  1. If Mike Williams was still there at #16 and was the BPA, then I say pick him. But we also need high quality pass rusher DE/OLB who could take spot vacated by Dumervil. New version of T-Sizzle 2.0 and those only come in 1st round. Besides we drafted Torrey Smith in 2nd and he turned pretty good for us.
  2. Keeping Brandon Williams is the key to our success on defense. Loosing both, B.Williams and Lawrence Guy, would leave our defense in shambles. Guy is replaceable with Urban and other D-linemen in rotation. Also signing Jefferson and Carr were two great moves in solidifying our secondary. So we have some solid starters on D- Line and Secondary, and we can add depth players via draft. The question marks are ILB and OLB spots vacated by Zach Orr and Elvis Dumervil. We will draft for both of those spots, the question is in which rounds. Also depends on Correa and Judon and their readiness to be a full time starter. On the Offense, assuming Woodhead will compensate for loss of Jusczyk, and John Urschel takes over Center spot vacated by Zutah, we certainly need a solid starter replacement for Wagner at RT. That is the biggest glaring hole at this time. Gotta be addressed, preferably by signing FA or draft. As for some folks(and pundits) wishing for drafting shiny WR in 1st round, I say we have Wallace & Perriman as WR1 & WR2,. And we can put Campanaro in the slot. Yes, we need to draft WR , but does it have to be in 1st round? We drafted LT Stanley last year, and Perriman year before that. Will Ozzie go Offense in 1st round again this year?
  3. If we can get good RT for good price, I think we should sign one. What other choices do we have at that spot? Could we count on J.Hurst to be solid starter there? We could draft one, but there are not that many good ones.
  4. Thanks to Ozzie Newsome for Brandon Carr signing, and Happy Birthday. Our Defense got better: DT Jernigan / C. Davis NT Williams / Pierce / Henry DE Urban / B. Kaufusi ? draft rooke ROLB. Suggs / Z.Smith ? LOLB McClellan ? / Judon ? draft rookie MicLB. Mosley / Onwuasor? SamLB. Corea ? / Louis? draft rookie SS. Jefferson / Levine FS Weddle. / ??? draft rookie CB1 J.Smith / Canady? draft rookie CB2. B.Carr. /. Roberson? Nickel T.Young / Arrington Needs: DE, OLB, CB, S Offense QB. Flacco / Mallett LT. Stanley. /. Wesley?? RT. Hurst ?? /. draft rookie C. Urschel. / draft rookie RG. Yanda. / Jensen LG. A.Lewis /. Jensen RB. Woodhead/ Dixon/ West/ Allen / Talafiero TE. Pitta / Watson / Boyle / Williams / Waller / Gilmore WR1. M. Wallace. / C.Moore WR2. Perriman./. draft rookie Slot. Campanaro / Reynolds Needs RT, WR, C, G Probably will need get 8 players via draft & FA.
  5. Agreed 100%. Why would Ravens decide to pay for Matthews, when they can just draft talented WR.
  6. Wow. Didn't see this one coming, but I think I like it. Definitely better deal than signing Claiborne. Kudos to Ozzie, again.
  7. I somewhat agree price for Butler would be just too high for us, considering trading our 1st pick. unless If we could get 3rd rounder from them and that's not gonna happen. With regards to Claiborne, Even with your proposed deal, Im still not sold on him. If we exhausted all other possibilities, then, maybe yes. I actually found even better option than getting Butler. Darelle Revis for 1yr deal, Ravens keep 1st round pick.
  8. I hear your point but tend to disagree a bit. Dickson was starter before Pitta took over and we were using both of them, which played to our advantage and they both made important catches in Superbowl. I agree about the safety issues, I myself was hoping we get McCourty and Pat's sbatched him out and then Gronk, yes, that sucked. As far as Butler proposal, I wouldn't offer him anything more than 1yr deal no more than 10 mil, but we both know Saints will trump that tomorow, so that's mute point. It's interesting because he makes 3.6 mil playing for NE and we have folks on here talking about giving Claiborne 15mil/3yr. deal is not bad. Not bad, really? Look, I'm tired of loosing games in last 2 mins playing prevent defense which prevents us from winning. This team should be 12-4 team, but as long as we have leak on left side of our secondary, we be somewhere between 8-8 and 7-9.
  9. Hard to tell, but I think he is looking for long term deal. Probably more than we gave Sharece Wright. And I don't know if that's the route we want to take. Sure, he could be very good when completely healthy, but when was the last time he was 100% ? Could we bring back Jeraud Powers, who is familiar with our system? Would that be better option? Or Lardarius Webb? I would love to have Webby back, but who knows what it would take to make it happen.
  10. We both agree we need to get 2 cornerbacks - one solid starter and one drafted in rounds 1-3. With that in mind Im not sold on Claiborne, maybe 1-2 yr. deal, if the price is right, which I doubt it. I would be more interested to know of possibly bringing in Darelle Revis and how much would it take so sign him for 1yr deal, while hopefully one of our rookies turns into gold.
  11. Come On, I never implied Ozzie Newsome was terrible. On contrary I think we got the best of the best GM. And one his best deals came in 2010 Draft when he TRADED RAVENS 1ST ROUND PICK No.25 to Denver Broncos. 2 years later Ravens were Superbowl Champions. What? Ozzie traded out of the 1st round? Yes, he did,.
