    1. Cleveland Browns - Mitch Trubisky, QB The draft opens with a surprise and the former Mr. Ohio goes back home to jump start the Browns franchise. With 5 teams before they pick at 12 who could potentially select a QB, they decide not to risk losing their man and pick him 1st overall. The fact that they went OL so heavily in FA gives me a sneaky suspicion that they love a QB in this draft. 2. San Fran 49ers - Myles Garret, DE/OLB They don't view any of the QBs as being the franchise guy in Shanahan's offense, so they decide to take the best available and suffer through a building year while waiting for Cousins. 3. Chicago Bears - Jonathan Allen, DT/DE 4. Jacksonville Jaguars - Jamal Adams, S 5. Tennessee Titans (via LA)- Marshon Lattimore, CB 6. New York Jets - Deshaun Watson, QB Hackenberg is not the answer, and with their top rated QB still on the board they pounce. Watson has the star power the move the needle in the NY market, and plays his best under the brightest lights. 7. LA Chargers - Malik Hooker, FS 8. Carolina Panthers - Solomon Thomas, DE 9. Cincinnati Bengals - Reuben Foster, LB 10. Buffalo Bills - OJ Howard, TE They're reportedly in love with this guy. Makes sense. 11. New Orleans Saints - Haason Reddick, LB Needing defensive playmakers everywhere, they take Reddick who can do so much for them. Chase ball carriers, blitz, cover TE's and RB's, and really get after the QB on passing downs. 12. Cleveland Browns (via PHI) - Leonard Fournette, RB And with their top 2 picks, Cleveland lays the foundation for what they think can be a championship caliber offense. Fournette takes pressure of their new QB early on, and behind this OL is the early favorite for ROY. 13. Arizona Cardinals - Deshon Kizer, QB The traditional pocket passer in the mold Arians likes. Big, strong, tough and can sling it. With a championship window still open and the fear of Palmer's retirement/injury history they grab Kizer who can develop for a year or 2 and take over to extend their window some... or step in to steady the ship in the event Palmer goes down. 14. Philadelphia Eagles (via MIN) - John Ross, WR CB is a glaring need, and RB is too - but WR is only patchworked by a couple of 1 year deals. Both Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman grew up in the school of Andy Reid who covets speed on the edge of his offense. Ross provides the playmaking ability and speed they need, and gives Wentz a young weapon to grow with. 15. Indianapolis Colts - Derek Barnett, DE Ugh, hurt me to do this. Almost got my guy to us. 16. Baltimore Ravens - Mike Williams, WR And Joe gets his big weapon. He and Perriman could become a scary WR combo. 17. Washington Redskins - Forrest Lamp, OG 18. Tennessee Titans - Corey Davis, WR 19. Tampa Bay Bucs - Dalvin Cook, RB 20. Denver Broncos - Cam Robinson, OT 21. Detroit Lions - Takkarist McKinley, DE 22. Miami Dolphins - Jabrill Peppers, S/LB Defending the middle of the field is their achilles heel. Peppers gives them someone who can contribute agains the run, but most importantly cover a zone over the middle, or match up man-to-man against athletic TE's and RBs. 23. New York Giants - David Njoku, TE 24. Oakland Raiders - Malik McDowell, DE/DT 25. Houston Texans - Patrick Mahomes, QB 26. Seattle Seahawks - Gareon Conley, CB 27. Kansas City Chiefs - Christian McCaffery, RB Andy Reid sees Brian Westbrook, but with more talent. McCaffery gives Smith a check down, safety blanket and causes nightmares for DC's across the league trying to figure out how to defend Hill, Maclin, Kelce and McCaffery all at once. 28. Dallas Cowboys - Obi Melifonwu, S Well, they once went to a freaky athletic UConn DB to help their secondary before.... with it depleted again they do the same. 29. Green Bay Packers - Zach Cunningham, LB This move allows Matthews to stay on the edge and do what he does best. Improves their run defense dramatically. Could go OL or CB here as well. 30. Pittsburgh Steelers - TJ Watt, OLB 31. Atlanta Falcons - Taco Charlton, DE/OLB 32. New Orleans Saints (via NE) - Marlon Humphrey, CB Round 2 - Tim Williams, OLB Round 3(a) - Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE Round 3(b) - Ahkello Witherspoon, CB Round 4 - Jordan Morgan, OG Round 5 - Harvey Langi, LB Round 6 - Treston Decoud, CB/S (Leaving work, have to grab my fiance' at the train.... will try to add descriptions and info for the later picks)

