  1. Haven't made a prediction yet - I'm going to be bold, we are long, long overdue for a comfortable win, I think we'll get it this week 27-7. They've got no run game and unlike the last two weeks I don't hate Wright on either of their starters. Doom with another week of play I think he gets his first sack of the season, their defense is atrocious so I think Trestman actually learns from last week and he goes in with the plan we ran with in the second half against the Raiders and we have our way with their defense. Run game gets established early with mostly West with some Dixon sprinkled in and then we start gashing them with play actions. Big game for Wallace against their second string CB, Pitta has a good day against those LBs, and West has a good 70 yard day on 16 carries.

Maybe with Washington's severe lack of run game Pees will finally get a little creative with the sets, throw in some extra DBs here and there, let Levine get some playing time.

I think we get back to our winning ways this Sunday vs. Redskins. Stanley will be out, Lewis moves over to LT, and Kenneth Dixon returns in the backfield ready to run. Ravens will be motivated to win at all cost, as they hate losing two in a row. Ravens win 31 to 24.

With the left side we're fielding, establishing the run will be tough - though the Redskins' terrible dline certainly helps - Lewis is a weak run blocker as is Urschel, both are good pass blockers first and foremost. I'd think if we were looking to establish the run game we'd roll with Jensen at LG since that's what he does exceptionally well - he just can't pass block to save his life.

i've decided i dont want to endure another heart attack game. I am going to sleep through, yes..sleep through this game and just take a peek at the score a few hours later..Ravens football is way too dramatic and if im going to watch a game i'd prefer knowing we have won or not bother going through the pain only to lose.

this game is really really important..i think its a game that will define our season going forward. We need to be 5-2 or 6-1 going into our bye. anything less and we aint making the playoffs.

I hope you understand the ramifications of your actions, if we win that game you will be contractually obligated to sleep through every game until it is proven that your sleeping isn't the cause of our victories.

  4. It really irks me that some people act as if Will Davis is some sort of savior and should be our #2 CB no questions asked. He played one full game for us against a Vick led, Bryant-less Steelers team. Who knows if he would have continued to play well against an actual #2 WR, it's impossible to say but crowning him the clear #2 and better than Wright after such a small sample size is preposterous.

Right now I don't believe we are that good of a team.   However,  finding ways to win,  even sloppy shows this team has some grit.   But I don't believe we will be able to hang with NE,  steelers,  maybe the Bengals..

I think we're actually a pretty darn good team. If our offense can find a run game - which it looks like we have with West and now Dixon is coming back - then our passing offense will be better. We just have to cross our fingers that Stanley stays healthy. Our defense is pretty great, run D is lights out but we need to get more pressure on opposing QBs which should improve the more time Doom has to shake off the rust and Jernigan's injury that he was dealing with all week clearly slowed him down on Sunday, so hopefully he's back in form this week. All things considered we only lost to a good Raiders team by 1 point even though we were missing half of our oline and had no offense in the first half - I'll take that as a good thing overall. Also, I don't think we'll have too much trouble hanging with the Steelers and Bengals, divisional games are different, we swept a clearly superior Steelers team last year and we are much improved, I don't see how we don't have a chance there, AFCN divisional games are usually close regardless of the caliber of the teams. As far as NE goes, we'll see but they're another team that we play a close game with 9 times out of 10.

Our biggest problem is offense, If Trestman had been doing what he did in the second half on Sunday for the first half then we would have won that game. Maybe he's finally going to start being the offensive wizard that he used to be known for. If we continue with that plan moving forward then I'm very hopeful about the direction our offense is headed. And if our offense can give our defense some rest then we will be a really good team. That Raiders offense had been prolific so far this season and our defense played great, if Pees made better redzone decisions then maybe we wouldn't have surrendered those TDs to Crabtree - I mean there is 0 reason that Wright should be one on one with big physical receivers in the redzone, happened against Crabtree and Robinson, Jimmy should be on those guys in the redzone every time - and get rid of that 4th quarter prevent D that we've been complaining about from the beginning then I think our defense can easily be top 10 in the league, maybe even top 5.

  6. Being the foolish optimist that I am - I saw promise today. I'm not all sunshine and rainbows but it wasn't a complete domination.

In the most general of terms, we did everything in our power to hand this game to them and we only managed to lose by 1. In a sense that's promising. We committed stupid penalties, our coaches made some of the dumbest mistakes I've ever seen watching football, offensive play calling - per usual - was terrible in the first half then we came out and it was great in the 3rd and most of the 4th, then the old Trestman showed back up on the final drive and called 4 back to back passing plays when we were running all over them. I was honestly fixing to come in here and defend Trestman after he bothered to make half time adjustments for the first time in his life until that final drive, now we're right back to square one with him really needing to go. I expected the Oline to be terrible, but they managed to show me up and be even worse when it came to pass blocking. My expectations for Hurst were low, situated about 3 cm off the ground, but I see now that I was being too optimistic there, hope Stanley is ready to go next week.

Our defense is fantastic at stopping the run, when we face the only run first team remaining on our schedule we should do very well. Pass rush is so inconsistent it makes you want to pull your hair out. Jimmy did great on Cooper, Crabtree was uncoverable for some reason. Defense played great most of the game but on that final drive they moved the ball at will.

Now we have to talk about the elephant in the room - Harbaugh throwing away a 4th down and give the Raiders' offense another chance just to back up a FG that would be taken by one of the best long distance kickers in NFL history. The single biggest mistake of the game and it's one someone as experienced as Harbaugh should never make. I don't have a problem with the decision to go for 2 at the end of the 3rd, it was a situational move, I'm sure if he could tell the future he wouldn't have made that call but as it stands that wasn't that big of a mistake. Also needs to be mentioned, Wallace's unsportsmanlike call, again, he been in the league long enough to know better, handed them great field position on their next drive, big mistake there.

It seemed like a 50/50 split on touches when forsett was the "starter." Does that title mean anything? Do we see t west with a 20+ touches workload.. Or is it going to be split about evenly again you think?

If we've been averaging say 24 carries/game total (I don't know the actual number but from what I remember that's about where it's been) then I expect it to be maybe 17 - 7 between the two.

Anyway as far as the rapoport tidbit does this mean Buck will be active or when they say Justin is benched does that just mean he's giving up the majority of carries? Or does "benched" mean how it sounds...

I hardly think Dixon is ready to go today..

until Dixon is back we hardly have the luxury to bench a RB in the usual sense so long as Buck keeps being inactive. Basically this probably just means that West will get the clear majority of snaps unlike the first three games where they had about an equal number.

  9. Of course I can't dictate what you think nor do I want to, but if I were to hypothetically put money down on it right now, I'd say with 100% certainty that if Stanley can't play and Lewis does then our oline will be Hurst - Lewis - Zuttah - Yanda - Wagner. I get the sentiment that Hurst is liability but a complete reshuffle in a game that in all likelihood isn't a must win is just not going to happen in my opinion. Hurst is not a good player but all other scenarios presented are much riskier than just playing Hurst - Yanda has never played LT, at least not in many many years, Lewis is a rookie that we haven't played there since the first preseason game, Wagner has had his fair share of disappointing games at RT so moving him over is a gamble We all would rather never have Hurst start again, there is no dispute here, but if we had no intentions on having him as backup LT then we simply wouldn't have kept him on the roster, we could have used that spot on multiple other players but we kept Hurst, we didn't keep him because we'd rather completely overhaul our line instead of playing him, that just doesn't make any sense. If history is any indication, from what I've seen we are at very least going to give Hurst a shot before doing anything rash.
