  1. Am I the only who can't figure out why players can't get in trouble for tampering? You have AP saying he would like to play for Dallas, Irvin says he'll be playing for the Falcons next year. If coaches can get in trouble for talking about a free agent to be that's under contract, then why are players allowed to talk about playing with different teams when under contract? Also how is it not tampering if a player is directly involved and influences a FA to sign with their team? Like reports said Boldin played a huge part in bringing Torrey in, why not fine Boldin game checks or something for tampering?

    NFL is so backwards.

I feel it's more about the ones who write the paychecks. Players are on the same level as each other in this sense.

  2. This is probably the best place for this. Former NFL player and freshly signed CFL player Adrian Robinson has died at 25. No cause of death has been released. Pretty shocking to see anyone that young (yes, I know I'm only a few years older than he was) die suddenly...

oh my.... and I just turned 25 yesterday!

I pray for the family. And I should find some wood to knock on.

  3. I find it nothing more than pathetic to bash a guy who hasn't even played a snap in the NFL... before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, they need to be patient and watch the guy throughout camp... first. it's ridiculous.

I trust our FO to do the drafting over anyone else. If someone doesn't like a pick it's fine but to completely unload on a player on your own team seems like wasted breath. If you're right, good job someone now stinks on your team. And you can remind everyone how right you were if you're one of them guys I guess. If you're wrong, well you're not exactly gonna get his jersey now are you?

  4. What exactly did we think of him then? Not worth a spot on this roster? Only a veteran minimum guy who won't contribute? Guys have contributed on veteran minimum deals before. If we offered him a contract we were interested. I'm not sure what you're implying but it sounds almost like it's a sarcastic comment directed at those who wanted him and were excited we may get him. I might have misinterpreted your comments though.

Well you certainly pay a player more if you think/expect they will contribute more. Sure, maybe they see a spot of hope on a guy offering minimum. But I agree with the guy above that they must've had minimal confidence with his potential here.

  5. I'd actually be happier with that. I've liked Gresham more from the start and really wanted him in the form of a trade when Pitta got hurt since I knew he was going to be a FA. I got hyped up for Housler as others did and with the fact that I knew he was in a non tight end friendly offense. I would definitely take Gresham first.

Don't trades within a division like never happen?

  6. I wouldn't mind bringing in Bowe if we could for cheap. That would be nice. Why not give him a shot? I can't see him trying a lot of money on the free market after his two years of bad production. Maybe he needs a change of scenery. Didn't his production trail off with Reid coming there?

I thought he started trending downward one year before. I could be wrong.

Edit: 60 receptions for 754 yds and 0 TDs. He missed a couple games in December for 2012 too. Not terrible I suppose, given I can't remember who was their QB.

  7. I don't think you understand what is being said. Let me simplify the theory: When the Colts picked off Brady, they deflated the ball, and reported to the officials that the Pats' balls were underinflated. Simply put, this theory asserts that the Colts "framed" the Patriots. Since one report said only THAT ball was significantly deflated, this isn't so far fetched.

The Colts weren't deflating their balls. They deflated the Pats' ball to frame them. So the theory says. Not that complicated.

But she was saying she believes the original story to be true which was 11 out of 12 were 2 pounds under. Not that story that conveniently allows you to, well, be a Patriots fan and blame everyone else. It's exactly what they would want people to think.

Oh and I haven't heard anything of the Colts balls being a few ticks under. Not one, as far as we know.

  8. I'm just making a valid point, not sticking up for them this time. Just saying that if one cheater is scorned, the other should be too. For some reason, I haven't seen nearly the same criticism over Rice's cheating. I'm not justifying anyone cheating. I'm not defending anybody. I'm just saying that if we're going to scorn cheaters, we should scorn all cheaters, not just the ones we don't like.

It's definitely a valid point. Kind of disgraceful if you ask me. It's like these guys providing the "hey I cheated too" statements are using this opportunity to get stuff off their chest with no consequences.

  9. 2. I think the notion that Ozzie doesn't sign UFAs because of comp picks is a myth. Historically, comp picks don't amount to anything, and I seriously doubt Ozzie has ever once not signed a player solely because of a comp pick. If we don't sign a guy, its because his price is too high or we simply don't want him.

iirc, many of our comp picks have amounted to very useful players. Like Wagner and McPhee.

  10. I see someone say "well all teams cheat" once in a while. It makes me wonder what exactly they are referring to. PED's are obviously unfair, but I think that's more of a player's action in general and not so much on the team. I can agree that all teams probably have PED usage somewhere, and I tend to criticize the player.

What about instances where a coach or the FO are responsible and it more-so reflects on the entire team? It's probably my lack of knowledge but I can't name many. Spy-gate, bounty-gate, deflate-gate, crowd noise-gate. Then you have Tomlin stepping on the field, and deceptive play calling. I have a feeling the Patriots would stand out in the 'questionable actions' category based on what I know/remember.

Edit: I have to disagree and say that I don't think all teams cheat. I only see one that seems to have an ongoing problem...

  11. Not sure where it's headed now but right now it looks like it might end with this technicality: no recordings of pressure. Seems fitting. Now Pats fans can hold onto the "they were deflated to begin with" argument while everyone else will still hold them responsible.

The bottom line to me is that they are continuously bending the rules, either way, and I'd have much more respect for their success if they could stay out of this stuff. They are certainly a great team. But much of their success comes with one of these stories.

  12. I think the only valid point I've really heard is from Ravensdfan, that if they're willing to do this what else have they been doing behind the scenes?

And if they have done it in other games I'm sure some of those games were affected by the cheating. But there's nothing to be done about it except punish them and keep a close eye on them from now on, Asterisk all you want, I'm fine with that.

I think we're all in agreement lol. Except for the "it definitely didn't change our game". I have no problem with you thinking that. All I can say is maybe it did, but I don't want to dwell there since it's a completely different timeline.
