Apologies in advance for how long this post will be - because i was using excel to collate everything it's difficult for it to format well into this forum: i considered just putting it all on a google drive for y'all but that doesn't really seem like the done thing here... If it is I can maybe collate it all on a google drive and post a link to make it easier... Apologies as well for the bizarre post earlier that obviously didn't work. I'll start with my mock because it's easiest i reckon. I tried not to be too obvious as far as possible but within reason so a lot of the picks will look familiar I imagine. I fully mocked 2 rounds and then drafted in the ball park for the other picks: MOCK DRAFT Round 1 1) Browns - Myles Garrett - EDGE 2) 49ers - Jonathan Allen - DL: I find it hard to see the 49ers three-peating with DL in the first but the Jets kind of did it in the past and there's no offensive talent for Shanahan to clamour for at this spot. I could very much see the 49ers trying to trade out of this spot for a team that loves a qb and thinks the bears / jets will take one. 3) Bears - Solomon Thomas - DL: Thomas is a missing piece on that defence but I could also see the Bears trying to trade out of this spot too - it's reported that both the Jets and Browns are interested in Trubisky but there were quotes from a scout saying the Jets were in love with Trubisky but that he wouldn't make it to 6 - I personally have a feeling that's a Titans scout trying to scare a team into trading with them at number 5. 4) Jaguars - Leonard Fournette - RB 5) Titans - Jamal Adams - S 6) Jets - Marshon Lattimore - CB: The jets may take Trubisky but I'm going to err away from the side of sensationalism. 7) Chargers - Malik Hooker - S 8) Panthers - OJ Howard - TE: Greg Olsen is getting older and there are no linemen worthy of this pick I think - OJ Howard gives Cam Newton a weapon he'll find it hard to miss. 9) Bengals - Derek Barnett - EDGE: Game-changer off the edge, I'd hate this but it makes a lot of sense. 10) Bills - Mike Williams - WR: They need help opposite Sammy Watkins (or to replace him when he's injured) 11) Saints - Reuben Foster - ILB 12) Browns - Mitchell Trubisky - QB: They apparently really like him so if he falls to 12 I see them pulling the trigger. 13) Cardinals - Deshaun Watson - QB: I struggled with this pick so looked around the league - I have the impression that the Cardinals are happy at qb but there is a growing idea that they'll pick a qb here. 14) Eagles - Dalvin Cook - RB 15) Colts - Forest Lamp - OL 16) Ravens - Corey Davis - WR: He's a different kind of receiver to what Flacco has at the moment. The worries about the level of competition are obviously real but I have confidence that he can transition well because of his elite route-running skills and ability to hands-catch. 17) Washington - Haason Reddick - LB 18) Titans - John Ross - WR 19) Bucs - Christian Mccaffrey - RB 20) Broncos - Cam Robinson - OL 21) Lions - Tim Williams - EDGE 22) Dolphins - Zach Cunningham - ILB 23) Giants - Ryan Ramcyzk - OL 24) Raiders - Marlon Humphrey - CB 25) Texans - Garrett Bolles - OL 26) Seahawks - Teez Tabor - CB 27) Chiefs - Dan Feeney - OL 28) Cowboys - Gareon Conley - CB 29) Packers - Taco Charlton - EDGE 30) Steelers - Takk Mckinley - EDGE 31) Falcons - Budda Baker - S 32) Saints - Tredavius White - CB: I'm assuming the trade for Malcolm Butler doesn't happen and that the Saints need a corner. Round 2 1) Browns - Obi Melifonwu - S 2) 49ers - Quincy Wilson - CB 3) Jags - Jabrill Peppers - S 4) Bears - Deshone Kizer - QB 5) Rams - Charles Harris - EDGE 6) Chargers: Jarrad Davis - EDGE 7) Jets - Alvin Kamara - RB 8) Panthers - Adoree Jackson - CB 9) Bengals - Cooper Kupp - WR 10) Saints - Malik Mcdowell - DL 11) Eagles - David Njoku - TE 12) Bills - Patrick Mahomes - QB 13) Cardinals - Pat Elflein - OL 14) Colts - TJ Watt - EDGE 15) Ravens - Carl Lawson - EDGE: The injuries are a potential issue but he has legitimate first round talent and can wreck off the edge which is why he probably is untouchable for the ravens until now. Ryan Anderson/Evan Engram could be the pick if we are too uncomfortable with his injuries. 