Wallace and I'm not thinking too hard about it. I got a lot of love for what Torrey has done here but I think Wallace can do a bit more than him.

In one sentence please explain how you came up with this? Just one sentence please. I don't want to overtax my brain.

Again, it would be incredibly stupid to cut Wallace, let alone for Torrey Smith. Please no!!!

Julius Peppers was a beast, but something is telling me he wont be available. I like Kupp a lot, but very weary of Watt.

Saves us $4.9M in cap space. Wonder if we are making one final push to keep one of Wagner/Williams.

Right? I guess people don't really understand what they are saying. That's like any working individual doing a phenomenal job at their occupation and when it's time for a pay raise they decline that opportunity...all because they want to be "loyal" to their bosses. These guys have the opportunity to make a significant sum of money in a short amount of time...why not try to get every penny you can. I guarantee almost every fan on this website would do the same. Its not being selfish, its being smart. Money talks, loyalty only goes so far. I find it humorous when fans say, "well it's only a million dollars..." Yeah, only a million...

not sure i trust decosta as much any longer because he has been a top aide to oz when these crappy picks have been made early in the draft.

For me as a fan, it has become hard to determine just who or what I am cheering for. Is it the team or the bird on the side of the helmet? How am I to have allegiance for the players if they are always looking to see if the grass is greener on some other team. They deserve to get paid but the big money is ruining football for me. I enjoy watching the young players develop until their rookie contract is up, then they are gone from the team. And, getting a 3rd round comp pick for KO is just wrong. Teams that take a pro-bowl caliber players from another team should be forced to give up their first round pick to the team they stole from. Maybe that will stop the insanity. I have seen a lot of changes in football in my 60 years but for me, free agency is ruining what it means to be a "fan".

You knew it was game over with Williams and Wagner when the Ravens announced they had made their patented "highly competitive" offer.
  12. 3 points
If Wagner is looking for 9 or 10 miillion a year then I understand why The Ravens don't want to match that.
  13. 3 points
It's been stated numerous times that the Ravens are NOT viewing Alex Lewis as a T, but strictly a G. Still seeing a lot of assumptions that they'll just kick him outside and we can focus on G instead.

    Invalid, spelling of invalid.

Can someone explain me, why the obvious salary cap casualties still remaining with the team?????... confusing
  16. 3 points
I know the Ravens don't usually make that kind of move, but Cooks is 23. He's still damn near a rookie and you know what you're getting. No idea if we'd be creative enough with him though. ... Permian and Pryor outside with Cooks in the slot? 🌾👀🌿 ...not a chance in hell it happens.

Although I don't hate the guy, this is honestly an extremely true statement. He's not respected at all outside of our fanbase.

Flacco has a better playoff record no doubt but Collins went to the playoffs 3 times as a starter and they've been to the same number of Super Bowls. Collins just ran into the best defense of all time in his. Collins and Flacco's physical skill set is quite similar and they both relied on equally complimentary run/pass games to be successful. They just played in vastly different eras for QBs. Essentially what I was trying to get at with my original post is that Flacco will never be a top 5 QB and people need to accept that. People also need to accept that he's not bottom 5 and that you can win with him. Just the FO has to be more deliberate in what it does to a roster to make him successful.

Mathieu proved in college that he was a top defender in the best conference (at least at the time). Peppers has no ball skills and lacks awareness in coverage.

I keep checking into BR.com to see what players were let go or picked up. But every time i check in it's just more speculation and rumors. When do the real moves start happening? Lol

To be honest, I've never understood this whole "hometown discount" idea. For what does it even mean? "You've done a great job for us, we'r really delighted with your performance - so, we're honouring and acknowledging it by offering you less than your market value and hope you'll take it." And people get mad when the player says no thank you...

I agree, but when teams like the Raiders give up a bunch of money for a LG, that will eventually come back to haunt them when they need to pay a QB that will want top dollar and a OLB that will be the highest paid in the league. Its hard to feed so many mouths that want a lot of money when there is a cap space. I do agree though, it hurts losing players like McPhee, K.O., Art Jones, Torrey, etc.
  26. 2 points
i agree it would make for a nice gesture and show how much he wants another ring by taking a pay cut but i will not hold my breath on that happening

nfl.com has an article on wagner saying he will be the prize RT on the market and will get more than 8 million per season so see u later wagner. there will be some vets we can sign and plug in there unless we have someone in house that may be ready for a shot. maybe we sign guard dj fluker and bump lewis outside. i could care less if we lose juice. we do not utilize him properly plus his blocking has not impressed me on short yardage. he is no vonta leach. b williams sets the tone for our lb's to have clear lanes to the rb's so he should be the priority but i fear his cost will make me sick to my stomach
  28. 2 points
I hope when DeCosta takes over next year he cleans house. The ravens will try to bandaid this team but in the end 5-11 or 4-12 next year. Team lacks Playmakers and we aren't buying any so this team looks bad next year. I use to be a Flacco supporter but he is killing the team with his cap number.
  29. 2 points
If the Ravens are in the troubling cap situation that they're in at the moment, then they really should pay close attention to value. What's hurting them right now is bad deals for guys who are not playing up to their deals.

