"If you are not already engaging us and other members of the Ravens Flock on our Facebook page, Instagram account, through Twitter or Snapchat, we invite you to follow us on those channels and continue to participate in our social communities." Go see the freakout on FB about the Jernigan trade and you'll realize how much more stupid shutting down this message board is. This is about as close as engaging in the ways they want us to as they will get. By closing the boards, your shutting down THE major social community you have. Then the draft will come and it will be worse because instead of engaging in football talk about the draft picks, it will be random comments one after the other without any football talk at all. While having all the social media is great, shutting down one form of a community(message board) and having one less way to communicate with fans is terrible. You should be looking at ADDING more ways to communicate and interact with fans, not removing ways.

If Mike Wallace goes down our offense is done for.We have ZERO depth at WR and our run game cant be counted on.Im hopeful that Perriman can become a good player, but expecting him to go from what we saw last year to a guy who can carry the load in the passing game is a bit much.Dont neg me for saying this lol,but a WR corps with just Perriman,Moore,a mid to late round draft pick(I'm assuming we'll draft atleast atleast a mid to late round WR ) and Campanaro could/would easily be the worst WR corps in the league. If its Perriman who has another knee issue and is out then I still wouldnt feel comfortable with just Wallace,Moore and Camp. IMO its a must that we go after one of the big three WRs in the first round.Corey Davis is my fave for who we should pick at 16 or trade up for if he drops out of the top 10.My only worry with him is the no name DBs he faced in college. After watching John Ross games repeatedly since the combine and seeing him work Adoree Jackson I feel like hes more of a sure thing, but I still like Davis' upside more.Another reason I'm thinking we should go after one of these WRs is because its not every year that we're in position to draft WRs this dynamic and with this much upside. What are you guys/girls thoughts on our WR depth?Do you agree that its a must that we take a WR in the first round and if so who?

I think his contract is telling of his role on this team or what kind of formations we will be implementing this year, as others have suggested.
  10. 3 points
Much prefer C Davis to Mike Williams , Davis will be a game changer, I don't think he will be there at 16, but I'm beginning to believe the Ravens wont be picking at 16 either (Trading back looks like its gaining momentum)

Taco seems like that kinda pick that we take that everyone hates. Could be a great pick if he isn't a one year wonder ND could adapt to the 3-4 OLB. I think there are three players I am praying for, which are Tim Williams, Kevin King or Feeney, but I have Feeney topping that list.

With the 14th pick in the 7th round of the 2017 Forum Mock, the Oakland Raiders select... Keion Adams | OLB/DE | Western Michigan

Completely dependent on another team paying that price. If I were another team, I'd just wait a year, give you nothing, and sign him myself. He's getting a big contract regardless, and so that's factored in to the price tag. If this deal were a year or two ago, we probably could have gotten a 2nd rounder for him. But factored into the cost of the trade is the cost the other team has to pay for the new contract... OR... the risk of not being able to sign him to an extension. Maybe Jernigan's agent told teams that his client wouldn't sign an extension regardless. If so, that certainly drops his trade value a ton, because he's a one year rental to most teams at that point. Exactly what I said. No one is going to give you two high draft picks for a guy everyone knows is leaving the following year. The eagle trade makes sense because they still have a third pick but get timmy. Ravens just jump 25 spots which is golden because they can get a starter caliber player. yes but understand that we lost a starter and a future 3rd or 4th round draft pick (which would probably also be a starter) to move up 25 spots and get a starter? and you can say yes but we will have a better starter and there is no guarantee there and that is in essence assuming that we will can do more for this franchise by moving up in the third round then we can with a later 3rd round pick and another 3rd or 4th rounder in the future. No way Jernigan gets a 3rd round comp pick. Even if he has a Pro Bowl year and signs a BWill contract. The comp picks are handed out based on ALL of the Free Agents that signed in the off-season - biggest contracts/best players first. Guys like Cousins, Stafford, Alshon, Freeman, Pryor, Kam, Edelman, Trumaine Johnson, etc, etc will all sign bigger contracts and thus get the 3rd & 4th Round comp picks. IF and a giant IF, Jernigan were to sign a BWill deal, it would probably only net the Eagles a lower 4th to 5th Round pick. Alex Mack signed a $9 million per year deal, went to the Super Bowl and only netted the Browns a 4th Round Comp pick. Also, the DL Free agent class next year is huge - Poe, Logan, Ansah, Kyle Williams, Ngata, Jaye, Hicks, Kawaan, Sheldon Richardson, Star, Sharrif, Crick, Tuitt, etc, etc. Jernigan might not even be in the Top 10 for DL. Basically any deal less than $10 million per is a 4th Rounder. Anything less than 8 million per is a 5th Rounder. And all this is moot because even if he has success with the Eagles (better fit in their system) it wouldn't matter because he would NOT put up those kind of numbers in Baltimore this year - which would determine what comp pick we would have gotten had we kept him.

