If Flacco is really worth $100,000,000, then we shouldn't need spend a 1st round pick on WR. The QB should be able to manipulate the receivers that he has. If anything TE is a more vital position to hit early. The Patriots have never used a 1st round pick on WR. Only times they used a early pick on a WR was in 2006 & 2013. And both times, both receiver were not worth the picks.

Fans have got to stop using Brady and the Patriots as a comparison. They are the best team in the League and have been for over a decade. It only leads to your own frustration.

    1. If Ravens can't win ten of these games, its time for changes
    2. Most of the tough games are against their division. Prove yourselves
    3. Not facing a lot of great QBs. Ben, Rogers, Stafford?, Carr after injury
    4. Draft must create separation from AFC South. None of those teams should beat the Ravens if Ravens address NEEDS.
    5. Must win 4 games in the division. Steeler and Bengals will run through AFC south and NFC north, so Ravens must personally put Ls on their record to make playoffs

I'm curious what makes you think the Bengals will be better next year after losing their starting LT and RG? This is on top of all of the players they lost in 2016 that led to a 6-1-9 record.

  3. Earlier this month, Newsome said the combine incident did not change where Foster ranked on the Ravens' draft board.
"He went to Alabama, so I think I have the inside [track] on most of that information that comes out of there," Newsome said.

This makes me think we are not interested. Why would Ozzie make this statement if he were? Wouldn't it have been better to say that the incident was a disappointment if he were truely interested so other teams would stay away. This comment makes me think Ozzie wants someone to pick him before us so it pushes the players he really wants down the board.

The Ravens have $4.4M in dead money this year for LT Eugene Monroe, who is retired at age 29, never displayed real passion during the games for Baltimore, and only had 17 regular season starts in the two years (plus not starting the NE playoff game in which he was supposedly healthy enough) after he signed his free agent deal that included $17M in guaranteed money. At the time the Ravens had to decide between paying Monroe or Michael Oher, who wasn't worth the money then and has played for two teams since. Hindsight is always 20-20, and "at the time" most felt the Ravens made the right move. It turned out to probably be the worst free agent signing in club history.

Another $2.4M in dead money this year goes to Elvis Dumervil. Again, hindsight is 20-20; Dumervil certainly played well before last year when he was bothered by injury. (A 12/30/16 piece here on this website noted that Dumervil had surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon. He apparently suffered an Achilles injury at the end of the '14 season, played through it in '15, and found his Achilles was 60% torn at the end of the '15 season. Dumervil was told by some to wait until the '17 season to come back but he wanted to return earlier because he felt the Ravens could do something special. As we saw in '16 he just never got healthy and his production was a far cry from two years prior.) So releasing Dumervil saved the Ravens $6M on the cap, but will carry the dead hit. Was that a bad move by the Ravens front office when they signed Dumervil to a 5-year, $26M contract in March 2013? The first two years they received great production from Dumervil, with 9.5 and 17 sacks, then injuries seemed to slow him down. But it easy to look now and criticize a dead money figure...

Here's an article by ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley, written March 24 of this year, on the Ravens' front office's ability to typically make the right call when it comes to their own free agents:

Don't forget that when Suggs missed the 2015 season Doom was forced to play all 3 downs. He was always too tired by 3rd down to be an effective pass rusher.

If Peppers is there and the Ravens don't take him, they need someone else to do the picking. This guy is the real deal and we are really hurting for linebackers that can cover. Only Moseby is of the caliber that we need. Suggs injuries have slowed him really bad. It is a shame, but, at his age, he should think about packing it in. He was nothing after that injury last year.

No to players that are good at several possitions but master of none.

Well if teams seem like theyr using the same cheat sheet then that makes them predictable and should be advantage to us.

Wev don't great by drafting small school guys and betting on them taking the next step. Like B.Williams and Judon in later rounds. Wev also done a pritty nice job taking a conservative best player avaliable in the first round.

Second round is where our calculated risks havnt necesarrily panned out. Still hoping Correa and Max williams would have done us wonders if they turned out to be like Jernigan at least but heck, you can't have it all.

Good news is they still have time to develop. Didn't Max put up the best numbers for a rookie TE in franchise history? I know it wasn't anything to write home about but the potential is there. He has to work hard and rise to the top. It's still possible. Hopefully Correa takes the next step this year and locks down the spot next to Mosley for many years to come. It's a lot of pressure but he will have the opportunity to succeed. Also excited to see what Bronson will bring to the table this year. Could be another surprise player. Last years draft class has the potential to be historical.

Webb was part of the secondary that routinely surrenders 4th quarter leads. I don't get how adding him makes the Ravens better or add quality depth. What happened to getting younger and faster?

Like any business you need a mix of young and old to make it work. Too many young players may provide speed but they lack the experience to put themselves in the correct position to make a play. While too many vets and players know where to be but just can't always get there in time. If we can add a player or two in the draft we will have a nice balance.

We lost Jernigan and Wagner and Juice

    We gained Jefferson and Carr

I know there hasnt been one season in ravens history where certain members can't see reality but i really don't see how we have improved this offseason.

Harbs in denial about his team in the draft press conference. He bullishly says ''We have playmakers'' and lists a bunch of mediocrity.

Just take your ball and go home. 😀

  9. Great news about Webby. He will be a very versatile player. Webb is about as true a Raven as we have on this roster. He has always worked with the FO to lower his salary (no small gesture), played through injuries, changes possitions to fit the teams needs, does a ton of charitable work in the community and stays loyal to the team. There are so few players that I would say embody the team philosophy so thoroughly. Suggs, Flacco, Yanda and Webb. They give themselves for our team and I appreciate it very much.

Shutdown corner in the 3rd really....And moving up a few spots will really make that difference??? Ravens should be looking for that corner in the 1st

A few spots? We moved up 25 spots. We traded our comp pick which was more of a fourth rounder than a third. Yes it will make that big of a difference. Some of you are way overvaluing Jernigan. He is good, not great. No one was going to give us a third rounder for a rotational player. Not going to happen. So would you have preferred the Eagles 4th round pick instead? They pick at 119 which had a value of "56". Ozzie was smart enough to trade our comp pick that had a value "104" to move up 25 spots for the 74th pick valued at "220". Thats an added value of "116".

I don't think it'll move a QB up as the team's considering him puck after the Ravens.

Anything can happen on draft day. There are always trades and picks that no one saw coming. For instance, the Texans could feel compelled to trade up for a QB if they get paranoid and think someone else may grab their guy first.
