  1. I actually think you are talking about the same play in those two points. He held on to the ball in the pocket, scrambled out to the right and instead of running down the open lane he kept looking downfield and the rushers got to him.
  2. We might as well go ahead and start the "Next up Jaguars" thread, Browns are terrible But in all seriousness I don't think this one will be close. Not only are they just generally not good but we match up well against what little they do have. They don't have any real reliable pass rushers and that's what our oline struggled with today, their secondary is terrible and we have tons of weapons through the air, our defense looked rock solid against the Bills who may not be offensive minded but they have plenty of weapons and are head and shoulders better than the Browns. I genuinely see a blowout here and I don't like to throw that word around.
  3. Hard to say really, one game isn't enough to tell. We could be as legit as we looked, or we could have just matched up really well with the Bills offense - which we definitely did. We won't really know what caliber our D is until we go up against an actual offensive minded team, which won't really happen until maybe week 4 against Oakland.
  4. Colts are terrible at the lateral game
  5. I'm just getting in - has Elliott been as, frankly, bad as his statline suggests? I mean not even 3 yds/carry...
  6. yep, 10 yard runs into great coverage is the best way to tell speed, you've got it
  7. McCoy had less than 4 yards per carry...there was one drive where he ran all over us but that was pretty much it
  8. He only got like 3 real attempts and even then the coverage team was on him pretty quick...The Bills punter and coverage unit is one of the best
  9. Offense was good?? returns were about as well as you could ask for against a top tier punter and good coverage unit. Just because his name is Hester doesn't mean he will take one all the way every game...
  10. Defense top to bottom is good. During the Bills TD drive we have the dead to rights until McClellan missed the sack - Doom wouldn't have. Jimmy had a bit of a hard time to be honest, I was disappointed. Dline is great, Jernigan did great, Williams did what he does best. Orr was active and I loved it, Mosley was quiet which is pretty much a good thing. Wright was a pleasant surprise. Weddle made some plays, Webb can rush well but he has trouble getting the QB down when he gets there. Offense was bad, play calling was god awful. I did my best to refrain from blaming Trestman but the play calling was terrible. Yanda had an uncharacteristic rough outing, grabbed a couple penalties and I think more pressure came from the right side of the line than the left. People are going to overreact about Zuttah - that snap was obviously terrible and that whiffed block was bad but outside of that he was fine. Stanley did well, Lewis too. Flacco looked good and spread the ball around to like 10 different guys, he and Wallace definitely have some sort of connection. Forsett looked really good, seemed like every time he got the ball he was finding a hole somehow. West was better than the stats would indicate but the same sort of thing that plagued him after the first preseason game showed up again - he trying to do too much when sticking his foot in the dirt and bulling forward would be better. Smith was ok, shaking off some cob webs, now that he's not the only guy out there he mostly getting short stuff. Breshad had a fantastic first NFL catch, second one he should have caught but to be fair he did have a guy draped over him. Pitta's back baby, Maxx blocked well, didn't hear much from Gillmore. Tucker as good as always, Koch as good as always, really wanted hester to break one but you can't expect him to take one back every game, just not realistic.
  11. Those flags are really moving, looks like we've got quite the breeze going today
  12. I think Crockett is underrated, dude is so hard to bring down, you just gotta love a TE like that
  13. Sort of getting mixed messages from Buck being inactive. On the one hand carrying only two RBs seems like we'd be doing more passing than I was expecting but on the other hand Buck is our best receiving back, so I'm not really sure what we're going with here.
  14. better be because we only have two active
  15. Surprised by Davis and Allen. That only leaves us with Forsett and West for the game, not really sure why Davis is inactive, he seems like one of our better CBs, maybe he's got an injury.
  16. Not entirely surprising. Lewis showed good chemistry with Stanley to adjust and rotate to pick up rushers, unfortunately for Urschel he lost the job through no fault of his own. I'm sort of excited, I liked how Stanley and Lewis played together.
  17. Probably an entirely symbolic start, we'll most likely have a frequent rotation, whoever gets the majority of snaps will probably be entirely dependent on who gets hot
  18. I have a feeling Hester is going to break one for a TD. I find it sort of interesting that when people talk about all the speed we've got at receiver they forget to mention Hester - dude can still fly, sure I doubt he'll get much of any snaps at WR this week since we just signed him but after this game. Get him the ball in space and watch his magic, he was so electric in 2014 if the Falcons had competent blockers on ST then he would have gotten one or two more TDs. We got lucky to get him on the cheap.
  19. As much as we all dislike Hurst, I seriously doubt he will be inactive, he's our only other LT unless you want to count Lewis - which I wouldn't considering he got almost no snaps there at preseason - surely if we were looking at him to be our backup LT then we would have played him there more. Also, I really don't think we'd have our completely healthy second round pick inactive. Sure he didn't have any splash plays in preseason but he can be used in a variety of different ways. He only played there for a couple snaps in the first preseason game, if we were looking at him as a possible LT backup then surely he would have gotten more snaps there. As much as we all dislike Hurst, he's the only realistic backup LT.
  20. Buffalo's a fine team but honestly I think we match up really well with them, it certainly won't be a blowout, but I think we'll take this with a comfortable 24-9.
  21. I don't know, I think the Broncos are very overrated at this point
  22. Sorry for those wanting to see a dominant offense against the Bills but I think the keys on offense has to be the running game and lots of TE use. Buffalo's corners are great, outside passing game will be difficult but the TEs should have an easier time getting open against the Bills LBs. Without Dareus the Bills will be starting rookie Adolphis Washington at DE and Corbin Bryant at DT, that's a significant step down and helps our run game. Obviously Kyle Williams is not slouch at DT though. Left side of the oline is obviously the thing to watch, Stanley is going to have his hands full with Hughes as a rusher, it's a nice first test for him. On D it's a similar story, we have to stop the run game. Our run D in preseason was underwhelming, let's hope that was just the vanilla play calling and the actual D will be great against the run. Williams will obviously be lights out in the middle and Suggs back on the outside helps our case. I like our secondary vs. their receiving corps, Jimmy v. Watkins is the matchup to watch - I trust fully healthy Jimmy to get the job done. Assuming Wright is getting the start on the opposite side, he shouldn't be too bad against Woods. Our new and improved secondary should also help our case against this receiving corps. This takes us back to the run game, if the secondary does their job then we have to account for Tyrod's legs, keep him in the pocket, don't let him scramble. Pass rush needs to be there to stop him from running. I like how we match up against this Bills team. I think we take home the W on this one.
  23. Looks like a good group of guys, don't be surprised if Onwuasor makes the team next year or gets called up at some point this year. He looks like everything you'd want out of an ace special teamer, athletic and likes to hit - can't go wrong with that.
  24. Tampa's depth at WR is awful, I wouldn't be surprised if he is called up to their active roster sooner rather than later
  25. To be fair, I personally didn't see too much outrage over letting Ochi go, Butler definitely, but I think most people were well aware that Ochi was still unlikely given how little time he got in the preseason
