  1. The biggest need is CB then OL hands down. I would then say pass rusher and WR. We never had a great WR anyway, we will pick up a veteran anyway. We need to allow the young guys a chance to play. Give Perriman, Moore, Cap chances before we bring in more WR.

We need a top flight CB. I like Humphrey personally. We also need quality depth at not only corner, but all over the secondary. Get rid of Wright, Arrington, Powers was on a one year deal, and Lewis. I would give Webby another year then, he needs to be gone.

I think we have quality depth at pass rusher, we just need a top flight pass rusher.

  2. Dennison would be a great addition. I like having some guys who have actually been OCs and understand the adjustments that need to be made during the game. Also not just veterans, but guys who have been good at their crafts. For that reason, Dennison, Roman and Marty should perform much better next year in making adjustments to what defenses are throwing at us.

We need to let Wagner and Williams walk. We have been consistently drafting good players along that D-line. Carl Davis, Jernigan, Pierce, Urban, Guy, Henry, Kafusi, and I'm sure more to come can make up that slack. I like Lewis at RT because I think we need to get bigger at LG and C to run better. They will bring comp picks next year anyway.

  3. The Ravens will have 4 picks in the first three rounds and depending on the board, they made use capital to trade up into the 3rd round again. I like getting 2 D backs, a corner and a safety or two corners, a pass rusher and a lineman. There is no reason at all that corner and lineman shouldn't be addressed in the first 3 rounds. We should get a great player, because this draft is packed with corners.

Secondly, I don't think anyone of our players need to be resigned if they are going to be anywhere near the highest paid in their position. I saw B Williams get pushed around on multiple occasions in multiple games. Wagner is solid, but doesn't deserve to be paid like a star. Juice will be the exception since he is a true fullback, but he shouldn't cost as much as the other free agents.

  4. I like the hiring of Greg Roman if he controls the type of runs. Joe needs to be more under center. The runs out of the shotgun kill me. We run it too much out of the shotgun. We need to run more iso, off tackle and counter. We need to run less stretch plays. That also includes upgrading the O-line with a more physical guard and center. Roman will remind the staff about the lineman on the 49ers and those great run schemes.

  5. Steve has been the same calculating guy since he purchased the team. He gives a long leash. He gives his team all the resources they need to complete their objectives. That leaves a "no excuse" position for the front office and coaches. It is admirable to a point. I want him to think more critically about why we are mediocre and demand better. Reading between the lines, I think he did that. John will be out next season, if we aren't better unless we are injury plagued.

  6. “Here’s a fourth-round pick that played the way he did at corner, which is a very tough position,” Harbaugh said. “Can you imagine not having him this year?”

At least you can see that the other corners we have are<plays like garbage> garbage and their is no reason that we shouldn't invert is quality corners.

I like this draft because we found a perennial All-Pro at LT and a perennial Pro-Bowler at RT. I like Lewis to play at RT. We should let Wagner go. I think we are going to give him too much money and he is mediocre IMO. I think we need a nasty guard and center to bring back a dominate run game. Lewis can play anywhere on the line, but I think we can get tougher at that left guard spot.

  7. I think we can eat Doom's contract for one more year. This is his last year, he should be healthy. Even if we draft another pass rusher in the 1st 3 rounds (which there is no reason we shouldn't) you can never have enough rushers. He along with Sizzle, Judon, Smith a drafted rookie can be a rush package for 3rd and long. Having depth at that position makes sense to me.

We can cut the trio of D-backs, because there is no reason to keep them. We need to retool that secondary and that starts with drafting 2 corners and a S in the 1st 5 rounds. Preferably a CB in the 1st and 3rd and drafting a safety in the 4th or 5th. Also get some undrafted DBs.

I don't know what you do with Pitta. He is the only reliable TE (as far as catching the ball) we have. We don't know what Watson will bring. Hopefully Maxx Williams shows great strides this off season after being red-shirted this season. Can Gillmore come back healthy? Will Waller be more consistent? We have plenty of options at TE, but are any reliable?

yet another poster here living in the past.  You mean to tell me Mosely isnt as good as Ray Lewis....maybe you should be the new GM, nothing gets past you

If the status quo remains (it looks like it will with this regime), the past is all we have.