I made this thread last year, so I figured I'd update it for this year. It's mostly copy/paste, but I've updated it somewhat. It's no secret that teams interview prospects for many different reasons, ranging from genuine interest to purposely feigning interest to trick other teams. In addition, teams will never meet or speak with certain prospects and then draft them, much to the surprise of the player himself. So this got me wondering: how strong of a connection is there between the Ravens' prospect interviews and actually drafting them? Taking what I could find from various sites, I composed a list, highlighting those we actually brought in either through the draft, UDFA, or waivers. 2011 *Baylor guard Danny Watkins (3/16). *Georgia defensive end Justin Houston (3/21, ). +Illinois linebacker Martez Wilson (3/21, 4/?). *Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams (3/21). *Purdue defensive end Ryan Kerrigan (3/22). +Abilene Christian wide receiver Edmund Gates (3/23, 3/27). *Georgia linebacker Akeem Dent (3/?). *Miami cornerback Demarcus Van Dyke (3/?). *Utah State cornerback Curtis Marsh (3/?). *UT-Chattanooga cornerback Buster Skrine (3/24). *Florida State guard/center Rodney Hudson (3/?). +Temple defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson (3/28). *Arizona defensive end Brooks Reed (3/28). *Arizona defensive end Ricky Elmore (3/28). *Appalachian State safety Mark LeGree (3/29). Well, we met with our eventual first round pick every year in which we had a first round pick in this sample size, so it seems like they don't purposely not interview the players they want in the first. After the first though... it seems like a crap-shoot. We interview around 25 prospects for every 1 we actually draft. Most of the players we draft each year after the first round are never even interviewed, at least according to what we know from these databases. Of our second round picks over this stretch, we only interviewed Torrey Smith. What I wish I had consistent in all of this data is when/where we are meeting these prospects. A meeting in private might be weighted more heavily than a meeting at the EW Shrine Game, for example. Another thing we will never know is just how much the Ravens actually coveted a player they didn't even have a chance to draft. For example, the Ravens never actually interviewed Khalil Mack, but they attempted to trade up from 17 to get him. They interviewed and really coveted Marcus Peters, but they never had the chance to draft him. And they twice met with and then tried to trade up for Jalen Ramsey, but Jerry Jones thought we actually wanted Elliott for some reason, so that never happened. Needless to say, it's hard to know who they really want in a given year. Anyway, this list is nostalgic if nothing else.

Talking to other buddies who are fans of other teams, they couldn't believe that the Ravens actually had official message boards. I think these boards are one of the few ways to keep fans actively involved in the offseason. I understand the boards are not as active as they are the years the team is more competitive, but it seems like every year someone releases most loyal and knowledgable fans in the NFL. The Ravens always rank in the top 5 and are known to have very smart fans. With less of these conversations I do think that takes a hit.. I wouldn't be surprised if the team notices a slight drop off in loyal fans. But in the end it comes down to money. I hope all of you join us at boardhost.

We once had a seemingly demented woman absolutely stalking a player through the forums. She repeatedly accused him of fathering an illegitimate child (like that ever happens in the NFL) and made progressively more nasty threats. That one finally had to get bumped up to team security. Don't know what happened from there, but she never posted again. We had another stalking incident that got so bad that eventually police were involved. There was a player's estranged father trying to open contact through the forums. And then there's he whose name shall never be mentioned. Shudder. These are the kinds of things that have gone on in the background for years. On a happier note, think of all of the births, graduations, engagements, and marriages we've celebrated over the years.

