"If you are not already engaging us and other members of the Ravens Flock on our Facebook page, Instagram account, through Twitter or Snapchat, we invite you to follow us on those channels and continue to participate in our social communities." Go see the freakout on FB about the Jernigan trade and you'll realize how much more stupid shutting down this message board is. This is about as close as engaging in the ways they want us to as they will get. By closing the boards, your shutting down THE major social community you have. Then the draft will come and it will be worse because instead of engaging in football talk about the draft picks, it will be random comments one after the other without any football talk at all. While having all the social media is great, shutting down one form of a community(message board) and having one less way to communicate with fans is terrible. You should be looking at ADDING more ways to communicate and interact with fans, not removing ways.

I made this thread last year, so I figured I'd update it for this year. It's mostly copy/paste, but I've updated it somewhat. It's no secret that teams interview prospects for many different reasons, ranging from genuine interest to purposely feigning interest to trick other teams. In addition, teams will never meet or speak with certain prospects and then draft them, much to the surprise of the player himself. So this got me wondering: how strong of a connection is there between the Ravens' prospect interviews and actually drafting them? Taking what I could find from various sites, I composed a list, highlighting those we actually brought in either through the draft, UDFA, or waivers. 2011 *Baylor guard Danny Watkins (3/16). *Georgia defensive end Justin Houston (3/21, ). +Illinois linebacker Martez Wilson (3/21, 4/?). *Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams (3/21). *Purdue defensive end Ryan Kerrigan (3/22). +Abilene Christian wide receiver Edmund Gates (3/23, 3/27). *Georgia linebacker Akeem Dent (3/?). *Miami cornerback Demarcus Van Dyke (3/?). *Utah State cornerback Curtis Marsh (3/?). *UT-Chattanooga cornerback Buster Skrine (3/24). *Florida State guard/center Rodney Hudson (3/?). +Temple defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson (3/28). *Arizona defensive end Brooks Reed (3/28). *Arizona defensive end Ricky Elmore (3/28). *Appalachian State safety Mark LeGree (3/29). Well, we met with our eventual first round pick every year in which we had a first round pick in this sample size, so it seems like they don't purposely not interview the players they want in the first. After the first though... it seems like a crap-shoot. We interview around 25 prospects for every 1 we actually draft. Most of the players we draft each year after the first round are never even interviewed, at least according to what we know from these databases. Of our second round picks over this stretch, we only interviewed Torrey Smith. What I wish I had consistent in all of this data is when/where we are meeting these prospects. A meeting in private might be weighted more heavily than a meeting at the EW Shrine Game, for example. Another thing we will never know is just how much the Ravens actually coveted a player they didn't even have a chance to draft. For example, the Ravens never actually interviewed Khalil Mack, but they attempted to trade up from 17 to get him. They interviewed and really coveted Marcus Peters, but they never had the chance to draft him. And they twice met with and then tried to trade up for Jalen Ramsey, but Jerry Jones thought we actually wanted Elliott for some reason, so that never happened. Needless to say, it's hard to know who they really want in a given year. Anyway, this list is nostalgic if nothing else.

This draft is so deep....that it only makes sense to trade back! there are over a dozen DBs that we could land in the late first or 2nd round 1. TreDavious White- CB- LSU 2. Jabrill Peppers-DB- Mich 3. Sid Jones- CB- Wash 4. Fabian Moreau-CB-UCLA 5. Marlon Humphrey- CB-Bamma 6. Cordrea Tankersly- CB- Clem 7. Jalen Myrick-CB-Minn 8. Chidobe Awuzie (sp)- CB- Colo 9. Quincy Wilson-CB- Fla 10. Adoree Jackson-CB-USC 11. Teez Tabor-CB- Fla 12. Desmond King-DB- Iowa 13. Cam Sutton-CB-Tenn 14. Budda Baker-DB-Wash there are at least 8 pass rushers available late round one and into round 2 1 Tim Williams- OLB- Bamma 2. Takkarist McKinley- OLB-UCLA 3. Charles Harris-DE-Mizzou 4. Taco Charlton-DE-Mich 5. Zach Cunningham-OLB-Vandy 6. Tyus Bowser- OLB-Houston 7. Carl Lawson-DE-Auburn 8. TJ Watt-OLB -Wisc There are at least 5 OL available late round 1 and early round 2. 1. Cam Robinson-T-Bamma 2. Roderick Johnson-T- FSU 3. Garrett Boles-T-Utah 4. Taylor Morton-T-W.Mich 5. Forest Lamp-G- W. Kentucky At least 3 RBs 1. Dalvin Cook-RB-FSU 2. Christian McCaffery- RB-Stanf 3. Alvin Kamara- RB- Tenn At least a half a dozen WRs 1. Chris Godwin-WR-PSU 2. Cooper Kupp-WR-EMich 3. Curtis Samuel-WR-Ohio State 4. ArDarius Jones-WR-Bamma 5. JuJu Smith Schuster- WR-USC 6. Zay Jones-WR-ECU and a handful of ILBS 1. RaeKwon McMillian-ILB-Ohio State 2. Reuben Foster-ILB-Bamma 3. Jared Davis- ILB- Fla. SO that is 39 players over the last 10 picks of round 1 and the next 32 picks of round 2. In other words over 42 possible picks there are 39 players that could really be a steal for us. IF we could trade back and end up with an extra pick there (or more) it would only make sense. If we traded back and got somebody else's 2nd and 4th or something like that that would give us two picks in the 2nd (lost of those guys above will be available to us and to land two of them would be great) 2 picks in the 3rd and 2 picks in the 4th. This draft is so deep that while I am not typically a fan of trading back... I feel like it does not make sense to not trade back this year!