Ya'll disliked my post! I just asked a question! Lol
  31. 2 points
All three are likely gone, at least we'll get decent compensatory picks for them next year.
  32. 2 points
Hometown discounts only happen with veterans past their prime. Expecting them to not make as much money as they can during their short careers is foolish.
  33. 2 points
He has a lot more talent than Hurst though. I'm not saying he'll be a starter, but he was a better right tackle than guard and could be brought in pretty cheap.
  34. 2 points
need a receivers coach that will get these guys to run crisp routes and improve their overall technique. the team needs to start developing its own receivers instead of leaning on cap casualties or trades
  35. 2 points
Who say's you couldn't have Wallace, Smith and, Perriman? They could use one of the TE's in the slot since they can't block?
  36. 2 points
Lmao. No he doesn't. He and Joe did not have the best chemistry. Honestly, Wallace and Joe have better chemistry. I hope we don't take Smith back.
  37. 2 points
Do you realize that if the Ravens traded Flacco it would result in a 47 million dollar cap hit? Do you know what that would do to the team's roster?

this kind of reactive thinking is what kills a team. Don't you think the Patriots fans were saying the same thing when the drafted Jimmy G in the second round? The Ravens need to be pro active and draft with a eye on the future. The Pats drafted Jimmy G in the back of the second round (pick 62) and now are going to get a first rounder in return from some poor desperate team. On top of all that are you really comfortable putting the weight of the season on Flacco who turns 33 this year, plays behind a less than ideal line , and has had major knee surgery ? I don't want to repeat 2015 watching Schaub and Clausen waste a season

I went into the combine not knowing much about Peppers, Reddick and Humphrey and came away very impressed with each one of those. Reddick to me is going to be a stud LBer with the ability to do damage like Elvis Dumervil but also be great in coverage. He can be a 3 down OLB for us. Humphrey to me is really smooth and fluid and has the ability to play inside and out. Peppers is the X Factor man. He's just a total football player like Weddle. He's going to be an absolute star in the league and I now have no issues if the Ravens went with him at 16 providing of course Charles Harris, Reuben Foster and Mike Williams are all gone. The other guy that really impressed me was Christian McCaffery. He is another great ball player like Peppers on offense. I wouldn't mind taking him by trading a few spots down and adding a couple of picks. This draft is so dang deep, it may be the best play.

As far as Williams and Wagner are concerned, I've felt like we'd keep one but not both. However, I have to remind myself that the best approach is to just assume we're going to lose every mid to high profile FA and then be pleasantly surprised if we get to keep anyone.

I like Marshall better then Garcon. I think he is more of the protypical Ravens move. Mason, Boldin, SSS these were splash guys at the end of their careers who made a great impact for us. I see Marshall more along the same lines that Garcon and would rather see us land him but I also like Garcon. Just think Marshall is that more sure handed, chain moving WR that we are looking for.

so from today so far, i never thought the combine would affect the way i feel about some of these dbs so much, not just how fast they run but the running styles as well, i cant wait for this last group to go through the drills to see them flip their hips, conley is a big winner today, melifonwu and moreau as well, lattimore and jones i think have confirmed their spots for me also
  45. 2 points
You just proved my point with your own silly argument. With sub standard players at certain positions we were a divisional round team because you can scheme around weakness. You can't scheme around a bad Qb. You complain about 2014?? Take a look at 2015.... we need an insurance policy more
  46. 2 points
it would be the best move tbh. unless derek barnett falls to 16 i think trade back should be our top priority. we can move back to the mid 20s to pick up a 2nd, and we can still land one of charles harris, tim williams, haason reddick, tj watt, or a cb like tre white or possibly even sidney jones or quincy wilson, and if were feeling like manly men we can take dan feeney and really bring a boost to our run game. no matter how we look at it, we could trade back to the mid or even late 20s and still get a guy at a position of need that would be going top 20 in most draft classes and pick up another 2nd rounder and maybe even a 3rd if team is desperate. a trade back could completely turn the franchise around.
  47. 2 points
The Patriots offered their first round pick for Cooks and it was rebuffed. NO wants a mid first rounder. Won't be a Raven.

Having foster and Mosley would be insane. We would have best ILB duo hands down
  49. 2 points
The fans would go on a riot and demand Elway to be fired if they brang in Joe Flacco w/ the current contract. You really have a pretty closed minded perception how much of a laughing stock Joe is outside RavensNation.

I have to agree. Even if he's older, Wallace seems to do better against press coverage and just seems to get open easier. I wouldn't be against Torrey plus another receiver for the price Wallace is going to get, but if it's just between the two it has to be Wallace.
