If we take lamp I don't think we need elflien. Especially if we sign mangold which I see as a high possibility. Just how comfortable do you feel with Lewis at tackle? He didn't look good last year as our fill in left tackle

Well that's why I said if we sign Mangold that might change some things. I think Lewis is better suited to be our RT than a guard, he just needs some work, he was only a rookie. If we don't sign Mangold, I see no problem with taking Lamp and Elfien, as they would play two different positons. Unless we put Lamp at Center, which is a possibility.

  2.

This is my attempt at a 2nd Mock Draft. Don't mind the title as I don't know where that came from or why I chose it.

    Round 1 -

    Forrest Lamp

    OG

    WKU

I see a lot of people are putting Lamp at 16, and I'm really starting to get excited thinking about how great our Oline could be with all the young guys being infused into it lately. Lamp is a day 1 starter at guard and I think he can be our Yanda of the future (although that's dreaming big because Yanda very well might be the best guard in the past decade). I would prefer Barnett or MWill here, and I could potentially see us trading up with out #74 pick for one of them.

    Round 2 -

    Demarcus Walker

    DE

    Florida St.

This is a questionable pick, and probably won't be favorable. But he has a lot of potential and I think with some work he can be productive on the edge.

    Round 3 -

    Pat Elflein

    C

    Ohio St

Elflein, Lamp, Stanley, Lewis, Yanda. Holy freakin cow. Although if we sign Mangold we could go CB.

    Other round 3 -

    JuJu Smith-Schuster

    WR

    USC

I really like this kid. He's still really young and I think with some improvements on his route running, he can be really good. Perriman and Smith-Schuster for years to come would be rather nice.

    Round 4 -

    Ahkello Witherspoon

    CB

    Colorado

Mad coverage skills. Poor tackler, but a steal in the 4th.

    Round 5 -

    Lorenzo Jerome

    S

    St. Francis

He might be gone in the fourth, and if so we should pick him in the fourth. He could be a great successor to Weddle and we would have a great young secondary.

He was certainly worth more than we got. The pick swap should've been for our 4th, not our 3rd round comp pick. The fact that we couldn't play hardball for that to be the trade is concerning. If they wanted Jernigan that bad they would've done it. Just seemed like a lack of patience on our part, what was the rush to get a deal done today? Push for a better deal and wait it out. I HIGHLY doubt the Eagles would've pulled that offer if we didn't take it today.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you know what's been going on in the FO. None of what you just said is a fact, you are guessing. No one said the Eagles really wanted Jernigan. For all we know the two teams have been talking for weeks.

Why put a young player on the shelf all season if he's not hurt? Especially if he had any chance to play or help the team out?

It boils down to the coaching staff knowing he wasn't even in the plans to help the team out.

    He was hurt...

  5. I have mixed feelings about this. Jernigan was one of my favorite players on the team but he was likely gone after this year. His impact was minimal the entire second half of the season. As far as the swapping of picks, of course I would rather have a pick straight up. But he isn't worth a 3rd, and the swap is as good if not better than a straight up 4th. Quality is better than quantity in terms of picks, and we can definitely get a 2nd round player with the 74th pick. The difference between a really late 3rd and an early 3rd is rather big. That swap could very well be the difference in us being able to get Eiflen or another great prospect in the 3rd, rather than watching those guys leave the board. That pick is also worth a ton more than the 99th, and we very well might use that to trade up in the 1st to grab a guy like Mike Williams or Barnett. I'm really excited to see Urban healthy, I think he could be just as good or better than Guy. If we have Urban, Williams, and Pierce starting, that is a huge Dline and would be awesome in my opinion. Throw in guys like Henry, Davis, and Kaufusi, and I don't think we will miss Jernigan too much.

I would say Garrett Bolles from Utah. He super athletic for a big man and has a great story to go along with it

Another guy is Jarrad Davis from Florida, he's a very respected guy off the feild and has tons of talent as long as he can stay healthy.

One more is Chris wormley from Michigan. Hard worker and has tons of potential as a 5 tech.

All these guys are great players and I would love to have any of them but I don't think their draft stock fits with where we pick. They're all late 1st early 2nd round guys

Yeah I really like Jarrad Davis but I just don't trust his durability, similar situation with Lattimore.

There is just no way he is available at #16, that's why I didn't take him.

I never said he would be available, but that doesn't mean I can't be surprised because people aren't picking him as their preference, not prediction.

So you don't think 2 OLB/pass rushers with the first 2 picks is overkill?

I think one would suffice as we still have Suggs for the time being. However if there's a guy like Tim Williams still there for us in the 2nd, which I don't think he will be, I would be all for 2 edge rushers in a row. So I think it would be best to target other needs before double dipping unless there's a can't miss guy who falls in the 2nd.

Harbaugh seemed to vouch for him at the end of the year though?

Let me rephrase that. I really don't think he should be part of our longterm plan. Im sure they want him to step up, but he is definitely not the answer to our OLB problems.

@BOLDnPurPnBlacK I see what your saying and I do like cam Robinson because at worst he can still be an average gaurd. I just never like talking about ceilings. I don't like projecting what a guy can become because that's how you get yourself in trouble and the player ends up being a bust.

Fyi nobody ever truly believed the earth was flat. Theres nothing in scripts or history that suggests that everyone thought the earth was actually flat that's just something k-12 schools said because they got lazy. People did find ways to prove that the earth was round and it was more than 1 person, there were several. Just something interesting I thought you should know.

This is true. 99% of ancient Roman and Greek scholars knew the Earth was round. Although some people seem to still think it's flat today lol.

I personally love to see perennial cellar dwellers make a turnaround. Obviously it sucks they're in our division but it's just good for football. The titans, bucs, raiders and cowboys all made a big splash this year and I'm really excited to see the titans and bucs especially in the future. I personally would like to see the browns getting competitive, I would just hate to see them beat us lol.

Now the bengals... they can go back to the damn cellar the came from and stay there.

As long as the Bengals take a trip to the cellar I suppose it's alright if the Browns have a turnaround. But four competitive teams in the same division doesn't sound like fun.
