Ryan didn't choke, the falcons as a team did. Speechless

The most interesting thing about this, and something I've never thought about previously, is that Rice is the only 2nd round pick we've resigned. Sadly, that worked against the team since he only played one year under the new contract and it was a very bad year for him on the field

I was really going to wait until after the combine and the start of FA to make my third mock draft but it's late and I have nothing better to do...so buckle up, here we go. I usually don't try to predict trades, but I'll make an exception here since this is being made pretty much on the fly. We trade our 1st (16th overall) and 3rd (Comp) to Detroit in exchange for their 1st (21st overall), 3rd, and 4th. So basically we're moving back in the first, up in the third, and acquiring a 4th. Round 1 (pick 21) - Sidney Jones // CB // Washington // 6'0", 185 lbs Jones is my top all around CB in the draft, but here I have him as the third CB taken behind Wilson and Lattimore. Why? I feel Wilson is the better CB within 20 yards of the LOS, but Jones is better all around, and Lattimore just has wicked potential. Jones is remarkable at staying with his man no matter what and staying disciplined while in coverage. Personally I think he's the best all around coverage corner in the draft, he doesn't have a major pitfall in any kind of coverage, he can do it all. On top of that, he is a surprisingly reliable run defender as well. We saw this past year what happens to our defense when Jimmy inevitably gets hurt, we go from being a contender for the best unit in football to hot garbage. Jones can step in right away and start opposite Jimmy on the outside, and let Tavon move inside to slot where his skillset is better suited. If/when Jimmy goes down we can kick Tavon back out and keep rolling forward. Round 2 - Haason Reddick // ILB/EDGE // Temple // 6'1", 237 lbs Reddick is a very interesting prospect, I don't know if there is anyone in the LB class that is more athletically gifted than him. I fully believe that with him and Correa on the field together our unit would be extremely tricky for offensive coordinators and players alike to decode, having two guys that can switch between ILB and EDGE would allow for some creative playcalling that'll disguise what we're going to do. Together he and Correa can be a duo that plays off each other and make each other better. The two of them on the field together would shut up the Correa deniers real quick, they seem like a pair that could spell nightmares for opposing offenses. However, I would be remiss if I failed to mention that Reddick is in danger of not being here, in a relatively weak ILB top end, and he being so athletic and smart, he could start to rise even moreso than he already has. Round 3 - Jay Guillermo // C/G // Clemson // 6'3", 310 lbs It's no secret that Zuttah was the weakest link in our starting oline unit, we need to draft his successor. Since the Gradkowski debacle Zuttah has been a valuable asset starting at center for us and being mostly reliable, but this past year he took a very noticeable step backward. With a year of development Guillermo can take over from Zuttah and be our center for the future, in the mean time he is valuable depth up front in case injuries keep popping up. Guillermo fits the new look our oline seems like it'll go in now that we have a new set of coaches working with them, Guillermo is nothing if not a mauler. I don't think he'll be a guy capable of taking over year 1, so with him I think Zuttah will most definitely be starting come next year, which many around here would hate, but he's safer than the alternatives. Round 3 (from earlier trade) - Noah Brown // WR // Ohio State // 6'2", 220 lbs I know people hate taking WRs based on potential, especially since it hasn't worked out amazingly for us yet, but Brown is a very special case. First of all, I expect us to address the WR position in FA, honestly I don't think we can afford not to, the FA WR class is relatively strong with some notable names that we can afford to add, i.e. Garcon, maybe even a Brandon Marshall if he gets cut. Now Brown has all of the tools to be a great WR, he should have stayed for his final year at OSU, but he decided to declare early. He's a big bodies WR with good speed - though not a speedster, maybe he can sneak into the late 4.4s as far as the 40 goes - but on tape I am impressed with his ability in the intermediate area and his release off the snap is top tier, the guy gets separation more than his receiving numbers would indicate. Probably my favorite thing about him is that he is a very aggressive run blocker, just watch the guy, when it's time to run block in gets in there and attacks, which is great for a team like us that really wants to establish the run from the onset of the game. Round 4 - Ejuan Price // EDGE // Pittsburgh // 5'10", 246 lbs Unfortunately, based on where he's from it's pretty safe to assume that he's a Steelers fan, that being said, I'm happy to look the other way in this case. If Price is available this late then all teams are foolish to let him go by unpicked. Forget about his height, as a situational pass rusher in the NFL Price will be a star from the get go. His spin move is Freeney-esque, but he uses a variety of moves to get to opposing QBs and he's damn good at getting there. He's an immediate upgrade to our lacking pass rush and, in my opinion, he does have the strength to be more than just a situational guy eventually. Round 4 (from earlier trade) - Jordan Morgan // OG // Kutztown // 6'2", 313 lbs Another Senior Bowl kid that really impressed me playing at LG, held up very well in both pass blocking and getting very good push as a run blocker. Small school guy so he obviously needs some work, personally what I saw at the Senior Bowl as an area that could be improved is that he's impatient, if he doesn't have someone directly in front of him to block he moves out of position to block someone off the LOS, leaving the QB potentially vulnerable and opening himself up to a penalty for being downfield. Also, while run blocking he tended to move his guy straight back rather than trying to wall him off and opening up a hole. That being said, he held up very well against both Carlos Watkins and Montravious Adams, two guys that I really, really like that'll go much earlier than him, and I feel like both of the problems that I mentioned are fixable in time. One of our downfalls this season was lack of depth along the oline, Jensen regresses and Urschel just hasn't taken the step forward that we want him to. Now add into the equation that it's a possibility that Wagner will leave in FA (hopefully not, I think it would be a mistake to let him go), kicking Lewis out to RT in all likelihood, leaving us with a gaping hole at LG, we need interior blockers badly. One of the more intriguing - at least to me - things that I've found while going through the process is that in the past 10 years (possibly even further back, I didn't go back farther) we have taken a small school guy every year with only one exception (2011). I don't know about you all, but this is just a pattern that I never really noticed. And also something to keep in mind: we met with Morgan at the Senior Bowl, take from that what you will about whether we like him or not. Round 5 - D.J. Killings // CB // UCF // 5'10", 180 lbs Getting to that point in the draft where I'm just going to name an under the radar guys that I like, Killings is that guy. He's on the smaller side, but the guy is really smooth and QBs didn't challenge him all that much, however, when he was challenged he always showed up. Obviously not a perfect prospect right out of the gate, is any CB this late? but I see the tools of a guy that will surprise some people if given the shot. We need depth at slot CB, believe it or not I don't want to rely on Powers again next season, and I like DJ's fit with us. Round 6 - John Law // ILB // Appalachian State // 6'1", 235 lbs Again, guy I really like, see sideline to sideline athletic ability, coverage skills, packs some punch in the run game, and possibly most important, the instincts are there. ILB depth was a problem even when Zach Orr was on the team, now that he's gone we could use another guy, even if it's someone who won't see the field much aside from special teams. Also, having an ILB named "Johnny Law" would just be great. Round 7 - Karel Hamilton // WR // Samford // 6'0", 200 lbs This late, could be anyone, but during the East/West Shrine game Hamilton showed off some unbelievable hands and speed to go deep. Samford has been pumping out some good talent the past couple years, Michael Pierce for example, and I can see Hamilton carving out a role in the NFL. Main thing is though, guy has a top tier set of hands and I'd love to have this guy, for a team that for whatever reason loves to take guys with lots of speed and questionable hands - every freaking time - it'd be nice to have a guy with a set of reliable hands, and the guy even has the speed we always want so it wouldn't be much of a departure.

