Wow. Not happy. Will not be engaging on FB or any other platforms because it doesnt allow for actual discussion. Just one or two lines of unsubstantiated, emotional garbage or "hot takes." Plus, i dont want to be bombarded with advertising while discussing the Ravens... But, i guess you cant really advertise on here and capitalize on the "engagement" so why bother. Im being unreasonable, but i dont care.

Wow. As a fan who left Baltimore in 2003 and found this community I can't say enough about how upsetting this is. Facebook has some of the worst 'Raven' fans.

I'm not the biggest Ross fan, but I think some people are overthinking it a bit. Ross is a playmaker, and this team is really short on playmakers. Most people look at the 4.22 speed and think he's only a downfield guy but he can function in a lot of different roles as a WR. He's not the prototypical chains mover type but that doesn't mean he wouldn't fit here. Furthermore, Wallace is going to be here for 1 more year, Moore might have actually dropped more than he caught last year, and Perriman is still a work in progress that remains a giant question mark. There's certainly room for Ross even with all of the other "speed" guys we have. I'd prefer not to take Ross at 16 but I can't dismiss the possibility.

Considering we've only gone 8-8 twice in the last 9 years I'm not worried about an 8-8 "collar"

I truly enjoyed talking Orioles baseball with everyone that ventured down to the Off-Topic Forum. From the bottom of my heart I want to say, I am really going to miss everyone's company when these boards close. For a few more weeks at least, I hope to see some familiar posts when Crush Davis hits them out of the park God bless everyone! Go O's!!!!!!!!!

I think a huge root of the problem is a lot of us, especially myself, put too much stock into how well this team would play with Flacco coming off an acl/mcl tear, your best target coming off an achilles tear, your other wide receiver coming off two acl tears, and no proven guy at running back (after cutting an injured and old Forsett). Also two rookies on the line didn't help, the injuries didn't help but the team should have had better depth. Hindsight we should've known that with the offensive coordinator changes and everything else changing in the offense, that it would take time for the offense to click. Unfortunately by the time the offense started clicking was when the defense lost Jimmy Smith and started to slip. The Ravens need consistency on offense. There is too many moving pieces each year that it is no wonder that the team struggles. That includes the coaching staff. Looking at the top offenses over the years, the best ones are the ones that have the same core group of people year in and out.

This is terrible. I'm not going to go on Facebook for "discussion" with fans who don't understand basic football fundamentals like the salary cap and still think Terrell Owens "need sign now." Awful. I browsed RSR last season and it was a raging dumpster fire. This sucks.

ROUND ONE - LINEBACKER, HAASON REDDICK, TEMPLE Much has already been said about this guy, by myself and by others so I won't gush on too much. Pair him with CJ, send him on interior blitzes or off the edge on passing downs. The thing is, it will be difficult to know whether he is coming or dropping as he does both well. ROUND TWO, OLB, RYAN ANDERSON, ALABAMA Rounds one and two reset the course of this defense . Versatile, physical, passionate players who harass opposing quarterbacks and punish ball carriers. ROUND THREE, CB, AKHELLO WITHERSPOON, COLORADO My second favorite corner.....actually if we get him in the third he is definitely my favorite. Uncanny knack for recognizing routes. see him as a guy who won't get burned the same way twice. Always in position, great make up speed.......and...a lousy tackler. Absolutely first round cover talent. ROUND THREE, ( COMPENSATORY) , WR, RYAN SWITZER, NORTH CAROLINA A quarterbacks best friend on third down. Great hands, very good after catch....silly quickness to get open. Very productive... ROUND FOUR, RB, KAREEM HUNT, TOLEDO Similar to Dixon...but he's a better player on tape to me right now than Dixon ( who I like). ROUND FIVE, C, JON TOTH A guy I like quite a bit ..tough, experienced SEC player. Our starter at the center. ROUND SIX, CB, CHANNING STRIBLING, MICHIGAN I'm not hearing one word one about this guy and puzzling . To me, in most drafts he's a third rounder. Long press corner who use length effectively to make up for average speed. The thingy I love about him is that he turns, finds, and makes plays on the ball. A peeve of mine is a corner that can't do this....and there are a lot of them. Pretty slight build but physical and willing in the run game.

