How many would join if I create a message board/forum for us to migrate to?
  2. 17 points
"If you are not already engaging us and other members of the Ravens Flock on our Facebook page, Instagram account, through Twitter or Snapchat, we invite you to follow us on those channels and continue to participate in our social communities." Go see the freakout on FB about the Jernigan trade and you'll realize how much more stupid shutting down this message board is. This is about as close as engaging in the ways they want us to as they will get. By closing the boards, your shutting down THE major social community you have. Then the draft will come and it will be worse because instead of engaging in football talk about the draft picks, it will be random comments one after the other without any football talk at all. While having all the social media is great, shutting down one form of a community(message board) and having one less way to communicate with fans is terrible. You should be looking at ADDING more ways to communicate and interact with fans, not removing ways.

    1. Cleveland Browns - Mitch Trubisky, QB The draft opens with a surprise and the former Mr. Ohio goes back home to jump start the Browns franchise. With 5 teams before they pick at 12 who could potentially select a QB, they decide not to risk losing their man and pick him 1st overall. The fact that they went OL so heavily in FA gives me a sneaky suspicion that they love a QB in this draft. 2. San Fran 49ers - Myles Garret, DE/OLB They don't view any of the QBs as being the franchise guy in Shanahan's offense, so they decide to take the best available and suffer through a building year while waiting for Cousins. 3. Chicago Bears - Jonathan Allen, DT/DE 4. Jacksonville Jaguars - Jamal Adams, S 5. Tennessee Titans (via LA)- Marshon Lattimore, CB 6. New York Jets - Deshaun Watson, QB Hackenberg is not the answer, and with their top rated QB still on the board they pounce. Watson has the star power the move the needle in the NY market, and plays his best under the brightest lights. 7. LA Chargers - Malik Hooker, FS 8. Carolina Panthers - Solomon Thomas, DE 9. Cincinnati Bengals - Reuben Foster, LB 10. Buffalo Bills - OJ Howard, TE They're reportedly in love with this guy. Makes sense. 11. New Orleans Saints - Haason Reddick, LB Needing defensive playmakers everywhere, they take Reddick who can do so much for them. Chase ball carriers, blitz, cover TE's and RB's, and really get after the QB on passing downs. 12. Cleveland Browns (via PHI) - Leonard Fournette, RB And with their top 2 picks, Cleveland lays the foundation for what they think can be a championship caliber offense. Fournette takes pressure of their new QB early on, and behind this OL is the early favorite for ROY. 13. Arizona Cardinals - Deshon Kizer, QB The traditional pocket passer in the mold Arians likes. Big, strong, tough and can sling it. With a championship window still open and the fear of Palmer's retirement/injury history they grab Kizer who can develop for a year or 2 and take over to extend their window some... or step in to steady the ship in the event Palmer goes down. 14. Philadelphia Eagles (via MIN) - John Ross, WR CB is a glaring need, and RB is too - but WR is only patchworked by a couple of 1 year deals. Both Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman grew up in the school of Andy Reid who covets speed on the edge of his offense. Ross provides the playmaking ability and speed they need, and gives Wentz a young weapon to grow with. 15. Indianapolis Colts - Derek Barnett, DE Ugh, hurt me to do this. Almost got my guy to us. 16. Baltimore Ravens - Mike Williams, WR And Joe gets his big weapon. He and Perriman could become a scary WR combo. 17. Washington Redskins - Forrest Lamp, OG 18. Tennessee Titans - Corey Davis, WR 19. Tampa Bay Bucs - Dalvin Cook, RB 20. Denver Broncos - Cam Robinson, OT 21. Detroit Lions - Takkarist McKinley, DE 22. Miami Dolphins - Jabrill Peppers, S/LB Defending the middle of the field is their achilles heel. Peppers gives them someone who can contribute agains the run, but most importantly cover a zone over the middle, or match up man-to-man against athletic TE's and RBs. 23. New York Giants - David Njoku, TE 24. Oakland Raiders - Malik McDowell, DE/DT 25. Houston Texans - Patrick Mahomes, QB 26. Seattle Seahawks - Gareon Conley, CB 27. Kansas City Chiefs - Christian McCaffery, RB Andy Reid sees Brian Westbrook, but with more talent. McCaffery gives Smith a check down, safety blanket and causes nightmares for DC's across the league trying to figure out how to defend Hill, Maclin, Kelce and McCaffery all at once. 28. Dallas Cowboys - Obi Melifonwu, S Well, they once went to a freaky athletic UConn DB to help their secondary before.... with it depleted again they do the same. 29. Green Bay Packers - Zach Cunningham, LB This move allows Matthews to stay on the edge and do what he does best. Improves their run defense dramatically. Could go OL or CB here as well. 30. Pittsburgh Steelers - TJ Watt, OLB 31. Atlanta Falcons - Taco Charlton, DE/OLB 32. New Orleans Saints (via NE) - Marlon Humphrey, CB Round 2 - Tim Williams, OLB Round 3(a) - Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE Round 3(b) - Ahkello Witherspoon, CB Round 4 - Jordan Morgan, OG Round 5 - Harvey Langi, LB Round 6 - Treston Decoud, CB/S (Leaving work, have to grab my fiance' at the train.... will try to add descriptions and info for the later picks)