16) Vikings - Zay Jones - WR 17) Washington - Davis Webb - QB 18) Bucs - Ryan Anderson - EDGE 19) Broncos - Dion Dawkins - OL 20) Browns - Chidobe Awuzie - CB 21) Lions - Joe Mixon - RB 22) Dolphins - Jourdan Lewis - CB 23) Giants - Sidney Jones - CB 24) Raiders - Dont'a Foreman - RB 25) Texans - Evan Engram - TE 26) Seahawks - Taylor Moton - OL 27) Chiefs - Dede Westbrook - WR 28) Cowboys - Demarcus Walker - EDGE 29) Packers - Tanoh Kpassagnon - EDGE 30) Steelers - Kevin King - CB 31) Falcons - Ethan Pocic - OL 32) Panthers - Curtis Samuel - WR Round 3 Fabian Moreau - CB: A highly accomplished corner with first round talent who will most likely fall a little bit due to the sheer numbers of corners and the injury that will keep him out of OTAs etc. If he is taken then I could see Isaac Asiata or Howard Wilson being the pick here. Akhello Witherspoon - CB: Double dipping at corner might not be expected here but I think these guys could be the BPA picks at both these spots. Witherspoon is a brilliant cover corner who maybe shies away from contact too much but could maybe see a philosophy change once he's getting good money to make tackles and in our case to even get on the field. I could see these two corners developing really well together behind carr, smith and with tavon. Round 4 Anthony Garcia - OL: An interesting tackle prospect with some elite traits. He has great quickness and the ability to mirror edge rushers, is rarely beaten with speed. His major problem and it may not be fixable even in an NFL weight program is his body frame - he mostly plays under 300 which isnt ideal and im not sure he has the frame to add much more weight. He could be a useful addition to the right tackle competition - but i wonder how he'd hold up against bull rushers. Round 5 Donnel Pumphrey - RB: He's mocked to us a lot I think around here and I wanted to do something new but he makes a lot of sense. Running back help including someone with a twitchy type speed albeit maybe it isnt quite the breakaway speed we've been yearning. Round 6 Deatrich Wise Jr - EDGE: A guy who didn't have the greatest production but didnt show too many reasons why it wasnt working. He has potential as a late guy - probably projected in the 5th but I could see him dropping down to this round just because of all the combine notables and other guys who have more production this last year. Barnett's done it against NFL level competition. Got 3 sacks going up against Tunsil in 2015. Most still think he'll be a great LT in the league. He abused Cam Robinson who is an NFL talent. Looked good and was productive against DJ Humphries. Will Holden, David Sharpe, Kendall Baker who are all NFL level talents. And he's had some of his best, most dominant performances against the guys most viewed to be guaranteed NFL talents... and high end talents (depending on position with Cam) against Alabama and Ole Miss. Granted it's no guarantee. And this is one I can't wait to bring back up once we see him play in the NFL... but theres a lot more to like than just his bend. Its the way he sets up his pass rushes and has a plan of attack, his polished moves/counter moves, the footwork, his finishing ability, and his combo of hand fighting, footwork, and bend that allow him to take the most direct path to the QB which allows him to get there just as quickly as some of the guys who are more athletic than him but have to take a more rounded route to the QB. The only reason he gets the Suggs comp is bc hes a guy that on tape clearly has elite talent, has probably the most NFL ready skill set of any pass rusher ive seen in some time but at the very least in this draft class thats strong on pass rushers, has elite, steady production over 3 years against arguably the best competition available, and is a hardworking leader thats also a really good kid by all accounts who could only fall due to over-valuing raw athleticism. But we will see.

