Takes BPA to another level.

I'm 100% on board with Barnett, it's just not likely according to most mocks.
Let's get rush, CB, WR and OL with the first 4 picks.
I think Foster, Barnett, and Davis (hopefully overshadowed by Ross' 40) have the biggest chances at sliding to us. That's not to say it's a good chance, but I could see one falling a bit.
Just now, Sun Zulu said:As long as he doesn't let anyone do what Odell did to him that one night in New Jersey...
Everyone has bad games (easy to happen against Odell it seems) but he's managed to remain a solid/average starter throughout his career as well as never missing/not starting in one. He'll do well or we let an early draft pick fill in.

I agree with both of you but I still don't think either will be the pick at 16
I'm not too sure it happens either. Now that we have Carr that's even more reason to go BPA, and I think we could get a good slider. If no one slides, that's when I think we go Humphrey, Tim Williams, or maybe trade back (could go Robinson or Lamp but I don't know where they're projected).

Yeah I saw that back when we signed him. He definitely made the right move lol.
Just now, cobrajet said:I think he is a better player than Claiborne. I was not a fan of us signing Claiborne.
This is definitely the safer route, and I think it was the better move. No injury history, sure he's not the youngest guy, but he can hold down the position till we let them come in. Also easy to get out of if he can't perform.

LOL seems like every year is a "building year" to them.
2 minutes ago, ALSKAN RAVEN FAN said:One thing this deal does is open up options if Oz and the Ravens want to they can keep Carr for up to 4 years but if they want to they can opt out at any time from the way the deal sounds so more options moving forward is always nice.
That's why I like this move. I don't see us losing. We're still going to take an early CB, maybe even 2, so even if Carr becomes the next Wright we just don't take the second (or whenever he drops off) year and we start a rookie.

I agree. Conley gets overshadowed by Malik Hooker and Lattimore despite being a good corner, and I don't know why Humphrey gets a bad rap, he'd fit us nicely.
37 minutes ago, Yatagarasu said:When did we became a big player in free agency?
As long as Carr performs better than Wright, we should be fine.
I guess we aren't double dipping in CBs in the draft after all.
However, it worries me that the OT position in the draft is very thin on talent. It's Ramczyk and Robinson, and then a huge drop-off with projects.
I think it's still a very big possibility that we grab two CBs in the draft.
4 minutes ago, sflegend89 said:I don't consider that unit anywhere near ready to roll, they were anemic last year and have only gotten worse thus far. Let's really break this down so far:
Pros:
Retained Marty: Is that really a distinct plus? Many wanted him gone. I'm willing to give him a chance with a full offseason to prepare and build but I think this is more of a question mark rather than a plus as of right now.
Greg Roman: This move I like. Going in the right direction of re-establishing a viable run game
Cut Zuttah: While his performance was underwhelming, he was a middle of the pack Center, could certainly have had worse. Is Urschel really an immediate upgrade if that's the direction we go, I'm not convinced of that. Could spend a mid-late round pick (Possibly on a Guard who could fill in there) but there but the apparent upgrade at that position remains to be seen right now.
Woodhead: Could be a sold contributor but he's 30+ coming off an ACL
Cons:
- Lost SSS, our best leader on offense, our ball winner in go-to situations, great blocker, brought tremendous fire and accountability to the unit
- Lost Wagner, one of the best RT's in football, that's a huge hole to fill
- Lost Juice, great lead blocker and pass catcher, super versatile, trending upwards in production
We still have more FA opportunities, we still have the draft. I'm willing to give this FO adequate time to make the type of moves that need to be made to actually improve this unit. But as of right now with the cons outweigh the pros in terms of significance, the unit is far from ready to roll. They weren't ready to roll when they still had a future HOF'er, elite RT, and best FB in the league.
Keep in mind our lack of offensive identity last year. Hopefully (and it seems like) we're trying to go back to the run game, which many assume is the reason we cut Zuttah. It's still way too early to judge either way.