Anyone O-linemen just think we can get better value later in the draft. Really the only prospects that I would really like at 16 are M. Willams, Davis and Barnett. Which means none will be there. 😩

Welcome to this year's modified version of Final Free Agency where you have to do all of the work yourself! Here's the list of all of the FAs from the entirety of the game: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tWzhMC1n0kJAJNHdRWdLNx6GS5wvtEuBF4fNUhrlPbw/ You have been given the duty to find guys that either weren't signed or were cut after their position group... and boom, you get them and you don't even have to bid. In other positive news, you can sign 1 player every hour starting at 7pm EST tonight for the low, low price of 0.5 stars. But wait, there's more! ...okay there's not more. If you sign a guy that has already been signed, you will be banned from this site effective May 6th. Go crazy, kids. Go crazy.

Not sure what makes you think that... he has been by no means a bust.

What have you seen that makes you like Willis so much? The combine numbers are awfully impressive, but I'm not seeing anything close to that on the tape.
  18. 3 points
not a great draft IMO. No game changers here.
  19. 3 points
Russell Street just did a 6 round mock draft that I absolutely loved because it seemed too good to be true. We land Davis, Tim Williams, Pal Elflein and JuJu Smith Schuster in the first 4 rounds. That would make me very happy but I don't think it is going to happen.
  20. 3 points
Most people's bold predictions are draft related. I'll go for something different .... Kafusi leads all Ravens D linemen with 7 sacks this season.
  21. 3 points
And then Garrett gets hurt repeatedly and you have nothing to show for 3 high draft picks. What if we have another 5-11 season and pick top 10 or even top 5 next year? Bigger blunder. Never sell the farm to trade up unless you absolutely have a winning roster and you only need one player to get you over the hump.
  22. 3 points
I think we find an elite talent with a 3rd or 4th round pick.
  23. 3 points
All we have to do is draft Witherspoon. He handled Ross nicely.

    Wow. Chickening out already?
  25. 3 points
To be completely honest I know people say Howard is a generational talent at tight end but I have a hard time believing a tight end goes top 10. Maxx Williams was the best tight end in his draft class and everyone talked about him being a 1st round pick. I know looking back Howard is obviously more gifted and athletic, but I still think he will likely be there at #16.