I'll bite. John Ross and Cam Robinson are high up on my "do not touch" lists. I don't like either, but thanks to an amazing combine from Ross he will probably go high. Likely to us which would piss me the hell off. Cam Robinson I don't like either, and if we draft him I'll call for Ozzie's head. Ramcyzk is the superior prospect.

No way do i think Peppers goes before we're on the clock. Howard may not go Top 15. I think he will, but i dont think in any way its a lock. Foster could slip. At least one team in the Top 15 has him off their board completely, and with Reddick's ascension a team looking for that ILB could decide Reddick's versatility, athleticism, and ability to pass rush is more worth it than Foster. I could see Williams being available. It's not likely, but if say Tenn falls in love with Ross and someone else views Davis as the #1 guy -- Williams could slide. Idk that its even a guarantee that any Top 15 team goes WR with all the defensive talent available. Wouldnt be totally surprised is both Williams and Davis were on the board. I also dont think Barnett is a lock to go Top 15. With Reddick flying up boards, Tim Williams red flags dissipating to a degree, and Takk, Taco and Harris all having more athletic gifts -- we've seen teams fall in love with that raw ability/upside over the proven, polished play maker. And, literally every mock generator i do that matches big board up with team needs, seems to have Barnett over looked. Even when hes rated properly on the big board as the 3-10th prospect.... he gets passed for some reason. Browns are taking Garret, and then outside that who has a need for pass rusher or doesnt have another highly rated prospect available to them at a position of greater need? If Barnett gets past NO i think he's there for us. Maybe Carolina, maybe Cinci, and then NO. Only teams i could see going for him. But cant see Carolina passing up on Fournette, Adams, Hooker, or Lattimore. All or most should be available. Cant see Cinci going pass rush if Foster's there. I could see them go Williams before Barnett too. NO's the only one. But i could see them go secondary if they have a highly rated player available (Lattimore if available, Humphrey, Conley, etc..). So i wouldnt say 100% no. Its certainly possible. I mean no one wouldve said Tunsil was gonna be there for Miami and that 2-3 tackles would go ahead of him. but they did.

I expect multiple superbowls too from Harbaugh/Flacco era.. But you gotta get back to Ravens football. Ravens Smashmouth identity. Ground and pound, playaction deep pass style game, not sling it 45x a game like last year and when Joe lead nfl in passing attempts.
  12. 3 points
Once the Ravens actually have a contract signed by Mosley that keeps him here for "many, many, many years", then I'll believe it. But sadly, even with contracts these days nothing is guaranteed.

I think people over estimate Jernigan's value. He tends to disappear for long stretches at a time and lost playing time to Carl Davis. He has moments of being good, but he's not a great player, or someone that you build your defense around.

  16. 3 points
Exactly! Thank you lol. The guy is a legit play maker and he will kill people in space at the next level.
  17. 3 points
I agree entirely on Ross but disagree about cam - he doesn't fill a need if he plays guard but I really think he could be an excellent and dominant guard in the NFL
  18. 3 points
Dont like the idea of Ross with our 1st. Just dont want another guy whose main asset is speed. It's great, and could lead to an explosive offense -- but hes already got an extensive injury history, and speed is a trait that can diminish with injuries. He's more well rounded than most speed guys in that hes not a one dimensional, one-trick pony.... but take away the speed and the other traits arent worth a 1st round pick. Not even close. King i actually do like. Great height, length, athleticism combo. Has a frame to actually fill out even more to where he could bully even the biggest, most physical receivers in the league. And great at tracking/denying the ball; especially deep. May not be a day 1 plug and play type of guy like some of the others, but we dont necessarily need that with Carr here and his upside is tremendous. And Magnuson i actually like, but think its a bit early here. I like Moton and he could be around here... if Elflein is available im definitely going him here over the RT. I actually really like Jordan Morgan out of Kutztown in this range, maybe a little later, over Magnuson. 6'4", 310-320 lb dude, 4 yr starter at LT who probably projects better to guard but I think could play RT. Has great feet and is a nasty, mauling dude.

