Would you be saying the same thing if he fails another couple of drug tests and gets a 4 game suspension after we pick him? It's foolish to say it'd be unacceptable because we know none of the facts. If he makes it to us and we take him, it shows we have the comfort. If not, I think it goes to show that Ozzie vetted his Alabama sources and determined he wasn't worth the risk. By no means would passing on him be unacceptable just because he's a good player. He can't be a good player if he's not on the field, and that may or may not be a real concern.

That’s right guys. I’m doing a full not one, but TWO full rounds. Why? Because screw these forums for closing. That’s why. Rules. Carolina Panthers from New England Patriots- Carl Lawson, Edge So let’s get into the skinny Round One: Forrest Lamp, OG Yes. I have the Titans trading up a few spots. They think that we are going to take their target(John Ross) and we call them on their bluff, and get their second third rounder in the back-end of the third round. Leaving us with three third rounders. A good trade, because we end up with our guy anyway. You all know my thoughts on Lamp. He’s an Ozzie Newsome pick. Blue collar, works hard, smart. He could even step in at center, which could potentially give us an elite interior as soon as this year. Lamp is a guy I love. Other picks we could make. Derek Barnett- My favorite prospect for us. But I have a feeling that we are going offensive line. Corey Davis- if he falls here he might be BPA by default. Mike Williams- see above Cam Robinson-.... OZZIE I SWEAR TO GOD. Round Two: Takkarist Mckinley, Edge Takk is a freak athlete, who might fall because he’s a bit of a one year wonder. Remember how we all hated the Correa pick because a majority of his sacks were effort sacks? Yeah, Mckinley’s work ethic on the field might surpass that entirely. And has significantly better pass rush ability, with a multitude of moves to work with. He gives us a guy who puts in a ton of effort, and with that work ethic, combined with good hand usage, I think that he could become a damn good edge rusher for us at the pro level.... But wait. There’s more. Other options Sydney Jones- Would love him here Either Bama edge rusher- Ozzie... I’d be okay with these two. Fabian Moreau- Damn good cover corner with room to grow Jake Butt- A round earlier than he’s projected to go? Why not? Speaking of.... Round Three: Jake Butt, TE Are you surprised? If you were congrats. You must be the dumbest person alive.... Or Winchester. ā€œJake Butt doesn’t have that fast twitch muscle. Fat Butt(LOL, could you imagine?) and Fat Maxx!" I love Maxx going forward as the #1. I don’t trust Pitta as much, Boyle is moving to FB, and Crockett Gillmore got hurt as I was typing this. Anyway, Kim Kardashian(get it?) here is a classic catch and turn TE who’s got very reliable hands, is a good blocker, and a good route runner. I like Jake Butt and I cannot lie. You other posters can’t deny... Round Three: Shaquille Griffin, CB, Sorry rmw. I’m taking a page from your book and I wrote this on April 5th. Why did you hack my google doc? Smh Anyway. Griffin does a lot of things well, and is a jack of all trades, master of none. He’s not gonna be a star, but he’d be great depth.. and yes, that is a picture of Jake Butt beating him. I couldn't resist Round Three: Isaiah Ford, WR Ford gets a bad rap. The damn combine utterly ruined him and he doesn’t deserve it. He seems like he could be a much better version of Chris Moore. Which is a useful commodity as Moore isn’t a bad route runner. Just be happy that people put too much stock in the combine and the 40. I think he could be a day one contributer on the offense. Thank you Titans Round Four: Chase Roullier, C SCREW YOU RMW... You had to bring light to a player I’ve had under the radar. I made this mock weeks ago and frankly, you have to come and ruin my fun! Let’s talk about a mauler. Remember how I said Lamp could play center? Yeah.. About that. I think what we do is sign Mangold anyway, and then put Lamp at G. Which is the right move. Roullier is an absolute mauler, and it would do us some good to give a guy like him a year to develop. He won’t contribute immediately, but I think he could be a franchise center going forward. This would also force the coaching staff to kick Lewis out to RT, which I think he’d fare nicely anyway. Round Five: Tedric Thompson, S ā€œBut Lost, we’ve invested a lot at the safety position already. Why are we drafting oneā€. Because screw you, that’s why. That’s why. And this is a total homer pick. But I really like Thompson’s game. With Webb and Weddle as his teachers he could become a very valuable rotational piece going forward, or he could become the guy who succeeds them in a few years. He has good instincts in coverage, and frankly this would be a best player available pick. Round Six: Jahad Thomas, RB/WR ā€œBut Lost, We have pressing needs at DT, and ILB.ā€ Screw that. Past 2 seasons we’ve draft Carl Davis, Bronson Kaufausi, Willie Henry, and have picked up Michael Pierce in UDFA. We’re fine there. And we always seem to find a good #2 ILB whether it’d be Jameel McClain, or Darnell Ellerbe, or finding Daryl Smith in FA. And I like Correa at ILB. Meet, Jahad Thomas. The homeless man’s version of Christian McCaffery. He has a rare cutting ability and can make video game moves. He can also fill in kick returns, play slot WR, and be a good third down back for when Danny Woodhead gets injured. He’s a guy I think could have a use on the offense, and frankly we could use that. Oh, and s/o to @-Truth- for pointing me in the direction of Thomas And that my friends(and @rmw10 I did not copy you I swear) is my final mock before the draft. Coming a little ahead of schedule? Oh hell yes. I’m busy. Hope y’all liked it. If not, either way screw you.

