I am getting a vibe though that we catch a break this year and catch a slider. I think it will be either Foster or Barnett. Mark my words it will be one of those two.
If they are gone though, I have a feeling Tim Williams or Marlon Humphrey will be the pick.
I like every situation you've brought up here. I just really don't want us to go offense first round unless they're a game breaker.

I'm not sure that we take Jones at all. Teams with better secondaries can spare to have him miss a chunk of games, or maybe his whole rookie season, but I think we're looking for someone that could be an immediate starter if need be. I see us filling another need in the second round (probably where he'll drop to).

Reminder that Chad Kelly GOT ARRESTED BECAUSE HE GOT THROWN OUT OF A CLUB AND THREATENED TO COME BACK WITH HIS AK TO SHOOT THE PLACE UP. Dede Westbrook has multiple DV arrests. No thanks. Lamp and Lawson are great picks. Props for those.
Kelly especially won't get drafted by us. We've got more things to address than someone that won't be BPA at the time anyway. Not hating on Kelly, but there's better picks and character concerns are the last thing we need.

Get on it Weddle!
5 minutes ago, Cillmatic said:Ross runs very good routes. The problem with him is his durability.
True. I didn't mean to phrase it as harping on his route running, but I question physicality.
28 minutes ago, reed20 said:Looks like Morris Claiborne is expected to come over and provide some depth. We're looking good.
Great player. He's young, but plagued with injuries. As much as he will improve the secondary, I don't like the chance of re-injuring himself. What do you think this does to the draft situation? One less urgent matter for the draft, but I'm not sure if we look for a game-breaker, address another need, or still go with an early corner with the depth.
9 minutes ago, ravensnation5220 said:Ya my top guys so far are barnett, foster and davis/Williams. If none of them are there I wouldn't mind trading back and still getting someone good like lamp, Humphrey, Riddick or peppers. But I wouldn't be mad if we took them at 16 if we were worried someone would take them after we trade back.
What WR do you think we take if we can't get Davis?
14 hours ago, LeeHinAlexandria said:I like John Ross (WR) if the Ravens go offense - Jabrill Peppers is intriguing pick on D at number #16 as well.
I don't like John Ross for us. Wallace and Perriman are speed receivers, but I hope we take someone with more of a possession/route running skill set (I feel like we can wait to take a WR anyway). As for Jabrill Peppers, if we're going BPA it's a viable option (but then it depends on who's left on the board), but the holes at CB, O-line, edge, and WR I feel are more urgent therefore I don't see it. Wouldn't hate to have Peppers though, freak of an athlete that could take over for Weddle once he retires.
1 minute ago, JoeyFlex5 said:I'd be ok with it depending on who's there. Jones, Wilson, white, peppers, taco, Harris, Humphrey, Robinson, Ross, id be ok with reddick over any of them. This dude could really be one of the special players out of this class
He good on the edge? Really don't know anything about him.
9 minutes ago, January J said:Just curious how tall is Chidobe and Ford?
From what I see Chidobe's 6'0" and Ford's 6'2". Not sure where numbers come from though.
4 minutes ago, ravensnation5220 said:Of course we can still take him. I see no problem having 3 safeties who can play at a high level. Peppers can contribute on special teams as well.
I mean the cardinals (tony Jeffersons old team) used 4 safeties regularly. It would definitely make our defense a lot faster. Peppers can also learn behind weddle while still contributing in some way.
He's definitely got skills, no doubting that. I guess it really matters whether we go BPA or what we really need, but I look at it as we have O-line (especially after FAs run dry, and talent dwindles in later rounds), WR, edge, and CB to address in the draft. If we do pick him up, I have no doubt he'll be a contributor.

