WE only signed him because Ozzie thought his first name was "Bama"

I mean, this all has to be Flacco's fault, right? That massive contract he signed will no longer allow the team to afford to keep the boards up and running. Reason #9569 we should trade him.

The forums are the only redeeming quality of this garbage site. Their only reason is that they feel they have better avenues for this same type of discussion. But in reality those avenues are large crowds of idiots who think cutting flacco and hiring ray Lewis to coach is the solution to everything. We have real football talk here, they want us to rant and rave with the village idiots. There is no valid reason here.

Hey guys, I know coming from someone with nearly no posts this seems strange, but I have been a daily reader of these forums dating back to 2011 and I've had a few different accounts here and there. I am currently a studying graphic designer, and me and my friend are currently producing a new forums page and I would appreciate it if you guys could check it out at launch, I know you will love it. I am working hard to duplicate it as close to these forums as possible, but adding a small point of my personal touch. I would hate to see this community fall apart, ranging from Biolizzard, to sami, and even wizards doomsday posts, I've learned to love this community just as much as my ravens. I don't want to deal with clueless Facebook fans, and you guys sure know your stuff. The launch date of the new forum will be May 5th. Apologies for the time, but as a student I'm extremely busy with finals this week. If you have any feedback or suggestions please just email me: forums@purpleflock.com ; this will be a well run and developed community. I only share this now to spread the word before the boards close. This community doesn't have to die. It will take some time to get to full potential, but I can ensure you a safe and efficient board with lots of room to grow. Later down the line (after launch and growth), I would love to write some articles myself, along with having those wiling and capable submit their own articles for use! Thanks for the read and check us at https://purpleflock.com !!

I certainly read it. @-Truth- is a very good writer and makes his case and organizes his thoughts well. Maybe it's too long for the average social media member to read, but definitely NOT too long for the knowledgeable Ravens fan from br.com.

Let me be brief. Most of what I feel has already been articulated pretty well by several people. To me why this site worked for many of us was simply the moderation involved in keeping the conversation civil and curtailing excessive trolling. That helped make this board very intellectually stimulating, educational and a whole lot of fun. Most of us have never met each other or perhaps never will. But, we can't deny that there was a kinship formed that isn't easy to erase (at least for me). Now, there is no substitute for that readily available for us to migrate to. Facebook and other social media websites are despicable in the content and exchanges. It is not a replacement for genuine fans of a ball club. That is what makes this closure so baffling to me. Sorry didn't end up brief.

^^^^ this is why I'm gonna miss this place. As a guy who never played, I've learned so much here from guys like @The Raven and @-Truth-, and @RavensFanMania. I would've never been able to form a solid opinion on prospects like Siragusa without people like this. Granted I'm at a disadvantage as I've never played the game competitively. But still. Damn this place for closing.

Not that you know the answer to this or anything... but if the boards are considered to be riddled with trolls and poor conversation, then why allow the absolute worst part of the boards to continue running? The news article comment sections are worse than world chat on a world of Warcraft private server. They're pure cancer

Maybe I'm alone here but I haven't lost any respect for the Ravens but rather their media team who decided this. It's not like Steve, Ozzie and John decided to close this forum after their meeting in FL. This is a Media Department decision likely from the team deciding they want to shift focus to more popular avenues. I can't blame them but I do personally disagree with their stance and think it's a poor decision to remove the forums rather than keep them at a limited capacity. I think it comes back to the promotions the team runs through its social media avenues, such as the contest to guess the 53, or other stuff like that. It's really minor in my opinion but who knows what kind of resources go into this place. I just don't understand why you'd want to take away a means fans use to connect. That seems foolish.

I am a pretty open guy, there is not a lot I have not revealed here. Not sure what would be interesting.... Perhaps this.... In my teen years ( the mid-late 80's ) ( NINETEEN eighties that is ) I did that BMX freestyle stuff. I was actually very good. Yup. That is me.