I like it. I don't love it but that's ok. Like too see different names. I think Magnuson is a bit of a reach and would prefer Dawkins. Also don't like perine. We already have west and Dixon we need a home run threat. I really like Marlon Mack from usf for us in the same round
  21. 3 points
2nd round pick for Jernigan who's gone next year anyway is a coup. I'd be on board 100% Jernigans talent is real but his lack of consistency is frustrating. Some team really could make a play for him because they want to contribute now and have first dibs at getting him long term, trade for him and avoid a bidding war, extend him with a prove it deal. Makes sense. Doubt it happens though
  22. 3 points
What do you guys think of Dareus Rogers WR USC. He's 6-1 215 so he has good size and seems to have very reliable ball skills. Fits the mold of "possession reciever" just haven't heard much from him. He's really been flying under the radar and I like what I see. He fights for the ball and most importantly for a receiver, he uses his HANDS to catch the ball.
  23. 2 points
Absolutely agree. A few other things will help immensely- keeping the same OC, just so the pass play and blocking schemes can remain intact. Next improve the running game- big plays and yds per down, first downs and TD's. Reduce penalties and lastly increase time of possession. Do those things and this team has a shot at the trophy.

Since it sounds like the team is done until the draft, I can honestly say that I'm a little confused on the direction of this team. I know the draft is still yet to happen but I don't really see the plan here. Are we retooling or are we going for it? The same holes still exist as they have for years now - WR, OL, OLB, and CB. We made an attempt at filling CB in Carr but that's clearly a 1-2 year stopgap and nothing more. We opted to spend our money on positions that weren't really needs. Tony Jefferson is obviously the big get. I can't complain about this one since he's young and a clear signing for the future, but I still find it interesting how much we spent on him when we at least had a viable option already on the roster in Webb, even if it was short term. Woodhead wasn't expensive, but still interesting that we chose to invest there when you have a bevy of RBs in the draft. I love Williams but his re-signing still confuses me in the grand scheme of things. I like getting him back but I still question whether it was the best use of money considering none of our holes have been filled, and you had a guy that maybe you had to rely on stepping up. Furthermore, we've opted to keep all 87 of our tight ends for the time being. I know we have a young group but I see no point in having both Pitta and Watson on the roster when that cap could probably be better used, but I guess there's still time for that to happen. Overall, I guess I'm just failing to see the direction. We invested in a few stopgaps and a few younger players, but still have the same holes. Is that a team that can compete?

A lot of number 1 receivers have been integral in getting their team to the superbowl though or close - just because the big game is annually taken over by the patriots doesn't mean those number 1 guys on other teams aren't worth the money

Ok so the reasons I don't like john Ross at 16 are these: 1) minus his speed he is not the best at anything in this receiver corps - mike Williams is better with contested catches, Corey Davis is much better at route running and extending his body, juju smith is better at high pointing the ball, Dede Westbrook is a better pure deep threat, zay jones has better hands and Ross is smaller than all of the above etc. etc. John Ross's only elite quality is his deep speed which isn't enough at 16 - this is not say he's bad or even average at the above things but given the elite speed the Ravens possess already - he doesn't add elite qualities at other skills in the corps - he'd be a good trade back option but the quality of alternatives at 16 will be much higher 2) the injuries really are an issue - not just because of his history but because of his frame - he's not a big receiver even if he occasionally does play beyond his size - he will take much more wear and tear on his smaller frame than other available receivers in this draft which makes him unreliable or at least a risk which is not really something the Ravens can afford at receiver given perriman, campanaro, Pitta, Watson and maxx Williams injury issues and Boyle and Waller's suspension history 3) the need at receiver, while large, is nowhere near as high as edge rusher, corner, offensive lineman - I know the Ravens always trust the board and go BPA at every pick but a significant part of the formula for creating the board includes need n.b. Just to address the hype and play-speed criticism, id like to say that I disagree that Ross hype is purely based on the combine because the combine results, while extraordinary, were never out of the realm of possibility because he really does look that quick on film, and the play-speed issue - I don't see that when I watch his film at all - he always looks like the fastest guy on the field by a distance and yet given all this, I'd still hate the pick at 16 because I don't think there any situation where he's the best player available - to dismiss him as a prospect is spiteful and stupid and he may well blow up the league at another club but I don't like the to at the Ravens - there's a reason I have him in the 20s on my big board and part of that is the Ravens-centric aspect of it - he may well be higher on other teams' board - and with good reason - he just doesn't make sense either in terms of fit or value with the Ravens at 16

Well it's not post combine hype he's a big play waiting to happen from anywhere on the field. There is this misconception about him that he's just a speedy guy where he can actually run all the routes in a route tree look at the film you see that.