Why people should never overreact to overall numbers when reported. We got him for a bargain. If we're paying him more, that means he's playing well.

So so sorry to learn of this. It has been a lot of fun for the last many years and I will miss some of the characters I have looked forward to hearing from in the game threads. It is especially appreciated as someone who lived a good number of years in Baltimore and now lives several states away. I may be in New England, but I will never cheer for those Patriots. I will miss a lot of my Ravens friends. Peace and blessings to all!

Per Zrebiec: Webb's new deal is 5.1m over 3 years, 1.2m signing bonus and up to 1.4m each year in incentives. Incentives include playing time with all tied to interceptions, fumble recoveries, punt return yards, etc.

I know many people don't do trades in mocks- but I'm all but convinced we trade back and acquire and extra 2nd or 3rd to give us extra ammunition since I'm thinking Barnett , Williams and Davis will all be gone due to the lack of qbs taken. Ross will not be on our board. I think we will be aggressive to an extent- but we have a lot of holes and roster spots to fill. A lot of people think we need to go all out and get Joe weapons- which we will get him some- but I think this will be a very defense heavy draft despite already making several defensive moves in FA. I think we saw how close we were to having a #1 defense last year- noticed our weaknesses- and will attempt to capitalize and add on to that so we can get back to the Ravens of old. We are going to have a solid defense across the board - with strong depth as well. I will say in this case we tradeback just a couple spots to net an extra third and still land our original target. 1) Tak McKinley- one of the top receivers would've been nice- but so is getting an extra third and still landing one of the top pass rushers to give us a heir for an aging Suggs. 2) Kevin King - many have him as a first round talent- and he's been moving up a lot of peoples boards lately. Great height at 6'3 and reads qbs well. Will be great competition for Carr or as an insurance policy if Jimmy goes down again. I think with all the ammunition we have in the third- we use one of those picks to jump back into the 2nd. 2) JuJu Schuster- as I said Williams obviously would've been nice - but Ju also fits the bill perfectly as to what we need- a tall possession type receiver. Some might not expect him to be around at the end of the 2nd- which is exactly why we aggressively jump up to grab him. 3( From Eagles) Taylor Moton- we need a replacement for Wagner and he actually ends up being an upgrade. This guy is like a freakin grizzly bear. Can also move to Tackle in a pinch. Great value here. 3) Rasul Douglas- we double dip at corner to make sure we get it right. Another guy with good height who goes after the ball and makes things happen. Turnovers win games and this guy will get us some much needed interceptions when he sees the feild. Big fan of this guy. 4) Carroll Phillips- double dipping at pass rusher is also a pretty good idea. We tend to do most of our best work between rounds 3- 5.. So hopefully this is another one of those late round gems Ozzie hits on. 5) Donnell Pumphrey- this is one of those guys I have a hard time figuring out where he will end up going. Could go anywhere from the 3rd to 6th...however I know he is definitely in our crosshairs as we have spoken and met with him more than any other back. He's a smaller structured guy but don't let that fool you- he can get it done. Broke Marshall Faulks yardage record and pretty much can do it all. I watched him on an ESPN draft special last night featuring running backs where he was on with Dalvin Cook and a couple of the other top backs in the draft- and he just puts off that future star vibe. He did very well in all the drills and my only worry is he's now on a lot of other teams radars and may get scooped up sooner. I believe I've included him in every mock I've done so far and I'm including him in this one. 6) this pick couldve went a lot of different ways -so I used the process of elimination. With the CB additions along with the signing of Jefferson you can pretty much say our secondary is set. I would say we could draft a safety here but with the recent resigning of Webb I think were very content here with Weddle, Jefferson, Webb , and Levine. LB was another option- however I get the feeling we have a lot of confidence in either Patrick Onwasaur or KC stepping up beside CJ Mosley. I've addressed the pass rushers already as I have us double dipping to go along with Suggs, Judon , ZDS, and Kafusi. The only thing really left is possibly taking a DT -double dipping at WR ( which we do currently have a lot of openings) or further bolstering the Oline. Any of those 3 would make perfect sense- the FO has addressed that the OL will be a priority- but I think we will eventually sign Nick Mangold and we also have high hopes for a few of our other guys such as Wesley and Nembot. I also think we will sign 2 vet receivers to go along with Juju - Wallace- Perriman - and Campanaro. One of which will be Boldin. So I have us leaning towards taking a DT. With Peirce and Bwill- we have a lot of size to stuff the run- but we don't have much interior pass rush. I think we attempt to take the highest rated DT on their board who knows how to get after the quarterback. I'm not very savvy when it comes to scouting players - so I'll admit I kind of just guessed here...Ryan Glasgow seems like he'd be a good fit. Being a guy from Michigan- Jim will give us the scoop on whether he's worth it or not- but he had a pretty impressive season as a senior with 4 sacks, 9.5 tackles for a loss, and a FF. However he's best suited for a 4-3 defense. That being said- there's always a few guys that fall- and Im gonna say we get lucky and Vincent Taylor falls in our lap. He's a sleeper but he's had 12 sacks in the last 2 years. In 2017 he had 13 tackles for a loss- 7 sacks and 2 FF.. He's got good size and is a good athlete who would give us some much needed interior pass rush. Guys like Brady and Big Ben; who are 2 of the main guys we will have to get through to take it all the way; easily avoid outside rushers by stepping up in the pocket. But time and time again teams have shown that pressure up the middle drive him and Brady crazy. Peirce and Bwill will stuff the run- but after the Jernigan trade we need a guy who is a threat up the middle. Slim chance he will fall to the 6th but certainly possible and IMO we will turn the card in quickly. In review: TAK MCKINLEY - DE KEVIN KING - CB JU-JU SMITH-SCHUSTER - WR TAYLOR MOTON - G RASUL DOUGLAS - CB CARROLL PHILLIPS - OLB DONNELL PUMPHREY - RB VINCENT TAYLOR - DT

