  1. I've given up on hating the Pats. Count me in the group that doesn't want Ryan to get a SB ring for Flacco's sake. Having said that, I think Pat's defense wins this game.
  2. Spoiled Ravens' fans. One losing season in 9 seasons in the toughest division in football. Good luck finding a head coach with Harbaugh's success. Everyone is trying to do it and no one really is. We have issues but it is not the head coach. Our pass rushers are old. We haven't had a decent secondary in 4 years. Same goes for the o-line which has been no better than average over that time. RBs aren't game breakers. WRs can't get separation. And our QB is terrible under pressure. Offensive scheme is unimaginative. Defense is bend but don't break without the personnel to actually be able to play that way. Changes need to be made with the coaching staff and if Harbaugh doesn't address that, then I would say calling for a head coaching change is justified. But, again, good luck finding a successful replacement.
  3. SSS epitomizes what it means to be a Raven. He really should have been a Raven his entire career. Retire as a Raven!
  4. If you study leadership at all, you'll see a lot of the things Harbaugh does are textbook tenets of leadership. I too think it would be a huge mistake to let him go. Who is really better for the job? Maybe you could question some of his choices for his "generals." I'd like to see some young, fresh ideas at OC and DC. We need upgrades in personnel and the one thing no one is talking about is the o-line. If we get better there, the run game gets stronger, play-action works better, and Flacco has more time to go deep.
  5. I beg to differ with you in a lot of games we lost over the last couple years we lead in 4th quarter only to watch pees stupid prevent defense cost us the game if pees is here next year nothing will change I mean no offense but, Pees is not the problem here. I agree that I don't care for the the 'Peesvent" defense, as I call it. In most cases you mentioned, he was forced to use that due to injuries and lack of pass rush. You can't bring in a weaker CB and expect them to shut down one side of the field without safety help when Jimmy goes down. You have to hold both safeties back deep to help which is the prevent. I think that is the point; the Ravens don't have the personnel to run and effective prevent defense. It worked well when we had Reed and Lewis; exceptionally well in the Super Bowl season. But now, without the right guys, it isn't working and Pees is at fault for not making a change in strategy.
  6. SSSr. and Webb can both fair catch punts and I'm betting metrics will say it is better to take the touchback on kicks than run them out. Hester killed field position for the Ravens at least three times last night and has been doing that all year. AND THAT IS HIS ONLY JOB. Money not withstanding, I'd rather see his roster slot go to Reynolds. Let's see if the kid is worth keeping.
  7. Pretty tired of the check-downs. Not sure how many times last night I said "1 yard pass," "2 yard pass," or "0 yard pass." Very frustrating. We were gifted 3 turn overs and still lost by 7. We are not a very good team. I've said before, we need to play perfect football (no turnovers, no big plays. limited penalties) to win against good teams, which is impossible for any team. You could see a big difference between the Pats and our o-line last night. The Pats were moving the line of scrimmage down the field about 3 yards on every play. More often than not, out o-line gets pushed back into the backfield. If we make it to the playoffs, I don't see this team going very far. But if we can sweep the Steelers again, that will make this season a success no matter what.
  8. On last night's game..Ravens proved they are not ready to contend. Why are Hester and Elam still on the team, someone please tell me. Even if Ravens make the playoffs, and I think they can, I don't see them making any noise there. Now, concerning the game in London; this will be my first chance to see them in person. Soooo looking forward to this!
  9. Pass rush...without it, it will be just like the last time the two teams met in the playoffs. Suggs, Elvis, and Pees hold the key to beating the Pats.
  10. The offensive line was the key. They made Flacco comfortable for the first time all year and gave time for the crossing patterns to develop. The running game even looked good when they used it. Let's hope this trend continues.
  11. Next week will be a test for both the defense and offense. NE defense is good and Pats will figure out ways to score points without Gronk. Need to keep our heads and not make too much of beating a mediocre Miami team.
  12. Enough already with the "mistakes" excuse. GOOD teams overcome mistakes. Dallas had a 1st and 30 and scored on that drive. The bottom line is, the Ravens are an average team that needs to play perfect football to win, and no team can do that. Sadly, this will continue as long as our QB is getting paid $22.5M (cap hit) to throw 10 TDs. Flacco is a good QB, but the Ravens will never be able to afford to surround him with the players he needs to win. The team that beat the Ravens yesterday is the new model of success in the NFL; young cheap QB, good young RB, a go to WR, and solid in all other areas. The Ravens used that formula in 2012. So did SF, SEA, and CAR. Now it is DAL and soon to be PHI and TB. I see the Ravens wallowing in the middle of the pack for years to come; never finishing poorly enough to draft a true impact player and never being a serious playoff threat. One last thought; I love JH and his leadership style. But can we please get some fresh young minds on the coaching staff? Week after week I see teams with less talent move the ball with plays designed to do so. Ours seem to be designed to get us to 4th and 2 on every possession. Is there a team out there that runs the screen pass worse than we do? And how about some CB technique that leads to INTs and not PIs? Just my thoughts.
  13. Was a little worried when McCown came in. That guy has hurt us recently. But the defense stepped up, made him look bad, and it changed the game.
  14. JH and this team need to embrace what they are...a team with good special teams and defense and a not so good offense. We should be playing for field position and letting Tucker earn his new contract. It's the same formula that worked in 2000 and during Flacco's first three years. It is my belief we would be 7-1 now had JH not left points on the field in three of those four losses.