You lost me at "stacked talent." Joe has never had a true #1 receiver who could just take a game over. SSS, Q, etc, etc were all serviceable, but their best years were behind them regardless of the stats they put up at Baltimore. It's time for the FO to get Joe an OBJ, Jones, Brown, AJG, Megatron type receiver. Joe isn't elite, but he is definitely not a bad QB. The FO needs to get Joe a real #1 target to go with the pieces already in place and they need to make sure the have a line that can protect him. Joe isn't overly mobile so he doesn't do well when he is pressured. If he has a line that can give him time, a true #1 receiver, a guy who can stretch the field(Perriman) and a solid RB, Joe can carve defenses up. The defense is almost set. We just need a pass rusher, another corner and another LB. If Ozzie nails this draft, then we can make a post-season run. Ozzie has to hit this draft out of the park.

I think it's more likely that that just suggests he's seen as an early second type player, we don't only meet with players we want in the first

I'm not sure what tape people are watching with Barnett being slow. He has amazing get off. Even when he's not anticipating the snap dude still get off the ball very quick. Maybe he didn't run an amazing 40 but his 10 yard split was good and he had one of the best 3 cone drills of anyone. I believe he was 5th with being .04 second behind 2nd. If Barnett is there at 16 it's a no brainer. He'll only get bigger stronger and faster. I wouldn't doubt he'll be the most productive pass rusher from this class. Dude has proved himself every year vs quality tackles. Broke Reggie Whites record. Watch the tape dude is constantly putting pressure on the qb. And he plays smart. Stays home in the run game and doesn't over pursue and squeezes the edge. (I'm a huge fan)

Well... sorry to have to break it to you, but... 1.) we already have a good QB - one that played rather poorly at stretches of last season - but not a bad QB by any measure; 2.) I'm afraid you've been fooled. That ship-thing was an April's fool prank. Sorry to break it to YOU! No, the Ravens do NOT have a good QB. PJ's living quite famously off a wing and a prayer heave, botched by the safety. A lifetime QB rating of 84% for a ten year starter is AWFUL! You can see how bad Pathetic Joe and Self Righteous John have been since Lewis retired. You can make every excuse in the book you want for these two, but it doesn't change the facts. "A lifetime rating of 84 is AWFUL." Sorry to break it to you but numbers aren't everything. Jim Kelly's career rating was 84. Dan Marino's career rating was just 2 points higher at 86. Both of them are in the Hall of Fame.

I do hope you know that you are the only one who knows what the nickname that you have given Joe stands for. PJ? I would also like to inform you that QBR is NOT a percentage. Matt Stafford Steve Mcnair, Matt Hasselbeck, Troy Aikman, Eli Manning, Alex Smith, Dan Fouts, John Elway, Bernie Kosar, Fran Tarkington, Otto Grahm, Drew Bledsoe Terry Bradshaw, Joe Namath, Johnny Unitas, and Phil Simms all have QBRs lower than Joes. Directly above him is Jim Kelly 84.39, Brett Favre 86, and Dan Marino 86.38. It is quite clear that you have very little idea of what QBR is and have absolutely no idea how it is calculated. I am not saying that Joe is better or worse than any of the guys I have mentioned. I am saying that you have no idea what you are talking about.

Thje Giants game - plus the Raiders game, the Eagles game and the Pittsburgh game. All three games the O put the D into the position where all they had to do was stopping the opponent's O "one more time" to march down the field and score. And all three times they failed. (The Eagles game is somewhat different of course, where it was Flacco's flagrant mistake that put the Eagles in a position to start that march down the field the first place - but then the D was unable to stop it... And, if they don't elect to go for 2 instead of a simple PAT, a well-won game would have, in all probability, gone to overtime...)

i think Ramczyk would be a better improvement of the offense than making a flashy WR selection, which still leaves Flacco with happy feet dumping off to West every other play. If the line is solid to above average with: Stanley, Lewis, Urschel, Yanda, Ramczyk ... the run and pass game could both improve. I would much rather them go CB. They need to prepare to beat Pittsburgh, New England, and maybe Oakland as the other contenders. Unless either the pass rush or corner play is drastically improved, they will continue to get eaten alive when it counts.

Marshawn Lattimore dropping to us? That isn't happening. I think most of the guys mentioned here are doubtful with the exception of one of the top 3 receivers. I don't believe Barnett falls to us either. Ryan Ramczyk I don't really think we'll draft.

I agree 100 percent with your second paragraph. But your first paragraph breaks my heart.... KO was a great raven! He hurt his back once and missed 9 games. He's never missed more than 2 games every other season that he didn't get a disc in his back. He's no more or less injury prone than Jensen or urschel. As far as his play, he was light years better than those two. It's not even fair to put Jensen, urschel, and KO in the same sentance. It really hurts me when fans just go overboard the minute a player leaves Baltimore forgetting all the good times and plays he made. you can regret him leaving or hate that he left and that's debateable because in hindsight we also got a 3rd round comp in return. What you can't do is deny how great he was as a Raven...

