I am beyond excited. Humphrey fits like a glove in this defense. I have so much hope that he'll be an excellent pro for so many years to come. I called this one.

Another QB celebrating not being a Brown.

Yeah, anyone who watched Alabama knows he struggled to turn and locate the ball. You're not bringing some new revelation by posting the exact same thing 10 times over.

I agree with you guys... when Reddick and Barnett went right ahead of us I immediately went to pass rush rd 2. Hoping that we feel comfortable with Williams and he makes it to us bc I think he's got Top 15 talent. OL I still think we sign Mangold after the draft and with Lewis at LG I think we'd be fine with in an house option or later pick to play RT. Or maybe Elflein or Dorian Johnson in the 3rd and you play them next to Mangold for a year or two and kick Elf into C later and Lewis plays RT. Either way I think we're one drafted player from being set on the OL. Jordan Morgan might even be a 4th/5th rd option that can step in Day 1 at LG or RT and give us an upgrade. And I'm not in love with any WR at 47. Pass rush, pass rush, pass rush. I'd be happy with any of the 4 but I go Tim Williams, Carl Lawson, Tyus Bowser, Jordan Willis in order of preference.

You feel deflated because we selected a guy that no one mocked to us and whose average draft projection was in the 20s or later. You'd feel better if we got a guy that was projected higher than our selection, because it would feel like we got a steal. Of course, none of that matters. All that matters is what Humphreys does for us on the field compared to some of the guys we passed on.

Wow Howard still on the board. So Foster, Allen, Howard, Lattimore, Hooker, Reddick and Barnett! So we are destined to land a stud guaranteed. And if Ozzie now decides to pick an O-lineman I am going to break my TV

He's only a late second rounder if you have no idea how to evaluate a player

ozzie must be ecstatic right now. cam robinson and forrest lamp are still on the board. one could really fall to us at 47, if not it pushes a guy like dion dawkins. also, carl lawson, bowser, t will, mcdowell, we have a lot of great options potentially at 47

You are permanently living in a dark era.

Yeah, I see nothing wrong with taking two injured players. Real smart there bro.

So what you're saying is? No one fights like Humphrey No one bites like Humphrey No one blows up screens and breaks up like Humphrey For there's no man in town half as awesome? As a scheme fit he's a paragon You can ask BmoreBird22 and rmw. And they'll tell you who's team they'd prefer he'd be on?

Just revisiting this to... uh... point out that first round pick at 16.

You would be 100% correct if we took someone like Tabor or Awuzie. Not to mention they're still on the board. This guy got absolutely torched down the field, IN COLLEGE, with one of the best Front 7's of all time in front of him................ You're telling me you want that going up against Brady and Ben? When It matters. Especially this year? We'll see. In any case, I agree, let's kick butt day 2. It IS make or break time What happened when your "better version of Boldin" WR JuJu lined up against him? 1 catch for 9 yards. Humphrey dominated him. So, if Humphrey is a bum CB, then JuJu must be a horrible WR that can't play against press coverage. In Saban's defense, CB are put on an island with no safety help. Yes he got burned in a few games but he dominated in a few games as well. Kid is big, fast, physical, has elite closing speed and is only 20 years old! He needs to work on some technique issues - but that's it. Will be a stud CB in this league.

I'm happy with this pick. cleveland has Gordon & Coleman Steelers have Brown and Bryant Bengals have AJ, Ross and the Pitt guy. We NEED to have a good secondary in this division.
  28. 4 points
Something I hadn't even considered but marlon Humphrey spent a lot of his time at bama playing LCB which would fit right in with jimmy on the other side

Quincy Wilson, Awuzie, K King, Tim Williams, Cam Robinson, Forest Lamp, Malik Mcdowell, Carl Lawson, Juju, Zay, Jordan Willis, Tyus Bowser all still available - that's 12 guys and we have the 15th pick tomorrow...

I've seen him called the best corner within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and I'd agree. Excellent height/weight/speed/length to be a physical press man corner that can blow up screens and outside runs. And he's the best run defending corner in the draft, bar none. He's very aggressive and can hit like a truck. He recognizes and digests routes well. He makes pretty good breaks on the balls, but will get much better with better footwork. He struggles on deep balls. He'll flip his hips too early to defend the deep ball and bites on double moves. Average ball production that should spike with better footwork. Does not turn his head enough at the moment.

Relax, we can still find some pass rushing, edge setting DE's in the following rounds
  32. 4 points
I thought we were supposed to improve pass rush to hide the secondary weaknesses, yet we are improving the secondary in hopes to cover for the lack of pass rush?
  33. 4 points
It's a good thing we still have 5 months and a ton of player cuts to fill out the roster. Oh and the rest if the draft!

Wright's no longer with the team.

I dont understand why we didnt trade back. He probably would have been available at 24 or even 28

Welcome, Kid. Go ball out and make us proud.

Last year I laughed because ATL selected Neal. In the end it's all about fit and how a player can boost your team.

The Humphrey pick makes more sense when you consider this: Could be Jimmy Smith's final season. With his injury history as of late and he counts $13M against the cap in 2018. Just saying.
  39. 4 points
No worries, Ross will play 6 games per year on average, before retiring in 2 years.
  40. 4 points
The hoi poloi here hates the pick, so that means it was probably a good decision.
  41. 4 points
He fits perfectly in the Dean Pees defense. Put him in the Tampa 2 or Cover 3 and he'll kill it. He has so much ability. I am so happy.

Indy you owe the city of Baltimore for leaving. If you take Cam right now...we can call it even.

You saved us. You are forever a saint.

Oh, they'll find other reasons to complain!

People were generally unimpressed with CJ Mosley on draft night, some outright hated the pick. I never forget that when I see knee jerk reactions to draft picks on here. I think Humphrey is going to be a stud once he fills out a little more and matures. I actually think Humphrey is more pro ready than Jimmy was coming out but we won't really see the player he's going to be until year 2 and 3. This guy is an AFCN player, big and physical for his position. I love that he can be a factor in run support and hit. Maybe not the best pure cover corner, but much like Jimmy, if he can get a good jam on you and disrupt the timing of the route he can really cause problems for an offense. We have a very physical secondary and a bunch of corners that can put hands on you at the point of attack. My only gripe was positional value, there are going to be so many CB's available in round 2 (Wilson, King, Auwuzie, Tabor, Jones), Why not take Allen or Howard because you know another good CB is going to make it to us in the 2nd, the class is stacked with them. I just hope Humphrey separates himself from that pack and proves why he was taken where he was.

I'm really glad Ozzie finally bought into the "you can never have too many corners" mantra he's been touting for years.

I hope Trubisky is the best QB from this class and Garrett becomes the biggest bust ever.
