Last year we were decimated from injuries . This year key injuries to Dumervil , Stanley , Mosley, Smith sr , Yanda , Gilmore , Dixon , Wagner , Lewis and third round draft choice Kafusi really hurt our chances to make the playoffs !
I believe if we are to take the next step forward and make the playoffs next year we need a new Offensive and defensive coordinators . We have the talent and our young players are sure to improve based on this year's experience . Add a good draft and a few key free agents and we'll compete with any quality team!
Blow a Knee out then talk about Character. The only guys that should play are those that never got to play this year for what ever reason.
I agree . Flacco for sure should not play
Our likelihood of being able to score if Kyle went down at the 1 is pretty good, our likelihood of stopping Ben on a drive under two minutes is right around 0%, and it played out exactly like we've come to expect, with almost zero resistance to their last minute drive. "Always take the points" sounds good, but our record of stopping last-minute drives against anyone but the lowliest of quarterbacks is a record of almost 100% failure, for a very long time, and even old 2nd and 3rd stringers like Charlie Batch have beat us like that in the past. You aren't guaranteed to score if Kyle goes down at the 1, but you are practically guaranteed to lose if you leave Ben time on the clock with a less than 7 point lead. I'd say there's an 80% chance of still scoring if Kyle goes down, and there was about a 1% chance of stopping Ben with the way the fourth quarter was going, combined with our longstanding record of ineptitude in those situations.
I totally agree ! But maybe only a 50 per cent chance of stopping the Steelers with a min plus left . I like the odds of having first and goal with 1:18 left and 4 plays to win game .
Yes the D melted down with no pressure on their QB and porous coverage . They had scored two other times in the 4th quarter so at the 2 min warning I'm yelling take your time don't leave them more then 30 sec . I believe if Kyle falls at one yd line we have first and goal to score . I'm sure we would've scored and won game . Hindsight is 20-20 but that was my strategy if I were coaching . Reminds me when Belichick went for a fourth and two at his own 29 against Manning because he knew his defense couldn't stop the Colts . I put the blame on the defensive coaches because the Steelerrs scored 14 unanswered point in the 4th quarter in Balt earlier in the year and we should have made adjustments . To give their QB enough time to plan his evening on every pass in the 4th quarter is absurd . Of course the players take some responsibility as well . The odds would've been heavily in our favor if Kyle would've stopped at the one or been tackled short of the end zone .
I disagree if Kyle stops at one yd line we have first and goal with one plus min left . We score they don't have enough time to score . I know I'm probably dreaming .
well this offseason it's very clear what must be done. with the exception of a select few (yanda, staley, juszczyk, smith sr.[in the unlikely event he doesn't retire]) fire (or trade) the entire offense. Yep, Flacco included. That whole elite argument for him is out the window.. with his cap hit, and his barely serviceable regular season performance.. he's a liability. Time to rebuild the offense. Actually the defense can use a facelift too. Use the top pick on CB replacement for Mr. Fragile or an edge rusher because Suggs is on his way out (if not this year, very soon) and Dumerville won't be far behind. oh, time for an OC that doesn't suck too.
Dumb comment! except we need to draft a cb with our first pick
As I said the other day . We needed to pressure Roethlsberger . He had all day all game to pass and we couldn't even get one sack c'mon . I'm sick, one of the most painful Ravens loss . Prevent D prevents nothing but gives up first downs . Also I knew we left too much time on clock when we scored . Harbaugh says now Cincy , forget Cincy and rest Flacco . Blame falls on D and D coaches .
Logic?? With Tuitt and Heyward out the Steeler defensive line consists of practice squad players. Domination by our offensive line is purely logical and that will result in an effective running attack as well as time to throw for Joe. Harrison and Timmons are slow and can't match up with Smith, Pitta, West, Dixon or Wallace. Should be a field day for Flacco. The offense will put up 35 if we don't turn it over and avoid penalties.
Defense is a big concern but at least we know we will dominate at the line of scrimmage. The Pittsburgh offensive line cannot handle the brutal strength up front of Williams, Jernigan and Pierce....backed up by Mosely, Suggs and Dumervil. I'm not even mentioning Judon, Z.Smith, Orr or Urban, each of which has been very good this year. Despite last week, the Baltimore defensive front 7 has been excellent this year. When I hear analysts say they were "exposed" against Philly I have to laugh. They were "exposed" in the prior 15 weeks as the number one defense against the run and last week was an aberration. Anyone that thinks Pittsburgh can run against these guys should look at the film from week 9. It shows domination at the line of scrimmage in each matchup which led to Bell rushing for 32 yards....and that was due to his extraordinary talent.
