  1. I get that we would rather have almost anyone start instead of Hurst but there's no chance whatsoever that Lewis will start there over him. As bad as Hurst is, he's still probably better than Lewis right now at that position. Starting a rookie who's almost exclusively played guard for us so far - sans a handful of snaps in the first preseason game - is not a safer bet than Hurst, if anything is a way bigger gamble. Then throw in the fact that he's been at very least dealing with concussion symptoms all week and it's just not going to happen. As bad as he is, Hurst is the best option we have at LT if Stanley doesn't play.

  2. I can't see us putting Jimmy on Crabtree simply because he's matched up well against him in the past. Cooper is their clear #1 target and I don't trust Wright at all against him - Jimmy may match up well with Crabtree but Wright matches up poorly with Cooper whereas Jimmy matches up fine with Cooper and I trust Wright more to take on Crabtree. Wright has gotten beat deep on multiple occasions this season, he'd get smoked by Cooper one on one, at least with Crabtree we can sleep soundly at night knowing he's not going to get beat deep.

  3. This'll easily be the toughest game so far this year, Raiders definitely have the talent to be a darn good team but for some reason they just haven't been good so far. Carr is a good QB, they've got one of the best olines in the game, tons of talent on defense that just hasn't put it together yet - but could at any moment. I think this game could easily go either way with one big play possibly deciding it, I think we take this one at home 17 - 10 to get to 4 -0.

Still not convinced it's Trestman.  Our execution left a lot of yards uncollected.  My gut tell me we're going to continue to improve.

I think it has a ton to do with Trestman - sure it's not entire his fault but the bad play calling and lack of any adjustments is squarely on his shoulders. Our biggest offensive strength is our speed and the only time Trestman calls deep plays are when they're limited by the end zone, then we wonder how guys like Haden can keep up and pick it off - it's because Flacco is trying not to throw it out of the back of the endzone while trying to throw it far enough to hit the WR, that's an incredibly small window. Call deep balls when we've got room man. I won't blame the lack of run game totally on him but you'd think he'd at least try something new after our running game has sucked two games in a row but nope, just the same old plays and shotgun runs that rarely, if ever, work. Replacing Zuttah and Lewis would help the running and maybe we'd get more out of Trestman but based off what we've gotten he deserves at least a majority of the blame.

I'm thinking, is that Buffalo OC still available? They had the best rushing offense with him last year, I'm thinking he's fit...

No way we would bring in an outside coordinator midseason, we'd hire and interim. Trying to implement a new system - because the new coach would be coming in with no experience within the previous one - midseason is a recipe for disaster

Is there any way we can dump Trestman? I'm not normally one to blame things on coordinators but he's horrendous. I'm not sure we have anyone that could step into OC if we did fire him. Whatever his system is, it's not working. His play calling is worse than Cameron's and his philosophy in general just seems, uneven.

In coaching circles, there's this saying: "Do you have a system, or do you have a collection of plays?" I'm starting to think that Trestman lacks an actual system.

There's no chance whatsoever that we dump him after a W, it'd probably take a string of really really ugly performances in losses to finally get rid of him. We're just going to have to suck it up for the time being unfortunately

Peas called a great game. I thought Allen Robinson didn't play as good as people say he did, yeah he got those two TDs but outside of that he didn't cross 100. Didn't totally destroy us. I didn't see Hurns much too.

I would say Pees had a fine game, if he had had Jimmy shadow Robinson from the start then we might have been able to stop those TDs, there's no reason WRight should have ever been 1 on 1 with him, especially in the red zone.

Jernigan was the MVP today. A sack, two pass deflections, one that stopped a Jags drive that was deep in Ravens territory. Hell of a game.

I hesitate to give him the MVP because it seemed he was completely non existent until the 4th quarter. I mean his clutch plays at the end very well could have sealed this game for us if we had good play calling but shouldn't MVP go to somewhat who showed up all game?

Stanley got abused again this game. Mostly by Fowler which is depressing because you can't make the argument that he got beat by a veteran. They are both on the same level.

"again" doesn't belong in that sentence, he's been just fine the first two game, this was the first time he's really struggled. Fowler wasn't a top 5 pick because he was a bum now was he?

With the Jags playing the game without two of their offensive lineman, we need to get to Bortles early and often.  When he's rushed he makes errant throws that result in interceptions.  Getting our offense great field position from turnovers will be an important key to the game.

As it is Bortles likes to take chances, if we can get in his face - which I think we definitely can - then we might be getting plenty of turnovers today.
