How many would join if I create a message board/forum for us to migrate to?
  2. 35 points
Wow. Not happy. Will not be engaging on FB or any other platforms because it doesnt allow for actual discussion. Just one or two lines of unsubstantiated, emotional garbage or "hot takes." Plus, i dont want to be bombarded with advertising while discussing the Ravens... But, i guess you cant really advertise on here and capitalize on the "engagement" so why bother. Im being unreasonable, but i dont care.

Can someone tell the Ravens that cutting the costs of this board will not clear up any cap space?

Hello everyone, As most of you know, with our current home closing at the end of the month we've begun the process of creating and searching for a new spot. Thank you to those of you that have joined the new forum already. Great to see so many of you that love this community as much as I do. For those of you who haven't joined and want to, check out: http://baltimoreravens.boardhost.com/index.php But, with us being forced out of our comfort zone a lot of exciting ideas are flying fast and furious.... and a simple forum may not be able to house what we need, or provide all the features we've become used to. With that in mind, still don't hesitate to join what we have set up and start using it. But, with some of the great community members help, we're looking into upgrading to something better that will allow us to do some really neat things in addition to just chatting. It'll also give us the ability to scale as we grow bigger. We're grabbing some potential domain names now, but if anyone has some slick suggestions for what our new home could be called, feel free to post em and we'll start looking into availability of domains. So keep an eye out. We'll try to have everything settled and finalized before this closes down... but just in case make sure to get registered over at the current forum listed above. That way, at the very least we can all stay in touch while our ultimate, new swanky bachelor pad is being built. Awesome to see so many of us really invested in building something great. And build it we will. Thanks, Bold (remember to register at the existing new forum.... and let those Forum/Domain name suggestions fly; want to get something locked up)

That Flacco contract screwed us over. If only they done the 18 mil per year he wanted before the superbowl win we would still have our forum

I think it was that ray rayvens dude that shut t his place down. lol

Admittedly, I probably can't relate to rationale behind this decision as I'm likely ignorant as to what makes "this", go....but it strikes me as very, very, very lame. A board...THE board representing the Ravens is closing up shop because.......you can't keep up? Isn't worth the effort? Who exactly makes this decision....anyone know ? You can keep Facebook, etc

We lost Zach Orr to an injury retirement and he was our leading tackler. There's a reason Ray Lewis wanted a big body up front to keep him clean in Haloti Ngata. CJ Mosley will benefit from this move, and it is true that Williams must also step up as well. Moving Correa inside means you absolutely have to keep that guy clean because he cannot disengage off of blocks, and having a massive body in Williams and a back-up in Pierce means you can rotate and keep them fresh. I see this as a move that impacts various levels of the defense.

So if we don't resign him people on here will complain that we keep letting our home grown talent players walk.... We resign him and people are going to complain we paid too much How many people on here have been complaining we let ko walk? I bet it's the same People complaining about this deal

Honestly these forums are the only viable way to talk about football. Social media is a hellhole.

Three years of inconsistency even with playing next to a NT like Brandon Williams. Good player but not sure if he's irreplaceable .

Not to be rude, but whomever decided that FB and Twitter were better vessels for fans to connect, needs to have their head examined. I come here for quality football talk and I will certainly not get it anywhere else because I DONT HAVE A FREAKING SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT. I can't wait to have out quality community here battle with twitter trolls and give up on team social media.

If the higher-ups are curious as to why Facebook and Twitter aren't adequate options for intelligent discussion, here's your case in point.

Ever think that maybe the drop off in posting traffic over the last few years has been correlating to the steady decline of the team? There is a reason that there is only a small portion of the posters still active- because they are the die hard fans and will stick with the franchise no matter what. I think it speaks volumes about where this team is at now, that they would punish the core of the fan base - not to mention keep away a venue for newer fans to congregate online. I would say I'm surprised, but then again, this is the same franchise that traded away annual Bolden so we could get Marcus spears and Michael huff, so I guess I really shouldnt be surprised at all. Bad, bad move.

"However, we look to utilize our time and resources to focus on how we can best connect with our fans across an array of digital/social outlets." That's not an acceptable reason to closing the boards.

Shout out to my boy flynismo, also grimcoconut, tank 92, berad, purock, 1/28/01, mom gene, purplenurple, and even the raven for all the arguments its been a great decade. Salute, mi familia. It's never goodbye

Ravens fans work productivity about to increase +35%. It was probably everyones bosses emailing the forums telling them to shut the boards downs. Twas us who killed it...
  29. 5 points
My confusion on the shut down stems from the replacement. Over the years, I have gotten the chance to meet some really cool feel fans on this forum and I definitely wouldn't have been able to do that on social media. Plus, where the heck else am I supposed to post my mock drafts that no one reads anyway?