To get somewhat back on topic, it's been real guys. My time on message boards is likely coming to an end this Friday, as I don't immediately plan to join any other site. I think that time has come to focus more on real life, despite how much I've enjoyed talking football with many of you. I figured I'd say my "goodbyes" now before Friday so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. I'll still be around over the next couple of days so feel free to reach out. A few of you have my personal contact information, and I'd be more than happy to share it with a few others that have meant a great deal over these last 6 years if you'd like to keep in contact. If one of these new homes starts to develop a following, I may consider a return to the message board world. I can honestly say I wouldn't know the game of football as well as I do without a large majority of you. I have always considered myself more knowledgeable than the average football fan that calls into 105.7, but learning from a lot of you really made me realize just how complex this game is. Learning how to evaluate prospects, read coverages, etc. wouldn't have happened without the insane amount of knowledge that can be found around here (some more than others, obviously). I sincerely thank you guys as it has really strengthened my love for the game, despite never playing it other than backyard games in the neighborhood. It's been real, ya'll. Go Ravens!

You dont want DGB. All that was ever attractive was his size/speed but he plays slower than his measurement and plays much smaller. I live in Philly and watch all their games and by the end of the season guys like Bryce Treggs were playing over him. Who's Bryce Treggs you ask? Exactly.

It's been real. It was great that we at least had this forum, this space for awhile. I truly appreciate each and everyone here for simply being here and sharing a thought. No matter if we agree or disagree, it's the sharing that matters no matter where we get that opportunity to share again. Thank you my brothers and sisters eternal. billion dollar company cant afford official team forum. guess we finally have some money to get that high priced receiver in FA. seriously wonder who where those geniuses who made this decision. usually companies cherish/reward those who are loyal , rather then tell them to piss off and find somewhere else cause they aint worth the cost.

Wow, so you're sustaining the part of the site absent of real discourse, while eliminating the only place discussion occurs? Good thinking. Thanks for your contribution to the dumbing down of society.

Since the announcement about closing the message I have sent three messages on Contact Us and received nothing in return. I did call the Ravens' office twice and did receive a return call. I was told the reason for closing the boards was the dramatic drop in usage. I am a late comer to the boards but I will miss them.

I take it there's no going back on this decision huh? Btw thanks for the extension. It was nice to have a final draft here if it's the last one.

Brian Billick @CoachBillick Tyus Bowser may be the best cover LB in the #NFLDraft...mirrored Dalvin Cook down the field in bowl game and can be a depth blitzer.

What's ridiculous is that a team would be cutting part of its own site that generates ad revenue and saying "visit us on social media" where they get nothing.

The two groups need to get together and combine and create one forum. The website address for boldnpurples is awful, but the has the loyalty of the members. Hopefully egos don't get in the way and together they can great a great forum.

I think Bowser is a much better OLB than Correa. I think Correa will make a good ILB though

No matter what you may think, at least we don't have the bengals FO. I am legitimately shocked they haven't tried to get Greg hardy back in the league.

Alright, Tyus Bowser. Just watched him against Cincinnati, Memphis, and some of Louisville. Tyus Bowser isn't Von Miller. He's not Kamalei Correa. He isn't Terrell Suggs, and I don't even think he's a full time edge in the NFL. As @terps85 and @rmw10 said first, I see Jamie Collins. He's freakishly athletic, he can cover with the best of em, he's smart, and he has good instincts. He does not, however, have the size or hand use to be a full time edge player. He will get eaten alive on the edge in the NFL. In watching film, there weren't enough snaps where he was even rushing for me to judge his pass rushing fairly, but from what I saw, he just looks fast. That is his only value as a pass rusher. Burst off the line and agility around the edge. Makes for a great blitzer but not a good on the line pass rusher. I know @GrimCoconut says Bowser can disengage, but I personally don't see it. I don't see a guy that uses his hands to disengage from a block and get to the QB. Instead, I see a guy that runs and runs and runs until the lineman loses him. I see Tyus playing Will next to Mosley, blitzing frequently and acting as the spy against guys like Cam Newton. I do think this a good pick. It's good value. He brings a lot to the table. I just don't see him playing the edge, and if Ozzie does, I want to know what he knows. But I also like how he fits in with the guys we have. With DBs like Jefferson, Weddle, and Humphrey who can blitz, and a LB who can cover, I see the potential for a crap ton of truly effective zone blitzes. Bowser is good, but he's even better as a piece of the puzzle, because of what he allows you to do.

You do realize we gave up the most go ahead TDs in the league over the past two years right?

It wouldn't be half bad if it is Flacco. I'll go with Alex Lewis shining as a right tackle.

Exactly the point @-Truth- is making. The reason is the quest for numbers in a "flavour of the day" form, without any regard to substance.
