All posts on my last day might just be pictures of Lindsey Duke. You're welcome.

ProFootballTalk is reporting that he and the team have agreed to a reunion for the season.

Webb deserves a lot of credit for his time here. It's unfortunate that injuries pretty much sapped his career, since he was really playing at an elite level when he signed the extension. Unfortunately, he could never fully recover as the knee injuries became too much to overcome to get back to his previous play. Even during those trying teams, Webb remained a consummate professional and team player. He was willing to do whatever the team asked - take a pay cut, switch positions, mentor the young guns, etc. He is the epitome of a team player, and I'll always have a ton of respect for Webb for that reason. Furthermore, as alluded to above, Webb was tremendous off the field as well. He was consistently active in the community and really embraced Baltimore as his home. Although this day had to come eventually, Webb will surely be missed.

Literally only one person on this entire forum wants him

Fournette to Jags, Cook to Eagles. I could see the Saints taking him, but they really need defense. Also, the Colts really need offensive line help, So i can see them taking McCaffery
  9. 6 points
Rarely find corners that can tackle like he can, its innate, you cant teach it to a 180 pound kid. He has "it", shame his knees didn't keep up with him, he was a damn good player. Id love for the Ravens to bring him back at a lesser cap hit.
  10. 5 points
I don't see how its not a win if he's a backup, you're not going to find another guy who knows the system that well from multiple positions, is as good a tackler and as good of a blitzer at this point in FA. Webb as a potential 3rd safety and 5th corner? Can do a lot worse.

I like Perriman as #1 on my list here. It seems he has the heart, desire and football smarts to be a good one. Just needs to stay healthy long enough to get acclimated to the NFL. And lose the board hands of course. Correa has to be the guy on D. He's just turning 23 and had to learn a bunch last year. I look for the Tasmanian devil type performances from KC. lol
  14. 4 points
lol hes a project, a lot of players take time to develop, a lot of players have to find a comfort zone and settle in, correa didnt even know what position he would be playing until zach orr retired, and still isnt certain because if we draft/sign another ILB he could be moving again. i dont know what you consider NFL skills but he has a lot of raw talent and Boise State is notorious for leaving players uncoached. do you need a list of players who didnt break out as rookies and developed later on? because it appears you just began watching the NFL in 2016 and truly dont know how often players dont break out as rookies.

I'd never accept that trade. Collins is an inconsistent, raw blocker that is injury prone. Sure he throws out some highlight reel blocks every now and then, but I'd much rather have a guy that shows up every play rather than only once in a while. Also I disagree about the oline class, the OT class is weak, the interior class is pretty damn strong. Lamp, Feeny, and Robinson are all, in my opinion, great guards from day one. And after them there are a lot of guys with lots of potential, i.e. Dion Dawkins and Taylor Moton can play OG or OT and we have always valued versatile linemen, Dorian Johnson is another potentially good OG from the start. Interior line class is fine, gets a bad wrap because of the weak tackles. We can sit back and take a lineman that is just as good as Collins right now considering we could very well have our pick of the entire class. Not to mention the Cowboys will not trade their starting LG, they shopped Collins last year while they still had Leary, not the case anymore, they value their line obviously and won't let it take another step back. The rest of the draft is fine, just that trade is ridiculous. And I'll be your daily reminder that we aren't taking Chad Kelly and he's not a HOF talent.

Jason Verrett, Brandon Flowers, Antoine Winfield, Chris Harris Jr are all very close to Young in height.
  17. 4 points
Collins is coming off an injury and technically in a contract year (RFA next season). Plus the Cowboys need him since Leary and Free are gone. So that won't happen. Lawson is a decent value pick in Round 2, but I expect he'll be gone by then. Same with JJSS, but if he's there in the third I think he's a good pick up. Would love Sutton or Elder in the 3rd think both are gonna be pretty good. I'd take Elder over Sutton at this point because I think Elder would be a good returner. Haven't watched much of Morgan or Jones, but wouldn't complain about either depending on the board. Chad Kelly is going undrafted.

I mean unless I'm misreading your board I sprint up there to grab Barnett at 16 and am happier for it.