Just to go a bit deeper on the love for Britt. His numbers on the surface look below average. But when you compare his on field production to some of the games best, he actually measures up pretty well. Based on what the Ravens said they wanted. Veteran WR who can move the chains consistently, pick up key 1st downs and making game changing plays with the game on the line. Britt has done all of those things for a crappy offense. This is how Britt would measure up to other AFC North WRs. AJ Green: 349 Targets, 221recs 67% 1st downs, 21% went for 20+yds, 2% went for 40+yds with 20TDs A. Brown: 528Targets, 371recs 62% 1st downs, 17% went for 20+ yds, 4% went for 40+yds with 35TDs K. Britt: 267 Targets, 152recs 72% 1st downs, 26% went for 20+ yds, 7% went for 40+yds with 11TDs Both Pit and Cincy passed the ball at a much higher volume than the Rams did. What could Britt do with more targets? Now let's look at those same number and compare them to the #1 WR the Ravens have had the last 9 years under Harbs. D. Mason 08-10': 355 Targets 214recs 74% 1st downs, 14% went for 20+yds, 3% went for 40+ with 19TDs A. Boldin 10'-12': 327 Targets 186recs, 70% 1st downs, 22% went for 20+yds, 1% went for 40+yds with 14TDs Smith Sr 14,-16': 308 Targets 195recs, 57% 1st downs 20% went for 20+yds, 5% went for 40+yds with 14TDS So even if you dropped Britt into the Ravens offense over the last 3 years, his numbers probably would have been on par if not exceeded what we've had as number #1 targets over the last 9 years. The Ravens have never targeted their #1 WR less than 100 times and by comparison Britt was only targeted 100+ times once with the Rams. That was 2016 when he put up 1,000 yards. Unless a bidding war starts for him, I think Britt would be a perfect fit for the Ravens. He gives you both possession and big play ability.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Not a lot of second contracts. There are guys they would've like to re-sign, though.

