Ive looked at that play where Sherman is off sides several times and its clear to me Sherman isn't going after the ball, hes going after the kickers legs. Maybe his coach read the rulebook and saw where its ok to slam into the kicker if your off sides.

Now I'm not saying I don't think there should've been a flag. There definitely needed to be a flag thrown on that play. However, After watching the play several times it's very obvious to me that Sherman was going after the ball.

    1. It looks pretty obvious to me that he's taking an angle at the ball, he ran into he kicker because the kicker just happened to be in the wrong spot at the wrong time. He jumps with his shoulder and back to the ball in an attempt to block the ball and avoid getting nailed in the face/chest/stomach. It's the way I'd jump at the ball lol.

    2. What in the world does he have to gain from going at a freaking kicker?? Not even Vontaze Burfict is stupid enough to intentionally hit a kicker. Maybe you can get away with a dirty play on any other player. But not a kicker. If you think this is a dirty play that's kinda sad. Still a penalty, just not intentional.

  2. Please just let West handle the bulk of the carries. He almost split them with Dixon and he has said and proven that he plays better when he is the feature back. I understand Dixon has a bright future, but while West is running well I really don't understand why you run with a committee. But if we are going by committee I'd love to see Tali getting some more reps so we can see what he's got.

Ricky Wagner Definite Comp. pick with Lewis the future RT

Brandon Williams Possible comp. pick, depends if he's seeking Damon Harrison money

    Steve Smith Retired

Kamar Aiken Might not even be a comp. pick after this season, but definitely leaving because we barely use him

    Matt Elam Re-signs on a short-term prove-it deal

Lawrence Guy Seems like a solid player we re-sign for cheap, considering the lack of depth at DE. Otherwise, provides a late comp. pick

    Anthony Levine Unsure

Will Davis Unsure, definitely won't fetch a comp. pick

Kyle Juszczyk Probably depends on our OC for 2017

    Jerraud Powers Cut

    Devin Hester Cut or retires

Ryan Mallett Unsure, but if he does leave, late-round comp. pick.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Elvis Dumervil 100% cut, but may re-resign on a 1-year prove-it deal

    Lardarius Webb 100% cut, but may re-sign on a 1-year prove-it deal

    Benjamin Watson 100% cut, but may re-sign on a 1-year prove-it deal

Sharecee Wright Unsure, coaching staff seems to love him regardless of performance

Jeremy Zuttah Unsure, too early to tell

    Kyle Arrington 100% cut

    Kendrick Lewis 100% cut

--also, fans aren't going to want to hear it, but Mike Wallace could also be cut, since they would save over $5 mil against the cap, though I think an extension is worked out instead. This was basically a 1-year deal from the start with a chance for an extension. Pitta could also be a cut candidate, depending on how he finishes the season.

Wow we have Ozzie over here. I can name several of these that are very likely to be wrong.

For all the hate that Jimmy Smith gets for not being a "shutdown corner" we sure did look like dog doo without him. I say if Jimmy doesn't get concussed we win. Of course, having no pass rush and 15 penalties doesn't help but it was obvious the Giants gameplan changed as soon as Jimmy left.

I really don't understand the hate towards Jimmy. No, he's not a shut down corner, but those aren't exactly easy to come by. He's a very solid corner who pretty much had Beckham shut down before leaving the game. He locked down Amari Cooper a few weeks ago. If he's having a good day he can be a very good player. I've only seen one bad play from his this year, and that was the touchdown he allowed against the Redskins.

My five thoughts will be based on reasons why the Ravens need to make changes.

    1. Most of the best players on the team are guys the Ravens brought in via free agency. A lot of the guys they draft are on the bench or special teams way too often.

Smith Sr, Wallace, Weddle, Watson (injured). In the past Boldin, Mason, McKinney, McGahee.

This organization consistently relies on free agents (old players) instead of building through the draft. It’s no wonder they are against the cap and can’t keep good players. There was a time when every year OZ drafted a pro bowler. What happened?

    2. Over the last few seasons, the Ravens are one of the most penalized teams. Has Harbs lost the ability to instill discipline?

    3. Their highest paid players are the most inconsistent and disappointing.

Flacco is not elite. He is inconsistent in every aspect of the position.
    Webb is overpaid.
J Smith does not look like a 1st round CB.

Where are the pro bowls among these players? If I’m not mistaken, none of them have a pro bowl.

Joe caught fire in 2012 and is solid in the playoffs, but regular season he is average at best.

    4. 5 offensive coordinators and the offense still stinks. In fact, it was worst under Billick. Harbs is not an X and Os guys. He does not have the competence to contribute to developing a successful system on either side of the ball. As a result, the front office hire all these former coaches with their own viewpoints. Ravens need a coach that implement a system that guides how they draft and build an identity.
    5. Ravens are heading toward missing the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 seasons. They are 8-14 so far over the past 2 seasons. The consistency Steve mentioned in the state of the Ravens is not working. Quality of draft, ability to retain top players , ability to develop young talent, lack of pro bowlers at positions you draft and players with big contracts are all on the decline.

