Wow. As a fan who left Baltimore in 2003 and found this community I can't say enough about how upsetting this is. Facebook has some of the worst 'Raven' fans.

I made this thread last year, so I figured I'd update it for this year. It's mostly copy/paste, but I've updated it somewhat. It's no secret that teams interview prospects for many different reasons, ranging from genuine interest to purposely feigning interest to trick other teams. In addition, teams will never meet or speak with certain prospects and then draft them, much to the surprise of the player himself. So this got me wondering: how strong of a connection is there between the Ravens' prospect interviews and actually drafting them? Taking what I could find from various sites, I composed a list, highlighting those we actually brought in either through the draft, UDFA, or waivers. 2011 *Baylor guard Danny Watkins (3/16). *Georgia defensive end Justin Houston (3/21, ). +Illinois linebacker Martez Wilson (3/21, 4/?). *Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams (3/21). *Purdue defensive end Ryan Kerrigan (3/22). +Abilene Christian wide receiver Edmund Gates (3/23, 3/27). *Georgia linebacker Akeem Dent (3/?). *Miami cornerback Demarcus Van Dyke (3/?). *Utah State cornerback Curtis Marsh (3/?). *UT-Chattanooga cornerback Buster Skrine (3/24). *Florida State guard/center Rodney Hudson (3/?). +Temple defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson (3/28). *Arizona defensive end Brooks Reed (3/28). *Arizona defensive end Ricky Elmore (3/28). *Appalachian State safety Mark LeGree (3/29). Well, we met with our eventual first round pick every year in which we had a first round pick in this sample size, so it seems like they don't purposely not interview the players they want in the first. After the first though... it seems like a crap-shoot. We interview around 25 prospects for every 1 we actually draft. Most of the players we draft each year after the first round are never even interviewed, at least according to what we know from these databases. Of our second round picks over this stretch, we only interviewed Torrey Smith. What I wish I had consistent in all of this data is when/where we are meeting these prospects. A meeting in private might be weighted more heavily than a meeting at the EW Shrine Game, for example. Another thing we will never know is just how much the Ravens actually coveted a player they didn't even have a chance to draft. For example, the Ravens never actually interviewed Khalil Mack, but they attempted to trade up from 17 to get him. They interviewed and really coveted Marcus Peters, but they never had the chance to draft him. And they twice met with and then tried to trade up for Jalen Ramsey, but Jerry Jones thought we actually wanted Elliott for some reason, so that never happened. Needless to say, it's hard to know who they really want in a given year. Anyway, this list is nostalgic if nothing else.

I took cam as the likely, and Barnett as the one I want, but I don't think Barnett is there, in which case I would want Tim Williams who I really think is an elite talent

Perriman! He's in a starting roll and should get between 7 and 10 targets a game. I would say Waller if he was a starter. Flacco is a better passer between the numbers and with he's size and speed would be a mismatch for any Linebacker or Safety.

So I just finished watching Harbs talk live on Facebook and the commenting section was attrocious. Everyone was saying bring back this person, that person. Eventually it got to Ray Rice and people were actually comparing him to Dennis Pitta, in terms of how they have missed a few seasons but only Pitta was kept "because it was personal". Seriously Admins!? Do you really want to leave us with this crap?

Forget that. He's gonna bring the single season rushing record in 12 games. Average 200+ yards on the ground. Break LTs single season TD record, and then break Marshall faulk career high in receiving yards
  17. 4 points
I agree you could tell Perriman was catching on near the end of the season. He was 4 of the top 10 plays for the Ravens based off of NFL Network with his limitd role and he slowly started catching on, and had a couple good catches that were barely out of bounds. I would love Waller to get more play time his size and speed I think benefits the offense more than Pitta to be honest. I wonder if the Ravens use Pitta more in the slot like they used to when the Ravens won the Super Bowl back in 2012/2013. He cannot block at all. The one player I hope really breaks out though is Maxx Williams. He showed flashes as a rookie, but was injured and looked lost last year early in the process.

I think a huge root of the problem is a lot of us, especially myself, put too much stock into how well this team would play with Flacco coming off an acl/mcl tear, your best target coming off an achilles tear, your other wide receiver coming off two acl tears, and no proven guy at running back (after cutting an injured and old Forsett). Also two rookies on the line didn't help, the injuries didn't help but the team should have had better depth. Hindsight we should've known that with the offensive coordinator changes and everything else changing in the offense, that it would take time for the offense to click. Unfortunately by the time the offense started clicking was when the defense lost Jimmy Smith and started to slip. The Ravens need consistency on offense. There is too many moving pieces each year that it is no wonder that the team struggles. That includes the coaching staff. Looking at the top offenses over the years, the best ones are the ones that have the same core group of people year in and out.

I'm no cap expert, but spotrac says that Joe's cap hit in 2017 is $24 million. Right next to that is the dead cap, which says $47 million. That is nowhere near the 18.5 million that you are saying. 47 million in dead money is not manageable at all. And again, if you think that you could run this team, go play Madden and see how well you could do. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/joe-flacco-4000/

predicted: Corey Davis preference: Forrest Lamp I really hope we have Lamp higher than Cam Robinson on our boards. As a G I think Lamp is better and as a RT I think he would be better too. If I recall correctly Yanda started his career at RT for us and was pushed inside when we had the chance, I think Lamp could follow a similar path. Like Yanda I feel they just both get the job done and position on the line likely would not change their play as much as some guys

