nothing has changed since last year until we make some drastic changes with our coaching, scheme, leadership and getting playmakers nothing will change and we will not get to the playoffs let alone the Super Bowl but lets be optimistic about everything and hope that we can make some good free agency moves have a great draft an we get on the same page with all aspects of our game lets go Ravens Nation
hopefully are secondary looks completely different next year Weddle,Smith,Young are the only ones in the secondary I would keep cut everyone else an start from scratch draft 2-3 CB 1-2 Safeties and we could get a safety in free agency to play next to Weddle
looks like ill only go to the preseason games this year 200+ for a ticket is ridiculous for any working person now days SMH
Ozzie usually does a good job drafting talent along the O-Line; the center position since Matt Birk left is the glaring exception (Gradkowski in the 3rd was a bust, AQ Shipley was too small, and Zuttah gets pushed around too much). The question is, do we want to move away from a zone-blocking style line (generally smaller, quicker, more athletic guys) to more of traditional in-line/trap style line with beasts up front that can win 1-1 battles, but maybe can't get to the second level as easily. I used to love watching our line with Ogden and Zeus break the huddle and dwarf the opposing D-Line - it was like men against boys.
Alex Lewis can move to RT if we draft a Guard and Center, and there are guys who were protected by the Ravens by being placed on IR. Tackles Stephane Namebot and D'Ondre Wesley could slide in at RT, or move inside. On the practice squad, Skura has some intriguing upside, and local product Broxton is a mauler at OG (needs to improve his footwork, though).
Not sure we'll keep Ducasse, who has issues in pass coverage. Hurst, Urschel and Jensen are good options as back-ups and should compete for starting roles. Hurst looked rough as a rookie LT last year, but remember that was his first year back after a major leg injury his senior year. Before that, he was touted as one of the top tackles in the country.I'm not sure if hurst will ever be a good enough LT or even RT in the NFL. Hes not strong enough to maul anyone and not fast enough to stay in front of good pass rushers. That's a disaster waiting to happen... I wouldn't mind sliding him inside just to see what we have in him but even then, he'd be on such a short leash that it's not even funny.
Jensen and Urschel are guys I like but still havnt proven they can keep Joe upright.
we have a solid foundation in Yanda Lewis and Stanley to build around. I just hope we don't throw a bunch of no ones in between them and expect much sucess. We need 3 good linemen if zuttah and Wagner leave and 2 quality backups if they stay.
hurst is a good right tackle like the first steelers game when wagner went down he stepped his game up and when he did get beat when he played LT look who it was against no scrubs for sure but yes he is raw but i think with some real coaching he could be good
if he does he will be a positional coach before anything big and I wouldn't mind seeing him come back here to ravens nation
we can't win unless flacco plays better an we need to run the ball more but that being said if the ravens drafted a RB in the first round that might force these "coaches" to run the ball. but I personally think it would be a mistake to draft a RB in the first round But as far as mike wallace goes ask him to take a pay cut or get rid of him he's good but not worth 8 mill. Then the TE situation I say cut both Pitta and watson saves money an we have some good young talent at TE to replace them. The biggest need is at CB and there is plenty of talented DBs in this draft so I would love to see us load up an get 3-5 DB 2-3 CB 1-2 Safeties but unfortunately we might draft just 2 like last year. As far as pass rush goes I think we have some good talent with Judon and smith but if we don't have a secondary to cover for more than 3 seconds how are you supposed to get any kind of pass rush going so that being said solidify the secondary then worry about the pass rush
Agree, Patriots don't have a great pass rush but their secondary makes them look like they got pass rush
That's because all of their guys have been playing together for years. Only two players have been on different team (Eagles) for a short time and they have a secondary General: Devin McCourty. (7 years). Which brings up again two questions. 1). Do Ravens suck that bad a player selection? 2). Or are the coaches doing a bad job?
We've not drafted CBs with high pick in the last decade, save for Jimmy Smith, and despite multiple efforts to find a value pick in later rounds, only Webb and Young come to mind as successes. We have been slightly better with veteran FAs - guys like Graham, Williams, and Stewart have done well enough here to price themselves out of our willingness to pay to retain them.
Perhaps the reason we haven't taken the secondary more seriously is that we had stability with Ed for so long, and we've usually managed to generate a pass rush. Weddle is finally a stabilizing force at the back end, but our pass rush has really fallen off.
our secondary covering for 3-4 seconds at the most is not enough for a pass rush until we have a good secondary there will be not pass rush mark my words
he's not worth the money even if we had it 6 mil a year is the most I would give him if he wants more good bye 96 tackles, 4.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in 4 years is not that impressive Ngata in his first 4 years had 124 solo tackles 6.5 sacks 2 forced fumbles 3 interceptions so again I don't think he's worth more than 6 mil a year
Whats the basis for the $6M number?
