As much as I like Dennis- and his zeal, he is just another convenient check down for Dunkin Jo-nuts. Furthermore, Joe is not a Championship caliber QB. He just happened to be the QB on the Championship caliber team of 2012. Until many of the pieces of our team get much better (much, much better), he will never guide us to another Championship. Can't wait for Mallett to somehow get into the mix.

Reading this makes me think you started watching the Ravens AFTER the superbowl run of 2012. Even the few Steelers fans that I know give Joe props for his role in bringing home the Lombardi. I'm not one to casually call people that I don't agree with trolls but this is just such a clueless statement I don't know what to think about you. Is it cold in Ohio this time of year? Hehe

He's due $5.5M, which we can clear all of that if they cut him. So if he's going to take a paycut, it would have to be a heck of a paycut, because asking him to shave $1-2M isn't probably worth it.

He'd literally have to take like a $3-4M paycut in my eyes, and he can easily get more than that on the open market as a Safety or a Corner.

If the Jefferson deal goes through, I see no way he's on the roster. I like the idea of depth, but not at $3-4M a year for a backup safety I don't. I doubt they would view him as anything better than the 4th or 5th corner either.

I see your point but the only problem is that our secondary depth has been a joke and maybe paying him 1-2 mil less would be worth it even if just to have somebody reliable step in. Who is left on our roster? Canady, Huff and .... did we resign levine? I seriously dont know who is left after we make cuts and whoever it is are they worth letting webb go? When Jimmy misses a couple games next season who will stop the bleeding? Shift young to cb with s help like last year. There is still value in keeping webb

    3. Jimmy isn't getting traded or cut, because he's very clearly the MVP of this defense. What practically any game where he's on the field vs one's where he's not... the difference in the defense is staggering. Would have thought fans would have learned this after last season, but again, that would require them to watch games.

So painfully obvious I don't understand why people continue to complain. I know that jimmy gets hurt a lot but the difference on defense when he is playing compared to when he is out is undeniable. That Giants game last year should have shown fans the truth. He shut down Odell in the first half, then was out for the second half and Beckham went off on us. Night and day. Jimmy stays healthy last year and we would have probably won the division. He is that big of a difference maker. And we definitely could have used him to cover dez in dallas the following week.

Webb needs to be let go, period. Flacco needs to be put on notice. Right now we got no game. When we clean house this time, it should include many big names who were once okay but now not so much...another season like we been having is unacceptable.

Maybe and I'm sure many will agree with you but looking at our depth in the secondary and the fact that Webb can play both Safety and CB I would much rather negotiate a pay reduction and bring him back as a backup. Webb may not be as good as he was a few years ago but at least he is a consistent, solid player. He is also a true Raven and has a lot of experience in our system. Always been a team player, never complained and is active in the community. It's just my opinion but I say Webb retires a Raven.

Most likely, you don't get a player like Jefferson for cheap.

In other news, Baltimore eschews a #1 receiver for another check-down target for Flacco in Woodhead. Looks to be a good offense consisting of constant 3-and-outs with garbage passes of 2 and 3 yards.

    \Sarcasm

Who knows, maybe they'll draft a quality receiver instead. We all know Ozzie is amazing at the draft and his receiver drafts are always top notch.

    /sarcasm

Be prepped for lots of drops, and defenses playing press coverage against a team with no true #1 receiver... or real threat in the slot for that matter. Somebody phone Wes Welker, see if he still wants to play.

    You are grim

If they can just get his cap number down by 1.5-2 million, he could be a very great disguised player that can help with the nickel or be a free roamer when needed. Webby still has value, maybe not what he is getting paid, but he still adds quality depth.

Keeping Webb for depth at a reduced salary would be great. So much better than the typical scrubs we have. He is consistent.

That's definitely what's been killing us.
But this literally could be the craziest corner class of all time. There are about 5 I'd be stoked about at 16. I want Jones for sure though.
There will be good ones in the second too, but we gotta stop messing around and take one of these top dawgs in the first.
    1rst round corner+Jimmy+Tavon+Weddle+Jefferson= top 3 secondary

That would be amazing. Like it or not we all know the road to the SB goes through foxborough. A top tier secondary that forces NE to run more can only help us get to where we want to be.

just what they need. a guy for joe to dump the ball off to in the flats for no yardage. this makes no sense. we do not need a scat back to take time away from dixon being on the field. this is why the ravens are always in cap trouble. so essentially, they have wasted 3 of the past 3 years draft picks (dixon, buck allen, taliafero + signing west) and will cut at least two of them to sign the veteran for several million more, while taking playing time from the guy you have touted as your "number 1". brilliant front office we have.

    Negative nelly 😀

We needed to bring in at least 1 "big name" FA to fill a need to even pretend we can compete in 2017. It seems people do not comprehend how many voids we must fill. WR position was our best chance to do it and hope we can solve the rest. We will literally have almost half the roster to fill.

This is how the ravens operate in free agency. They never make a big splash in the beginning just be patient there will be more roster cuts as the off-season progresses and Ozzie will find some players that fit our needs

I see you are a weedle fan but just to clear it up he's average and on the down side of his career If he could have tackled A brown we would have beat the steelers and the guy gets beat deep a lot because he plays out of position and doesn't have the speed to recover

What are you talking about? Weddle had a fantastic season and was ranked as the #1 safety in the entire league by pff.

