    That would be idiotic draft

as much as i LOVE dalvin cook as a rb (been on his hype train since last year, have always said hes better than fournette) id be really disappointed if we drafted him in the first. im on the kenneth dixon bandwagon 100% and had him as my 2nd back in the 2016 draft, and i think his play the second half of the season indicated that we have a young monster on our hands.

When I was at UCF, they lived in the same building where my dorm was at. Both of them seemed like really cool guys from the number of times I've passed them from and to my room. That being said, I know nothing of his football ability. I can't stress enough how little I pay attention to prospects compared to the game itself (hence why I just lurk and read these draft threads to keep up lol). Of course I would love my fellow Knights to be Ravens like Aiken and Perriman. Speaking of Perriman, I actually got to see him near my dorm like a month before the draft last year. Dude was in good spirits. Totally rooting for him as well. Sorry for going off a tangent, but yeah.

On selecting an OT over a WR with the first pick: what use do you have of a good WR if the QB has no time throwing to him because the right tackle a swinging door?

lol at the analysts who don't know the team and think the low rushing numbers means we have a RB problem. Sidney Jones would be my ideal realistic pick.

Source where Ozzie told John to hire Kubiak? Pretty sure that didn't actually happen. Most likely a fan-generated myth. The closest article I found. "The last tweet from Baltimore Sun columnist Mike Preston is telling, considering that Jim Hostler was leading the way for the job it seemed. That would insinuate that Harbaugh wanted Hostler and that Ozzie Newsome and Steve Bisciotti were thinking otherwise." http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2014/1/27/5350924/ravens-to-hire-gary-kubiak-as-offensive-coordinator-official Preston also makes stuff up all the time too, so needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

We all said Juice needed to be used more and in more ways, especially when we were lacking at the TE spot from time to time. He got paid big time by the 49ers and we weren't going to match that - good for him. As for Aiken, yeah he was the 4th WR and I don't know that I would have wanted him higher, either. Smith, Wallace, and Breshad were either better than him or had more upside and needed the reps. Don't feel too bad, Kamar, you had bounced around the league as a JAG before getting your shot here. You made good on it and turned it into this latest opportunity.

I'm sorry... but Aiken sounds like he's whining. He had opportunities. Quite a few times I saw where he was basically hit right in the numbers with the ball and dropped the pass. Come on man.... He had a ton of chances to prove himself. I loved Juice. As a fullback, and where the position has taken a back seat to RB's and Receivers, you can basically understand where he's coming from. The play at the end of the Steeler's game is one I will not forget. He laid it out to make that TD. Good Luck to both of them.

Spot on, brother! Amen!!!! Have been saying that since the last snap of last season. Brees, Brady, P. Manning etc... all took pay cuts after they had enough money to last their families through 5 generations and Flacco is now in that boat as well. I feel if he doesn't help the team now, we need to look for his replacement because as soon as that contract gets to a manageable amount for dead money (which is in 2 years) he needs to be let go. The team paid him for his good years and now he either needs to take a pay cut, or have an MVP season or I would say send him down the road. Even after 2 years, he is still in the top 5 QBs in the league in cap money though he is in the bottom 5 starting QB's in performance. We need to draft a QB this year so he is ready in two years when we need to let Flacco walk.

2nd round pick for Jernigan who's gone next year anyway is a coup. I'd be on board 100% Jernigans talent is real but his lack of consistency is frustrating. Some team really could make a play for him because they want to contribute now and have first dibs at getting him long term, trade for him and avoid a bidding war, extend him with a prove it deal. Makes sense. Doubt it happens though
  17. 3 points
While I find it very hard to believe this to be true, you do have to consider they just made Williams the highest paid NT in the NFL, have Jimmy as a very highly paid corner, Jefferson getting paid at S, and Mosley will be up in two years. I'd be much happier with him on the team than off.

Lol the irony of you saying this. Cant hide from his 47m in guaranteed money either, and THATS the bottom line.

That's so cool. I have high hopes that he'll be able to stay healthy and become a contributor for our offense.

You must not know how to read, almost every single member here has said he needs to play better, Joe himself has said it. If you continue to ignore what everyone says it just makes you look flat out stupid. Its like going to McDonalds complaining that there isn't any big macs, while they are fully stocked....You just whine to whine and like the attention while you never make and solid points.