Yea... I think it is true to say that you don't NEED a great WR to win a super bowl, but not to the extreme of saying that great WRs don't win Super Bowls. Brady's always had a number of weapons - Gronk as you pointed out but also Edelman and last year Hogan played a big role, Bennett and they just got Cooks. Denver had Demaryius and Sanders. Even Seattle - Baldwin really started breaking out. You think about our SB and the plays that got us there... the Pitta/Boldin vertical seam TD catches in the red zone, Jacoby in Denver, Joe's ballsy audible to throw to Boldin hot for that 1st down conversion with the game on the line, Pitta's multiple huge 1st down catches while getting drilled... Torrey stretching the field. Our loss to NE the year before came down to a WR not making a play. Otherwise we're in back to back SB's. We always cite Joe's crazy run... but it also coincided with his weapons playing the best they have since he's been here. And Williams, imo, fits exactly what Joe's missing. That Boldin/Pitta 2012 presence of being open when covered, making the crucial tough catches in crunch time. Theres players id take over Williams, but certainly not passing him up just bc you can get away with not having great WRs.

weird... i agree with all of these points as well. i hated beckhams obvious self centered style, it never became a problem at LSU but you could tell he thought he was the center of the universe, i still prayed to baby jesus he would fall to 16 and that we wouldnt take mosley or HHCD over him if he was there... which im sold that we wouldve taken at least mosley over him. and i always thought joe did better spreading the ball around when no one receiver is a true standout, everybody being equally solid prevents him from defaulting to the same guy everytime the first option is covered. flacco has the stafford-megatron problem, the problem is we have pitta instead of megatron and it becomes an absolute disaster when flacco just flicks it to him the second he senses trouble.

Well there's definitely no way we would give up a 1st round pick for a udfa lineman with 1 year NFL starting experience for a 1 year rental - and he wasn't even a top 3-4 lineman in his own draft before his dramatic fall anyway i know you love kelly but why would we draft him and when would he play or how would he even make the roster because there is no way we'd carry more than 2 qbs and we already have both our starter and our backup at this point - any other qbs we bring in are purely camp arms
  24. 3 points
It is interesting--I will just say I think the Panthers used a 2nd round tender on Andrew Norwell, I think I would rather that if we did something like what you are suggesting..but I still would rather we keep the pick. The difficulty for me is that La'el Collins is close to getting his second contract and if he plays up to his potential (which he has not yet) than we likely would just let him walk. I would much rather we just draft an OL at some point keep our first, have several good years and plan for a contract extension if/when it all works out

I'm guessing Collins has a lot of quick twitch muscle.

That is all I would pay for him if that, now if Zach Martin or Travis Frederick were on the trading block I'd be for giving up a decent amount although giving up 16 for almost anyone is still a really stupid move. The fact you think giving up that much draft capital is worth it tells me just how inexperienced at this you are. Ah there it is, he is big and was one of your favorite players. Well shoot, I remember Ramon Harewood was even bigger, so maybe we should bring him back too, really help our line out. Also Collins being 6'5" is really important, really helps him get leverage over shorter defenders because we all know the high man wins right? We all have draft crushes but just because they are your favorite player doesn't really mean much and is a great way to get burned when evaluating draft prospects. Happens to everyone here and you can't let stuff like that cloud your judgement when evaluating these guys. Heck it happens all the time here even with current players. There was a time where people thought guys like Marlon Brown and Asa Jackson would be good for us. Players get hyped in camp every year and a lot of people get hit with a reality check come the regular season and those guys disappoint. Sometimes it works out like with Rick Wagner or Zach Orr but often we get Elams, Tommy Streeters, Aaron Mellettes, or Gino Gradkowskis. Collins while a solid Guard is not worth giving up our 16th pick. In the current state of the NFL, draft picks are crazy valuable not just because guys are young but also because in the CBA they are dirt cheap. If you get a good player at a pick, you can get great value out of them in comparison to their actual worth. Once they are done their rookie contract however they get paid market value and FA prices are rarely a bargain for a team. We would only have Collins a year before having to pay him market value while with the 16th pick we get a potential stud for 4 or 5 years at a good price(see CJ Mosley or Ronnie Stanley, our latest top 20 picks).

