  1. Maybe 6-10 if WE get very lucky early in the season. Pray Bears&Browns don't torch our secondary "if" we have Suggs lead us in sacks this year.

So you're implying that the Ravens 2017 secondary, which several NFL pundits have already called one of the best in the league, will get "torched"?

    1

  2. Just so we can put this whole "trade for Joe Flacco thing to bed", here's the salary cap perspective on IF a trade like this were to happen:

The moment you trade Joe, his 2017 cap number INCREASES from $24.55M to $47.3M, so that's an increase of 22.75M.

According to Spotrac, we have roughly $4.5M in cap space available right now.

So that means that we would need to create $18.25M in cap space if we trade Joe. Note that all this does is get us to no cap space, thus not allowing us to sign our draft picks until we create more.

So in order to do that, lets look at some possible cuts:
Wallace: $4.75M - a must cut in order to make this move happen.
    Watson: $3M
    Arrington: $2.1M

Cutting those three guys would be a must. That gets us halfway there. While most would say its not a big deal to could Watson or Arrington (which we will likely do anyway), the key here is to note that we have zero choice but to cut Wallace the moment we trade Joe.

Still need to create about another $8.5M in space. Lets look at mixture of cuts there:
    Yanda: $1.55M
    Suggs: $1.05M
    Hurst: $1.8M
    Jensen: $1.8M
    West: $1.8M
    Mallett: $1M

If we cut those six guys, we'll clear $9M in space, so that gets us there.

So I guess if you REALLY want to trade Joe, it could happen. All you'd have to do is cut Wallace, Suggs, Yanda, Mallett (so now we have no QBs on the roster), West and Jensen (and a handful of other players we probably don't care about).

And remember... this only gets us to break even. We can't use our draft picks yet, because we don't have the cap space to sign them. And we need to sign a QB as well.

Outstanding team management there isn't it?

Very well presented, factual post.....which has NO business being in here. LOL.

Me myself personally in all three regards like when a WR does his thing after a big catch or TD! When Jacoby Jones danced in the endzone after scoring those two TDs in the Super Bowl can anyone say they weren't just as happy?! Triple " S " backed it up week after week and got his respect from players on the opposite team! Jernigan is our dancer now on Defense and he is doing his thing also so Diva or Soldier catch the rock make a good play and do your thing! They work hard so they can play hard as well! And these players that just love the game are not getting in trouble on or off the field! Well maybe on the field a Lil bit Lol!

I don't have a problem with some celebrations, but carrying a sharpie in your sock, jumping into a giant Salvation Army kettle, etc. is stupid.

As for Aiken and Juszczyk: time will tell if they were right or wrong. What I cannot help noticing however, is that while I cannot really remember defensive players leaving Baltimore then thropwing back darts, there were 3 offensive guys (these two plus KO last season) who don't really speak really fondly of the Baltimore offense... That less and less seems a coincidence...

I've long said, and I still think Harbaugh simply doesn't understand the NFL offense, and that's why he keeps appointing the wrong guys to command our O (with the sole exception of Kubiak), but knows too little to overrule their mistakes in offensive strategy, game planning and play calling. I fiormly believe that as long as Harbaugh is our HC, the only way we can have a good offense is by chance - because nobody who is responsible for it is good enough. I believe all the offensive success we've had since 2008 was not because of our coaching stuff, but in spite of it - out of the virtue of the players.

And that's why I think that no matter who we draft and acquire in free agency, we don't really have any real reason to hope for better a season that what we had - because the by far biggest cause of our offensive impotence: the incapable HC - has not been removed from the system. And until that happens, you can count on players leaving Baltimore to throw back shade like this...

Totally disagree. Our offensive success has to be credited at least in part to the coaches. The inmates do not run the asylum in Bmore. Players just cant say screw them, I'm doing it this way. Credit is rarely where it is due. So I guess the coaches had nothing to do with winning the Superbowl in New Orleans, it was all Ray Lewis and the players.

well, to be fair, other than Kubiak, have we had any "offensive success" worth crediting to anyone?

  5. Jefferson is a good guy but please fact check the article. If he is 22 now and Jeffersons 25.. at 13 Jefferson would not be in college at 16. Also, the screenshots is Jefferson in a Cards jersey.. which would not be 9 years ago.

Not saying it didnt happen but it doesn't add up.

Hmm, I don't see anything saying he's 22. Per the screen shot of facebook, the conversation took place 02/28/2011. Jefferson was born 01/27/1992, so would've been 19 at the time Bartick was 14 = 5 years apart. Bartick is now 20.

