See my avatar? I am a Webb fan. All three members of my family have two RAVENS jerseys. Lewis and Webb. Most of you know why we all are such RAVENS fans. Click here to see why. Having met him a few times after that initial meeting, he was always super cool and classy. Good to my kid. Good to my wife. Good to his fans. He fought hard he played hard. He is what it means to be a RAVEN. He will always be one of my favorite RAVENS.

"If you are not already engaging us and other members of the Ravens Flock on our Facebook page, Instagram account, through Twitter or Snapchat, we invite you to follow us on those channels and continue to participate in our social communities." Go see the freakout on FB about the Jernigan trade and you'll realize how much more stupid shutting down this message board is. This is about as close as engaging in the ways they want us to as they will get. By closing the boards, your shutting down THE major social community you have. Then the draft will come and it will be worse because instead of engaging in football talk about the draft picks, it will be random comments one after the other without any football talk at all. While having all the social media is great, shutting down one form of a community(message board) and having one less way to communicate with fans is terrible. You should be looking at ADDING more ways to communicate and interact with fans, not removing ways.

I hope this is true. I don't want to change my avatar...... for a message board that is closing....

ProFootballTalk is reporting that he and the team have agreed to a reunion for the season.

So so sorry to learn of this. It has been a lot of fun for the last many years and I will miss some of the characters I have looked forward to hearing from in the game threads. It is especially appreciated as someone who lived a good number of years in Baltimore and now lives several states away. I may be in New England, but I will never cheer for those Patriots. I will miss a lot of my Ravens friends. Peace and blessings to all!

My favorite comment on the trade so far, and it's from a Steelers' fan: My only reaction to this is, "dear god what new defensive lineman do they have hiding on their bench now". I don't believe its Carl Davis, but i dont believe they will ever run out.

Perriman! He's in a starting roll and should get between 7 and 10 targets a game. I would say Waller if he was a starter. Flacco is a better passer between the numbers and with he's size and speed would be a mismatch for any Linebacker or Safety.

Is Canady not a corner? Webb will provide safety depth.

This isn't wrong in theory, I guess, but in pass rushing situations, you only "eat blocks" if you actually pose a threat as a pass rusher. Jernigan, contrary to popular belief, was doubled a lot in passing scenarios. Pierce, however, was not. Eating blocks does not happen in passing situations unless you require a double team. As far as the pass rush goes, gap shooters are far more impactful than "block eaters." The "block eater" types are just fat guys that rarely sniff the QB. You can usually find them stood up by the center at the LOS as the QB is entering his fifth second without pressure. See: Cody, Terrence; Ngata, Haloti; Williams, Brandon.. TL;DR? Gap shooters get pressure. Block eaters don't. Pressure requires athleticism. If you don't get pressure, you won't get doubled, and if you aren't eating blocks, are you even actually a block eater? The whole concept of sending fat guys out there for the sole purpose of clogging space is so damn outdated and obsolete.

Considering your not allowed to post full articles.... @Filmstudy has been a long contributor here long before the board shutting down. But why would that even be a bad thing when all he does his educate us fans with great break-downs and research. Talk about over-reacting

No one had mentioned Young yet, so that's why I said different. I agree on Correa and I'm rooting for him to take the next step.
  13. 4 points
    You have done that yourself.
  14. 4 points
Yep. Lack of athleticism didn't play anymore at CB, but you can get away with it at S. He's always been a smart and disciplined player, and that's why he was able to rebound.

Would be difficult to sign Swearinger, given that he's under contract with the Redskins... And depth players are mostly average players by definition. If they were significantly better than average, then they probably wouldn't be depth... they'd be starters. Feel free to point me in the direction of a team that has a really good third safety. There's more teams that don't even have one good safety than there are teams with 3 good one's.