Our secondary just got deep, with actual talent we can rely on. I am excited for this unit barring Jimmy Smith and his health.... Lord... Smith and Carr on the corners, Young and Webb in the inside??????????? Jefferson, Weddle, and Webb in the back field? Yesssssss

We will take a player from Michigan based on Harbaugh connection. Wormley?
  36. 2 points
Why the hype? Assuming health, he can get separation like no one else in this class, he is a guy defenses will have to account for every snap, we can actually have a good returner again. Tons of room for improvement as well as while he is decent at routes, he can certainly get better there. Also Perriman made plenty of spectacular catches but had quite a few drops in college. Think his drop rate was around 15%. And while Ross doesn't win jump balls a lot(wow, go figure with his size), the guy has had his share of really nice catches and his drop rate for last year was less than 5%. Reasons why I would be concerned, health, not winning jump balls if your quarterback can't throw a deep ball where Ross doesn't have to wait everytime for the ball. Second one doesn't really apply to us although you could argue fit as we already have a ton of speed on the field. I'd just say Ross can win underneath with that quickness as CBs will be too scared of his speed. And if you give him extra attention, that opens things up for Wallace and Perriman. Not my favorite pick at 16 but if healthy I would be fine with it and comparing him to Perriman based on 40 times is a disservice to both players.

IDK.......Dez has rolled over guys much bigger than Tavon, he's a pretty powerful runner. I think more often than not Young showed he's a sure tackler and can hold his own even when up against much larger players. I'd actually say that he has already proven to be better than our #1 in that regard. Agree though that his small stature will be a disadvantage at times, but could also be an advantage as he is much quicker and nimble than the prototypical tall guy corner.

Young honestly flashed CB #1 ability last year. There's a very real chance he becomes a top 15 guy. And don't give me the size crap. Brandon Flowers was a top OUTSIDE CB for years at 5'9 and did well vs. guys who are 6'3+. Same goes for Jason Verertt who was great last season. Even made a pro bowl.. Young plays bigger than his size, and did very well after mostly playing the outside last season. I know fans want a bigger corner, but Young is the real deal on the outside. I do think Ramsey has top 5-10 potential at the position, but if the team views Young as a potential #1 CB, then he will be given the same responsibilities as Ramsey. Which btw, they might. Young is that good

Then what else does?? And either post clips of him displaying these traits, or point me to the games/plays where he's showing them. Because i havent seen instances of great hands when he's actually in tight coverage or going over the middle in traffic. I havent seen him using better than just, good, route running. I havent seen anyone that tried to really jam him at the line where's he had to work through it. I havent seen him create instant separate -- it always takes 10 yds or more when he finally gets up to his speed. His separation comes from the speed. Either just getting out in front of guys, or causing guys to bail early and he just stomps on the brakes. I mean its obvious theres a line in the sand that neither side is going to cross. But, i see a guy that if he doesnt have elite speed his quality route running becomes maybe serviceable. Def not good enough that its something he can rely on to get open all day. And if he doesnt have the elite speed to get either the big cushions he so often does or the separation he does from flat out accelerating past DBs, he doesnt have the hands to consistently make contested or difficult catches. If he doesnt have the speed, you just put a physical corner on him and you dont even let him get into his routes. No way he's Edelman if hes a 4.5 guy.... bc Edelman is a technician, and is extremely physical. Whether fighting off the line, taking the hit while making a catch, or breaking tackles to get the tough YAC.... Ross does absolutely none of that. Edelman is thick. Ross is a twig.

Seriously? Why 3rd round? The Cowboys will give up their 1st round pick in a heartbeat for a deal such as this. After witnessing what we got in trade value for Jernigan you still pose this possibility? Even trading down for the Cowboys first would be absurd in my view. The differential is 340 points between the Cowboys first and ours. That equates to pick #56 in the second round! So you believe that somebody would give up #56 to trade for Collins?? Come on man!

