The idea that Joe is not capable of being a WCO QB is just flat out wrong since his best year came in Kubiak's WCO. The issue is he needs a QB coach that will keep him reined in with good feet. We need an OC that drills into his head -- like Kubiak did -- that you need to throw to your reads and not wait for the deep ball. That's the advice I guess I'd give. Fix Joe's technique and work with him on making fewer risky decisions. WCO works in rhythm. It works when you take what the defense gives you. I'd also advise using a run scheme that fits the personnel. You know, like not using a tight zone with a weak line. If the line is mobile run wide zone. If they're slow, run gap and power til a defense crumbles. And for pete's sake stop wasting people's talent. He's gone now but Juice was woefully underused by every OC we've had. Kamar, yes, even Kamar, was underused. We could've used a big, strong handed receiver with solid route running and the ability to break tackles. Yet, we didn't even use Kamar. We needed a center that could hold his own in a bar fight and we trot out pathetic ole Zuttah, when we have a pancake machine in Jensen sitting on the bench. Too often, we ask round pegs to fill square holes, when we already have square pegs. Too often, we get guys that fill a certain role, and then we use them in another. I really think there's a disconnect between the FO and the coaching staff. Our personnel rarely reflects our scheme and philosophy. I think Pees and the FO are finally on the same page, but I don't think our offensive staff has ever connected with the draft team.

Dallas Cowboys- Tim Williams, Edge 29 (61). Green Bay Packers-Ryan Anderson, Edge 30 (62). Pittsburgh Steelers-Chris Godwin, WR 31 (63). Atlanta Falcons-David Sharpe, OT 32 (64). Carolina Panthers from New England Patriots- Carl Lawson, Edge So let’s get into the skinny Round One: Forrest Lamp, OG Yes. I have the Titans trading up a few spots. They think that we are going to take their target(John Ross) and we call them on their bluff, and get their second third rounder in the back-end of the third round. Leaving us with three third rounders. A good trade, because we end up with our guy anyway. You all know my thoughts on Lamp. He’s an Ozzie Newsome pick. Blue collar, works hard, smart. He could even step in at center, which could potentially give us an elite interior as soon as this year. Lamp is a guy I love. Other picks we could make. Derek Barnett- My favorite prospect for us. But I have a feeling that we are going offensive line. Corey Davis- if he falls here he might be BPA by default. Mike Williams- see above Cam Robinson-.... OZZIE I SWEAR TO GOD. Round Two: Takkarist Mckinley, Edge Takk is a freak athlete, who might fall because he’s a bit of a one year wonder. Remember how we all hated the Correa pick because a majority of his sacks were effort sacks? Yeah, Mckinley’s work ethic on the field might surpass that entirely. And has significantly better pass rush ability, with a multitude of moves to work with. He gives us a guy who puts in a ton of effort, and with that work ethic, combined with good hand usage, I think that he could become a damn good edge rusher for us at the pro level.... But wait. There’s more. Other options Sydney Jones- Would love him here Either Bama edge rusher- Ozzie... I’d be okay with these two. Fabian Moreau- Damn good cover corner with room to grow Jake Butt- A round earlier than he’s projected to go? Why not? Speaking of.... Round Three: Jake Butt, TE Are you surprised? If you were congrats. You must be the dumbest person alive.... Or Winchester. “Jake Butt doesn’t have that fast twitch muscle. Fat Butt(LOL, could you imagine?) and Fat Maxx!" I love Maxx going forward as the #1. I don’t trust Pitta as much, Boyle is moving to FB, and Crockett Gillmore got hurt as I was typing this. Anyway, Kim Kardashian(get it?) here is a classic catch and turn TE who’s got very reliable hands, is a good blocker, and a good route runner. I like Jake Butt and I cannot lie. You other posters can’t deny... Round Three: Shaquille Griffin, CB, Sorry rmw. I’m taking a page from your book and I wrote this on April 5th. Why did you hack my google doc? Smh Anyway. Griffin does a lot of things well, and is a jack of all trades, master of none. He’s not gonna be a star, but he’d be great depth.. and yes, that is a picture of Jake Butt beating him. I couldn't resist Round Three: Isaiah Ford, WR Ford gets a bad rap. The damn combine utterly ruined him and he doesn’t deserve it. He seems like he could be a much better version of Chris Moore. Which is a useful commodity as Moore isn’t a bad route runner. Just be happy that people put too much stock in the combine and the 40. I think he could be a day one contributer on the offense. Thank you Titans Round Four: Chase Roullier, C SCREW YOU RMW... You had to bring light to a player I’ve had under the radar. I made this mock weeks ago and frankly, you have to come and ruin my fun! Let’s talk about a mauler. Remember how I said Lamp could play center? Yeah.. About that. I think what we do is sign Mangold anyway, and then put Lamp at G. Which is the right move. Roullier is an absolute mauler, and it would do us some good to give a guy like him a year to develop. He won’t contribute immediately, but I think he could be a franchise center going forward. This would also force the coaching staff to kick Lewis out to RT, which I think he’d fare nicely anyway. Round Five: Tedric Thompson, S “But Lost, we’ve invested a lot at the safety position already. Why are we drafting one”. Because screw you, that’s why. That’s why. And this is a total homer pick. But I really like Thompson’s game. With Webb and Weddle as his teachers he could become a very valuable rotational piece going forward, or he could become the guy who succeeds them in a few years. He has good instincts in coverage, and frankly this would be a best player available pick. Round Six: Jahad Thomas, RB/WR “But Lost, We have pressing needs at DT, and ILB.” Screw that. Past 2 seasons we’ve draft Carl Davis, Bronson Kaufausi, Willie Henry, and have picked up Michael Pierce in UDFA. We’re fine there. And we always seem to find a good #2 ILB whether it’d be Jameel McClain, or Darnell Ellerbe, or finding Daryl Smith in FA. And I like Correa at ILB. Meet, Jahad Thomas. The homeless man’s version of Christian McCaffery. He has a rare cutting ability and can make video game moves. He can also fill in kick returns, play slot WR, and be a good third down back for when Danny Woodhead gets injured. He’s a guy I think could have a use on the offense, and frankly we could use that. Oh, and s/o to @-Truth- for pointing me in the direction of Thomas And that my friends(and @rmw10 I did not copy you I swear) is my final mock before the draft. Coming a little ahead of schedule? Oh hell yes. I’m busy. Hope y’all liked it. If not, either way screw you.