Obviously it helps to simply be "better", but for the defense, there's no reason that a unit that plays so well throughout the game should keep crumbling in clutch situations. In the last 2 years, the Ravens lead the league in games lost when the offense had a 4th qtr, go ahead drive. I think the main problem there is the soft, scared coverage they play late in games. They're so afraid of giving up the big play, they just let the qb play pitch and catch down the field. Dean Pees acknowledged that the DBs were playing too far off on that last drive in pitts, so why not do something about it? The secondary staying healthy would go a long way as well. The offense just needs more playmakers. Rodney Harrison was right last year. It's not good when your best playmaker by far is a 37 year old coming off an Achilles tear.

He's an extremely rangy center fielder that the Ravens defense has missed for awhile. We're kinda set at safety now and he's a bit of a luxury pick, but still, he could be one of the top 5 safeties in the league after a bit more experience.

I've been trying to post on other outlets since this will be closing ... Ravens Facebook fans smh. Spent several back and forth comments arguing with a guy lol. It started with his preference of Derrick Henry instead of Correa ( ok sure we have our own draft fantasy scenarios ). Then the guy says "they screwed that up just like the year we traded back to get Kindle and missed out on drafting Dez Bryant since we traded back lol" i said thats the exact opposite of what happen Dallas traded up and stole Dez Bryant right from us then the team traded back since Bryant was gone. enter name calling ( oh boy I'll miss this little message board ) lol
  43. 1 point
Indeed...this is yet another example of very vague/unclear wording of the rules that I anticipate will lead to a lot of confusion and controversy.
  44. 1 point
And that's where the confusion comes. What is the plan? Are we contending or building for the future? The obvious choice is a little bit of both but it hasn't been that cut and dry so far. There are options in rounds 2-4 but there are also 3-4 other positions you seemingly have to hit that you'd like to get in that range as well. I get what you're saying but to this point, the offense as a whole has largely been ignored and it's tough to see a plan there.
  45. 1 point
That type of deal essentially makes Jernigan a throw in piece. I feel like his value to this team is being severely understated right now. He's certainly inconsistent, but even if he walks after the year, he's certainly more valuable to us on the field than the proposed pick most people would accept in return. The only ways moving on from Jernigan makes sense is if it's a swap for another position of need, you get great value, or the team is intent on this being a rebuilding year which has already been proven to not be the case. I think the reality is that trading Jernigan doesn't make sense. If you can get a 2nd or maybe a 3rd out of him, great. I don't see that as being anywhere close to likely though. For a 4th or later, I'd rather just have him on field production for one more year.

Its not going to be front page Ravens news, Some of us were at the open camp last year, saw him get in the fights, basically get removed from practice and things seemed to go wrong from there. The last place you want to have "on the field problems" is in your own camp, especially as a rookie. The kid had some growing to do, lets just leave it at that. So its a new year, a new beginning and he has grown as a Raven. Its time to earn respect on the field, in the position and show the talent that he has. I think the young player has talent. Looking forward to a new season and good things from him.

With the 13th Pick in the 5th Round of the 2017 Forum Mock Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select... Will Holden, OT, Vanderbilt

Good pick. My draft should be called "Fantastic Busts and where to find them"

So our problem is that we're really good at finding starter to star level ILB's through UDFA? Struggling to see the problem....

If the Ravens go OT in the first round, I'd really prefer Ramczyk over Robinson. He's a far more natural fit at tackle on the NFL level than Cam will be. Granted, I don't want to go OT in the first either way, but if we are I'd rather have the sure prospect over the guy with a lot of "coachable" bad habits.