He's not the most articulate and isn't a great speaker by any means but one thing I really like from this was his honesty. He seems to own up for his troubled past (which is just smoking weed). He also seems humble and knows what he has to do to succeed in the NFL. Either that or he's a really good BSer
As for not answering the question "how many drug tests have you failed" that doesn't bother me because teams know that answer and that's not something he should let the media know for obvious reasons
Plus I know I also joked about it but I figure I'll beat everyone to the punch. It was his friend that sold out Mr. Chicken not Tim himself. But besides that I think he could possibly be a Raven, that's of course relying on the board and having Barnett not slide.
2 minutes ago, ravensnation5220 said:Lol ya you shoudve been here when we first talked about it. There were too many puns to count.
Fyi I think Brandon chicken might be a street name for Matt Elam lol
LOL that suits him well

Yeah I think we have a lot to go to definitively say that we'll be throwing guys wherever we have needs but I think we'll work with what we got/get the best we can.
3 minutes ago, ravensnation5220 said:Yes absolutely agree with you there. Especially on dalvin cook. I think that animal abuse citation is what keeps him off our board as well. Fyi I'm bout to post Tim Williams combine interview on the media mock thread. Check it out and let me know your opinion
Nice. I'm excited to see all the Brandon Chicken jokes.
2 minutes ago, January J said:Joe and Perriman need a full training camp together. This will do wonders for them both as far as timing- etc. If he stays healthy-( a big IF I know) I GUARENTEE you perriman will have a breakout 1000 yd. Season. He's not just a one trick pony- he has the potential to be a true number one. Work on the concentration drops- which I think ppl had overblown anyway- and work on his rapport with Joe and he can make a major impact with wallace demanding attention on the other side. They could be a great 1-2 punch. A lot of their success is riding on the running game though.. A strong running game will open things up down feild for perriman , Wallace and Moore. Moore was a huge disappointment for me last season- but I still believe he can be great too. He's more of a one trick pony who will burn guys running a straight line downfeild. Wallace and Perriman will both work slants across the middle and you can pick your poisen. All we need to add is 1 big body chain mover. I know it sounds cliche but a reunion with Boldin really does make a lot of sense and will cost us peanuts. Then if we can draft a nice wideout somewhere in the top 3 rounds we will be looking at a pretty strong corps. And that's not including our tight ends. I expect crock to also have a major resurgence now that he's healthy. Boyle can do it all and wallers size /speed combo is a huge mismatch problem. We know what we have in pitta who is joes safety blanket- the only ? Mark is maxx Williams- who has been somewhat of a letdown after having high hopes for him. It takes awhile for tight ends to develop- but the transition to the NFL seems to have been too much for him. He seemed out of shape and gets injured often. we were laughin up a storm when we jacked him from Pittsburgh and they had to settle for Jesse James- well so far the jokes on us. Hopefully he proves us wrong and takes a big step this season- but honesty i just don't see it. We may even have to let him go.
We cant keep 5 tight ends- and right now I see it as :
1) Pitta
2) Crockett
3) Waller
4) Boyle
Watson is still on our roster as of now too- which appears to be a sure fire cut- but we may keep him around through camp incase of injury. You never know. I was excited about our running back situation - but now with Dixons suspension things get a little iffy. If west went down with injury-suddenly we're looking at woodhead as our starter. We may draft a rb higher than most ppl think.
People are exercising the idea of James Conner in the later rounds (6th I think). Haven't seen much of him, but if he's got potential then it wouldn't be terrible if we didn't have to use an early round pick on him.
5 minutes ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:I wouldnt say we havent replaced any of the offensive losses. It's clear to me they want a change of identity on offense, so it may not be like for like replacements, but there are options for replacing the production.
I see a combo of Perriman and Camp being the SSS replacements. Of course that requires faith that both will stay healthy, but the hope is with a TC Perriman takes the next step and instead of just being an occasional big play threat he becomes more of an overall threat and primary option. Camp becomes your underneath, move the chains guy with big YAC ability.
