I don't think he's underachieved, so much has been expected of him but he's played in a dreadful offense. Everyone is talking up Pierre Garcon but let's comparing him side by side to Britt, I don't think he's been all that much better. Pierre Garcon G GS Rec Yds Avg Lng TD Att Yds Avg Lng TD 2016 Washington Redskins 16 16 79 1,041 13.2 70T 3TD 2015 Washington Redskins 16 16 72 777 10.8 39T 6TD 2014 Washington Redskins 16 14 68 752 11.1 70T 3TD Kenny Britt SeasonTeamReceivingRushingFumbles G GS RecYds Avg LngTD AttYds AvgLng TD FUM Lost 2016 Los Angeles Rams 15 15 68 1,002 14.7 66 5TDs 2015 St. Louis Rams 1614 36 681 18.9 60T 3TDs 2014 St. Louis Rams 16 13 48 748 15.6 63T 3TDs Like I said before, Garcon played in an offense that was up there with some of the passing offenses in the league and ranked 2nd in the league and 3rd overall offensively. Comparitevly Britt played in an offense that ranked as the 31st ranked passing attack and 32nd ranked offense as a hole. I'll also keep in mind that Kirk Cousins is light years better than anyone the Rams have. I like Garcon, but it's like if Julian Edelman were to come here from New England, that's nice but is he going to be better here than what he was with New England? I could certainly say that in our case, we would get a much better Kenny Britt from LA coming here and that's taking into account his impressive season.

Again, not majorly improving our pass rush and secondary with so much talent available this year is mind boggling to me. You haven't addressed it via FA either, since top FA corner is out of reach with Ravens miserable cap space. I hate this mock.

I think Micah Hyde would be a great addition to this team. He can play outside, slot, and both safety positions which would let the Ravens be more creative on the defensive side. To me, he is like a very poor man's Tyrann Mathieu. Also, with the amount of injuries we have at DB, his versatility would help soften the blow if/ when one of our guys go down.
  7. 4 points
Well, we actually watch him play unlike many others. Also plenty of analysts who actually know football, like former qbs Jaworski and esiason and Phil Simms, former qb coaches like mooch, and other respected analysts like Chris berman, all like flacco quite a bit and understand when his team lets his down, which happens far more often than the inverse.
  8. 4 points
Agreed. While I think the drop off from the top 2 to the 2nd tier is pretty steep, the 2nd tier of safeties is still better than the top of most classes. Baker melifonwu and peppers are all probably labeled first rounders in the AVERAGE safety class
  9. 4 points
I've got another great idea. How about we draft somebody with our #2 and #3 picks who can actually play.

Wow, we typically have people drop out, but this seems to be excessive, especially this early in the game.
  12. 3 points
    lol this is ridiculous
  13. 3 points
Yeah, I love Jamal, but this is the draft that you want to have as many selections as possible. I'm not seeing a big enough drop off in talent that would make trading up anywhere near sacrificing the picks needed to do so.

That's a fair point. Ryan was probably on board with being aggressive - maybe even encouraged in as Joe has done in the past - but when he got that pressure up that middle, he panicked, ran the wrong way, and held the ball longer than he should. Then the series of plays that pushed them out of FG range where he can be heard mic'd up saying 'What the [Falcon], guys, did you hold?' as they shot themselves in the foot again. Can't really blame him for the sack-fumble. His RB whiffed and Ryan didn't even see the guy.

i don't like him that much for us though - so i hope he gets himself into the top 15 or something and someone else takes him so someone better drops

Unfortunately you can't just "trade a few low round draft choices" to move up. It takes a lot more than that to move up 16 spots. First you want to get rid of all the tight ends so we can draft one in the first, and now you want trade all of our picks away until we only have four left? We wouldn't have enough players to make 53 if you were pulling the strings my friend. Im not trying to give you a hard time because I know youre new to this. Im just trying to reel you back down to reality a bit. But quality depth is extremely important especially because our guys have trouble staying healthy and thats what the later rounds are for (every once in while you find a quality starter down their too) But it isnt out of the question to move up once in the first three rounds (possibly more depending how many spots we have jumped). But its a long season, and we have a lot of spots to fill/upgrade. We need all the help we can get.

I'm skeptical of this report. That said, if it's true, good thing they didn't. That Flacco/Rice 1-2 pick was easily one of the most important pair of draft selections in Ravens history, maybe THE most important outside of Lewis/Ogden.
  21. 2 points
    We're on the same page.
  22. 2 points
As much as I hate it, I must agree with you. I don't think he's going to slip past the top 6-8 picks.