What the hell are you even saying. Your inability to comprehend his post is the real issue here. He is not saying to use his 1st round pick on a depth player. Just because we have two guys who are considered starters right now means we can't upgrade that position and make a would be starter a depth player? That's the best way to improve your depth in a position. The WR core is neither that great nor does it have great depth. The best way to improve that is to add a guy like MWill or Corey Davis and maybe add a vet after the draft.

No, you don't get it. You don't draft an undersized RB at 16 overall to play WR just because you think it's cool. Mcaffrey is not a 16 overall talent, I, along with basically everyone else, just don't agree with you on this. there are a lot of factors as to why mcaffrey would be a really dumb pick we have 2 young backs who played really well last year despite a horrible line, and we haven't addressed that line yet, which is more important. RB is still devalued despite the recent uptrend, you have to be a truly special talent and an absolute beast to be taken that high, zeke and gurley blow mcaffrey out the water, along with fournette and cook. hes an undersized rb that needs to be schemed, he's a piece, not a centerpiece we will be looking at the likes of Robinson, lamp, McDowell, reddick, Davis, t. Williams, possibly mike Williams, possibly foster, and in no way could we justify taking him over any of them you don't draft a rb midway through the first and put him at wr, you just don't.

Training camp and post draft cuts yet to come. I suspect we'll pick up a vet.

I am with you.... I do not think that Dalton is elite.... without AJ Green he looked avg at best.... Carr and Luck do seem to be a step above and they can win games Ben has elite ability but also has and elite ego and his ego has lost Pittsburgh more big games then he has won them over the past 5 years. Ryan is not Joe... Julio makes any QB look elite... and MattyIce has always had great WRs (and TE) Joe has proven that if you give him time and half way decent weapons... that he can win the whole thing for us. We need to re-build that OL and add in a play making WR and Joe will have weapons. (Perriman and Wallace can take the top off of any defense. WE have great TEs and a lot of them. We have woodhead who will chew up yardage and if we can add a JuJu or a DeDe Westbrook, Corey Davis, Mike Williams type of WR in the draft.... Joe will have weapons) the addition of some sure handed WR like Boldin who can roam behind the LBs could be a very large asset... but Joe will have some weapons by the time season starts. (look at the super bowl year- Boldin, Torrey, Pitta, Rice... those were the weapons... we can put that and more on the field this year). the key is keeping him protected- Joe has to have time and have a clean pocket. Stanley, Alex Lewis and Yanda are a good chunk of that starting 5 but we really do probably need 2 more OLmen.

It would take along time to mention all the Pro Bowl and Hall of Fame Receivers those Quarterbacks had to throw to in their "Prime". Its very easy for Joe None. Steve Smith should be in the Hall of Fame in 5 years but he was 35 when he got Here. Also, Anquan Bolden 30 and Derrick Mason 31 when they got here.

i think there's a chance either of them or both of them could make it - im personally not sure id value zay jones enough that he'd be BPA for me at that spot but juju certainly would be under strong consideration for me at 47 - as a reference frame for what i mean, i have juju 36th on my board and zay jones 46th

I would like to see Q come back but if it will actually happen only time will tell. Q was a fan favorite as were most veteran WR's Oz has brought in such as Mason,Q and SSS. I would like to see Q retire a Raven. I would not mind seeing Mangold come to the Raven family if the $price$ is right and his health is good. Would not mind having Peppers either but there are a lot of guys I would not mind us drafting we need LB both outside and inside DL, OL and WR for this up coming season and if we can get good guys in the draft they are still young so they have a lot of growth ahead of them.
  27. 1 point
I highly doubt Q has any animosity built up over that. It's the NFL and we all know what that means when it comes to players and contracts. It's a business. He still got his money even if it wasn't from the Ravens. Now as far as Torrey, if we didn't have Mike Wallace than yes I say we should bring him in but we do. Why would we have two of the exact same type of player? He was brought in to replace what Torrey did for us. He's also not a red zone threat. Q yes. It's not smart to waste money on past players just to have to have them. Q would be a good pickup because his leadership and production that he can bring that we lost when SSS retired. Torrey isn't needed so it's no point of entertaining that. If anything, we need to see what we get in the draft (hopefully one of the top 3 receivers) and pick up players that's still out their or have been cut. Like Ozzie said, the team will not be finished until the second game of the regular season. Trust the process. It's what gotten us 2 SB's and solid players in all areas of the draft in FA.

Per Z47 Seahawks...Sherman not going anywhere. Good news because the last thing the Ravens need is to give up a future #1 pick for a 30 yrs. old CB.