People will always complain no matter what. The same people crying we spent this money are the same people who cried when the Steelers walked all over our defense scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter and we couldn't stop ANY team in the fourth quarter. For all the Flacco bashing that goes on he was always able to get that score in the fourth quarter to put us ahead but the defense would turn right around and let the other team score and win. When you try to please everyone, you please no one. Thank goodness Ozzie doesn't listen to the people in here. Carr is a good, solid, press corner who is a reliable player who goes out every day and is successful and if your other corner is injury prone, you need someone reliable. If you watched Dallas last year, OCs went after Claiborne, not Carr. There is a reason for that. Claiborne was a sporadic, fly around, get caught out of position corner, fooled on the double move and Carr was a solid, Fluid, press corner who was always within a step of his guy. Educate yourself, if you have access to the Cowboys games, watch them and then tell me Carr's money was a waste.

The Ravens had either 7-0, or 10-0 leads in the 1st quarter six times last year. Then never scored more than 23 points in any of those games. COMPLETE tank by the AWFUL QB and the AWFUL HC and OC the Ravens pay to LOSE. The Steelers scored 14 points in the first game also, in the fourth quarter, with their offense on the field for nearly 12 minutes. Same as the Ravens O scored the entire game. It's money wasted, no matter who they sign, as long as Pathetic Joe and Self Righteous John are still on this team. Educate yourself.

So by your thinking no matter how many points an awful D gives up, it's the O's fault for not keeping up? Uhh, OK, got it. smh.

McCaffery is hands down better than Edelman. I also, like him better than anyone in this draft. He can line up anywhere; outside, slot, back field, and can even throw a pass!

I'm a huge fan of McCaffery myself but did you just say he's hands down better than Edlman?

no rookie is hands down better than a proven thousand yard receiver before they play an NFL snap

"no rookie is hands down better than a proven thousand yard receiver before they play an NFL snap"
Yea, I hate when people start giving props to untested rookies. I don't care how good you were in college, after all, 90% of the guys you were playing against aren't good enough to make the NFL. Play your first NFL season, then we'll start making comparisons!

Lol, so some people think we'll beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh but lose to the Bengals in Cincinnati, even though Heinz Field is one of the toughest places to play, where tons of good to great teams have lost at.... Got ya.

well, there is some merit to that thought process. we play pitt way better than we play cincy, the past couple years anyway.

No, not a steelers troll, just a fan who has no real perspective on what a team that is truly garbage really looks like. In general, they look like the Browns or the Rams. They are not one sitting at 8-6 and playing for a division title.

Since Ed and Ray left, they've not been as good as they were when they were here. Well, now there is a shocker. A team loses 2 slam dunk hall-of-famers and sees a drop off? Someone needs to explain how that could happen.

I understand - even at 8-6, that many fans (including myself) are frustrated at the team not playing consistently. But the team shows flashes of being dangerous, as they did back in 2014 (post Ed and Ray), where they squeaked into the playoff in the final week - needing help and only narrowly beating the feeble Browns. What team could that group beat in the playoffs? The answer: The Steelers in PIT and darn near took out the soon to be Super Bowl Champion Pats, if not for some desperate dig into the Pats bag of tricks.

So - what team can they beat if they get to the playoffs this year? I'm not sure, but I'd like to find out (as would the fans of many other teams who are actually garbage).

    bravo!

What steeler troll will have a profile pic of the 2 best players ever to play the game? Unfortunately since they left (Ray and Ed) this team sucks. They play soft, uninspired, lethargic, anemic, just plain boring and painful to watch. You can wear your purple shades, I am comfortable being a realist and understanding this team is garbage and has absolutely no business in the playoffs. If we are lucky enough to make the playoffs, what team can we beat in the playoffs?? You remember when Harbaugh asked: "Who has it better than us?" Well the answer to both questions is the same. "NOBODY"

then why bother even being on this site or on these boards? if it's that hopeless, root for another team. i'm sure the pats could use some more bandwagon fans.

This is a very easy game to predict. Since the Steelers actually have an offense and we continue to play Har-ball the outcome is obvious. Bell puts up big numbers against us and this game is over by half time. 34-14 Steelers and so the farce ends.

Also no need to predict the Bengals game since it is totally irrelevant and nobody really cares anyway. In the off season I hope everyone takes the time to stand up and say it's time to replace the Harbaugh regime. Only then can the Ravens begin to heal and move forward.

Since I am a die-hard Ravens fan I will be back next year and shall continue my rants against a dysfunctionally run John Harbaugh system of football and I will not rest until he is run out of town on the next thing smokin and takes Ozzie Newsome with him.