I'm not sure if this has been covered recently, but is there any chance of drafting Peppers even after signing Jefferson? I've been a big fan of Peppers, more so off the field than on. Just watched another video that I think shows a lot about his character, especially with what he has gone through. From what I have seen he is just such an exciting player that really can command and lead wherever he's put. Only one interception is what a lot of people tend to focus on but this guy is pretty exciting to watch.
I don't see it happening, but I'm nowhere near an expert. Not to make this entire thread about Humphrey, but as I said I think he could transition to safety when Weddle retires if need be pretty well (which Peppers would just be picked up to have a replacement for Weddle at least for now). That gives us a CB now and a safety in the future if our situation flips then. I like Peppers but I don't think he'll be BPA or a big need for such a valuable pick.
3 minutes ago, allblackraven said:Williams is still better as a pure pass rusher but I'd take Anderson over him any time. Complete player, dude is a monster. He is my favourite player in the entire draft this year.
Projected second rounder too from what I see. I like his ability as a pass rusher and dropping back in coverage (something Tim doesn't do), also has confidence and a certain hatefulness on the field, good attitude. And unlike Tim, no character concerns (all be it manageable).
On 2/28/2017 at 11:38 AM, Willbacker said:I'm probally the only one that thinks Ryan Anderson is the better edge coming out of Bama.
Criminally underrated to say the least. Not sure if I could call Anderson or Williams better than the other, purely off of the fact that I've only watched film of Williams
4 minutes ago, allblackraven said:There is virtually nothing left in O line free agency and we are short of RT, thin at center and guard position is becoming very important with Yanda's age. I'm almost sure one of the early picks would be offensive lineman.
Yeah, I forgot about O line entirely in this post. Kinda weak in this draft. I like Robinson switching to guard and Lamp is flexible but once you get to the later rounds and it starts to dwindle rapidly. I didn't account for comp pick, I'm pretty sure Claiborne is still available in FA, so that would make CB have a lot less value if we get him. I also don't see WR as more important than O line at this point as well as having many potential late round studs. But I like to talk about defense so I'm biased
2 minutes ago, allblackraven said:It will all depend on how draft starts unfolding. I expect early run on either edge guys or corners but short of any big surprises, we should be able to get a good one in 2nd round.
OK. If that's the case, I see us going with a WR in the third, edge and CB most likely the bigger points to address.
2 minutes ago, Davesta said:I'm all in on marlon Humphrey if we go cb in the 1st. Although I still think we can get a solid on with our 2nd pick, and leave the 1st for a pass rusher / One of the 2 top WR. I really hope we don't reach for someone like tabor
I haven't really looked into pass rushers past round 1, how far back do you think we can spare to go? As for a first round wr, I feel like we could sacrifice going second or third round to get a pass rusher earlier.
50 minutes ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:You could check out his game against Ball St, Buffalo or Ohio his senior season.
If you want to see him playing well against top college talent check his games again Michigan State in 2015 and 2013 his junior and freshman seasons respectively.
What's the latest you could see Davis taken? Some say skipping the combine could drop his stock.
2 minutes ago, BmoreBird22 said:Trust me when I say they use quite a bit of zone for the entire game. It's really pretty stark how often they use it, but it's not an easy thing to differentiate because all zone will contain man concepts depending on the routes being run.
But in any case, I like Humphrey a lot. I think he checks every box physically you want and Jimmy had the same issues of turning his head when he realized he couldn't win on his physical traits alone. I think Humphrey has a very high ceiling.
(I know I stated this before, but I've watched some film since) I also like how he's not afraid of making a tackle, something I saw a lack of in Sidney Jones. Got the size and speed we need at an outside corner but needs to work on fluidity, I've seen him get burnt for not using his hips. I still think safety is an option in the future if need be.
8 minutes ago, allblackraven said:I didn't have much time to watch many college players this year but I've done pretty detailed homework on Alabama players.
I think Stewart is the best kept secret this year as far as receivers go. Can be used out of backfield, deep, in the middle. Great hands, OK routes, extra gear, makes tough catches and produces lot of YAC. Solid returner, too.
Underrated speed too. Need someone to contrast speed receivers like Wallace and Perriman, and Stewart's a physical guy. I like him, but he might miss Ozzie's radar as well (I kinda doubt it given Bama connection though).
3 minutes ago, ravensnation5220 said:We're going bpa. So it could be a pass rusher or a receiver. I could see Derek Barnett fall because of his combine and Corey Davis fall because he never had a pro day or combine. A lot of others helped themselves and that could push those 2 down. The ravens wouldn't pass on either player with their production. Corner is deep and we can add one in the 2nd or 3rd round. Would still have great value there.
True. I still mostly think of pre-combine draft scenarios that I've looked into, but I'm not sure what players are the most likely to fall to us that were projected earlier given combine results. I don't think that many bpa picks wouldn't fill a hole anyway (many good edge, cb, and wr), given who is expected to be picked around the time we're on the board, but you never know.
12 minutes ago, allblackraven said:He declared early because he got 2nd round grade from NFL
Oh ok. The only websites I could find talking about him as a prospect didn't mention where he was projected. Maybe he still goes under the radar, but I'm doubtful.
9 minutes ago, allblackraven said:Yesterday, hurt at his pro day
Man, hate to see that. I don't see us taking him anymore, considering he'll probably fall to second round, which I assume we'll use on a WR, then use our first for another CB that can start immediately.
16 minutes ago, PurpleCity5 said:This is going to be a very tough draft, I don't know if I want to select a CB over a WR.
I think we're definitely going with CB in the first, considering how much we suffer when Jimmy goes down. Still think we get a WR early, but it won't impact the offense as much as the CB will the defense until we fix our o line problem.

That's exactly who I was expecting us to take too. Sucks that he's a great player that then goes down at his pro bowl. As I said, he'll still get picked up early, but even if we pick up Claiborne both him and Smith could give us nightmares with possible injuries with no replacement at proper size. Being a Bama fan I'd love to see Marlon as a Raven but I didn't see this as being a reason as to possibly picking him up.