Always bad for a safety prospect when you have as many failed drug tests as interceptions imo.
  15. 4 points
As much as I desire a flashy playmaker like Barnett or Mike Williams, I wouldn't be too upset with someone like Lamp in the first. The 2nd round is full of potential difference makers, someone like Juju would make me very happy.
  16. 4 points
Derek Barnett will fall right into our laps

Ozzie's draft bread & butter positions are: LB, D Line, and O Line. If he decides to draft another OT 1st round, he must see something the rest of us don't and I'll be happy with his decision. So much hinges on a strong O Line, especially for the Ravens. A weak O line will mean terrible offense because Flacco falls apart when he's pressured, and our current RBs need some legit, great blocking to gain any significant yardage. God help us if we end up starting the season with the line we currently have. I'm really hoping we upgrade between now and Week 1.
  18. 4 points
I mean, if the picks fall in such a way that OL meets BPA, then I'm all for it. However, every OL in this draft is a reach at #16 overall, at least in my opinion, so we'd have to trade down for OL to be the BPA. Furthermore, it should be recognized that Alex Lewis is best as a RT; he lacks the leverage and push to be anything more than an average LG. Given this, any RT that is drafted essentially addresses the hole at LG by forcing a RT to play out of position at LG. If they reach for someone like Cam Robinson at #16, then I hope it's because they think he can be the next Osemele at LG; otherwise, it's a terrible pick.