As for Aiken and Juszczyk: time will tell if they were right or wrong. What I cannot help noticing however, is that while I cannot really remember defensive players leaving Baltimore then thropwing back darts, there were 3 offensive guys (these two plus KO last season) who don't really speak really fondly of the Baltimore offense... That less and less seems a coincidence... I've long said, and I still think Harbaugh simply doesn't understand the NFL offense, and that's why he keeps appointing the wrong guys to command our O (with the sole exception of Kubiak), but knows too little to overrule their mistakes in offensive strategy, game planning and play calling. I fiormly believe that as long as Harbaugh is our HC, the only way we can have a good offense is by chance - because nobody who is responsible for it is good enough. I believe all the offensive success we've had since 2008 was not because of our coaching stuff, but in spite of it - out of the virtue of the players. And that's why I think that no matter who we draft and acquire in free agency, we don't really have any real reason to hope for better a season that what we had - because the by far biggest cause of our offensive impotence: the incapable HC - has not been removed from the system. And until that happens, you can count on players leaving Baltimore to throw back shade like this...

E David Thomas agree with Aiken, he deserved more reps or at the very least constructive feedback on what needed improvement to get more play time. my sense is, my beloved Ravens just don['t have a good Reciever Game strategy/route trees/creative plays to take advantage of skills of WR's - they are to predictable and limited to keying on 1 or 2 WR's for any play (lacks flexibility) and simple progression reads that either go to #1 or #2 or very quickly to the dump-off outlet - come on guys, let's get it together for 2017.

People say this all the time, and the facts continue to prove that it isn't remotely close to being true. If Flacco doesn't elevate the play of those around him, then how does Torrey Smith go from averaging over 800 yds and 7 tds to being virtually worthless in SF? Steve Smith was better at 35 and 36 with Joe than he was in his last couple years with CAR. Did he age backwards or did playing with Joe help him out? Mike Wallace's career was taking a nose dive until last year. Ed Dickson even had much better receiving numbers with Joe than he's had in CAR. We've never seen one receiver fail to be productive with Flacco and then light it up somewhere else. Never. Not even close. Meanwhile, whenever Brady gets hurt, his backup comes in and plays very well and wins games, but Brady gets credit for making others better and Flacco does not.

Derek Barnett might be the best pass rusher in the draft, even over garrett, i can't believe some media guys still think he'll fall to the late 1st - i guess if he does then all the better for us at 16 but I struggle to see him get past the bengals, saints, eagles and colts - if he does then we should get usain bolt in to run that namecard to the podium

I so agree with this. Mike Preston's job is to stir up controversy. Not a reliable source by a long shot.

Pretty much a myth based on 2016 statistics. Look at the targets/game: Pitta: 7.4 Wallace: 7.3 Smith: 6.4 Perriman: 4.1 Aiken: 3.1 So Pitta and Wallace were targeted at nearly the same rate, and Steve Smith was only targeted once per game less. Pretty typical for a team with no clear #1 target. Spread out pretty evenly over the top 2-3 players, and then a drop off to the next group. I will agree that Pitta's targets numbers are higher than we normally see from him and probably higher than they should be given his skill sets, but he's getting as much attention as Wallace was, and not significantly more than Steve Smith either.

@JoeyFlex5 fair enough I see where your coming from. I would agree on your part in that case that Williams would be a better fit for us. I'm just not sure our FO will fall in love with the person enough. If he falls which I think could be possible depending how other teams view the receivers.

Wagner, Juszczyk, Orr, and Guy I believe are hug loses for the Ravens. I re watched Ravens vs Skins and Ravens vs Eagles and Guy was awesome. No articles on Guy leaving but that's going to show this season Compare that to what Ravens gained.

If you do not think he is the better RT than he is not the better prospect. The Ravens believe both their guards (obviously Yanda but they seem to believe Lewis will be that as well) are probably bowl level guards and Lewis is not moving to the right. So the only reason you draft Robinson is you either think he is the best RT prospect or you want to move Yanda over. Anything else leaves you even in the best case with pro bowl level talent on the bench and a hole at RT.

