How much do we think Marshall, Garcon, and Cruz would get a year? I want 2 out of 3 of them, plus Wallace on a pay cut, if that's possible.

I just don't think it's necessary to bring in 2 guys like that and keep Wallace. Want to bring in Marshall and Garcon? Sure, but Wallace has gotta go now. There's no reason to keep paying him 7 or 8 million when we have a 1st round rookie who NEEDS to be fed targets. Breshad would be pushed back to 4th on the depth chart, and that would be ridiculous. This is his 3rd year and we need to see if he will be our future guy. You don't draft a 1st round receiver to sit on the bench and never get a shot, especially when they show great potential like he has.

I would like the WR position to go like this:

Bring in Britt, Garcon, or Marshall, or even a Kendall Wright. There's also Boldin who I wouldn't mind playing his last years here.  Wallace was developing nice chemistry with Flacco, so if he can take a pay cut of a few mil then keep him. If not maybe sign 2 of them but Perriman has got to be the #3 at least, but I'd really like him to be our #2. I think we need to rely heavily on our TEs if they can stay healthy which would diminish the need for 2 more receivers. Maybe draft a guy like Kupp, only bring in one FA WR, let go of Wallace, and let that money go to Wagner/Williams.

I know one guy going down to injury shouldn't ruin your season but we badly missed what Jimmy Smith gave us.

    • Jimmy Smith was the 10th ranked CB with a passer rating of 68.5 allowed.
    • Jimmy Smith was only targeted 5.5 times per game.
    • Smith very rarely allowed big plays with 9.48 yards per catch, lowest among #1 CBs.
    • Players in Jimmy's coverage had a catch rate of 45%, 2nd lowest among #1 CBs

When Jimmy goes out, that breaks down our entire defensive coverage. Pees needs to drop more guys back in coverage, that being Orr/Judon/Smith/Mosley, then he's forced to play more cover 2/single high safety coverage so he doesn't get beat on the back end. Then that moves Jarraud Powers and Shareece Wright to the #1 and #3 spots respectively and they did not have good games at all when forced to that roll.

We're going to need a healthy Jimmy Smith next year if we want to contend. Our defense broke down twice without him, getting depth there will be important but without him we suffered badly.

Can someone tell me how, with these stats, Jimmy is still so underrated. When healthy I honestly think he's our best player on defense.

I'm more of a trade down guy honestly. I know it sounds nice to go and get «your guy» but it's just not worth it imo. I mean we are one C, pass rusher and CB from being elite. This class is so good at either position, it's now or never.

We could walk away with a younger and very complete roster, after 3 years of rebuilding. I know it would be nice and all to have a «special» player but there's a difference between being audacious and impatient and in this precise draft class it would mean the latter to trade the house for one guy.

And if Brady wins another ring he may walk. But I have a feeling that the Patriots will still be a juggernaut in the AFC even without him. The Steelers will probably still be good without Big Ben. Both those teams have crazy talent on both sides of the ball.

I don't know about the Steelers after Ben. It's not easy to find a new QB by any means.

Obviously it would be nice to hit on a Rice clone, but guys like that dont come around often.  While i think that would really get us back to seeing the best of Joe, i just dont think its probable to find another like him, obviously.

I hear there's this Rice guy who's out of the league right now, I bet he'd be pretty close to RR :P

The only thing that would upset me about drafting Dalvin Cook is if Marty Mornhinweg failed to properly utilize him. Cook is a guy that could be an absolute game changer. Dixon is a good back, but Dalvin Cook has the potential to be great. In an offense lacking game changers, Cook would be welcomed.

Id argue that Dixon absolutely has the potential to be one of the best running backs in the league.

Tim Williams or Sidney jones. We absolutely need either a corner or pass rusher in the first. If character comes in though I think Sidney Jones is a home run pick. Sick ball skills. Has the size. He has great technique and shadowing ability. To have him Jimmy and Tavon in the secondary with Weddle is hard to pass on.

If we could get someone like Jones we could have a top 5 secondary if everyone were to stay healthy

Is this supposed to be a joke?

4th and 5th rounders are great when they pan out but you get OK NFL players in those rounds. For every Antonio Brown there's hundreds who amount to nothing.

I think it was partially sarcastic. His logic is since our early picks don't pan out just trade down for more picks because Ozzie always finds gems later on. So far it looks like our 4th round picks recently are looking much better than the 2nd and 3rd, although Kaufusi(?) doesnt quite count.

  11. I always see people saying Flacco has to have talent around him to win. He has to have a good RB, good WR, a good O line, a good defense. Well, he won us a super bowl with a completely average defense, ranked like 16th or something that year. So that's out the window. And yes Flacco isn't a QB who can absolutely carry his team. But who can? What quarterback can win a super bowl with a subpar cast? The only two that anyone can even argue for are Rodgers and Brady. No one can argue that Flacco is on their level, but no one is. They are 2 of the greatest QBs of all time. Who else doesn't need a good supporting cast to win? Matt Ryan, who might be the MVP this season? Nope. He has one of the best supporting casts in the NFL and a very underrated defense. Big Ben? Nope. Andrew Luck? Nope. Drew Brees? nah. Russell Wilson? Cam Newton? I'm tired of hearing that Flacco needs a lot of help. Everyone does. Football is a team sport and one man doesn't win or lose games. I'll even give Flacco a pass for most of this season as he was recovering from an ACL injury. If he plays poorly next season, then I'll start worrying. Otherwise, I'm getting sick of people trashing Joe and only Joe

  12. It's gotta be Dixon for me. Watching him progress as the year went along, watching him consistently breaking tackles and almost never going down on first contact, gets me pretty pumped to see what he can do with his rookie season under his belt. If we beef up the Oline and perhaps get a decent center in here after watching Zuttah regress, he can have a stellar year next season. I truly don't understand the buzz for another running back. If Dixon and West aren't consistently being hit in the back field I do believe they'd break more long runs. I think we need to focus this offseason on other needs.

Backing up a bit, can someone explain to me how Ben ended up with a 105 rating for that game?  He completed 13 passes to his guys and two to the Dolphins.  Almost all of his "yardage" was YAC by Brown.

He's so overrated it makes me mad.