See - this is why i cant take some fans seriously. Thats hindsight analysis. Unfortunately real life doesnt work that way. If they do draft him and he hits a woman on camera --- they lose their jobs and everyone calls for their head. Period. Theyre untouchable now. All Pro or not; and whether or not Ray Rice ever happened, some times you do have to take a moral stand. Win at all costs??? Nah. Because I know we can win while maintaining some integrity. Its certainly a fine line and you cant have a team of choir boys. But punching women in the face, choking them, raping them -- its far beyond the line. Who cares if you can ball if youre a Crap human being. Redeem yourself. Go ahead. Just no on my time, or Bisciotti's dime. You want him? You risk your money to pay him.

As much as I desire a flashy playmaker like Barnett or Mike Williams, I wouldn't be too upset with someone like Lamp in the first. The 2nd round is full of potential difference makers, someone like Juju would make me very happy.

It's almost that time... 1 Cleveland - Myles Garrett DE 2 SF - Jamal Adams S 3 Chicago - Malik Hooker S 4 Jax - Leonard Fournette RB 5 Tenn - Marshon Lattimore CB 6 *Cleveland - Mitch Trubisky QB 7 LAC - Solomon Thomas DE 8 Carolina - Christian McCaffrey RB 9 Cinci - Haason Reddick OLB 10 Buffalo - OJ Howard TE 11 NO - Rueben Foster LB 12 *NYJ - Deshaun Watson QB 13 Arizona - Patrick Mahomes QB 14 Philly - Gareon Conley CB 15 Indi - Jonathan Allen DE 16 Baltimore - Mike Williams WR 17 Washington - Dalvin Cook RB 18 Tenn - Corey Davis WR 19 Tampa Bay - David Njoku TE 20 Denver - Ryan Ramzcyk OT 21 Detroit - Charles Harris DE 22 Miami - Derek Barnett DE 23 NYG - Forrest Lamp OL 24 Oakland - Marlon Humphrey CB 25 Houston - Cam Robinson OL 26 Seattle - Garett Bolles OT 27 KC - Jarrad Davis LB 28 Dallas - Taco Charlton DE 29 GB - Takkarist McKinley OLB 30 Pitt - Jabrill Peppers S 31 ATL - Chidobe Awuzie CB 32 NO - Tre'Davious White CB Ravens selections: 1st Round: Mike Williams | WR | Clemson Williams could obviously go earlier, but he could also fall due to some rising QB's and a number of great defenders. One of Williams or Davis should be there at 16 if the Ravens want one of them. Mike Williams will always have his weaknesses but his strengths are so overwhelming. He's built like a power forward with his size and wingspan. Has an elite ability to position his body, time his jump and come down with the ball. Speed is decent enough for his size. He's the ideal 3rd down and red zone target for Flacco and there's a lot of Alshon Jeffrey to his game. Williams is battle tested in big moments and has performed well versus the top DB's college has to offer. 2nd: Dion Dawkins | OL | Temple I would think offensive line is the biggest priority to get a starter at. Dawkins played tackle at Temple, and his best fit may be inside. The team wants to get bigger up front and Dawkins would provide some much needed power to the run game. Dawkins is athletic enough to be a good pass protector as well, particularly in the interior. He and Lewis' versatility would be valuable. Those two along with Stanley are great young pieces to put with Yanda. The team likes Temple players as well. 3rd: Derek Rivers | OLB | Youngstown State Rivers checks off the small school player criteria of elite production. He jumps off the tape with his athleticism. Shows good bend around the corner and wins with explosion, leverage and power. The step up in competition will be steep, but I think the potential is there for him to be really good. The Ravens are great at developing athletic linebackers like Rivers. Waiting this long to address pass rusher isn't ideal, but the offense could take precedence as they are currently lightyears behind the defense. I do like the depth at OLB in the first few rounds too. I hope we come away with a guy like Rivers, Lawson, Williams, Bowser or even Basham. This could also depend on how the team views Judon's potential. I wouldn't count on Z Smith making an impact, but don't forget Kaufusi is also an option to play some there in a four man front. 3rd Round: Rasul Douglas | CB | West Virginia Douglas is a long corner with great ball skills. His instincts and awareness put him in good position and allow him to create a lot of turnovers. He will need to be protected over top a bit because of some stiffness and lack of long speed, but he has the ability to be a playmaking outside CB. Great fit in Pees' zone defense and he has the size and physicality to grow in press man. 4th Round: Ejaun Price | OLB | Pittsburgh Price is one of the rare short edge rushers I actually like. He makes up for his stature by having long arms and winning the leverage battle. Off the line he's explosive and very powerful engaging blockers. He'll probably never be a full time player, but could be quite valuable in a Dumervil esque role. Ozzie may look to double dip at edge rusher considering Judon is really the only future option and it is a pretty good class. Despite the size limitation, I think Price's game translates to the next level. 5th Round: Jon Toth | C | Kentucky Developmental center with the power to make become an impact run defender. Dawkins and Toth are both the type of linemen that D'Alessandris does well with. 6th: Blair Brown | ILB | Ohio Undersized linebacker with toughness and instincts. He may always be a rotational backer, but can be a good one. Unless Foster falls to 16, a rotation next to Mosley is probably the way to go.