@-Truth- put me onto this guy, Keion Adams, who's apparently been doing a lot of visits around the league which means he must be being considered draftable for many teams given that he'll be 1 of their allotted 30 allowed visits - given that this guy is projected to go undrafted in the media i have to think that maybe the fact that he went to western michigan has kept him entirely under the radar of the media for this long i watched the two games that i could find of him and it was a lot of fun to watch - obviously you have to take into account the level of competition but he showed decent bend and burst, relentless pursuit and a nose for the football which are all useful traits - he's a bit undersized and according to nfl.com has some character concerns although i've seen nothing on any other site that suggests what they might be or whether they exist at all - in fact a lot of the other material ive read about him seems to suggest he's a high character team player which is odd given the nfl.com scouting report - because of his size he may never have the chance to be an every down player but as a guy who likely goes in the 6th/7th round at the earliest, he could develop into a handy situational speed rusher - definitely a player who will have to stand up in the nfl which suggests he'd certainly be a potential scheme fit --> as @-Truth- pointed out to me, Adams apparently has visited the entire afc north, the cardinals, falcons, lions, colts, chargers, jets and 49ers - that's a significant investment for those teams to all spend a visit on this guy for him to be a non-factor in the draft

I would be really shocked if Colts ignored OL with all of them on the board, but seems like a Colts thing to do. If they went with a OL would you give us Barnett? Those two are my two favorite options.

fournette was a workhorse at LSU , those tires don't have many miles left on them. Picking Fournette is round one is a huge mistake for any team. That's not true on any level. Fournette had 616 carries in college. Kenneth Dixon had 802 carries. Ezekiel Elliot had 592 carries. David Johnson had 850 carries Le'Veon Bell had 671 carries Jay Ajayi had 678 carries DeMarco Murray had 759 carries