I've got another great idea. How about we draft somebody with our #2 and #3 picks who can actually play.
  7. 3 points
I think we're trying to rationalize it happening so the Ravens can get him. Excellent run defender of epic proportions. Can pursue extremely well, get across the formation on cutbacks, and rarely misses a tackle. He's just phenomenal against the run. As a pass coverage safety, he's able to cover tight ends with ease, processes combo routes that require pass offs in coverage, and shows good enough range to play in a single high. He's also an elite leader and has excellent character. He's just an A+ across the board and he's going to go in the top 10 unless he bombs the combine or shows a lack of desire.
  8. 3 points
I think he will fall to us. I think Marlon Humphrey's is going to do better in the combine and I think teams will view Sidney Jones as the better prospect and look past Lattimore's injury history, if so they're going to lose out because we're going to be a lucky team if we get Wilson here. I think he's going to be a really good CB.

so why does nobody ever talk about jourdan lewis? seems to be the forgotten man of this class and maybe the most underrated. his ball skills are incredible, hes got the athleticism, hes plays quick and fast and decisive, long speed, change of direction. not sure why he gets no attention around here. id love him at 48.

Your are literally the most negative poster ive seen since the days of Sami84. I guess SSr was a bad pickup. And Jacoby. And Wallace. Guess those guys in NE suck because they cant draft WRs....Guess you also didn't realize we had the number one defense for most of the year. Do you even read what you say?

Yeah how dare a Baltimore Ravens writer write about something that is related to the team, as well as beneficial to the community. SMH

A recent report has come out from the girl's lawyer that a father of a highschool girl was beaten up by Joe and the father goes on to say he is a woman beater. The difference in this situation compared to with RR is that RR didn't have these issues and we drafted him as a clean character guy. Mixon to me is already a lot of words I wont say on here because I will get banned, I would be disgusted if we drafted him. I understand your premise of we cant just draft perfect choir boys, but at the same time the owner is the one that attaches these names to HIS organization, HIS team, HIS image, pays these guys. The kid showed no remorse, he was joking with his teammates on the sidelines and having them pretending to punch him....does that sound like a good character kid who "learned his lesson." That is not a player I would like attached to our name, just my preference

The track record doesn't seem as bad as some have suggested. You've listed 20 picks. By my count, at least 7 were great picks (35%), at least 4 others were good picks (20%) and the jury's still out on 2 picks (10%). IDK what the percentages should be but it seems to me that hitting on 50% or more is pretty good. It is also apparent from your list that our success with 2nd rounders has improved in the second half of our team history. That's a good thing! Obviously, it is important to differentiate between a good pick and how well the player performed once drafted. For example, Sergio Kindle might have been a dynamite pick but an unfortunate accident hurt his chances to have a successful career in the NFL.

Considering the success The 49ers had with him and how creative he is with the run game then I have to disagree.I like that he's only 44 years old and he should help alot with The Ravens rushing attack.

