Can we make something clear? Yeah Flacco has had some poor to very poor games this year. He can own up to that. Even in good games he'll miss a pass or two that there's no excuse for. But in all honesty, what do you expect out of him when: - the pocket is constantly collapsing on him (although he's had some decent protection in the last few games unlike early on) - - when he does get time no body other than a 37 year old Smith Sr consistently creates separation so he usually has nobody to pass too other than a check down -there is a complete lack of a run game for much of the game so defenses can usually sit on the pass - anytime he does get a drive going a penalty or penalties will more often than not kill a drive and any momentum - I can't begin to count how many times Flacco has had to drives over 20 yards just to get a first down because of penalties, this also goes for the amount of times we have gotten a first down, gotten good yardage on first or got good yardage making it a manageable third down only to be completely screwed by a holding penalty. Yeah sometimes he's been screwing himself this year sometimes by making a really stupid throw or unnecessarily throwing off his back foot, but he gets absolutely zero help from the guys around him and the guy calling plays. Absolutely no help. I thought Flacco's performance today was very good - compared to previous games, not to how good he could playing - but there's only so much you can do when drives are consistently stalling because of penalties (12 penalties, over 120 yards), and it seems like they barely had any opportunities to score because to defense couldn't get off the field in the second half.