  12. Reasonable thinking I can somewhat agree with. Picking a 1st rounder could be a crapshoot, you could get someone like Mosley or someone like Elam, who knows? We need immediate impact starter and that might take year or two. Or we might get lucky, but I think it's really 50/50 odds. If I was gonna trade the 1st rounder for Butler I would certainly want their 3rd rounder as well. But it seems as he will be signing with Saints for their 1st rounder on Thursday, so it's a mute point. I'm still not sold on spending boatload of money on injury prone Claiborne. 1 year prove-it deal maybe.
  13. OK. if you read my statement, I said what Aaron Rodgers did to Cowboys secondary. Claiborne wasn't there, because he was hurt. I was referring to Rodgers who we will be playing against this season. Facts Butler, 27, played all 16 games plus playoffs in last 3 seasons. 2 Superbowl rings, Suoerbowl game wiining play against Seahawks, but twisted his ankle on one play against Atlanta, BTW, shut them down rest of the game, and won, again. Claiborne, 27, never played full 16 games in 5 seasons. No playoff experience. So, in this scenario, Ravens in a tight playoff game up by a point, in the 4 the quarter, with 2 min on the clock and opposing team NE has the ball, who do I want? I want Jimmy Smith as my CB1,, Tavon Young inside covering Edelnan slot and on the other side CB2 Malcolm Butler, playmaker, covering lacrosse player name Hogan to prevent him from scoring TD on us. Call me what you want, but I'm old school, and I use 2000 Ravens Superbowl Greatest Defense of NFL as measuring stick. So, with that mindset, Yes, I might be considered too critical. I also understand the price of Butler versus Claiborne, but I also understand what it takes to build Championship Caliber defense.
  14. After I've seen what Eli did when Tavon was covering Beckham Jr, Yes I push 4 Butler. After I've seen what Aaron Rodgers did to Cowboys secondary, Yes I push Butler over Claiborne.
  15. Big picture factor Like it or not, the Road to Superbowl goes through New England, So there is a strong possibility Flacco and our WR's will be going against Gilmore & Butler. Brady's bunch against Ravens Jimmy Smith(if healthy) and maybe? Claiborne? (if healthy). I don't like our odds, Imagine this scenario. Somehow Ravens pry Butler away from NE and we could have Flacco & Co. going against Gilmore & whoever/rookie? Brady & Co. going against Smith & Butler. Much better odds, like it a lot. That is the point I'm trying to get a cross. Not only Butler is better than Claiborne, but we also weaken our rival by this move.
  16. We have 2 starting corners, really? Smith and who, Young? Don't get me wrong, I like Young, but I like him much better as Nickelback covering slot receiver, than being on outside trying to cover OBJ or some 6'5 WR in the red zone. Sorry, but we dont't have solid CB2 on the roster, f Smith gets hurt, then we have Arrington & Canady. Folks, this season we play games against Packers, Lions, their QB's would pick us apart without strong cornerbacks.
  17. Offensive Line would be issue, so as WR's group, but the biggest and weakest link is Cornerback. Folks, opposite side of Jimmy Smith was always open. Yes, that side of Wright, Young or whoever we plugged in - that's where the TD's got scored on us. And when Smith got hurt it got worse. We started over compensating for him using safety help and our run defense suffered. Sure, we need more effective pass rush, but we still need Cornerback who doesn't give the 10 yard cushion on every play.
  18. Well, Saints are courting Butler for visit and are willing to trade their 1st rounder(#11). Contrary to the popular and based on Ravens history of 1st round picks in the past few years, trading our #16 for Butler would help the team with revolving door at cornerback position. It would solidify the weakest spot on this defense now, not few years later, when Sizzle be retiring. I certainly believe we should draft CB in this draft, but we don't have to use the 1st rounder. Remember Elam, Cody, Kindle, all of those were drafted by Ravens in 1st round. The fact is, our 2nd, 3rd & 4th rounders made more impact and some turned into Pro Bowlers. Remember, we drafted CB.Webb in 3rd and Seahawks drafted Sherman in 5th?
  19. Here's the deal Ravens get CB Malcolm Butler Patsies get Ravens 1st rounder (#16) and the bag of properly inflated footballs.
  20. Let's face the fact, if Ravens want to make a great Playoff run, they will have to beat New England. Is our secondary better than Atlanta's? If there is someone who can pick Brady off, it would be a Cornerback who knows him very well like Malcolm Butler. Or even old man Darelle Reevis.
  21. Well, there are some who believe 1) Ravens select CB in 1st round 2) That CB will have so much talent and grasp on the playbook to become an immediate starter. 3) And also playmaker to make it Pro Bowl. OK, let's look at the facts 1) How many Ravens 1st rounders turn into Pro Bowls in last 5-6 years? 2) How many DB's drafted in 1st round made Pro Bowl in their 1st year? 3) Could Ravens draft highly talented CB in 2nd or 3rd round? So with that in mind, what would be best for the team in 2017?
  22. We need clear starter next to Jimmy Smith. I don't know if Claiborne is the answer. I think we have plenty of depth CB's, but not a clear Solid Shutdown Corner. And even if we draft talented one, how long before he could make an impact? What we need is someone like Malcolm Butler.
  23. To be the Top Defense in 2017 Ravens need Shutdown Corner. Besides #22 Jimmy Smith, Ravens do not have elite cornerback. I would like to see Eric DeCosta & Ozzie Newsome to try to make a deal on Patriots CB Malcolm Butler. We know Pat's traded away their 1st rounder to NO, so their first pick will be at #64. I see an opportunity for Ravens here. Could we make a deal to trade our 1st rounder for Butler? Could we make our secondary better than Seahawks or Broncos?