Talking to other buddies who are fans of other teams, they couldn't believe that the Ravens actually had official message boards. I think these boards are one of the few ways to keep fans actively involved in the offseason. I understand the boards are not as active as they are the years the team is more competitive, but it seems like every year someone releases most loyal and knowledgable fans in the NFL. The Ravens always rank in the top 5 and are known to have very smart fans. With less of these conversations I do think that takes a hit.. I wouldn't be surprised if the team notices a slight drop off in loyal fans. But in the end it comes down to money. I hope all of you join us at boardhost.

If he goes top 10, I'll be stunned. Honestly, if he does and at least 2 QBs are also taken ahead of us, I'll be pleased. That just pushes some of the tier 1 defensive talent down to us.

Ravens secondary was a huge offseason focus - add Jefferson and Carr. Now about to retain Webb at lower $. And could draft CB high as well Jason La Canfora‏ @JasonLaCanfora Ravens are nearing a deal to bring safety Lardarius Webb back into the fold. Versatile vet with deep ties in Baltimore

So when FilmStudy would routinely direct his thoughts to RSR LONG BEFORE it was announced that this forum was shutting down, where was the profit? I tell ya, some folks are just miserable.

I posted my thoughts on the trade here: http://russellstreetreport.com/2017/04/05/filmstudy/ravens-trade-timmy-jernigan-value/ A few points: There is no guarantee on the comp pick round The comp pick would have been lost if the Ravens sign more FAs or potentially hamstrung the FA process The possible comp pick would have come in 2019, the trade draft capital in 2017, so there should be significant discounting applied to comp Jernigan played much higher leverage downs than Williams (80% of 3rd downs as opposed to 21% for Williams) The Ravens increase the chance to retain CJ Mosley, so it's a choice of cornerstone players

This fan only vaguely remembers him.

Maybe this quick analysis will make you see why this is much more probably gonna end up being a good move than a bad one And if you're familiar with RSR, you know that Tony Lombardy isn't the guy who will defend everything about the Ravens organization's actions. Sorry bio, I will take a motivated Timmy and his production and a possible 3rd round comp pick next draft over moving up 25 spots in the third round this draft any day. IMHO Lombardi is the one who is wrong. He did not convince me one bit with his argument.

I agree you could tell Perriman was catching on near the end of the season. He was 4 of the top 10 plays for the Ravens based off of NFL Network with his limitd role and he slowly started catching on, and had a couple good catches that were barely out of bounds. I would love Waller to get more play time his size and speed I think benefits the offense more than Pitta to be honest. I wonder if the Ravens use Pitta more in the slot like they used to when the Ravens won the Super Bowl back in 2012/2013. He cannot block at all. The one player I hope really breaks out though is Maxx Williams. He showed flashes as a rookie, but was injured and looked lost last year early in the process.
  27. 4 points
And for that to happen we need consistent blocking, better YPA on runs, better WR separation and less drops overall , and not constant turnover with OC and philosophy.
  28. 3 points
It's clear you have 0 concept of depth.

I have a hard time believing Harris is a guy we'll take at 16.. im starting to think that the wr visits with williams and Ross are smokescreens, i think there's a chance that we fully expect williams, Barnett, the 2 safeties, and foster to be gone, and that our top target at that point is Corey Davis, and that we've seen enough from non-private visits to be comfortable, and we are throwing smoke screens that we are interested in Ross hoping that we can get trade back offers for a team who wants him. Ross to ravens hype train has picked up a ton of steam, a LOT of people think we are bound to take him at 16, but I just don't see us taking perriman at 26 and then seeing an injury risk(with less spectacular catch ability) like Ross at a value of ten spots higher, Corey Davis on the other hand, I think the ravens could fully justify that, and maybe could be confident that a tradeback of a few spots can still allow us to secure him. Seems they are adding fuel to the john Ross fire, but I would be truly surprised if we took him at 16

Yeah, last year was his best, most consistent contribution since 2011. Would great to have him back.

It's incentive based that doesn't hurt our cap situation at all. As a matter of fact, the deal created $1M in cap space for this year.

I say that Perriman eclipses 1000 yards and scores 8 TDs. Judon will develop and add 8 sacks. Correa will win out the ILB role. Boyle fills the juice role, but gets used even more. Biggest break out comes from Young who notches 5 interceptions from the slot.