Also, I'd point out that Ngata's deal (which was signed in 2011 in a small salary cap era) was for 5 years, $61M, so an average of about $12M a year.
So if you use just the stats that you referenced (which aren't really that relevant, especially when you consider that Ngata and Brandon didn't play the same position in their first four years), then Brandon is about 80% as effective of a player as Ngata.
So if Ngata was worth $12M 5-6 years ago, and Brandon is 80% of the player he is now, then how do you justify paying him $6M, which is 50% less.
I assume now that the $6M was just a "thumb in the air" calculation conjured out of thin air?
the 6 mill was the most that I think we could pay him without killing the cap space and with his production it seems the most reasonable price for him which is my opinion

i want the falcons to win the super bowl plus most of us ravens fans hate the pats an squeelers
If Reuben Foster is at 16 take him but if not and peppers is still there take him imagine if it was C.J and peppers playing MLB for us we could cover any TE out there
REUBEN FOSTER should be are 1st round pick if he's still on the board
ozzie will pick Jabrill Peppers
wow this leaves a huge hole in the middle of are defense sad day for the ravens nation keep your head up Zachary Orr you will be missed
dean is not good plays scared zone in the 4th and will lose you the game doesn't hide the blitz good enough has CB playing 10 yards off the line rarely presses the receivers witch would give pass rush more time but in the end he will not be here much longer playing this way
this is a big upgrade from Juan Castillo
well the production for the vets is lacking big time so i guess they are as good as gone but hopefully we can get a trade for at least one of them that would be great but i don't see doom web zuttah here next year
TANOH KPASSAGNON,JARRON JONES,MONTRAVIUS ADAMS,EDDIE VANDERDOES,Hunter Dimick would be great D lineman to draft
Sidney Jones,Kevin King,DAMONTAE KAZEE,Channing Stripling all good CB to draft
Josh Jones,Rayshawn JenkinsJohn Johnson would be good FS to draft
JON TOTH,Kyle Fuller,ZACH BANNER,DANNY ISIDORA,GREG PYKE
Donnel Pumphrey,COREY CLEMENT,DE'ANGELO HENDERSON are the RB that we could draft
ISAIAH FORD,NOAH BROWN,Malachi Dupre,Chris Godwin,Stacy Coley would be good WR to draft
Obi Melifonwu,Dallas Lloyd,Jadar Johnson,DANTE BARNETT would be good SS to draft
DEVOTE FIELDS,Jimmie Gilbert,Tashawn Bower,Dylan Donahue would be good OLB to draft
even if we only get one of these guys ill be happy
more cheap talk can't wait to see some results for a change if it happens
Although Williams is a beast, we already have a promising backup in Michael Pierce, so it would surprise me if the Ravens offer him a big contract. Trying to keep Wagner might be more realistic since good RTs are harder to find and we don't have a decent backup on the team to replace him.
Only place Williams is a beast is at the dinner table ,he is so overrated he makes some plays but he takes plays off and at times gets man handled by 1 on 1's with guys that are smaller than him
Apparently you know better than just about the complete NFL analyst and expert scene... Because the prevailing view on Brandon Williams is quite the opposite of yours...
you obviously didn't watch the steelers game where he got manhandled lol
Hire Ed Reed away as defensive backs coach and promote Chris Hewitt to lead the secondary.
Also, don't get why the pundits are saying the 2015 draft will be a worse draft for us....Perriman can develop, as can Maxx Williams, Boyle and Allen....My darkhorse pick for future pro bowler is Carl DavisAs huge an icon as Ed was as a player, and as much as we all know he knows his trade inside and out, the truth is that his stint as a coach in Buffalo hasn't been really great. Ed still has to prove he can be a good NFL coach - and I'm not sure it should be in Baltimore...
Also, I'm not at all sure he's really into the idea of coaching under Harbaugh...
he was coaching in buffalo this year with rex
Could have a very solid coaching staff next season.
funniest thing I've heard all day
horrible decision to add another aging WR to come in and leave within 2-3 years
ok one more year of this nail biting hair pulling football left hopefully if we do not make the playoffs Bisciotti pulls the trigger on coaching staff but as far as going to a game I wouldn't go back until its worth the price and watching the ravens barely beat the eagles was heart wrenching and not worth the price but lets pray for another good draft CB OLB CB OL CB OLB WR RB OL WR hopefully in that order but with a strong free agency and draft we could be a division contender but ultimately its the coaches who will win or lose the games and hopefully they will be held accountable go ravens