The Baltimore front seven is actually a front 12.....they rotate 12 players without a drop off in talent. This depth keeps the defense strong in the 4th quarter.
Unfortunately, the secondary relies heavily on Jimmy Smith, who is a true shut down corner. Brown has 2 TDs in the last 12 games primarily due to Smith. His absence will be felt but hopefully Pees can make the necessary adjustments to keep Ben and brown in check. Nevertheless, this has the makings of a shootout which is not the way the Ravens win.Are we 12-2? The last I checked we were very mediocre. Z Smith has been ok when he actually dresses and plays in games. Urban is a roster filler. I agree with Jimmy Smith matching up against AB as the numbers speak for themselves, but overall we are a middle of the pack team. Can the Ravens win the next two road games. Yes. Based on the way they have played on the road this year the odds are not in our favor. No Browns or Jags on the schedule here.
I really hope you are right and I agree and always said we have more playmakers . But I'm not confident today . Based on the totality of our season - offensive struggles . too many 2nd and 3rd and long , too many Fg not enough TDs , penalties , defense failing at critical times , some poor coaching decisions and very poor road play sum it up . And no Jimmy Smith ! All I want for Christmas is a Ravens win but just not confident
I think we should plan on running the ball until Pitt shows us they can stop us.
Throw some play action in there but eat as much of the clock as we can and Pitt's Christmas dinner while we're at it too!
Gonna be a really good game!
Go Ravens!!!
We need to pass successfully to set up the run especially late in the game . Otherwise we'll wind up with too many second and long and third and long . We need to keep their D guessing . When we run we need four , five ,six plus yard gains not one or two yards on first and second down .
The bottom line here is there are really only two things to watch . How the Ravens pressure Roethlisberger and how we protect Flacco .
Yes we will miss Jimmy Smith if he doesn't play on Sun against a very potent Steeler passing game . But to my recollection neither he nor wright have an interception this season !
Maybe if he would've tackled Wentz before he scored until waiting till he crossed the gaol line he would have made pro bowl , heh he's still a great safety!
Squealers vs. Ravens. On Christmas Day. For the Division. Does it get any better than that?
Well, you only get to watch it if you have the NFL network - which means most Ravens fans can't watch this game. Shame on you NFL & the Raven's Organization! Stevie B made a fortune being on the cutting edge of progress, now his organization and the NFL are living in the past hoping to keep ratings up for bigger TV deals. Get with the 21st century - we stream, we Netflix, we Hulu and if you force us to pick between watching the Ravens and paying $250 a month for a bloated Cable package, you're going to lose ratings and alienate fans. That's a flawed business model.

I think NBC is carrying the broadcast?
OK notwithstanding West's 41 yd run which I believe went for naught ; West and Dixon had 22 carries for 72 yds. Most of the time we wound up 2nd and 3rd and long . So one can utilize stats to make any point whether its about stocks, metals , weather or football . Watching the game told the story . Both our offense and defense has to play much better next /sun against the Steelers if we expect to make the playoffs .
Still cannot believe we almost lost that game . Cannot imagine how we would've felt if they blew this game . Let's celebrate a second Thanksgiving . Not at all confident going into Pittsburgh but felt the same at the end of the 2012 regular season .
To think we almost lost this game is unbelievable . We threw away the Redskin game and probably the Jet game as well . Not playing your best against the Patriots is understandable . I put the blame on the coaches for the almost debacle today . I know a win is a win but I'm not at all comfortable going into Pittsburgh . But then again I wasn't confident when we lost several games at the end of the 2012 regular season .
Ironically our playoff chances also depend on Patriots beating Broncos and Dolphins
Flacco looked rattled most of the night . What's with all those short passes ? Drove me crazy.
Not having Jimmy Smith was tough but the corners played way too soft . Cowboy receivers were wide open for three quarters and when combined with little to no pass rush we didn't have a chance .The offense was inconsistent and had a chance to open things up in the first half but as usual faltered . I felt very confident going into this game but came away realizing we are not a very good football team . Too may penalties and too inconsistent .
Nobody in the media or on BR.com has mentioned that the only team the Cowboys have never beaten is the Ravens . Let's kept streak going this Sun!

First priority : replace both coordinators - we need a pressure D with two strong corners and a big play offensive potential