I've been seeing a lot of posts in articles written and just on the comments and boards here in general about how the Ravens seem to be whiffing on a lot of upper tier picks recently, especially the second round. This got me to thinking...have the Ravens ever drafted well with their second round picks? I plan to post all of the second round picks since the team's inception and let you, the fans decide: 1996: 2nd round: CB: DeRon Jenkins...AKA: "toast." He played four seasons with the Ravens, never a starter, and in his last season with this team was relegated to Special Teams. Hung in for two more unimpressive seasons with SD and TEN. 1997: 2nd Round: LB: Jamie Sharper: Was a 5 year starter with Baltimore and really started to click in his final season with the team. He wasn't a supremely disruptive force in his time with Baltimore but they got a 5 year starter out of the pick and that's exactly what you want out of a high pick. 1997: 2nd Round: S: Kim Herring: Was a full time starter in 2 of his 4 years with the team and put up his best season in his walk year. Cashed in on a big contract with the Rams where he continued to be a good starter before the injury bug bit him hard. I don't think he provided as much value as Sharper did. 1998: 2nd Round: WR: Patrick Johnson: Supremely fast (he once beat Olympic dynamo Carl Lewis in a race) but could never get open or catch a ball. If your first thought when reading the name listed was "WHO?" then you kind of answer the question of feast or famine. 1999: No 2nd round pick. 2000: No 2nd round pick. 2001: 2nd Round: CB: Gary Baxter: Baxter was a 3 year full time starter in his four seasons with Baltimore. At 6'2'' 204lbs he was a force to be reckoned with and paired up extremely well opposite Chris McAlister. He played very well for us and cashed in big with Cleveland but injuries caught up with him as well and derailed his career. I presonally think this was a good pick. 2002: 2nd Round: DL: Anthony Weaver: Was a 4 year full time starter in each of his seasons with the team. He was a disruptive force as he caused fumbles, swatted away passes, and did get to the QB a bit. He went on to be another 3 year full time starter for Houston before a shoulder injury ended his career. 2003: No 2nd Round Pick 2004: 2nd Round: DT: Dwan Edwards: Edwards was a rotational player for the first three seasons and then became a regular starter for the final two seasons here with Baltimore, played two seasons with Buffalo as a starter and then four more seasons with Carolina as a starter and then rotational guy that saw plenty of snaps until his final season with them in 2015. He was better in his time after a Raven, especially with Carolina when he became a pass rushing threat. While we didn't get all the value out of him that he had, his success elsewhere and 11 year career I think proves that he was a good pick. 2005: 2nd Round Pick: Dan Cody: Cody was a hyped pick but unfortunately barely ever played due to blowing out his knee in camp almost as soon as we got him in camp. This pick was a bust simply because we never got to see him play. 2005: 2nd Round Pick: OT: Adam Terry: Terry had the looks, a big guy at 6'8'' 330lbs he had the makings of a monster mauler type. Unfortunately he didn't have the heart or durability to ever fulfill that promise. He spent four unimpressive seasons as a back up/situational starter for us before missing all of a season and then playing 2 games for SD. 2006: 2nd Round Pick: OG: Chris Chester: At 6'3'' 300lbs. and being a former TE, he had the athleticism the Ravens were looking for, but wasn't as physical as he needed to be in our system at the time. He was a full time starter for the team in the three of his last five seasons with the team and then went on to be a full time starter for the rest of his career which was 4 more years with Washington and 2 more with Atlanta. He was a good player overall, just didn't fit our scheme at the time. 2007: No Second Round Pick 2008: 2nd Round Pick: RB: Ray Rice: Don't think I need to say too much here. Without Rice we probably don't win the second SB. Unfortunately an off the field domestic abuse issue forced his premature departure with this team and as a result cost him the rest of his career. 2009: 2nd Round Pick: DE/OLB: Paul Kruger: Part of Kruger's issue is that the Ravens couldn't decide if he was an End or an OLB in our system and Kruger didn't thrive in any as a starter. He found success in his last two seasons, especially in his final season as a situational pass rusher and then starter down the stretch and in the playoffs for the Ravens. Cashed in BIG with the Browns where in three seasons he turned in only one good one and was ultimately cut before signing on with the Saints to have yet another poor season. 2010: 2nd Round Pick: OLB: Sergio Kindle: Ouch. We never got to see what kind of pass rushing monster Kindle could be because almost right after we drafted him he "slept walked" after drinking a lot at a party and fell down a flight of stairs which fractured his skull and left him with some permanent hearing loss. But that's okay because we had ANOTHER 2nd round pick in 2010, right? 2010: 2nd Round Pick: DT/NT: Terrence Cody: AKA: "Mt. Cody" was a massive body that the Ravens envisioned eating up blockers in the middle of the defense and allowing everyone else to roam free. Unfortunately Cody ate lots of other things. At nearly 400lbs perhaps his combine numbers should have said something to the Ravens as he did only 19 reps of 225lbs. Add in injury issues and you got a big disappointment figuratively and literally speaking. Ouchx2. 2011: 2nd Round Pick: WR: Torrey Smith: Paired up with big arm QB Joe Flacco Torrey used his great speed to very good results in this offense and becoming the ONLY drafted WR by the Ravens to go over 1,000 yards in a season. Able to make big time plays and score the football he was a full time starter in each of his four seasons in Baltimore. Due a big pay raise, he cashed in big in FA with the 49ers and has had two lackluster seasons with them. 2012: 2nd Round Pick: OG: Kelechi Osemele: He may be one of the best Guards in the game right now as a sheer massive mauler and was a full time starter in each of his four seasons with the Ravens and was credited for the turn around in Oakland in his first full season with them. If nagging injuries don't become more bothersome moving forward he may be an all time great as he's missed at least some playing time in each year following his first with the Ravens. 2013: 2nd Round Pick: MLB: Arthur Brown: Brown never made it passed Special Teams contributor in his three seasons with the Ravens before they finally gave up on him and he then spent 2016 between the Jets and Jags as a special teamer as well. 2014: 2nd Round Pick: DT: Timmy Jernigan: Jernigan is a bit of an enigma right now as he at times shows flashes of becoming a disruptive force from the interior line, but getting derailed by stupid penalties or just lack of production. He's become a full time starter in his third season with the Ravens and it will be interesting to see if it finally clicks for him in his next season. If it does plan on Jernigan walking for a huge pay day as big time pass rushing threats from his position are rare commodities. 2015: 2nd Round Pick: TE: Maxx Williams: Williams like Jernigan is a question mark right now, when on the field he's shown flashes of being the Todd Heap-like playmaker the Ravens thought they were getting. But nagging injuries in his first season kept him off the field and a major injury kept him completely off the field in 2016. He will need to stay healthy and regain his form next season. It will be a big make or break year for him IMO. 2016: 2nd Round Pick: LB: Kamalei Correa: An under the radar pick, the Ravens had fans questioning the pick from the onset even though pundits around praised how well Correa shows up on film. Perhaps they should have questioned the competition level he faced. Admittedly he does look good to my eyes on his college game tape, but now he's going up against the best of the best. He was hyped so much but other than getting into scrums with veterans (including one that broke one of Dennis Pitta's fingers/thumb) he made literally no noise. Thinking his game doesn't quite match up for a outside rushing threat and an injury forcing Zach Orr to retire there is talk of KC moving to ILB. He got limited playing time in his rookie season partially due to unimpressive play and a major injury. It will be interesting to see just what he turns into going forward.