DeDe Westbrook has two DV arrests, that kind of rap sheet won't fly with our FO. Some good players in this mock but not having a new CB or pass rusher after first two rounds? Not going to happen.
  24. 2 points
"The Ravens haven’t drafted a cornerback in the first three rounds since they made Jimmy Smith their top pick in 2011." ... that fact alone begs us to pick a CB high. I originally felt that we needed to make that our #1 but the more I think about it, it really doesn't have to be. Bottom line is we need an absolute difference making player and .. other than TE, ILB and QB ... I really don't know that I care what position that is. If there is an early run on CBs and a jaw-dropping talent like either Williams or Cooks are there ... then take them. O line ... yes, we have needs but the draft doesn't look to be stellar at this position at the top. I prefer that we keep Wagner, if at all possible, and bring in an upgrade for Zuttah in FA and draft mid-round depth.
  25. 2 points
with the needs we have, i highly doubt that ozzie will pick a RB in 1st rnd, it will be tempting to pass on a players like WR williams or Davis, but we need help at OL, Pass rush, CBs positions, more than any other position, the more QBs get picked head of us the better chances we pick a plug n play player.

only if the price is right I mean what games did some of you guys watch for Christ sake this guy is good But NOT Great and should make nowhere close to 10 mill a year and with we overpay him we will be set back again I would rather have a top CB or Receiver I watched every game, no one played as well as Willams. Sure The Ravens young guys did a good job, however big guys cannot play all the downs no matter who they are. So your point is you would rather give up first downs, control of the ball and possibly multiple scores. No one is arguing getting a CB, It can be done but lets stay in contention. Williams shut down run games, he has the capability of playing some pass however its not his best suit. The Ravens have no veteran DL if Williams goes. I believe he is an anchor of the team. He is a leader on and off the field. I would give up Zuttah and Dumervil for Williams any day of the week. I would risk a Rookie Center or developing a replacement, than a weakened DL. The LB crew will be fine without Doom. As far as a WR, the Ravens can afford one with the loss of SSr. I argue that the Ravens have the space to keep Williams. If you are saying you don't want him, that is just something that we disagree on.

Although he, Dixon and Tavon Young all had very promising rookie seasons, there are countless examples why we should all wait until they have their sophomore seasons under their belt. Just look at ZaDarius Smith, who, after a very good rookie season, had a rather pedestrian sophomore season. Which is the real Z? We'll see... Let's hope that all of the three aforementioned rookies turn out to be the real deals - but let's not just take it for granted now.

Ryan was done his drop, saw the pressure, ran right, out-ran his blocker, the rusher shed and got him. He did have that split-second to decide to throw it, throw it away, and/or climb the pocket to escape

have to agree with you. they are the best. seems they become even better when fingers are pointed towards them or accused of wrong doing. they have a blueprint and have stuck to it. ravens need to decide what type of team they want to be and stick with that philosophy agreed. Brady is now the best. Might've been before this too. I give a little bit more credit to Bellicheck though. He's outrageous. Their defense never gets credit until there's only a couple teams left, and O look, the pats d is number 1 or 2 all the sudden. How much they score without ever getting Brady playmakers. Aside from Gronk. Outrageous. I almost stopped myself from typing it cuz I don't even want to imagine it, but can you imagine if AP went there this summer? I'm just going to hope/assume the football gods aren't that evil. I doubt they will, and don't know if it would be worth it to trade up, but Fournette and Defense sound like a nice Identity. I like Flacco's play action, esp. coming off a fake to Fournette. You're right, they need to pick something and stick to it

Before dipping into FA for (a) pass rusher(s), fix the secondary. IMHO that will greatly improve the pass rush. Plus last draft, they went pass rusher crazy instead of secondary and look what happened. If they draft a lot of pass rushers again then we know their thoughts on last years pas rushers..

I would have liked to see the Ravens give up the draft to get Julio Jones for Flacco to grow with and develop together. The Falcons gave up some stuff to get Julio and I would say it was definitely worth it for both him and Ryan.

If common sense will said sign Wagner and let Brandon walk due to the depth in defensive linemen and lack of depth at OL. However based on what we are hearing from HO and rumors, the team priority is Brandon over Wagner.
  35. 1 point
I'd prefer to keep both but if that's the case then we've got no less than 3 guys who can easily fill in for Williams if he's gone.
  36. 1 point
As far as the secondary is concerned, Elam and Shareece Wright need to be gone IMO. Tavon Young has shown me he can play at a good level but the former 2 were huge liabilities in the backfield.

"These picks are not based on rumors or reports about teams being interested in the pending free agents, but rather just who PFF thinks makes sense." ... and this is what makes them utterly irrelevant.

Webb should not be released unless a better option is signed! Redoing his and Wallace deals could free up 5-6 mil in cap space for 2017. Same with zuttah, if we have an upgrade then great. If not then keep your pro bowler on a cheap contract. everyone else on that list is as good as gone. Also add Watson to the list and that's 35 million in free cap to work with. in Ozzie I trust
  39. 1 point
I think Dum, Webb, Pitta and Wallace will be back with reduce price, minimun impact on the cap space. Then the rest of the people on the list will be release. With that we can still have over $30 Mil on cap space to sign Brandon, Juice and maybe Wagner. I honestly believe Wagner is gone. With that money will sign Garcon and a CB. With the first 4 picks through rd 3,we can select a pass rusher, CB, center, guard/ tackle. If we get a guard then Alex Lewis will play RT. It think we will be a better team next year. Ozzie and co have a lot of work to do this off-season. This is a very crucial off season.

