pounding the table isn't necessarily demanding the ravens draft a guy, but making a firm stance that a player will be excellent.

Couldn't I make a firm stance that Garrett, Allen, or Adams will be excellent, even if the Ravens can't draft them?

The correct term would be corps, but I guess you could also say wr core, as in the star wr. Ex. "I hope that Breshad Perriman will be the core of the wr corps."

They told him the record was something absurd... like 20-30 minutes.... and I can't settle on whether they were testing his competitive nature - his desire to improve/try and beat the record -- or seeing if he was easily manipulated to do something stupid against his will. 

Maybe both.