fournette was a workhorse at LSU , those tires don't have many miles left on them. Picking Fournette is round one is a huge mistake for any team. That's not true on any level. Fournette had 616 carries in college. Kenneth Dixon had 802 carries. Ezekiel Elliot had 592 carries. David Johnson had 850 carries Le'Veon Bell had 671 carries Jay Ajayi had 678 carries DeMarco Murray had 759 carries

Stopped reading when I saw that the Bengals were projected to have more wins than the Ravens next year. Steelers I could see even though the team barely fell short last year and has more additions than the Steelers this offseason, but the Bengals only had 6 wins last season and looked horrible all season. They lost 2 of the best o-linemen in the league. I just don't see any way that people view the Bengals as a bigger threat than the Ravens who were a blade of grass away from a playoff berth.

literally every modern "star" college offensive player beats the school records because of the offensive nature of both college football and the nfl - it means nothing - it's like suggesting jonny manziel will become an all pro qb off his nfl production (spoiler alert: it didnt happen)

I just think it all comes down to health and playcalling. We could have easily been 11-5 this past season but Jimmy "Mr. Fragile" Smith got hurt against the giants, we had 5 starters out against the jets (not to mention we ran the ball 11 Freaking times!!!), jimmy didnt play against the cowboys, steelers w16. Pees kept putting wright sorry tale in one on one situations and he consistently got beat. Crabtree single-handedly ate his lunch. Then he has the corners playing 15 yards off the ball, idk if Flacco isnt allowed to audible, but it was multiple times that the called play got blew up and even an untrained eye(me) could see that it wouldn't work so why not let the 22 mil dollar man make audibles. We have the speed on the outside and with camp in the slot we SHOULD be a dangerous offense. We dont use waller like we should...this guy is 6'6 and runs a 4.4-4.5 he is a matchup nightmare but we are still depending on pitta who has roughly 4 YAC...not acceptable when he's suppose to be the chain mover. we dont run screens with our speed, we dont stick with the run enough to be successful at play action. Flacco's mechanics never seem to get better because he always thorws off his back foot. So with all this being said...COACHING COACHING COACHING has to improve. The way Harbs holds other players not named Joe accountable, he needs to hold his coordinators and QB accountable.

take him - i mean i dont know who else is on the board but ahkello is good value there anyway
  42. 1 point
When i was watching him its his lack of agressiveness i think. At 6'6 280 youd expect him to bull rusb someone or have a violent rip move but he never does. He always takes a finess approach and tries to beat you with quickness. His ohio st game though, he did a very good job of mixing it up. I love his potential but im with you. I always expect more out of him on tape

Peppers is about the last thing we need. A 213 lb pound "LB"?? That can cover?? 1 career interception and 1 pass defensed last year. Vs college players. There aren't any 213 pound linebackers in the NFL for a reason. We just signed our own, proven version of Peppers, to a 34 million dollar contract to play SS. There's no room for Peppers on the Ravens

Surprising Guys that I'm picking off the table and leaving are: Jonathan Allen, he could be a beast and I like his talent, but I'm taking a wild guess he isn't strong enough inside and isn't fast enough outside making him a wash. Marshon Lattimore will be a Jimmy Smith like talent. Insanely talented when he plays but will be habitually injured because he didn't drink enough milk and eat his Wheaties as a kid. Taco Charlton, he just isn't that impressive! He isn't a technician nor a physical freak, he will struggle in the NFL, especially in a 3-4.

Players who I'm not necessarily pounding the table for, but think will be a mix of pro bowl surprises and guys we have a feeling will be good... Ironically, Deshaun Watson if he ends up on the right team, obviously not Cleveland or the Jets. John Ross, I think he becomes a pro bowl return specialist and lights it up with splash plays on offense. Forrest Lamp, I think he will be most refined I lineman in the draft, especially in pass pro, but Feeney will be a bull dozer. Gareon Conley is a surprisingly talented second corner on a playoff team like Oakland or Detroit. Desmond King, no need to explain TJ Watt, double digit sack artist by year two Jabrill Peppers, becomes a honey badger like talent