Orr and Mosley played exceptional and I actually think that is our solid unit. The team will admire their play and try to play as hard as them. But if you are ever playing on a team, there is nothing more that gets you fired up then a rah rah leader that commands the attention of the team. It makes players want to run through walls and I'm hoping we find that guy amor he emerges from our roster.

I agree. You need that rah, rah guy at times and it is missing from this unit. Also he can be a sounding board for the coach and direction of the team. Guys don't always want to hear the "go get 'em" speech from the coach, sometimes you need to hear it from the guy on the field across from you. Guys like that raise the level of play of the entire team, help gets the crowd involved, etc. We will find that guy in this draft.

Couple of things here and other posters have pointed some of what I have to say out already.

First of all, I should certainly hope this defense is better than it was in 2015 when almost every starter on the team was on IR. So I would attribute a lot of the defense's improvement to simply having the healthy bodies back. Before 2015 Pees' defenses have ranked no less than 12th and I think as high as 3rd in that Superbowl run.

Secondly, stats just show you numbers. They don't show the whole story. The Ravens defense was very stingy...until the game was on the line later in the 4th quarter. How many times did we see this defense nearly shut out a team for a half or three quarters only to blow the lead giving up chunks of big plays in the second half or fourth quarter?

Third, while getting a starting caliber and starting cornerback would be nice, what we really need to do is address the elephant in the room. That would be two 30 something edge rushers coming off of major injuries and an interior pass rush that's all but vanished from sight. Jernigan did what he always does, shows a flash for a couple games and then he disappears. The D-line wore down at the end of the season and late in games. You can have the best secondary in the game and they aren't going to be able to cover receivers for more than 5-6 seconds...unless you are playing against the Ravens receivers....but that's a different topic.

So this defense had some issues other than Jimmy Smith getting hurt, which is a recurring trend now mind you. We need disruptive edge rushers again and a beast up the middle. Brandon Williams is a very good player, but I think the emergence of a player like Pierce plus the chance to see a healthy Carl Davis and Willie Henry are what we need to improve up front.

I have to disagree to a certain point. We do need to address the aging pass rushers, but we have spent capital shoring up the front seven with players you mentioned and others and drafting linebackers Z. Smith, Judon, Correa. (I know neither have been in impact player, because of the way we draft different topic). The issue down the stretch was teams spreading the Ravens out and running the ball not necessarily wearing them down. During the first half of the season, teams were running their base offense and trying to power through the front seven which didn't work. Starting with New England and definitely with Philly, they used 4 wide sets and ran at the Ravens. During the same time when Jimmy went down, the Ravens wanted to keep the safety back to stop the big gains, allowing teams to run against a soft and spread 6 man box. If the Ravens brought a safety down, usually Weddle, the corners would play very soft and give up chunk plays.

The Ravens need better quality corners more than pass rushers IMO. Our corners can't cover for 2-3 seconds let alone 5-6 seconds. They play too far off and still get beat. They are not good which is why they play so far off. The pass rush is decent, but the receivers are open as soon as they get off the line of scrimmage. The Ravens have to spend real capital in the secondary instead of throwing money at cast-offs from other teams (Will Hill, Arrington, K. Lewis, Powers, Wright).

Ozzie blew it big time in last year's draft. He had a chance to shore up one of the most important positions on the team and did nothing. Jalen Ramsey was the con-census top DB in the draft last year. His play this season only re-enforced that. Rumor had it that Ozzie called Dallas and tried to jump ahead of Jacksonville in order to take Ramsey but Ozzie abandoned the idea when Dallas wanted their 3rd pick. He refused to do it and Jacksonville took Ramsey 5th pick in the draft. Now I am not saying that Stanley will not be a long term answer at left tackle but it is harder to find a top DB than a pretty good offensive tackle.

    james hurst starting at LT.

having no answer in sight for next year.

    try to imagine it...

we made the right choice. LT is a far more important position than CB. and that last statement is just not true, most of the best corners in the league are not drafted anywhere near the top 10, they tend to come in the late teens and much later. lets take a look...

chris harris jr(popular pick for best cb in the nfl) - undrafted

    josh norman - 5th round

    malcolm butler - undrafted

    ronald darby - 2nd round

    jason verrett - 25th overall

    brandon flowers - 2nd round

    jonathan joseph - 24th overall

    janoris jenkins - 2nd round

    richard sherman - 5th round

    xavier rhodes - 2nd round

    marcus peters - 18th overall

    brent grimes - undrafted

you get the point. of all the top corners in the league, you have pat pete and jalen ramsey taken in the top 10, guys like trae waynes and vh3 who were taken very high have been considered disappointments thus far. meanwhile ronnie stanley was the leagues top rated LT the final month of the season and we started 3-0 with him and proceeded to go 0-4 without him. he should have been deep in the convo for ravens MVP along with jimmy and tucker. left tackles are far more valuable and much harder to find.