Abandon the inside zone, it doesn't work unless your line has a very specific skill set. Use the damn speed we have on offense. Our qb has probably the 2nd strongest cannon in the league, no need to emphasize hitting fast guys in stride on crossing routes when our receivers can get downfield in a hurry and our qb can get it there with a flick of the wrist just take pitta off the field so joe can't default to him all the time use pre snap motions for once

I feel like all of us with our fingers crossed for an exciting pick like Mike Williams or Corey Davis are going to be disappointed. I expect a good, but underwhelming pick like Cam Robinson or Forrest Lamp. I feel like we're looking at the Cowboys offense right now and trying to build a similar unit that can bully opposing defenses in the trenches. Also the Alabama boys Humphrey and Foster would be likely picks if either last that long. Last year we pretty much knew the few players who could possibly be the pick, this year it could be so many different players depending how the board falls, Thursday night is going to be very interesting.

I dont thin Cams issues are nearly as bad as Tunsils. His charges were dropped and he never had any other issues. I really cant compare Cams situation to tunsil. Tunsil is a much better prospect yes. However Cam is a mammoth of an athlete. We said we want to get bigger on the Oline and Cam would do that the minute he walked into the building. I understand the dislike for Cam, not the hate
  26. 3 points
Sorry, but IMHO your dream seems like a nightmare to me.
  27. 3 points
What have you seen that makes you like Willis so much? The combine numbers are awfully impressive, but I'm not seeing anything close to that on the tape.
  28. 2 points
Well, since the boards are closing soon, this may your last opportunity to give some feedback to Marty, our latest in a long line of Harbaugh OC's. Honestly, if we see another steady diet of checkdown offense, he wont make it past the BYE. Some call it the West Coast Offense. The problem here, is Joe is not a west coast Qb, square peg in round hole. Joe has won a ring already, throwing deep passes, we brought in Perriman to get past defenders, only to check down to Juice. We used to see curls, deep crosses, outs, (to Mason, Boldin, Torrey) and now its a checkdown offense. Marty needs to be watching past tape on Joe, sees what he does well, draw up similar plays, and build the offense around that. Play to your players strengths, not make players play to your play calls. I did like the frequent crossing routes Marty used last season, but for whatever reason, we abandoned almost every other possible route options Joe used to have called from previous OC's, and that actually worked. Lets see some creativity this year, not predictabile vanilla offense, lets see Joe change plays at the los, based on what the D is showing him. Lets see some growth from our Franchise QB, and an OC who can call plays based on the personnell he has, not what he wants to do. Thoughts?
  29. 2 points
Well it's being reported that Jabrill Peppers had a diluted sample at the combine. According to Adam Schefter.
  30. 2 points
Don't believe the hype! The Ravens receiving core was trash last season. Dropped passes, inconsistent route running, and they constantly demonstrated their inability to make plays for their QB and then to get...wait for it...."SEPARATION" from their defenders. PLAYMAKERS PLEASE!!!!!
  31. 2 points
I'll make a bet that one of Jordan Willis or Tyus Bowser will be ravens on the 1st or second day.

