounded him and he was limping worse when the game was over than when it started. Shouldn't need to blitz to get him rattled today. Just blanket those receivers and a 3 or 4 man rush will be enough to get it done. I figure even though he's playing, he's not gonna be running east/west extending plays as usual.