The problem with this team isn't that we don't have good depth and good contributors. We lack elite high end players. Especially at skill positions. I don't think this draft philosophy really fits what we need.
  29. 2 points
You didnt single out anything before the draft. You definitely complained afterward... ill give you that. But actually before that draft the guy you singled out as a "please no" was Landon Collins, and equated him to Elam... and he was in the running for DPOY last year. Part of your reasoning was also how great Will Hill was. Hes da truth.... Lets also not forget how big of a bust you said Brandon Williams was, and how the 2014 draft was a clear indication of the FO admitting the failure of that pick. cmon dude... your memory of how you "nail" things is pretty far off. You do know there is a record, right? You never typed the word Perriman prior to the draft. Probably bc you never heard of him, which is why you didnt like the pick.
  30. 2 points
Some see Elflein projecting better at OG than C... and we could potentially have holes at both if we slide Lewis out to RT. Whats more confusing to me is that we take Pocic in the 2nd with Cam Robinson, Dan Feeney and Garrett Bolles all still on the board. There is just no way we would do that. Never. If we got Tim Williams in the 1st, then grabbed Cam Robinson in the 2nd (as this mock suggests being possible), then theres no reason to take Senior in the 3rd. You grab Elflein, i like Godwin and instead of taking Henderson id take Juju (if we're just doing a like for like replacement with who is still available). Then i prob grab a CB with the Henderson pick... probably Fabian Moreau. Thatd have given us: Tim Williams (1) Cam Robinson (2) Pat Elflein (3) Chris Godwin (3) Fabian Moreau (3) Juju Smith-Schuster (3) I would take that all day. Maybe trade out one of the WR's for Tanoh Kpassagnon to give us some interior pass rush and id be ecstatic. Hit on a stud pass rusher, 2 OL that along with Lewis and Stanley give us 4 potential studs in their 1st and 2nd years, a WR with huge upside, a 1st round talent at CB who only fell bc of injury, and then either another high upside WR or raw but freak athlete at DE. Sign me up.
  31. 2 points
whether you like Joe or not... we had better do something about the OL so he has a chance to succeed... or stay healthy for that matter, because the way his contract is structured he will be our QB for a minimum of three more years.
  32. 2 points
It became obvious to me that we're going wide receiver in the first round again when we chose not to sign any this offseason. Ozzie must love Mike Williams and is probably willing to even trade up for him if he must.
  33. 2 points
Not sure where else to put this: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/04/17/roughly-20-nfl-teams-facing-loss-of-chartered-flights/ American Airlines has ended its charter flight deals with the Cardinals, Ravens, Colts, Jags, Dolphins and Steelers, citing inadequate machinery. Up to 20 teams don't have a charter provider for next season (not sure if said six were included in that count). I'd kinda like to see United try to drag Brandon Williams off a flight though.
  34. 2 points
I am actually surprised he did that. I am not sure why.

With apparently no ILB2 on the roster taking over for Orr who would play some great zone defense on passing downs I fear a TE like Howard and Njoku will give us troubles through the middle. Other than this I would certainly hate my favourite guys going to our rivals.

Joe Mathis is a PERFECT fit for ravens at OLB. He is one of the more evolved pass rushers in this class. Great hand fighter, constantly working hands to gain advantage. Bends edge..wins a multitude of ways. He's too much for tackles he faces and constantly brings pressure. Tons of pop in his hands. Literally puts tackles on their butt with violence.Routinely jolts them backwards. Can't believe no one's talking about this guy. Watch him vs. Stanford. Watch him beat the tackles that handled Takk (who I like). Sets the edge, gets off blocks and makes stops in the run game. Has injury history and very limited time to this point. More complete player than many early round edge rushers right now. Can't believe this guy is getting no mentions. I was high on him a few months ago but just re watched. If convinced about medical he is an absolute and unadulterated bargain where he is projected.

OK, and what if all 7 of those players are on the board, and lets say for sake of example, Detroit (I picked them simply for easy math) wants to give us a 3rd rounder to move back 5 slots, as the draft chart says is approximately even.... you say we don't do it? That doesn't make ANY sense, because you can still get choice of 2 of those 7 AND another player in the top 100.

Man I have this feeling the ravens gonna take Cam Robinson at 16 and have him compete at left guard and right tackle.
  43. 2 points
In all honesty i think taking Cam would be the smartest move you can make. I agree with colin cowherd that recievers are a unnecessary luxury. Kinda like a sports car. Looking at the falcons, julio jones wasnt the driving force for that team. It was their 2 running backs and matt ryan as well as the scheme. The cowboys have a great oline. The steelers became one dimensional in the playoffs and couldnt do anything once the pats locked down Brown. I think it'd be smart for us to solidify our oline so we can protect Joe and have a potent running game

The Falcons proved you always have to worry in the 4th quarter, even if you make a bunch of plays in the first 3. The 9ers almost taught the Ravens a similar lesson a few years back.

"Perhaps he (Harbaugh) should listen more to the fans..." I only hope Harbs reads these comments on this site, or the Ravens will never have another winning season. Such a pity, Harbaugh had these brilliant fans in his locker room and on the sideline when the Ravens were making the playoffs on a regular basis and bringing the Lombardi Trophy to Baltimore, relying on these brilliant fans to make all the right moves for him and motivate his players. Why, Harbs, oh why have you turned away from the fans as your guide?!

With Greg Roman I think you'll get those pulling gaurds. I just didn't like some of Romans passing plays. We have to beef up our o line some how or some way no matter who's at RB. Imagine the possibilities with fournette behind a strong o line. IMO he has big potential of being a home run hitter. To be honest Id hate to face him twice a year too.

Agreed. I see the Bengals going for Barnett instead since they really need someone that can get pressure opposite of Dunlap. I think Foster either goes to the Chargers, Saints, or Cardinals.