but see the issue is that claiborne wanted a fat payday, and that injury risk becomes substantially riskier when you are investing a lot of long term cap in him, not a risk we can afford. and on a related note, we have a top cb, a guy who is far better than claiborne and far more proven, who is also injured nearly every year and taking up a lot of cap space, the man has earned that money though, far more than claiborne has, his injuries have come mostly while making great effort plays and freak accidents occurring, claibornes have been nagging and consistent. and you may be underestimating what carr brings to this defense, he absolutely will change it, and heres why... with jimmy smith on the field, we have a guy we leave on an island, and the opposite side of the field we clutter to all hell with the rest of the secondary, it works pretty well considering shareece wright is the 2nd corner, but he is still a complete liability whom we have to dedicate a lot of our defensive scheme to cover up, and when we want to use a safety elsewhere, suddenly our secondary as a whole no longer matters because wright can be picked on so easily. the defense really is only as good as the weakest cb on a lot of plays depending on the scheme, because its a position that can be exploited totally independent of the supporting cast. we can have a great pass rush, but shareece wright is going to give up separation and cushion so often that the pass rush doesnt matter, we saw it against the patriots in the divisional round, our great pass rush meant nothing because of quick separation. we need a guy who is technically sound and savvy that we can rely on with a fair bit of size, brandon carr exactly. honestly a guy who doesnt just get absolutely roasted every play is what we need, and having some size and ball awareness helps a lot as well as we have seen our 2nd and 3rd cbs get embarrassed by large wrs. carr gives us that extra one second needed to get to the qb, and he gives us a guy that can actually fight for the ball in the redzone. the difference that a solid #2 makes for this defense is massive, with our scheme you wouldnt really see that noticeable of a difference with claiborne vs carr. really what im trying to say is there isnt that much room for improvement in our secondary, we need a solid #2 to make our secondary one of the best in the league, im ok with paying less for a guy without nearly as many injury concerns if it means our secondary is top 5 rather than top 3. less risky and the money could be better used elsewhere. ill admit though i was on board with claiborne and didnt even know carr was in play for us, maybe not as sexy of a signing but definitely smarter.

ah, so you have proven once and for all, with cold hard numbers, that you have no clue what youre talking about. his dead cap figure is 47m, cold hard fact, no way around it. im curious as to where you got 18.5m? and to answer the question... our current top 51cap is: 143.5m the NFL salary cap is: 167m after accounting for rollover and dead cap, this leave the ravens with: 10.9m joe flaccos dead cap on a trade would be: 47m cap figure after trading joe: 190.5m(top 51) how far over the cap are we?: 23.5m that number is not manageable.

Correa might be a disappointing edge rusher but he can be special as an ILB. He plays so damn fast and relentless and with complete disregard for his body. He's just a dog, he just has to get his technique cleaned up and learn to use his body better, take on blockers at an angle rather than head on etc.

  46. 2 points
Who I think we take: Cam Robinson- he solidifies our oline and brings a nastiness to our run game. Gets us bigger and stronger in the trenches. Who I want us to take: Oj Howard- he's probably the safest prospect in this class and probably has the most upside at the same time. Howard will be an all pro and could become the best tight end in the NFL. Although I don't think he will be available when we pick

Winning another Super Bowl??? How about making the playoffs again first? Last season, with no notable holes in any position, and as few impact injuries as seldom in the history of the NFL, the Bengals flopping and the Browns - well, being the Browns... and with a not really a killer schedule we still managed to miss the playoffs...

So Chad Reuter just did a 5 round mock on NFL.com and its awful for us. (IMO at least). Dont think i like or understand a single pick made for us. RD 1 - John Ross But Malik Hooker and Reuben Foster were still on the board. RD 2- Cordrea Tankersly Prob my least favorite of the "2nd tier" CB's. Has us taking him, which i find to be a reach, with guys like Feeney, Tim Williams, Malik McDowell, Lawson, Marlon Humphrey, Budda Baker, and Sidney Jones still on the baord. RD 3 (1) - Ethan Pocic Not only do i think Elflein is the better player, but also a much better fit for what we want to do with our OL. He doesnt have Elflein picked at all in the first 5 rounds. Plus, guys like Godwin, Des King, Dorian Johnson, Duke Riley, Eluemunor, Kazee, and Kupp all still on the board. RD 3 (2) - Ryan Anderson Actually dont hate this... though id like it even more if we had hit on a pass rush specialist somewhere else. The two could platoon one side. I see him becoming a legit 3 down player with enough pass rush ability to keep on the field, and eventual replacement for Suggs, but i dont see him being a big threat off the edge right away. Other guys still on the board that go off before our next pick - Witherspoon, Adam Shaheen, Marcus Williams RD 4 - Jamaal Williams, RB Dont like this pick much at all. Several RBs i like just as much if not more later. Players we miss out on: Marcus Maye, Corn Elder, Treston Decoud, Howard Wilson, Joe WIlliams, Marlon Mack, DJ Jones, Bisnowaty, Asiata, RD 5 - Freddie Stevenson, FB I get we lost Juice... but going RB/FB rounds 4-5 makes no sense to me at all. We have a cpl guys that can fill the FB void, and Woodhead gives us a legit 3rd down back that can protect before slipping out of the backfield. Dont view RB as much of a need or even want unless its a potential star at a value spot (Fournette, Cook/McCaffery in the 2nd) or a homerun hitter (Cohen late). FB i see no reason to draft. Not many teams use a FB anymore, so i cant see much competition to draft one... should have your pick of the litter in UDFA and should have a leg up in getting them to sign with us, as we offer a great opportunity for them then almost any other team. And Dalvin Tomlinson was picked after this.... and even though we signed BWill, thats just too good of value to pass up at this point imo. Not to mention Elflein was still on the board...