You can see how bad Pathetic Joe and Self Righteous John have been since Lewis retired. You can make every excuse in the book you want for these two, but it doesn't change the facts. I guess 24 TDs and 4 ints in the playoffs since 2010 isn't good. And blaming the best postseason of all time on one play is ridiculous. Did you forget about the special teams giving up 2 TDs in that game, or the other 10 TD passes Joe threw? How about the fact that he would've been in consecutive SBs if Lee Evans could catch? Qb rating doesn't take into account pass protection or playmakers, so that's not a valid argument. Look at our top receivers since Ray Lewis retired, and look how they play without Joe. In 2013, it was Torrey Smith and Marlon Brown. Torrey has done nothing in SF, and is Marlon even in the league anymore? In 2014, we got SSS, who only had about 700 yards in his final season in CAR, and he had over 1,000 yd s with Flacco, who was once again the best postseason qb, but our injury depleted secondary couldn't hold 2 14 point leads. In 2015, every skill player on offense got injured. Last year, we brought in Mike Wallace, who was not productive at all in Minn, but he also had a resurgent year with Joe. EVERY qb needs a good supporting cast to win.

I just read that the Ravens have set up a meeting with Mike Williams. Yes!!!!
  35. 2 points
Yeah, lets work on Offense now instead of relying on Tucker or waiting until the second half to get things going. Being ranked in the top 7 in D is pretty dang good and now they have to be better to give Joe a chance...

This is a great article. Although Flacco did not have the best of seasons, he played well enough in that Giant's game behind a make shift line to win. In the Pittsburgh game, he played lights out and if it wasn't for a Pitta drop, a Waller drop, we would have won. Pitta also failed to sit in a zone Flacco realized the Steelers were in pre snap late in the game on third down (resulted in a field goal). The key denominator in both of these games for the defense was Jimmy Smith was out (in first half against OBJ, out for the second half). We need him to be healthy as he is a crucial piece to our defense. Let's help the defensive secondary with our first pick with the best way to defend the pass....a pass rusher!

I have two issues with taking Ross at 16. First he always seems to be getting injured. The second issue is imo he won't be the bpa at that point. What Edge or CB is going to be available at that spot.
  39. 2 points
Here's my gut. We select Corey Davis at #16 of the 2017 draft and he's going to ignite our offense right from the get go. With Flacco hopefully recovered from his knee fully and perhaps does take the time to work with his receivers during off season to build a rapport and timing with them, and the addition of Roman to the coaching staff, we should be able to run the ball more effectively as well. So, I think our offense won't look like the ugly step sister of our defense any more.

Read the facts. Cam didn't have weed or a gun. One of the guys that was in the backseat, stashed it under the seat (when he left). When the cops showed up, the passenger actually turned the gun over to the police immediately. It's why the DA dropped all charges. You think a Louisiana cop is gonna give a break to an Alabama player? If you get pulled over for speeding in Pittsburgh with a MD tag & a Ravens bumper sticker - you're not getting off with a warning......

I loved Kubiak here in Baltimore, but I knew that IF he decided to be an HC again after his time here and recovered from his health issues he'd be a short-timer. here. I always liked him as OC for the Broncos and HC for Houston and knew he'd help Baltimore greatly. I was "right" on both accounts though. He did help us and he did leave after a season when his old buddy Elway asked him to coach Denver. I never liked Kyle for his personality and I never like nepotism (like in Washington) but I have to admit that he ran a stellar offense in Atlanta with Joe's 1st rd draft-mate Matt Ryan. In retrospect I wonder if it Kyle mught not have been the better option for long-term benefits for the offense.

KO was not the same KO that we know today, he was above average at best because he was hurt all the time, so Urschel is comparable. Jensen is an average center but it should work out. Worse comes to worst, put Jensen at G and Urschel at C. The leadership will never be at that level, but Weddle and Suggs are doing a pretty darn good job in my opinion. The addition of Jefferson will also boost the confidence and swagger of the secondary. CJ is another up-and-coming guy after he takes Correa under his wing. My gut feeling also tells me that Dumervil returns. Flacco, Yanda and a grown-up Wallace will take on the leadership roles on the offensive side of the ball. KO has missed only 14 games in 5 seasons which really isnt a terrible number. Urschel is not comparable and quite frankly not even close to comparable. And neither is Jensen but I think he has a better chance to start than Urschel does at this point. We will draft some interior guys and hopefully they will be able to beat out those guys.
