A certain WR in New York just got released...... Ozzie you know what to do next.

In one sentence please explain how you came up with this? Just one sentence please. I don't want to overtax my brain.

Jesus. I just busted out laughing in my office during a meeting when I read this. Clearly, this meeting is less important than a Flacco thread. The F18s will still be there.

I love when a front seven guy runs a slow 40 and everyone jumps on their case. If your DE is running 40 yards on the field I got bad news for ya..

For those who think Flacco's 4-game run through the Super Bowl in '12 was a postseason "anomaly", consider these stats: in the playoff years of '10, '11, and '14, in 6 total games (5 were away) the Ravens were 3-3, winning at least 1 game per year; Flacco in those 6 games threw 13 TDs and 4 INTs (that's 24 TDs and 4 INTs in 10 postseason games since 2010); Flacco's QB ratings during those 6 games were 115.4, 61.1, 97.1, 95.4, 114.0, and 92.1; and the Ravens scored 25.9 points/game. Remember the perfect pass to Lee Evans in the end zone at New England in '11 in which Evans couldn't hold on, or Cundiff's blown field goal in the same game, preventing the Ravens from playing in the Super Bowl that year?

B marsh released maybe he actually ends up a raven? I can't see us not pursuing him pretty hard, cut players don't cost comp picks.

So the only reason he beat you is that he offered more stars.

So, DeCosta mentions Tim Williams and Charles Harris in his first combine interview. What does that really mean?

That place is a very dark place during the offseason.

Just read this: John Harbaugh: "Ravens will contend for a title because of Joe Flacco". OMG, I haven't laughed so hard in a really long while. Oh jeeh, that's good stuff. If anything, we'll contend for a title IN SPITE of Joe Flacco. This was really just too much.
  19. 3 points
Seriously. I literally don't want to hear him speak until February, 2018
  20. 2 points
Then don't. There's a decent chance he's there at our 2nd. The only problem I have with him is his core strength isnt very good which is common for taller guys. Other than that he'd be an extremely good player in baltimore. Much better version of Paul Kruger and even Jarret Johnson

Yes, Domestic Violence is actually worse than all of those things. I assumed that was common sense no? I would also point out, obviously, that most of the players you listed were already on the Ravens (or off the Ravens) by the time those transgressions took place. Our stance is not to bring in players who have a history of DV in their background. That's not to say that we wouldn't draft or sign somebody who eventually turns into a wife beater, because we would have no possible way of knowing that (see Rice, Ray). You're confusing the two things. They're not the same. I will try to help you understand. So lets use reason and logic. For instance the same year Ray Rice was arrested for aggravated assault, on his soon to be wife, 9,865 people were killed in traffic accidents involving alcohol alone. Roughly 40% of all US traffic deaths that year. From 2001-2012 and estimated 11,800(nearly 11,000 of those deaths were women) people were killed involving domestic abuse. Please don't be a sheep , facts> popular ideas ""I would also point out, obviously, that most of the players you listed were already on the Ravens (or off the Ravens) by the time those transgressions took place."" Exactly hence the hypocrisy , they kept almost every single player I listed that still had star potential in them. Just like they tried to keep Ray Rice, until the couldn't stop the second video from coming out......

It will be interesting if we do end up going after him. If he does sign here, I imagine that would be a major question at the introductory press conference.

Not that digging deeper is helping, but I'll shoot. How does your "6" key stick when up to that point you hadn't used it once in that post?

Just a guess, but I bet whoever came up with that figure used the NT franchise tag number which just happens to be $13 mil..

I could see us getting Marshall and/or Mangold, but not Gilmore. Tbh I only see us getting one of the three tops

Harbaugh seriously needs to get off the Flacco is the greatest QB since Montana boat. He sucks up to him enough during the season. Now, its time to just shut up and not try to use 'reverse psychology' on Flacco. That is childish John. Even Flacco doesn't believe what you say in his heart.

The thing about it is don't blame Joe for his contract blame the front office. Joe could've accepted less that he was offered. Joe was probably flattered that they gave him more than he wanted. I agree- it is the front office's fault for Joe's ridiculous contract. They got completely caught up in SB euphoria and handed a ridiculous amount of cash over to Joe. That's just one part of the problem since 2012. I mean for several years we managed to keep guys like R. Lewis, Ogden, Suggs, Ed Reed, Ngata and several other Pro Bowl calibre players past their rookie contract. Now, thanks in large part to dumb decisions like overpaying Flacco and aging/injured veterans, we are unable to keep any of our young talent past their rookie contract. Especially with Suggs and Yanda entering their twilight years, it is pretty difficult to imagine many scenarios where the Ravens can finish much better than 8-8, at least not for the next few years.

