I agree. I was just starting to warm up to Jabrill Peppers and Budda Baker as early round prospects

If we'really signing Tony Jefferson does that mean that drafting a safety is out of the picture? Personally I think it does

I've got to be honest I can see both of these easily happening and I'm having a hard time deciding which is better.

Scenario 1:

1) Derek Barnett

2) Gareon Conley

Scenario 2:

1) Sidney Jones

2) Tim Williams 

I'd be more than happy to explain how and why I feel like these guys will be where I've designated them

The DB'same areally putting on a show today! I loved Sidney Jones as a first round pick for us, but dang now I need to consider Conley too. On top of that there are a bunch of other guys that are going to be garnering 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round consideration from me. I didn't want to mock too many DB's too us, but dang!

engram is like pitta meets ebron, the fact that he isnt being touted as a first rounder is just weird, hes a mismatch nightmare, hes a big bodied, savvy route running possession style receiver with the explosiveness to break one on any catch. he would probably see more targets, receptions, touchdowns, and YAC numbers than any wr/te on the roster as a rookie. i like howard a lot but im less sold on him because of the limited amount of actual playmaking on film by him, its almost entirely busted coverages, but the wingspan and speed are ridiculous. 

either of those guys would bring an element that joe has never had, it would be a statement move to say that were really trying to help joe

I think Howard's best assets are running the seams, outs, and deep in routes. Joe makes $110 mil. Because of those routes and how pitta ran them. Howard would do well on the line and I agree Engram can be special in terms of flexibility and YAC which makes him a dangerous weapon, but I'm still more in favor of bolstering the weak parts of our defense with this draft class.

I know Flex mentioned great instincts, but you don't have one total interception (in your last year, no less) and only 10 PD's by being instinctive in coverage. He's also not fluid enough to flex outside.

And in sub packages, you're going to sacrifice run defense with him.

I think what flex was getting at with that was just his traits. He really tried to highlight his strong safety traits of making good tackles, and really not letting ball carriers get by him in anyway. I think the Peppers could become a better Bernard Pollard. A kind of enforcer/energizer of the defense plus his great return skills. I have other prospects I'd take in the second but I can justify Peppers in the second. We don't need him to make the pick we need him to have his place in coverage so that OBJ and Chris Hogan don't go all the way for the TD on one play, we need him to help force a 3 and out late in the fourth quarter when we have the lead ala Oakland and Washington and pittsburgh.

I use these forums to get names of prospects, to get the consensus on prospects, to get the hot take of the most recent football events and to engage in interesting Ravens talk. I form my opinions on my own though. So when someone presents me with an opposite POV I check it out to see if it's true and then stand my ground or reform my opinion based on what I see. JoeyFlex told me he didn't like Siragusa. I asked what he was watching? Without waiting for a reply I went and did some more digging. That's all that happened

No, for Siragusa I had looked at his combine numbers and decided that he'd be worth investogating. I watched most of his film of Houston and he performed well. He showed up for his bowl game. But then I went and watched his film against San Jose state, Fresno state and Wyoming and he looks exactly how I described him. There's more film showing him being less than good and only one game showing him being good. So I had to change my opinion based on the evidence.

I think Kupp will be a good receiver. After measurements yesterday though I started to like Juju Smith again. I'm curious to see how he runs. I've known for a while now that the guy blocks like very few receivers can or are willing to, and he's got massive mitts and long arms. With some coaching he could become a terrific football player. I like him, and the Chris Godwin ran the 40 and that made me like Godwin even more. I'd take either or both if possible without ignoring CB and PR

I've been saying it for a little while now. Tim Williams is a great prospect. His run defense for me was the biggest question and he showed me against LSU that he can square up and do his job when asked to. As for off the field incidents he had no priors leading up to the gun thing and nothing came afterward. He had a gun that he had a permit for, but in Louisiana where he's from, not a permit for alabama. He might not have known the rules for guns and state lines. I've been saying he's a fantastic prospect that we should consider but in a trade back option. I've been thinking of picking him up in the 20's  and getting more picks

Actually to be honest after watching more of siragusa you're just about dead on. To me actually looks just plain lazy on some of the plays. I honestly think the guy has great potential to move. In open space he can run and move just fine, but for the duration of a play he looks so lazy and unathletic. So I'm not sure what to make of that. I did see him have plenty of good plays against Houston in his bowl game.