I think Jimmy Smith has looked pretty darn good this season outside of the touchdown he allowed last week. He had Beckham shut down up until he left the game. Hes not the problem lol

I've noticed on this board that many fans feel flacco is overrated and overpaid. I've never been one of those fans but when you look at the top paid qbs it's worth debating.

    1. Colts QB Andrew Luck: $24.6 million
    2. Saints QB Drew Brees: $24.3 million
    3. Ravens QB Joe Flacco: $22.1 million
    4. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers: $22 million
    5. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson: $21.9 million
    6. Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger: $21.85 million
    7. Cardinals QB Carson Palmer: $21 million
    8. Giants QB Eli Manning: $21 million
    9. Chargers QB Philip Rivers: $20.81 million
    10. Panthers QB Cam Newton: $20.76 million

Some would argue that we lack talent because of Flacco's hefty contract and we'd have a much more talented team without his salary on the books. Others feel that we need a franchise QB so settling for Flacco is fine enough although the rest of the roster may not be as strong as we'd like. Which begs the question......

Which would you prefer? Having flacco and his hefty contract with more average players around him then good players? Or having a much more talented team around a young inexperienced or older journeyman quarterback.

    Fire away.

Honestly I don't have a problem with his contract. QBs cost a premium these days, and he keeps us in games, injuries and penalties just sucked the life out of this team today.

im worried we are going to make some bad decisions again next year. Next year has to be about building an elite Offensive line. It's about also recognising and accepting that we are not re-tooling but rebuilding. this has hurt us and its because of Flacco's status and contract that we try to convince out of sheer desperation that we are a contender because we have a 120 million dollar qb rather than admit the obvious. the moment the FO realizes that its time to rebuild and accept suckage for a few years rather than make our cap space worse by signing 30 year old +'s and not creating new talent to fill important positions.  The only reason we have been good in the past is due to our epic drafts from 1996-2007. The stars of these drafts were legit..mmmmm what happened in 2008? we got a decent QB.that was all that was needed..but since then i can say there hasn't been 1 player we have drafted that you can say..'' he's a top 5 player in this league''..think about that.since 2008 not 1 player we have drafted could be mentioned among the top 5 in his position. The only one is possibly osemele and he's gone to a better situation...same with Mcphee..yet the guys we have paid a bucketload to arent even top 15 in their position.

Brandon Williams? C.J Mosley is top 10. Stanley healthy has huge potential.

  8. What is up with every single person I see on here mention the Giants say they are gonna beat us? Like it's a sure thing? They are 2-2. I'll take the Ravens against anyone right now because I have confidence that we will play up to the competition. I just want some reasons

    Nine Takeaways....

    1. Missed Tackles - Aiken on the punt return, ZDarius on the long run.

    2. Penalties - Big run plays, big pass plays all negated by holding penalties. And the Coup de Grace - Wallace's stupid penalty that gave the Raiders the ball on the 33 to start the game winning drive.

    3. Ryan Jensen is bad.

    4. Jeremy Zuttah is worse

    5. West ran well but still has fumbling issues - it's what got him cut from Ten.

    6. Steve Smith is a beast.

    7. Don't blame Harbaugh for taking the penalty - blame the defense for giving up 24 yards on 3rd & 18.

    8. No pass rush = loss.

    9. Concussion Protocol claims it's 1st victim. Webb had to sit out and Lewis played out of position otherwise it may have turned out differently. I can see this being an issue - having a team's QB have to take a seat for the last drive because he's being evaluated. What do you think would happen if Tom Brady had to come out for a series and Jimmy G threw a game losing INT.

You're mistaken. Zuttah was rated as a top 5 O-lineman in week 4. Its called facts. Jensen also played better than hurst, who you forgot to mention. The defense did not give up 24 yards on 3rd and 18, they gave up 17. That's why the raiders went for it on 4th down.

    1. Largely ineffectiveness (at least compared to what we currently have) as a runner.

    2. A false perception from the fanbase that he's a short yardage "power back", despite his production in that area being worse than somebody like Forsett's

    3. Can't see which RB on the roster he's better than or who he would replace (we aren't carrying 5 RBs)

    4. Not a particularly good ST player compared to his peers.

From the little we have seen on the field from him I do believe he could compete with Forsett and West. Next season I could see is being Talieferro, West, and Dixon. He has always been a solid runner it's just been the health issues

  11. Does anyone know the status on Talieferro? I haven't heard anything since he was put on the regular season PUP list. I'm very curious as to what the Ravens do with him after the 6 week period. Is he healthy right now? Will he be healthy? I really want the Ravens to keep him, he's a tank and he would really help out our run game if he could just stay healthy.

  12. Seeing the running game struggle is very concerning for me. Does anyone know what we will do with Talieferro when he gets off the PUP list? Or if he is healthy yet? If he can stay healthy I believe he can be a huge weapon for the Ravens, that man is a bruiser. I have not heard anything about him since being put on regular season pup, however.