Maybe he's cheaper because he's not as good. As far as I'm concerned, I'd like to improve the WR position. Legitimately improve it. You don't do that by holding on to guys. And as rmw already said, Kamar is packing his bags to go elsewhere.

just because he doesn't think westbrook isn't a perfect talent doesn't mean he doesn't like his skillset, it just means he's not the perfect prospect - critiques are inherent in the process of evaluating players otherwise everyone would just be guessing - and there are many other productive players than dede westbrook who don't have a history of domestic violence charges - and likewise you have to look at the specifics of every single case and the specifics of westbrook's charges are suspicious to say the least given their manner and the reasons for them being dropped etc. - im not dismissing him completely because you're right i dont have all the facts, but the ravens will (and if they don't they won't draft him) but given i think dorial green beckham was off our board i think westbrook is guaranteed to be off our board whereas someone like ryan anderson who was also charged with domestic violence, if you look at the specifics of the case i would suggest he'd probably still be on our board despite the DV charge in terms of listing players with no history of red flags who then do stuff, no team has a crystal ball, you can only draft what someone has shown - if someone is a headcase then that might show up in interviews etc. but you don't really have any idea if anyone is going to do something they / your team will regret so there's no point listing them because they have no baring on the draft process because you can't know any of these things without hindsight and there is something to be said for "double jeopardy" given the role model status / omnipresence of the public eye in high profile sports - players have to be held to a higher standard because they are highly visible and set an example... the nfl must as far as possible be seen to be moral or it will eventually lose the support of fans and there very much is a difference between being proven innocent and having the "matter" dropped - in the second case you have to look deeper into the situation because of the US's historically terrible record in court on domestic and/or sexual violence the link doesn't really prove your point at all either... only 3 of those 7 players have done anything, 1 of them didn't get drafted, 1 of them has been a perennial practice squad player, 1 has already shipped team once and then got lost on the depth chart, 1 has been suspended twice already in his short career and showed up to training camp overweight and been released - of the other 3, marcus peters and jameis winston were both picked before our 1st pick so we had no chance to take them and particularly with peters his issues definitely seemed unimportant to all teams (there's a difference between immaturity and legal trouble), frank clark is the only real outlier on that list... and he was seen as a mid rounder at the time anyway who seattle took at the end of the 2nd - so that link really doesn't help your point
  45. 1 point
I think we can nab Pocic or Elfein in the 2nd or Orlovsky in the third and be set at C for years. Let Wagner walk, slide Lewis out, and backfill inside with a 4th-rounder, Hurst, Urschel, Jensen, or one of the talented dudes Ozzie stashed on the IR (Wesley and Nembot). I'm really not that worried about the line, so long as they are coached up and the scheme fits.
  46. 1 point
i want to add that having a guy like williams makes it possible for orr and mosley to make tackles at the line of scrimmage because they go unblocked due to williams solid play that demands double teams
  47. 1 point
yes, Pierce is a better pass rusher but theyr are both extreemly limited pass rushers as Pierce had 2 total sacks all year. It's not their job or really a knock on them if they don't get 10 sacks a year. Heck if Williams ever did get close to 10 sacks he'd ask for Suh money lol

If you are saying you don't want him, that is just something that we disagree on. I agree 100%. And getting a "top CB or WR" means $12 million+. Garcon wants $9 million & Brandon Marshall (if cut) wants $12 million. That's a lot of cash to pay for an old WR. CB Stephon Gilmore wants $14 million. Cutting Dumervil, Shareece Wright & Kyle Arrington gets you the money to sign Williams ($10 million+). You're going to replace Wright with a CB in the draft anyway. Same with Arrington. Cutting Watson & Kendrick Lewis gets you most of the money to resign Wagner. All 5 of those guys have in house replacements. And more importantly, your entire O-line stays intact (Ravens were 4-0 last year when they all started together). If you didn't cut anyone else, you'd still have about $9 million to go out and get a veteran WR/CB/ILB. Add in at least 1 maybe 2 top CB in the draft and this defense looks infinitely better - BWill, Pierce, Suggs, Judon, Mosley, Peanut, Weddle, Webb, Jimmy, Tavon, Draft CB, Draft CB, Draft S. Still have Kaufusi, KC, Davis, Henry, ZaDarius, Canady waiting in the wings.....That's a Top 5 defense.

I don't want to get into the "bust" debate, but I definitely think he sees a highly increased amount of snaps, hes not going to learn as a 3 or 4 the way he needs to. I would love to bring Marshall in and have BP as a number 2 (in theory). Anyone know how many snaps BP played last year