I'm not responsible for you using bad examples that don't relate in any way to the Ravens or Joe's situation. In my world (and frankly the real world), Joe needs to be 35-36, on the back end of a large contract, and showing obvious signs of decline (reduced arm strength, weaker decision making, less mobility than he already has). That's when you start looking at QBs, and you probably go ahead and do it in the 1st round. But stop with all this BS. No reasonable person thinks that drafting a 3rd or 4th round QB this year gives us any sort of leverage. If you actually do think that, you need to get acclimated with what the word "leverage" actually means, and do so quickly, because you don't get it right now. And even worse... stop beating around the bush. Just come out and say it. Just say that you don't think Joe should be our QB much longer, and you want us to draft somebody to take his place now. None of this "well lets just draft somebody in the middle rounds and MAYBE he will pan out and MAYBE he will give us leverage and MAYBE he will be as good as Brady". Just own it. Its been a long, long time since a team used a very high draft pick on a player they had no intention of playing for several years, regardless of position. That includes QB. Rodgers is the last successful case of that. When teams start thinking of life after their current franchise QB, they target somebody early, and they move on within a year or two. Or they wait until they retire and use a first rounder then. That's what teams do. Its not rocket science. You'll see the Giants do it soon. You'll see the Steelers do it soon. You'll see the Chargers do it soon.

I do not want a narcissistic racist on our team. Let some other team over pay for Sherman's drama
  33. 1 point
Exactly. What I really like about him is that he's a pretty complete player and is a good fit in either zone or press man duties. He's not the amazing athlet that Lattimore is but is more physical and is less subject to quick routes separation and doesn't have an injury history (bot that I know at least). He'd be a great value at 16 imo.
  34. 1 point
Since you mentioned him, I'm surprised Conley hasn't gotten more love around here. Very good prospect who should have a long career based on what I've seen. Can play any type of coverage and actually turn and look for the ball. Only big downfall is that he's not aggressive in the run game or as a tackler.

Ya i wouldnt be happy with taco. I like ross so i cant go there lol. I def wouldnt be happy with cook. Either way i dont think we make that pick anyways Edit: i hate to say this but taco might end up being our pick. When a lot of people dont like the prospect he ends up being the pick lol

Core is the main part of something, corps is the entire group. (slightly simplistic, but that's a working definition)

For me the only one I'd throw a fit about would be taco charlton - I'd be pretty unhappy about John Ross too but would begrudgingly drink the kool-aid

I can almost guarantee that we will trade back and add at least another 3rd round pick. We still have something like 20 roster spots left on the team and with only 7 draft picks so far it looks like a lot of undrafted players will get the chance to prove themselves.
  39. 1 point
This is the best WR in the draft. Future Pro Bowler.
  40. 1 point
If the intention is to compete for a job then no. No rookie is gonna come in to push Flacco for his job. If the intention is having a solid backup on a cheap rookie deal then yes. It's not that out of the ordinary to see teams invest high draft picks on QBs when you have a franchise QB. Saints drafted a QB in the third two years ago and the Chargers took took Eli/Rivers when they had Breese. A.Rodgers was drafted in the first when Favre was the starter. Brady has a second round QB sitting on the bench. P.Manning had a third rounder in Brock oswiler backing him up for 3 years. Dak Prescott was drafted in the fourth with Romo the starter ad Cousins was drafted in the third when the franchise QB was RG3 I think that's a good enough list for you to recognize that it's not as simple as taking a day 3 guy and hoping he becomes a good backup.

I just scrolled back - you have posted zero footage or analysis

If your WR corps isnt very good then that also means it has no depth lol.I would like for us to draft a first round WR and let him battle Perriman for a starting job.Since we don't use many 3 WR sets, the guy who isnt starting and not getting much playing time can become the depth.

McDowell needs to improve his ability to find the ball when engaged. That doesn't seem to be part of his game yet. He will beat his man and lose sight of ball carrier. Sort of puts his head down and tends to ignore everything but the guy in front of him. Haven't watched him in a while but I remember at least two games where he didn't play well and really was pushed around, mostly at 5T. Generally, you had better double team this guy on third down and this is no small thing to me. Pretty sure he can develop more in the run game. Defense has severely missed getting pressure up the middle. This guy can win and win quickly and I'm very intrigued by the thought of him at sixteen.

The "B" and flag shield are both cool and look great as uni patches, but I don't think either fit for a helmet. The present bird head is the right shape, a classic and remember that logo is on two SB rings. I don't see it changing, but matte black could happen.

Flacco restructured his contract last March to reduce the cap hits of '16 & '17. Just how do you propose the Ravens "make" him take a pay cut? Threaten to release him? That would be a smart salary cap decision...

Maybe he does get it and just highly disagrees with the idea.

I'm not a fan of Ross, especially not at 16. When I look at his film, I see glimpses of Taylor, Clayton or Johnson. 3 highly ranked WR;s in the same mold that we wasted picks on. At some point, the team needs to make better WR selections in the higher rounds imo.