I have never questioned the effort of this team since 2012 regardless of our record. I feel the Ravens always come out and play hard, always. I think any fan can see that. We just haven't had the talent we needed... agree

Wallace is our only consistently good receiver, so him staying should be a no-brainer.
  35. 2 points
Considering Wallace is our ONLY proven WR on the roster I hope we keep him. On another note, Williams and Wagner will go to whatever team offers the most money. That's easy to figure out. Translated.....both will be gone.
  36. 2 points
The disappointment will be palpable when we just re-sign a few of our own guys, probably lose one of either Wagner or Williams, and sit back and basically do nothing in FA because we don't have the cap room. Maybe 1 Ben Watson type of signing on a low cost vet. Seriously don't get your hopes up for much this year, I don't see us adding anyone significant from the UFA pool like we did last year.

Last year Mangold played with left guard James Carpenter(former first rounder) and right guard Brian Winter(former third rounder) who just got a contract extension for playing well . Neither of those guys are Marshal Yanda but from what I have gathered they aren't terrible either. Winter was bad in 2014 and 2015 but his play was better in 2016 but Mangold has not always played with other great offensive linemen . This is the same guy who has been a top center in The NFl while playing with average starters like Vlad Ducasse , Willie Colon ,and etc. I can understand injuries but beings surrounded by talent hasn't been the reason for his success in the past so why would it be now? . Jeremy Zuttah had his worst season last year as a Raven and for most of the season played through injuries but I don't know why he doesn't get a pass for that . Blocking scheme wise I don't know The Ravens direction with that . They hired a offensive line coach that has experience with teaching the zone blocking scheme and Marty M likes that scheme . Greg Roman himself has experience using it especially when he had Lesean McCoy as his starting running back when he was The Bills offensive coordinator. Mangold is 33 years old and I have no clue on how good he is even if healthy but I hope Ravens fans aren't showing interest in this guy because of name alone.

I honestly don' think that's a huge problem for him. Even the best Centers get overpowered by big NTs from time to time, but as a former wrestler, he uses his hands and leverage very well. Won't act as if i've seen every snap, but I've never seen him get overpowered or play off balance which is usually things that show up when you're playing with high pad level. The 22 reps don't "look good" but the bench doesn't always show how strong a guy is. Again he plays with really good leverage and balance which adds to his strength. Also he has a chance to improve that number at his pro-day. He had a really good day imo, but i also caution against expecting a prospect to be flawless. Everyone will have something to improve upon and by all reports i've seen he's a hard worker who craves coaching. I think he's a day 1 starter and could really help the Ravens, but we'll see.

It is absolutely true that Takk has to develope some counter and disengaging moves but I see him as a very high floor guy and imagine he will be a far more finished product in 1-2 years. That's really a guy I can hardly see bust. I also agree on the relevance of medical evaluations effecting Lawson's stock. I don't think he'll get to the second tho. Dominique Easley, coming off a senior season ACL (the second) injury, was still picked at the bottom of the first. The way he accelerates, locks his hips, flatters and maintains leverage on the outside; his ability to convert speed to power and use it wisely on Ts pads are rare. It can happen but on the second he would be a tremendous steal.

The thing about it is don't blame Joe for his contract blame the front office. Joe could've accepted less that he was offered. Joe was probably flattered that they gave him more than he wanted. When? In 2012? Because Flacco would have been paid the same amount by somebody else. We would have been left looking for a QB again. Have you people not seen the going rate for QBs now? If you look at Flaccos track record, especially in the post season, he deserves to get paid, and he would have. By us or by someone else. That's what you have to do if you want a franchise QB.

Remember time we had two 14 point leads in NE in 2014? Yeah Flacco played pretty well that game. I honestly believe if we didn't have injuries that year we could have went to the super bowl. Our secondary was AWFUL.

I'd rather stick with Webb for another year, add young guy like Jordan Poyer who could be the 3rd safety and compete to push Webb and also draft a guy like Lorenzo Jerome on day 3.

Adding Korver, Williams, and Now Bogut should honestly put them over the top. That team is stacked. Even if KD is healthy I'm with you.