I will not miss the trolls and the Flacco haters. What I will miss is the intellectual discourse among some very knowledgeable football fans. I would like to believe the Ravens FO and players read some of these posts and learn something but maybe that's wishful thinking on my part. When you're a billionaire owner or a multi-millionaire player, perhaps this blog isn't that important. I was surprised and disappointed to learn the blog will be closing but that's life in Charm City, I guess. As I have said before, there's no such thing as the status quo. An organization is either getting better or its getting worse. I have a distinct feeling the reason this blog is closing has less to do with the tenor of some of the posted comments and more to do with the criticism of the FO, players and coaching staff. Steve gets a pass here. If you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen. When a team stops listening to its loyal fanbase, its not getting better IMHO. I also appreciate the work of the Mods who have had a thankless job trying to ride herd on this many cats. Kudos to each of you, ladies and gents, for your guidance, genius and constructive comments (for the most part)!

I still think bringing Webb back is the best plan. I'm still worried about throwing Correa/Onwuasor out there to fill Orr's role because neither of them really (at this point) has the instincts and coverage range that Orr had. Jefferson did a lot of the same things in Arizona that Orr did last year and sticking him in the safety role that Webb played last year (imo) would be a waste of his true talent. Someone on the team needs to be the guy that will do things like neutralize TEs and deal with guys like LeVeon Bell catching passes out of the backfield- bringing back Webb would allow Jefferson to become that guy first, and a true safety second.

With this mock I want to do something a little different while remaining realistic to player's value. Hence, I will include one realistic draft day trade. **With a few teams in a pinch to acquire an elite RB, the Ravens receive multiple calls to move back to enable Dalvin Cook to go off the board at 16. The Giants and Bucs both make offers and we slide back three spots and acquire an additional fourth rounder. With the 19th pick in the Draft the Ravens select, G/T Forrest Lamp I know that many people want us to take a top receiver or pass rusher, but I think M.Williams, Davis and Barnett are all taken. I see more value in holding out and taking this stud. Small school guy, yet his tape is nothing but impressive, especially against Alabama. He anchored well against Jonathan Allen and shut Tim Williams and Ryan Anderson out. They literally started targeting the opposite side of the line to get pressure because Lamp was giving them the business. Lamp is position versatile and can play at all 5 slots in a pinch, which will make our line borderline elite if we sign Mangold. With the 47th pick, the Ravens select, OLB Carl Lawson, I wanted to go Tim Williams here but I think that he will come off the board before Lawson for a variety of reasons. Some think that this would be a stretch, but in a deep edge rusher class, I think Carl's injury concerns and semi-raw and stiff technique will have him in the middle of the second. Guys like Thomas, Barnett, Reddick, Watt, McKinley, Charlton and Williams will go first enabling us to get a seriously talented edge rusher who will add a smash mouth dynamic back to our pass rush. With the 74th pick the Ravens select, CB Sidney Jones, In perhaps the deepest CB class in a decade, a once top 15 pick will slide right back into purple and black in the third. I personally believe Ozzie was motivated to make the trade up to target a specific player and no one quite makes sense like Sid Jones does. In any other year I think despite the injury he would go top 50 easily, but with so much talent that will still likely be there in the second round at CB such as Lewis, White, King, Awuzie, Jackson, Witherspoon, Tankersley, Sutton, etc., Jones arrives here and rehabs for 10 weeks on the PUP list and emerges as a critical piece in our defense for the post-season. With the 78th pick, the Ravens select, S/CB Desmond King Talent wise, he is deserving of going in the first round. The downfall is he doesn't project too well at CB and doesn't have experience at safety. That's alright though, King is a physical play maker and he knows how to get the job done. He will be a versatile piece early on until Weddle slows down and we eventually move him out to safety. He adds few depth early on. Speed this up a little here, 4th round: RB Samaje Perine, Smash mouth runner that allows us to go back to a power running scheme and gives us a great goaline back that can be deployed on those short yardage downs. WR Isaiah Ford, The combine might have dropped his stock, yet he is a shifty receiver that could play well in the slot for us. 5th round: Ejuan Price- a Dumervil/Harrison clone who projects to a be a straight-line rusher that wins in the leverage game. 6th round: CB Channing Stribling, Another CB to go into camp with. He has the ideal size needed and gets a recommendation from Jim at Michigan. He would be a potential project CB that could develop.