If the Ravens Sign Torry and thats there answer of a vet receiver with some juice left, well the Harbs Ozzie and Flacco your tenure is over with the Ravens and house cleaning begins. Flacco has cost us KO, and now Williams. Its time someone lites a fir under Flacco's butt.

I'm the last person to take up for Flacco but I think it is more a factor of a line of bad contracts and bad luck. This year will still see Monroe taking 4.4 million in dead money. I would rathet pay Flacco 24 million to start 16+ games this season than pay Monroe 4.4 million to sit on the couch. Past few years have been plagued by dead money from Pitta, Rice, Monroe, Ngata, ect.

  12. It's a shame to lose 3 of our higher level guys and we will feel the loss but no way is Ricky Wagner worth top tackle money. Williams is a beast and great person but his lack of pass rush makes him more expendable and definitely not worth what he will probably get paid by some aweful team with no run defense. Too one dimensional. Juice could be a very unique and dynamic player on another team that knows how to use him. That team is not the ravens and therefor is not worth more than the 2 mil a year FB typically get paid. I wish all of them well but the Ravens will be better off allocating that money elsewhere. The loss of Orr may be the biggest hole to fill. Hopefully KC is up for it this year.

You can't scheme around a bad QB!!! You got that right!!! "old 3 and out Flacco" is just BAD. Yes we do need 2 CB's and 2 LB's real bad. Ozzie just has to trade picks, give away the 5-7 rounders to move up and get these 4 defensive players. Then add 2 offensive linemen and a center.
Lets rebuild the defense because no one in the Ravens Org. wants to admit "old 3 and out Flacco" is finished. So the offense will just die a little more each game, let it die, rebuild slowly. But by rebuilding the defense we can get better faster when we do get a NEW QB. Remenber "Trent Dilfer" just did enough to help our Defense win a Super Bowl.

Problem is that those 5-7 round picks don't carry enough value to move much in rounds 1-4. I do agree with you that we need to shore up the Oline and then hit the draft hard on defense.

  14. The past 3 seasons have shown me 2 things.

    1. The way Harbaugh kept our team fighting to the last second of every game in the second half of 2015 when we had nothing to play for showed me he is a highly skilled motivator.

    2. The high caliber offense we had in 2014 showed me just how important an OC is and how few really good ones there are available. We may never see another coordinator like Kubiak again. It was eye opening.

  15. I'm dreaming a little but...

    Let Bwill walk

    Resign Wagner

Let juice walk. Dixon is just as versatile 🤞

    Sign Marshall

    Sign Hightower

    Draft a CB round 1

    Draft a Rusher round 2

Sign Mangold or draft a big C Round 3

    Draft a S round 3

    BPA rest of the draft

Question is, do we realistically have the cap space for those 3 guys and does the draft board set up in a way that makes this possible. The Hightower signing is probably a stretch.

It's almost not even worth coming on here anymore with all the negativity.

I'll brace for the, "Are we not allowed to be critical must we be blindly optimistic" rebuttal.

I should elaborate, it's not so much negativity but downright hate for the coach and QB coupled with ridiculous alternative plans.

You know it's bad when you get neg'd for saying to stay positive. Haha

    Fixed it for you

Man, it's a shame that this is what is getting him released from the team. The NFL really needs to change their policy on Marijuana and so does the entire United States. Absolutely stupid that people honestly feel that alcohol and cigarettes are less harmful than marijuana. How many people die from each per year? What medicinal value do either of them have? Yet, the government chooses to legalize them, tax them and let them kill who it wants...#wakeupamerica

The drug that ruins lives here is the one that is legal and comes to you from a prescription pad. It's literally heroin in a pill. Money money money.

Stanley was hurt early and it took him a couple of games to get healthy and adjust for the pro game.  Ditto for Lewis.  He didn't get an opportunity at RT because there was no reason for him to move out of the spot he was learning.  The kid was a LT at Nebraska...hardly a chump.  I would be fine with him at RT.  It's easier to find a guard or center in the draft you can slot in right away, or pick up a more affordable veteran than Wagner at RT if need be.  Besides, with Castillo gone, I expect the entire line to play better.

I completely agree. I feel Lewis would be fine at RT which would create an easier to fill hole at LG. It would be great if Wagner returned but you have to concider that Yanda helps to make him look better than he may be on another team. I'm confident Stanley will be even better next year and will help take some of the pressure off of the LG possition whoever that may be.

Has he ever added to a lead we had in the 4TH? hes MR 3-out at the end of games.. that's what I meant

You must be a new member of the flock so I say, Welcome to Ravens nation. Even though I am critical of Flacco lately he has a history of being the exact opposite of the player you are describing. Historically Joe Flacco has been cold out of the gate in the first half only to heat up as the game goes on. Any long time fan always had optimism if we were down after half time and we always and I mean always have faith that he would win the game if he had the ball last and we were only down 1 score. He used to be very reliable at the end of games.

Gonna bookmark this paragraph and wait until you see how much Tony Romo and Jay Cutler get paid in FA this season, as proof to validate what Joe's value would be worth (plus inflation) 2 years from now when that happens.

Should give me a good chuckle.

I have been hearing this since the day Joe signed his contract. "You just wait until the next QB signs his deal, then you'll see Flacco is only getting the going rate for NFL QB's". Well it's been 4 long years and every QB in the league has signed a new contract since Joe in 2013. Not one, not two, EVERY QB IN THE LEAGUE. But your right, I'm sure Romo and Cutler will be the highest paid QB's in the league this year. Wow.