  33. 2 points
So..... in your rules you stated "no trades" and then proceeded to trade our 1st pick... 🤔
  34. 2 points
I'm actually thinking there may be a sort of hand shake agreement with Mangold. A deal they both like on the table but both sides wanted to wait til after the draft. Mangold so he can enjoy a full offseason and also keep options open in case a vet goes down early in OTA's or something. But I have a feeling he ends up a Raven. Which imo does make the Cam pick more likely as he and Mangold would give us a big, nasty run blocking line. Stanley-Cam/Lewis-Mangold-Yanda-Cam/Lewis..... I like that. Grab Elflein if possible in the 3rd for the future and let one great Ohio State center help develop the next great one.
  35. 2 points
He is going to be a beast in the category of Julio Jones! I badly want this dude to catch Flacco's rockets this year.
  36. 2 points
Ya know, the more I think about how much we can vastly improve our line, the more attractive the idea becomes. while I would be ok with cam at 16, I still think it leaves a major hole and doesn't address the real need, center. And I also believe that with a hefty trade back we could land one of lamp or cam, and if we can nab a late second that lets us essentially guarantee pat elflein. And still get a sexier pick at 47. A draft starting out with cam in the late 20s, a Tim williams/carl Lawson/Derek rivers/Malik McDowell/Quincy Wilson at 47, and pat elflein in the late second would be amazing. That would give us a starting OL of Stanley-cam-elflein-yanda-Lewis or swap Lewis and cam. Our run game would be instantly revitalized with a wrecking ball at center and another beast of a road grader at either RT or LG. Our line would be up there with Oakland and Cleveland with a haul like that and by the time Dixon returns we would be looking at one of the leagues best rushing attacks.
  37. 2 points
And Brantley is off the board...
  38. 2 points
We have 7 pics this draft. There's not that much trading back in the world to turn 7 picks into 13 picks. Nice try tho!
  39. 2 points
The more I think about it unless one of Corey Davis, Lattimore, Allen, Jamal Adams and/or Fournette is available to us at #16, its extremely likely we pick either Cam Robinson, Forrest Lamp or Marlon Humphrey. My money is on Cam Robinson.
  40. 2 points
My heart is set on either Corey Davis or Mike Williams, whichever is available.

Good news maybe this will light a fire under the WR's or put a big chip on their shoulder either way we do need more WR;'s
  43. 2 points
You did a nice job here and I like how you predicted Davis as our pick since I think it's a real possibility. Personally, I think our first pick is between WR Davis, OLB Chris Harris or a higher rated guy who slips, CB Humphrey or a higher rated guy who slips. If Allen or Howard somehow fall, I can guarantee they will be Ravens. Other than that, I think it'll be one of those 3. Williams is a good pass rusher and I've been hard on him for his bad angles to the QB and leaving his lane of responsibility but he's fast and has shown commitment to getting better. I think it could be him, Watt, Rivers or Bowser as our second round pick unless we go OLB in the first. I like Bisnowaty, and the other picks are okay. It's hard to project those late round guys because those are usually small school colleges and obscure players or guys who fall further than they should. I wonder if King will be there but other than that it all makes sense and this is an especially good DB draft so he can fall through the cracks. The real question is whether we go after a top guy in a loaded class at that position, or whether we attack a top guy at a weak position group in hopes of gambling later. I'd prefer to go after the best talent and not try to fill holes with mediocre talent.
  44. 2 points
The proof is ultimately in the play. I can understand not wanting Cam at sixteen but if midway through the season, we are moving and scoring the football, if Joe has ample time to make reads and if it appears we have two stalwart bookends for the next five years, all will be well. Sometimes the context of a full draft, rounds 1-6 can soften a disappointing first round selection. And a little distance can and add perspective.
  45. 2 points
I'm of the mindset that he's very refined and going to be a great pro, but he just lacks the elite athletic traits to make me think he could actually be an elite DE.
  46. 2 points
The NFL was different 25 years ago. But let's use your example - the Cowboys spent high draft picks on Dez Bryant, Felix Jones, DeMarco Murray, Julius Jones & signed high priced FA like Terrell Owens, etc. It wasn't until they drafted 3 x OL with their 1st Round picks did they actually become a play-off team.
  47. 2 points
Just reporting what I'm hearing. I can't decide whether I'd be happy to have Barnett or really pretty meh. Like, I fully expect him to be a really good pro; I just don't see that elite pro
  48. 2 points
And the trolls who think trading Flacco solves literally any problem have no business being fans of this team.
  49. 2 points
Earlier this month, Newsome said the combine incident did not change where Foster ranked on the Ravens' draft board."He went to Alabama, so I think I have the inside [track] on most of that information that comes out of there," Newsome said. This makes me think we are not interested. Why would Ozzie make this statement if he were? Wouldn't it have been better to say that the incident was a disappointment if he were truely interested so other teams would stay away. This comment makes me think Ozzie wants someone to pick him before us so it pushes the players he really wants down the board.
  50. 2 points
Flacco peaked with the super bowl win, but he did have a good 5 yr run.