This is why we close Ravens Talk during the game, the year this was from was 2008 and the team made it to the AFCCG, these are from an away game in Indy. Thread title: I told you so(2008) This is what you guys supported: 2 TDs 6 INT 30493824 fumbles The Wheels have fallen off. Well - we have finally hit that point 5 games in. The wheels have fallen off this bus. We have NO offense. - Too many rookie mistakes by Flaco. - Willis is running bad this year - period. 14 rushing yards! -Our O-line no longer looks dominating - they are getting punched in the mouth & don;t seem to care. - Too many fumbles, picks, etc on offense. - Receivers can't get open to save there lives - why (the receivers themselves, receiving coaches, game plan - what is it?) -Only 3 1st downs in the half! Defense: -Only Ray Lewis is playing today! -C-mac looks sooooo bad! -They don't know how to tackle! (stop going for the BIG hit & try wrapping guys up) Special Teams: -The only positive is Sam Koch! -No Blocking -Figures sucks right now - he runs into guys & makes horrible decisions. We started the 1st half at the 14 yard line - terrible!!! Coaches: -What type of offense has Cameron put in here? This sucks! -Ryan obviously did not plan well for the Payton & the colt offense. -Rosburg - well I don;t have any idea if he even has special teams practicing. He has even messed Stover up by changing the way he wants him to kick. Harbs - needs to kick some people in the a$$ to make them actually play like they are pros. Right now this teams looks ridiculously sloppy. I have seen the o lone run into each other. DB's seem confused. Special team not even showing up. Time for Harb's to take a hold of players & coaches & get them to actually play! I guess we are what all the experts said we are - we just got 2 wins from bad teams. Probably time to not care about wins & loses - just enjoy football & any positives we might be able to get out of it. Is This Real Game Or Am I In A Nightmare ( same game 2008) the topic says it all how can you win anything win have no offense at all every elit team has offense and deffense from the looks of this game we have niether

What on earth does flacco have to do with the way teams have changed the way they draft?

peppers is godawful. Most overrated player in the draft. gets blocked easily, poor play recognition and low production. He's just another matt elam but just a bit more hyped.
  40. 1 point
I think teams will go for Elflien first. Pocic has the problem of being tall for an interior lineman, and thus has leverage issues. He also has subpar strength for an interior lineman. I think he might have to move to guard at the NFL level because he won't be able to matchup with nose tackles, and he's only really a fit for zone blocking schemes.
  41. 1 point
doesnt make sense that if we are building for the future that we would mortgage part of that for a running back - we are more than 1 piece away so why make that move
  42. 1 point
I agree, the play calling and coaching is what held us back last year. Flacco wasn't great either to say the least. And Shareece Wright was on our team. But one thing I don't think you're accounting for- Tony Jefferson is going to have a HUGE impact. Carr essentially replacing Wright is HUGE as well
  43. 1 point
They're that way bc well.... some of them just make too much sense. But i tried to change the 1 that sets the rest of them in motion to see how much it would effect the rest of the round. Youre right though, between the outside opinions being way off... and the likelihood of at least one team trading into/out of that top 5-10 the order of players and matching up with fits is bound to look completely different on draft night.