The whole fan base knew that Marty wasn't doing a good job, maybe he knew it as well. Now both Juice and Aiken confirm that they weren't being utilized appropriately. Yet Harbaugh stood by him with some misplaced sense of loyalty at his own peril and at the peril of our offense. Unless internally some arrangements have been made top down to have Greg Roman design the offense moving forward, I see us in big trouble frankly. All we know is Joe and Pitta wanted him back perhaps due to comfort level they had developed (even though it stifled our offense) and hence the whole organization starting with Harbaugh caved. It is just depressing to know that despite clear evidence we are trying to do the same thing over again expecting a different result. It doesn't work that way unless of course Greg Roman was brought in precisely for that not to happen.

I think Flacco heard Aiken, as at the end of the season he seemed to look for him more....We have speed in Perriman and Wallace, what we need is a slot WR who has no fear running crossing routes.....I would have had no issue if Aiken came back....But lets give Moore a shot, he seemed to be pretty physical....our WR corp really isn't in that bad a shape, we have Mattthew's at 6-5, Camp who can be a tough to cover, and has shown he can run that jet sweep with success....draft BPO, and groom them...and sign a veteran ILBer....I also think Judon is going to be a beast this year with more snaps....

Kamar Aiken dropped quite a few passes two seasons ago when he had that 900+ yard season. He did nothing exceptionally well-- yes he wasn't BAD and he wasn't great, he was okay and "okay" we can find at any league corner. Unfortunately (for him) we are looking for great so... no hard feelings bro, enjoy your time in Indy.

I'm pretty sure he identified already that the Ravens were identifying things that he didn't do well or needed to work on. Seemed he just simply disagreed. The problem with Aiken is that I don't see a particular set of skills that he brings to the table that differentiates himself from his peers, and I think the league knows that. Aiken's skill set was being sure handed on 3rd down and moving the chains, which he did when he played. His peers: Perriman- deep threat with no hands Wallace- deep threat who occasionally had no hands Ironically, his best shot for playing time would've come with this years Ravens since, with the departure of SSS, he would have had the surest hands on the team aside from getting one of the top 3 WR in the draft. Aiken isn't better than Wallace or Perriman, and definitely wasn't better than SSS. I'm not sure that he is better than Campanaro if Camp can stay healthy. Here's what I remember from Aiken: He missed a great opportunity on a seam route against Pittsburgh (might have dropped it if I'm not mistaken) and I think it was the Raiders game where he dropped a 4th and 10 that Flacco put right in his chest. It was a difficult catch, but he was dropping that before he got hit. As people pointed out, he had a higher drop percentage than any of our WRs. If you want to play, stand out. He hasn't stood out. If he was so good, he would have gotten more than a 1 year prove it deal again. Could he have played this year? Yeah maybe. But we are also trying to improve, not continue to go 8-8.

There's some decent stuff there, especially the play review process. A centralized system is the way it should be done and allows for the quickest decisions I think.

And that's the kind of statement that drives the opposing side crazy. He made so many good points and eloquently stated them. You held on to the one point that he "spoke wrong" and threw out everything he said when in reality you know exactly what he means. i literally cringe every time a conversation like this happens. On one side, people who criticize Joe often take it too far to say something like cut him or trade him when it's not even logical. On the other hand, people defending Joe will go so far that theyl throw everyone around joe under the bus to defend him.
  47. 2 points
he'll be fighting with dorsett for the number 3 spot - ty hilton and donte moncrief are pretty set as the 1 and 2 and he'll be fighting the tight end jack doyle for targets as well - so if anything he went somewhere where he's probably got more competition for opportunities
  48. 2 points
There's a massive difference from already having one of the worst WR groups in the league compared to the Steelers and Cowboys. Also, you missed the point completely. Outside of Dez, both those teams don't really have any injury concerns at WR. So I'm not sure what your comparison is getting at. Perrimen has been in the league two years and has had two major injuries to his lower body. I would consider that injury prone. I'm not even going to comment on Camp because he can't stay on the field long enough to deserve a comment. My initial point meant that we are a couple plays away from having the worst WR group in the NFL. We already have one in the bottom 10 and I know it's hard for some of you to accept that.

Henry did pretty well, considering he got about 25% of total carries - 4.5 y average and 5 TDs, no turnovers. Prorated, that's close to 1000y / 10TD rookie season. I suspect it would be even better - RBs need more touches to get into better rhythm.