Thanks guys and gals for the 2nd 3rd and 4th chances...

I think he's a lot better than he's given credit for and I believe the absurd 40 time skewed a lot of people against him. If he can move around around and stay healthy I think he'll have a pretty good career. He clearly has the playmaking ability to score and anyone who scores TD's is welcome to be on the Ravens as far as I'm concerned. Concerned more with his health than his play.

Wow thought your supposed to buy low and sell high??? Traded a 3rd plus TJ to move up in the same round...smh...we invested a 2nd on timmy just 3 years ago, he's a proven starter and in a contract year at age 24....that 3rd would've been a comp pick anyways if we didn't sign him next year. If that draft pick makes no impact this year then it's a loss, I'd much rather have a hungry starter hunting for that first big pay day then another pick
  41. 3 points
I don't get why everyone thinks he would've balled out in a contract year. He has been incredibly inconsistent and there's no reason to believe some financial motivation would have changed things. Not everyone can jus change because the circumstances call for it. You would think if he really wanted a fat contract he would've balled out for the first 3 years as well, and tbh if a player slacks for 3 years because they know they don't need to work hard and produce until the contract year so they can get paid... well I'm not sure I want that guy on the team. I'll take 25 spots in the third in THIS draft over a late 4th(what I think he would've netted us) all day. I don't think we'll miss Jernigan. Also, willie Henry, were looking at you, time to go.

I would like it more if it was Timmy traded for the 74th pick straight up.
  43. 3 points
im with you - i think awuzie will go in the 2nd round but i think witherspoon can be had in the 3rd/late 3rd which could be an unbelievable value pick - the further along the process we get the more i think we might be able to grab some phenomenal corner prospects in the 3rd (and maybe double-dip in that round) i know we are short on the offensive side of the ball but if our first 4 picks were 2 pass rushers and 2 corners id be so fine with that - especially if one of them was witherspoon
  44. 3 points
I'm getting really high on Akhello Witherspoon. Both he and Awuzie could be darn good in the NFL... but Witherspoon's length, mirror/match ability.... man he just sticks on the hip and then swats at the last second. I wont be surprised if he winds up being one of the best CB's in this draft.

I'm not sure what tape people are watching with Barnett being slow. He has amazing get off. Even when he's not anticipating the snap dude still get off the ball very quick. Maybe he didn't run an amazing 40 but his 10 yard split was good and he had one of the best 3 cone drills of anyone. I believe he was 5th with being .04 second behind 2nd. If Barnett is there at 16 it's a no brainer. He'll only get bigger stronger and faster. I wouldn't doubt he'll be the most productive pass rusher from this class. Dude has proved himself every year vs quality tackles. Broke Reggie Whites record. Watch the tape dude is constantly putting pressure on the qb. And he plays smart. Stays home in the run game and doesn't over pursue and squeezes the edge. (I'm a huge fan)

I'm no cap expert, but spotrac says that Joe's cap hit in 2017 is $24 million. Right next to that is the dead cap, which says $47 million. That is nowhere near the 18.5 million that you are saying. 47 million in dead money is not manageable at all. And again, if you think that you could run this team, go play Madden and see how well you could do. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/joe-flacco-4000/

Desmond King will be the steal of the draft. If he really falls to the 3rd like a lot of people say he will, which I don't buy, that team will be very happy.

Tali is basically not on the team with all his injury problems.

It's cute that you think that it would have played out any different. Moving up that far for a player whose role was being reduced and who will be gone next year is a huge bonus to the Ravens. we would have gotten at least a 4th round comp pick plus his production for next year or could have traded him after the draft but we gave him away and when is the last 3rd pick we drafted that became a play maker thats right we have had lots of problems drafting in the 1st round let alone the 3rd i think your knowledge of football is lacking and its not cute

All the splashes were defense... OK so we are set at O line with the loss of Wagner? Our O line was weak as heck last season already.