With regard to Joe's "greedy contracts", remember that his Super Bowl-winning contract was back-loaded, and as such Flacco had the following "cap hits" during these seasons: 2013 -- $6.8M (5.32% of team cap, lower than Suggs $13M, Ngata $11.5M, and Yanda $7.45M); 2014 -- $14.8 mil (11.85% of cap; also on team - Ngata $14M, Yanda $8.45M, Suggs $7.8M, Webb $7.5M); 2015 -- $14,55M (10.30% of cap; also on team - Webb $9.25M, Monroe $7.7M, Dumervil $7.375M, Yanda $6.98M, Pitta $6.2M). Flacco's cap hit was supposed to be $28.55M in 2016, $31.15M in 2017, and $24.75M in 2018; with his restructured deal, the new cap hits are $22,55M in 2016 (also on team - Webb $9.5M, Suggs $7.45M, Dumervil $7.375M), $24.55M in 2017 (also on team - J. Smith $12.6M, Yanda 9.125M, Wallace $8M, and Suggs $6.95M), and $24.75M in 2018 (also $26.5M in 2019, $28.25M in 2020, and $24.25M in 2021). Compare Flacco's cap hits to Matt Ryan, drafted #3 in the same 2008 draft: 2011 -- Ryan $13.25M cap hit (10.45% of team cap), Flacco $5.725M (4.81%); 2012 -- Ryan $13.5M hit (10.63%), Flacco $8M (6.03%); 2013 -- Ryan $9.6M hit (7.86%), Flacco $6.8M (5.32%); 2014 -- $17.5M hit (13.16%), Flacco $14.8M (11.85%); 2015 -- Ryan $19.5M hit (14.31%); 2016 -- Ryan $23.75M hit (15.3%), Flacco $22.55M (14.94%); 2017 -- Ryan $23.75M (13.96%), Flacco $24.55M (14.48%). [numbers courtesy of sportrac.com] Flacco definitely needs to step up his game, but who has had more postseason success, he or Ryan? Before this year's trip to the Super Bowl (a legendary loss with a big 2nd half lead helped by someone taking a big sack...), the Falcons had missed the playoffs the previous three seasons and had gone 1-4 in the playoffs since 2008, this despite the presence of receivers Julio Jones, Tony Gonzalez, and Roddy White... Problem is with fans is that they live in the past. What Flacco did 2 or 3 years ago means nothing to me and means nothing to people who analyze players in the NFL. It TRULY is a what have you done for me lately league. Rarely do players skill sets drop off in any given year and then they come back the next 3 or 4 years and are pro bowlers. Recent history with a player is a GREAT indication of how they will play in the future. The only slack I give Flacco is that he was coming off an ACL tear which you could clearly see caused him mobility issues and even when he was better, by lugging around that knee brace, he was quite inhibited. However, Flacco has never been an accurate passer, thus his ratings are always in the bottom half of the league. Add to it his injuries and we had a QB that wouldn't start on most teams in the league. My opinion on Flaccos Cap hit is that he sees what it is doing to the team, he knows he isn't producing at that level but Joe is a Joe guy and thats his money and he has every right to it. However, a team player like Brady, Manning, Brees etc... were in that position and they volunteered to take pay cuts to bring in the talent they needed to win. I don't think Joe even cares enough about winning to care about the talent around him. If I had just raked in 100 million and 50 mil after taxes, and I had invested the money properly, I wouldn't need to keep soaking my team and putting them at a competitive disadvantage. Granted, he signed a contract that was given to him but thats on the front office. What Dak Prescott has taught me, the same thing that Flacco taught me in his first three years, your QB if given time can be a stud. Dallas put Prescott and Elliott behind the best line in the league and it showed. The Ravens put Flacco behind one of the worst lines in the league and IT showed. An average QB with a great O-line will get you to the playoffs every time. So Ozzie should have invested in KO, kept Tyrod Taylor, Let Joe walk, and our team would have been considerably better. Not because of Tyrod, but because we would have had the money to get a good O-Line like when Joe first started and didn't eat up the salary cap allowing the team to put studs around Taylor. Love that...what have you done for me lately...what someone did, even as long back as 2 or 3 years ago (wow, an eternity), means nothing. Let's put everyone on one-year contracts; that way we can truly see who is performing year in and year out... And you say we should have kept Tyrod Taylor after the 2014 season, this after he had shown nothing to date for the Ravens after four seasons. Flaccos' 2014 was the best in his career, with Gary Kubiak as offensive coordinator (344-554, 62.1%, 3,986 yards, 27 TD, 12 INT, 91 QB rating, 72 QBR); the Ravens won a game in the playoffs AT Pittsburgh (Flacco had 2 TD, no picks, 114.0 rating) and then lost AT New England (Flacco threw 4 TD, 2 INT, 92.1 rating; as I recall the defense couldn't stop Brady in the 4th and gave up a 14 point lead). Yes, you are right, we should have dumped the bum when we had the chance for the proven skills of Taylor. And yes, let's compare Flacco's contract to those of Brady and Manning; it's too bad both of those poor fellows can't get a whiff of an endorsement or two to supplement their meager salaries or can't manage to be married to the world's highest paid supermodel...How easily we spend other people's money and tell them what they should do with it. "If that were me I'd..." is one of the most laughable comments made by today's sports fan.