FACT. I don't have a twidder account nor do I want one. I am following the RAVENS FB page, but that is far far far far from any sort of "community" in any true sense. Not to mention the format is not conducive to continuing dialog. This discontinuation is just a bad bad idea. It is like chopping off two fingers because the others are working "just fine" . FB has its place and its people. Twidder has its place and its people. Message boards, same thing. Some means work better with some and not so much for others. All are very unique in their own way. The discontinuation of these boards is completely and totally alienating a segment of the fan base. In my opinion it is inexcusable.

not to be a downer coz i love brandon and im glad he's back but that contract is stupidly insane - nearly 11mill for a run stuffing nose tackle with more than half guaranteed...

Just wow !! A team/organization that can waste multi millions on talent that should not be on any pro team refuses to spend what about $300.00 a year on a forum for the Fans. What a class act. Charge more and more to see the team that produces less and less on the field year after year for a few years now and cannot even leave us this for free.

So I get my little Ravens news alert on my phone ... all excited like ... we're we able to sign Williams? Finalized the deal for Jefferson? Found some help for a mediocre o line that's been further depleted? Nope - this is what we get instead.

You act like we aren't doing anything because we haven't got the player that YOU want FA literally has just started....
  36. 5 points
At least it was on the road, we over achieved, and were basically starting a practice squad secondary at that point, and the patriots had the deceptive substitution BS in that game too. Falcons blown lead was way worse.
  37. 5 points
Ah. Your true colors. The actual reason is because idiots like you flooded the damn thing with your constant negativity, and your "I know everything so screw off" attitude. You literally turned every thread into a Flacco thread. That's YOUR fault. And the countless insults you threw at people is honestly sad. Teenagers post on this damn forum and you try and tear them apart. You're pathetic. It shows the kind of boy you are. Good riddance.

I joined this site in 2008 when I was deployed and the ravens were on their way to the playoffs. I literally lived in this forum in my downtime and I learned A TON about the game of football as broken down by our members. I feel it's a real mistake to move away from this as BR.com is looked at by all Ravens fans. I don't have social media accounts so I guess the terribly written articles at NFL.com will be my comfort now I remember this forum being much more active than now. However there is still a lot of activity here. I seriously hope the powers that be will reconsider..... if if anyone decides to make a Flock 2.0 board. I'll happily join and support in any manner I can

Yeah, let's be clear, we're not taking an OL with the 16th pick. Period. Either we trade back and consider it a possibility, either we take some later believing we can groom them even without Castillo. If we're picking an OL in the second, Elflein is my absolute favourite. He's refined, versatile and has it between the ears. Day 1 starter, whatever happens with the other OLinemen. Trading back is still an option because you can get a top12 player while gaining a 3rd or 4th (picks that Ozzie usually nails), and this class is one of the best in recent memory, so there's really a ton of plausible strategies.

What was the setting of the video referenced on AL.com? Was this a TMZ type video that was trying to catch him in an informal setting.... possibly being a little invasive, or was this a set up and agreed to interview? Makes a big difference. I dont know which it was, but am not assuming anything without those details. I dont know what's wrong with the second quote. Seems like you're inferring something or placing some sort of connotation around him using verbiage like "chilling with my people." He's just saying he's trying to stay out of the spot light. Laying low to let it blow over. And then confirms with confidence that when he gets his chance to prove that this was all nothing -- he's going to. If that's his focus, and all his focus, good. It should be. And he said teammates were with him. Not which teammates, or that all could. I know DL and LB's were the same day, which means Ryan Anderson and Dalvin Tomlinson could have also been present and maybe who he was referring to. Plus, with the negative press this situation was getting - i doubt 2 highly touted prospects are going to want to put their own name out there and make light of the situation or blame the hospital worker, because of how it might effect the perception of them.... regardless of what they actually saw or heard. Bottom line - not making excuses for the kid, but he is a kid. One that some team is going to make a big investment in for sure, but i dont think this is really that big a red flag. We dont know the story -- ive heard several accounts that the hospital worker was equally, if not more, out of line. He has taken ownership of the situation, and the people that matter (scouts, GM's, FO personnel) know the facts and have dealt with Foster much more than any of us. And certainly know a lot more than you can glean from reading into a couple of press snippets without context. I have no problem taking him at #16. There's nothing that would even give me pause. Ive seen him play. And if Oz and Co take him, im excited bc i know they did their due diligence and arent worried either. Thats more than enough for me. And it shouldnt give anyone pause if they do draft him. Because again, they know more than you and have all the facts.

Who cares what it is that he took. The results are the same. C'mon man! You miss a significant part of your rookie season with injury and now this? Let's take one of the few bright spots on the team at the end of last year and turn them into something negative. Just crap.