Not to mention the depth of TEs. I fully expect more use of multi TE sets. With Roman taking over as TE coach i expect one of his main tasks being to develop packages and game plans that will implement more of them and their unique skill sets. There's a reason they brought in a guy with as much experience as Roman and put him on TEs by title imo.
Woodhead is your Juice replacement. Great pass blocker, and likely a better option running the ball and catching. Lose some in run blocking, but theyre expecting to make up for that with a change in philosophy on the OL along with more size and push.
The OL is obviously the big question right now and thats fair. But, we've now seen several cost cutting moves in a row (Webb, taking away 2 RFA tenders, and Zuttah) without a correlating spend. There's a plan here. And they're confident in it. Either they're supremely confident that a guy like Wesley can step in at RT or Jensen/Skura can take over at C.... or we're going to see a move.
Im not worried about RT in the slightest. That will work itself out -- theres just so many ways we could go about it, whether Wesley, Hurst, Nembot just steps in, Yanda/Lewis kicks out and we upgrade at G, or FA/draft.
C to me is the issue that needs to be addressed. If they think Skura can step in and be an upgrade, then im confident until proven otherwise. They know more about him than i do certainly. If not, the plan will unfold.
Just requires some patience and trust.
I've heard of possibly making Jensen the center as a "mauler". Yeah it's way too early to count us out on anything, but it seems as though we're trying to get back to running the ball, in which I 100% support this new direction if so.
19 minutes ago, ravensnation5220 said:Ya I read it. Kinda fishy but you have to think we'd rather not worry about dealing with something like that. Besides I want some big corners from this year's draft.
Yeah not sure we'd be picking him up anyway
2 minutes ago, January J said:Dude its MARCH. our roster will look nothing like this. Tight ends and running backs will be cut when its time to trim down to 53...you need camp bodies incase of injury obviously. Also don't think we regretted letting forsett go- he did absolutely nothing with the lions and had minimal impact with denver. Was much wiser saving the money and giving the reps to the youngsters.
And I've heard people say that Boyle could be switched to FB too. Not sure how I feel about that though.
1 minute ago, ellicottraven said:Short answer I really don't know. But, my guess is the front office especially Eric DeCosta has a good sense of other team's rosters and is very adept at projecting where teams may make their cuts. So my guess is the Ravens are confident that the losses can very easily be supplemented with cuts from other teams or in the worst case scenario they've a trade situation figured out if neither cuts or the draft work out.
In Ozzie (& DeCosta) we trust
7 minutes ago, Purple_City39 said:Curious about a few things.
1. How is your first issue with Flacco that he doesn't run out of the pocket? He's a pocket passer, not a scrambling QB (although he can and has).
2. "he just tries to bomb it down field on almost every pass" - Did you spend last season watching old games from the Cam Cameron era??
3. How did you bring yourself to include Forsett in the 6 RBs comment while also mentioning that we "just" let him go (about half a year ago)
and 4. Why are we already judging our pick ups from the perspective that our roster is only dependent on the draft now?
2 minutes ago, ellicottraven said:I believe the Ravens have a clear plan that we aren't privy to. I am baffled at the move with no corresponding move to supplement the loss. So here's my theory. Either the Ravens believe they're going to get somebody from another team in a trade or have intelligence that a certain player is a potential cut they can target, it is weird. I don't think either Urschel or Jensen are upgrades to Zuttah. In fact an argument can be made they're downgrades. The offense is essentially empty. No replacements for SSS, Wagner, Juice and now Zuttah. We'll see what moves they make over the next few days...
'
You think this makes us more likely to overpay someone if we're looking for someone that could get cut? I only say so because we might not want to leave empty handed after relying on no one else picking them up.
2 hours ago, Purple&Black#20 said:I agree!!! Especially about how horrible flacco is. I don't understand how so many people on here believes he's a good quarterback.
The problem is we think he can become at the very least a decent QB if we just surround him with some guys. Nobody thinks he's Brady, but if we give him a good O-line and some guys to throw to I don't see him struggling near as much. A running game would help greatly, but that goes back to the O-line.
