Heartbreaking. One of my all time favorites. I even went to his softball games at the stadium.

When I was at UCF, they lived in the same building where my dorm was at. Both of them seemed like really cool guys from the number of times I've passed them from and to my room. That being said, I know nothing of his football ability. I can't stress enough how little I pay attention to prospects compared to the game itself (hence why I just lurk and read these draft threads to keep up lol). Of course I would love my fellow Knights to be Ravens like Aiken and Perriman. Speaking of Perriman, I actually got to see him near my dorm like a month before the draft last year. Dude was in good spirits. Totally rooting for him as well. Sorry for going off a tangent, but yeah.

On selecting an OT over a WR with the first pick: what use do you have of a good WR if the QB has no time throwing to him because the right tackle a swinging door?

And that's the kind of statement that drives the "Flacco lovers" nuts. As a matter of fact, the Ravens were in the top 3rd of the league in AVOIDING 3 and outs. He was NOT failing to move the chains at a high rate. Granted, there were too many failed attempts at securing the first down later in the drive, but a fair amount of that was lacking a playmaker on offense. It takes two to move the chains.

I could live with Ramczyk over Robinson. But leaving Barnett and Davis on the board would make me sad.

of course he can... he just did

Peppers has stated at the Combine that he is a safety and he intends to play safety at the next level. He only played LB because he wanted to help his team out. I don't see why some people are so pressed to draft a inside LB even with our track record to discover guys in the UDFA market.

Theres having a difference of opinion.... Theres also hitting your face on your keyboard 5 times then hitting submit reply. I feel like he was the latter.

It's clear something is terribly wrong with Flacco, even with how bad the offensive line is, his mechanics and inaccuracies on throws are incredibly bad this season. It seems like every deep throw is thrown off his back foot, I don't even remember the last time I've seen him step into his throws. For a nine year veteran, there isn't any excuse why his mechanics have regress the way that they have.

We all said Juice needed to be used more and in more ways, especially when we were lacking at the TE spot from time to time. He got paid big time by the 49ers and we weren't going to match that - good for him. As for Aiken, yeah he was the 4th WR and I don't know that I would have wanted him higher, either. Smith, Wallace, and Breshad were either better than him or had more upside and needed the reps. Don't feel too bad, Kamar, you had bounced around the league as a JAG before getting your shot here. You made good on it and turned it into this latest opportunity.

I'm sorry... but Aiken sounds like he's whining. He had opportunities. Quite a few times I saw where he was basically hit right in the numbers with the ball and dropped the pass. Come on man.... He had a ton of chances to prove himself. I loved Juice. As a fullback, and where the position has taken a back seat to RB's and Receivers, you can basically understand where he's coming from. The play at the end of the Steeler's game is one I will not forget. He laid it out to make that TD. Good Luck to both of them.

I understand the being in the playoffs once in the last four years is blamed on Flacco BUT Flacco played half a season once and was rehabbing the trashed knee last year. I've posted this somewhere it takes 18 months to get over the whole knee thing, physically the player is ready but psychologically he may not be. I forget which home game last year Flacco trashed his knee brace because he went down funny in his slide and hobbled off the field to the tunnel to get it changed out and came out ready to play---as player that has to stick with you. The revolving door at OC impacts the entire offense and oh boy did it show. The stupid penalties killed the team as well as QB play. Personally I like Joe and I know he will never be Peyton or Tom, because franchise QB's of their caliber do not grow on trees or everyone would have one except maybe Cleveland.

Highly unlikely. Too much talent to be had at 16 and in the second.

I am really impressed with the moves made this year. I think were building a strong team and we'll continue that trend in the draft. It impossible to fill ever hole up with top notch players but if we can shore up the Oline and get a pass rusher of quality then were set for the year. We obvs need another WR but that can be a vet on a minimum contract or through the draft. To me, i dont think adding a WR is that important. We have Wallace and Perriman on the sides and Pitta roaming the middle to move the chains. How many teams out there can say they have a competent player at every position?

Spot on, brother! Amen!!!! Have been saying that since the last snap of last season. Brees, Brady, P. Manning etc... all took pay cuts after they had enough money to last their families through 5 generations and Flacco is now in that boat as well. I feel if he doesn't help the team now, we need to look for his replacement because as soon as that contract gets to a manageable amount for dead money (which is in 2 years) he needs to be let go. The team paid him for his good years and now he either needs to take a pay cut, or have an MVP season or I would say send him down the road. Even after 2 years, he is still in the top 5 QBs in the league in cap money though he is in the bottom 5 starting QB's in performance. We need to draft a QB this year so he is ready in two years when we need to let Flacco walk.

This is just one of those really deep drafts where we wish we had 11 picks instead of 7. I would've no problem trading down in this one and collect a couple more 2-3rd round picks.

You must not know how to read, almost every single member here has said he needs to play better, Joe himself has said it. If you continue to ignore what everyone says it just makes you look flat out stupid. Its like going to McDonalds complaining that there isn't any big macs, while they are fully stocked....You just whine to whine and like the attention while you never make and solid points.

Gilmore had surgery on his shoulder and his other shoulder just missed the knife. Two separate tears on hamstring. That's not banged up, it's been real injuries.

