  1. Oh woops. My bad - I thought I made an entire post for this. I think drafting purely based off of best player is incorrect. I think drafting the best player for your list of problems is the correct theory(and the ones that are actually employed). If the best QB is available, we aren't going to take that position when we have glaring problems with our run game/pass protection/pass rush. I always look at as a simple formula. Give points to your biggest problems. 3 for Oline. 2 for Pass Rush. 1 for Reciever. Then points to players. Combine players + Need points and that is going to trump "best player" I think every time.Drafting is a crap shoot. You need to at least be addressing your problems in some form. Will end discussion as this is for RBs
  2. Just watching all the posts and discussions come through on taking a wide receiver first round and it honestly surprises me. Obviously its the flashier pick and generates excitement, but it doesn't fix our biggest issue last year. All season we complained about the lack of a running game and the running game starts with the o-line. We aren't going to draft a hotshot running back, but we can get our running game back on track with a solid RT pickup. My hopes is we actually sign MANgold and pick up one of the top o-line pick ups this year. I wouldn't mind a top end pass rusher, but to pick a WR in either round 1 or 2 would be crazy to me with our needs. Even after the interviews, you may have Mike and Flacco, maybe saving face, saying we don't need any more weapons, but it is true to how the offense operates. Flaccos average yds/attempt is something like 7 yards, we don't need all-star receivers to accomplish that. You start averaging 3-4 yards a rush with a decent line, Flaccos dump off to running backs and Marty's short drag routes start to accomplish more. It opens up the play-action/deep ball game. I don't see how anyone can make a legitimate argument that a top receiver is our biggest need. I would love to see someone defend why receiver is our number 1 priority with any form of statistics I would be interested if anyone can find an instance where we had a successful season without a 1800+ rushing YD season Needs in Order of what we lack O-Line Pass Rusher Receiver Cornerback (I would like to put MLB and DE here, but we have some young guys that are still yet to be proven) tl;dr Flacco needs a run-game and protection. Not an all-star receiver.