I think Stanley was a great pick and it matched with our need. We have the 16th pick in the 1st round, 2nd round and most likely two 3rd round picks. There is no reason we don't come away with one of the better pass rushers and top corners in this draft. Personally I like Harris from Mizzou as a pass rusher.

I agree with Einsberg that corner is a pressing need. In my opinion we need a corner more than a pass rusher. We have decent and young pass rushers. We have one good corner in Jimmy and one young corner in Young, (he is a slot corner). We need another outside corner. Also intriguing is Jamal Adams, he can be a hybrid that would be great to pair with Weddle and to cover TEs.

We need to look at impact players and guys that we will leaders on the field.

  12. He definitely "Play(ed) Like A Raven" in the true sense. He brought the toughness, tenacity and fight. We always need that here. It is a part of the culture started by Ray Lewis and carried on by Sizzle. The guys Ozzie brought in embodied that spirit (Boldin, Pollard D. Mason). We need to draft it again instead of getting from players at the end of their careers and being sad when they leave and take it with them. You have to draft bullies to change the culture here. The players we have are good, but IMO they are a little soft (Mosley, B. Williams, Perriman).

It was tough seeing the offense this year. After promising not to mess with Kubiak's system, Trestman basically killed the zone run scheme that the O line had worked so hard to learn and master, and had Flacco go out of the shotgun many times. And let's face it: Justin Forsett was not that great a RB, he was just the latest in a series of mediocre backs who looked like pro bowlers behind Kubiak's run schemes! (how many times has Kube done this now?) And Flacco, despite all the legitimate excuses like inconsistent protection, slow receivers, etc. still had some pretty bad individual performances. It's clear more than ever that he is unable to read blitzes and make corrections at the line. (did he do an audible all year?) This doesn't make him a bad QB, but it does mean that the OC has to do a lot of work to get the right play out to him.

Agree that pass rush is a big need. Bisciotti said so last year, and he'll probably say it again this year if asked. I am very glad we got Ronnie, as I think he'll be a franchise player for us for a long time. And considering all the Bosa drama, I'm not sure he would have been the right pick. But we need an edge rusher badly.

Not sure whether receiver is a need, or whether it's a system issue. I think Pitta, Gilmore, Boyle, Perriman and Wallace (and grudgingly, maybe even Campanaro) make a good corps if we can get a consistent system going.

Ozzie always says he can never have enough cornerbacks. Smith is great when healthy and Tavon Young was a nice surprise, so I would hate to see us take a CB with the #16 pick because I'd imagine all the top CB talent would be gone by then.

Pass rusher and corner is deep this year so many teams will adopt the "we will capitalize on the depth" later approach meaning they will pass on the position in the first to grab other areas of need.

Realistically we need to take one of the two unless for some crazy reason mike Williams or Fournette make their way to us.

With Garrett and Allen being long gone we hopefully land one of he following pass rushers; Williams from Bama, Harris from Missouri; Barnett from Tennessee; or, CB Sidney Jones from Washington or King from Iowa. I also like Wilson from Florida.

I like Harris from Mizzu and Wilson from Florida, or Jones from Washington. Getting both guys would be awesome. Also we will probably get another 3rd rounder for Osemele leaving. We can use those picks for the a center and guard.

  14. We all agree that the offense needs explosive plays. The only problem I have is putting our players in position to take the ball the length of the field. Also I like West and I like Dixon more, but neither one of them can break a long run and take it to the house. They will always be caught from behind. I like Pitta, but he can break one either. Guys who can make someone miss and take it to the house are what I call playmakers. Wallace and Camp both have shown they can do it given the opportunity, but who else? Perriman maybe, but where's the consistency? He may not even catch the ball. We have to get playmakers!