What film are you watching? So far I've seen him drive and move people of the ball, I've seen him fly up to the second level and at the very least chip linebackers, and I've seen him have a decent pass set where he mirrors defenders and keeps them between his legs. 

As far as lineman go, I've reviewed some film and matched it with some of the numbers from today's testing, and I've got to say Taylor Moton in the 2nd or 3rd and then Nico Siragusa in the 3rd or 4th will make for some great G/C types. Moton to me will be fantastic at gaurd and Siragusa to me will be fantastic at either Center or gaurd. Siragusa moves people in the run game but can struggle with pass pro sometimes because his feet can get heavy. We'll see what happens though

Hence why I'm saying T.J. Watt will be better. He'll be aS good if not better pass rushers than Krug and he'll be just as good if not better of a run defender than JJ was

Hes got ridiculous length, plays pretty refined with only a year starting under his belt, plays super strong for someone so long and lanky, good bend, great intensity, solid burst, I just think he's gonna end up a beast but I can't justify taking him at 16

Then don't. There's a decent chance he's there at our 2nd. The only problem I have with him is his core strength isnt very good which is common for taller guys. Other than that he'd be an extremely good player in baltimore. Much better version of Paul Kruger and even Jarret Johnson 

Interesting measureables for the defensive line and linebackers. Tak has got freaking wings man! Almost 35" arms. You might not like his skills bit he's got traits! Alot of the edge guys have lengthy arms which is very good to see

Pretty sure Cam Robinson and Forest Lamp have ensured that they'll be 1st rounders. I honestly can't see teams passing on them. They both interviewed well, benched well, ran well for their size. Unless they totally fail at drills (doubt they will) they'll be top 25 picks

Flex, I agree with the size component as well. Watching our secondary get abused by Dez Bryant was so frustrating and irritating to watch, and in the end there was nothing we could do. So yes I want size on top of some speed and athleticism. That indicates that I would take Quincy Wilson because he's not just tall, but he's got some mass to handle the thicker receivers (which is why I'm not as ihgh on S. Jones, but I still like him a ton). Back to the main point though I just don't know if desmond king at 5'10 or 5'11 will make that much of a difference than Tavon Young at the boundary corner spot. That's all I'm saying in relation to D. King along with his apparent lack of speed an athleticism (noted that you don't worry as much about that, it's still a concern of mine).

I understand what kind brings to the table. I still just have all of these last second plays in my mind where we were out of position or just not fast/athletic enough to stop the long touchdown pass, and I just can't get over kings lack of apparent athleticism (could completely change at combine). If we stop the one pats play to Hogan, the NYG play to OBJ, the two drives by OAK and PIT and we're a playoff team competing for a championship. 4 games right there where if we have a Budda Baker, or Sidney Jones, or Lattimore, or maybe even a peppers we don't give up the big plays

in terms of Desmond king, I know a lot of people would take him as a safety but I like him as a corner and I have him rated higher than a lot of others on this board I'm aware (likewise I have Conley a lot higher than others - low twenties) - I was considering calling Conley the pick in stead of Desmond king but wasn't sure if he'd be there and for variation (given I'd picked him in another draft) I felt I'd change the pick so as not to be accused of picking favourites...

@JoeyFlex5, I realise Conley doesn't fit as well in that spot (but notice he would have been taken at 21 not 16), but I made the trade and then took feeney, ramcyzk, robinson, Humphrey all off the board... I said that one was the worst-case lol, maybe I'd take Budda baker or Howard there if I did it again with that trade back - but that could change post-combine

Gotcha. I honestly have Conley as a Ravens second rounder in my mock.