Some of you guys need to remember that taking a guy with DV history isn't just a risk to the image of the organization and the potential of the player doing it again. These guys making the draft picks have a job that they would like to keep. If they back a guy like that and he ends up beating the hell out of another woman, you can bet they don't have much job security.
  29. 3 points
But you gotta gauge the risk. If a guy is a known woman beater, and you have a major history in that regard on your team, you just can't. There is a thing called press, and the ravens don't want to be known to condone domestic violence by employing players convicted of it. After trying to cover up the ray rice scandal they can't afford to do this. And they shouldn't. Guys who do this really don't deserve the chance of a lifetime to make millions playing a game. For other teams, you decide whether or not it's worth the risk. Doesn't matter if he's an all pro for his first 2 years if he decides to beat up his girlfriend and get put out of the league after. It's like if doctors tell a team that Jonathan Allen won't finish out a rookie contract and could often be inhibited by his arthritis in his shoulder, you don't draft the guy top 5 on the chance that the doctors are wrong, you gauge the risk vs reward and decide if you can afford to miss on that pick when he sits 6 games a year for 4 seasons and then retires. When that happens you can't throw your hands up and act surprised, it was a dumb pick because you knew it would happen. Same applies to bonehead repeat offending woman beaters

Flacco isn't the kind of QB that makes ordinary WRs into stars. He needs stars to catch balls from him because he doesn't have the football instincts of a Tom Brady or Drew Brees. He is just a talented QB with a great strong arm and not very accurate. So we should accept who he is and make sure he succeeds by giving him the weapons at receiver that can make contested catches, get wide open and catch all balls thrown to them. As for him being worth 100M, sure he is because that is the market for these guys. If you have a franchise QB you pay him market price and there is no guarantee he's going to be Brady either. We are lucky we have Flacco right now. It could be a whole lot worse.
  34. 3 points
No, they'll spew cancer and aids on the ravens FB and twitter page, and talk about "now that we've gotten 2 rings out of flacco it's time to move on! Let's not have another 2013 disaster! And Ozzie can go too because he still hasn't brought back boldin!"

Just to re-up on the Chad Forbes tweet earlier Jeff zrebiec said something close to it responding to a question from a fan about Forrest Lamp to the ravens Jeff Zrebiecā€ @jeffzrebiecsun Replying to @JoeSchillerr little high for my liking but he's gonna be a good player and can play 3 spots. May come down to him and Davis at 16 unless a LB falls. (aka Rueben Foster)
  36. 3 points
Heap was 32 since we had just won the Super Bowl when we got him
  37. 3 points
It seems like both sides exaggerate in arguments about Ozzie just for the sake proving the other side wrong. I don't think he's perfect, but he's been right more often than he's been wrong, which is more than I can say for many GMs over the years. So, yeah, I'll trust him.
  38. 3 points
Hes not infallible. I just hate when people go our of their way to defend him. I've seen in recent years players hating someone pre draft then change their tune and say in Ozzie we trust as if he's never made a mistake. And guess what, low and behold their original assessment was correct
  39. 3 points
You sure about this? @The Raven how could you be tired of the cliches? We're returning to smash mouth football. We could potentially, finally draft a #1 wr to pair with our elite qb. Deep draft too, so we may be able to get a CB and OLB to help our defense return to organized chaos. No more gutless play calling from passive Pees and his 3 man rushes. Also, even though we lost Zack Orr, we still have the heart and soul of our defense in Mosley.... Miss anything?
  40. 3 points
Pitta only got separation on five yard curl routes and two yard flat routes that had no potential to convert third down. He found the literal dead zone where nobody was because it didn't ever matter if he went there. He'd run short of sticks and fall down before even thinking about breaking a tackle for YAC. But hey, at least he's open and catches every wide open pass. And good god if I read one more mindless cliche like "heart of a lion" I will vomit. Do you guys watch Disney movies and Hallmark movies nonstop with all these cliches? Or do you just listen to aimless, hackneyed Ray Lewis speeches on repeat, for days at a time? I swear I don't think any of the coaches I played for said "heart" more than once a year -- at the end of the year banquet, talking about the guy that never played a down but got the crap kicked out of him in practice.

Abandon the inside zone, it doesn't work unless your line has a very specific skill set. Use the damn speed we have on offense. Our qb has probably the 2nd strongest cannon in the league, no need to emphasize hitting fast guys in stride on crossing routes when our receivers can get downfield in a hurry and our qb can get it there with a flick of the wrist just take pitta off the field so joe can't default to him all the time use pre snap motions for once