Source where Ozzie told John to hire Kubiak? Pretty sure that didn't actually happen. Most likely a fan-generated myth. It is. Kubiak said the ONLY reason he came to Baltimore was BECAUSE of Harbaugh. Those were Kubiak's words not some made up troll drivel...

Baltimorebeatdown.com just posted a 7 round mock with us taking him in the first. Several of their writers love him and every time they do a mock they somehow have us drafting him.

because he tore it up on the back end looking like an earl thomas clone with incredible range, great instincts, great speed, great ball skills, good tackling, and good enough in run support that he doesnt just have to be used as an out and out free safety albeit that is where he'd look best - the comparisons to ed reed are maybe a little too lofty but he really looks like earl thomas on film

So are we all just in agreement that Max, Gillmore and Waller are all gonna go somewhere else and be decent?

You honestly think so? Cant see Barnett getting past NO at latest and Foster past Cinci. Id wager pretty darn good money neither falls to 16.

Would be a shame if Belichick used an Imperius Curse on Panthers GM Gettleman to make him sit out the draft, allowing life-sustaining prospects to fall to the Belichick. Would also be a shame if Belichick commanded Gettleman's last act to be to trade him #KONY2014 for a sandwich. Would be a shame is all...

He reminds me as a more raw Suggs. The fact he did not start playing until high school tells me he has room to grow still ,expecially in his knowledge fo the game, position and technique. Great round 2 selection if available, maybe a round 1 trade back.

Good for Jacoby! He'll always be one of my all-time favorite Ravens. Heck, he even got a lot of us to watch dancing!
  39. 3 points
Maybe he realizes that because of his injury history it won't be easy to find a new team despite being the leading TE and that he kinda owes the Ravens for keeping him on the team all that time (getting paid without contributing).

Elite guard prospect with room to develop into a RT. His problems in pass pro look fixable, he shows good back pedaling and he has a powerful punch when he engages, and when he gets hands on the rusher it's over. His issues come from his tendency to misfire on his backpedal and fall behind, and it's only an occasional thing, which leads me and other to think that good coaches getting him reps should fix that problem pretty easily. Aside from that, he's the most powerful drive blocker in the class, he fires out of his stance low and strikes upwards with his arms and drives from his hips, he packs a lot of power on his get-off and wins the snap immediately, getting his man off balance and following up by driving his man deep off the line. Theres good and bad with cam, the good should outweigh the bad by quite a bit assuming that he develops that consistency he's lacking in his footwork in pass pro. If he's a big dummy like Michael oher and can't progress at all then he is gonna be a liability at RT but should still make a hell of a guard.

This is a very confusing post. Are you saying we go after both Williams and ross? Cause that would never happen. Oh and Corey Davis is the best receiver in the draft. Not williams
  43. 3 points
This is pretty much the case. We've never struggled to find a competent ILB either already on the roster or later in FA. We could certainly use one but it's not a position I'm worried about.
  44. 3 points
I think the reason were not freaking out is because we always tend to find an undrafted guy or a guy nobody knows about and they end up playing at a very high level for us.

There is such an absence of quality coverage and analysis. Forget local coverage...Forget ESPN. Has anyone tried watching NFL network lately? Toe drag swag...? Top ten....... Programming for idiots. If it wasn't for "Path to the Draft ", combine coverage, etc., the NFL's network is unwatchable......precisely why this board is of value to the fan.

he did it before, remember when he had a historic run capped off with a super bowl mvp? remember his 2014 season when he actually had a respectable roster around him on offense and a NFL caliber OC? cleveland now has an elite OL, gary barnidge, a high ceiling deep threat with room to improve on his routes, a familiar coach, and boatload of high draft picks over the next 2 years. if cleveland had flacco next season they would do some damage, they have everything flacco does well with. sure, they have little on defense and could use a wr, but flacco has never needed an elite wr, just a good OL to do well.

stop spreading fake news and trying to reconstruct a false narrative - literally no one on this thread is saying that flacco played well enough and that he doesnt need to improve - this idea you're peddling that any fans who think positively about flacco are just sheep for the ownership's decisions is lamentable and frankly insulting - stop making lazy assumptions: most posters on this board criticised flacco mercilessly through the season as he was playing badly - to assume they are blindly supporting him now just because they defend him against the idea that he isn't a good qb is just unnecesary - the debate is about whether there were mitigating factors that might lead to improvement this coming season or whether (as some of the "haters" are suggesting) he's not a good qb anymore which i think is a ridiculous thing to say after only 2 years of bad football and 1 of those seasons coming off an injury - the idea that a qb is done and cannot do something he has already done before in the past is a ridiculous notion that certainly doesnt come from analysis of form, history or any other relevant factors - there is no logical reason to believe flacco would be "done" at this point which is why people so vehemently defend him against your narrative - i dont see how defending flacco against criticism that he might not be worthy of starting for the ravens anymore is unreasonable given he has done it for so many years with great success you can acknowledge he has not played well and still think he's a good qb the two are not mutual exclusive

The only redemption for this season is to have everyone die and the series be over....and I don't know if that will even be enough to redeem it.

Gilmore's a beast but he's been banged up and it hurt his playing time. Same for Maxx. The other young TEs, Waller and Boyle, were busy getting suspended. Who's to say they won't employ more multiple-TE sets? It would be a shame if they didn't, a waste of talent.