As much as I'd like a top WR or CB we need a Pass Rusher bad. That's part of the reason we didn't finish out game's last year because the QB had so much time to do what he wanted back there in the pocket.
  18. 2 points
"The Ravens haven’t drafted a cornerback in the first three rounds since they made Jimmy Smith their top pick in 2011." ... that fact alone begs us to pick a CB high. I originally felt that we needed to make that our #1 but the more I think about it, it really doesn't have to be. Bottom line is we need an absolute difference making player and .. other than TE, ILB and QB ... I really don't know that I care what position that is. If there is an early run on CBs and a jaw-dropping talent like either Williams or Cooks are there ... then take them. O line ... yes, we have needs but the draft doesn't look to be stellar at this position at the top. I prefer that we keep Wagner, if at all possible, and bring in an upgrade for Zuttah in FA and draft mid-round depth.
  19. 2 points
with the needs we have, i highly doubt that ozzie will pick a RB in 1st rnd, it will be tempting to pass on a players like WR williams or Davis, but we need help at OL, Pass rush, CBs positions, more than any other position, the more QBs get picked head of us the better chances we pick a plug n play player.

Your are uncomfortable with Flacco being friends with guys on the offensive side of the ball ? I hope you are joking here. He isn't throwing dinks and dunks to Pitta because they are BFFs. He is throwing them because the WRs down the field are covered or at least he has the perception that they are covered. Do you want him to force it into coverage. If Crockett Gilmore or Maxx or whoever were out there instead of Pitta he would be throwing to them. Because of their close relationship they are more in sync with each other. You need to invert your statement. Instead of wanting Joe and Pitta to end their friendship, you should be hoping that he develops similar relationships with his other receivers on the team. Being angry because Pitta gained 720 yards last year is absurd. Cmon man. Because they are bffs, Pitta got his $3M bonus/ salary back, and a lot of it had to do with these 5-8 yard dinks to pitta bread. How many times do you remember when Flacco hit pitta bread with a 20 yard pass? Exactly... Flacco went to Pitta so much because he's the only one he could trust to actually catch the ball. Wallace, Aiken, Waller, Perriman, all - drop after drop after drop. Pitta, SSS & Juice were the only ones with good hands.
  21. 2 points
Don't know where to vote this one up but would 100 times if I could. Excellent points. All of them. If Flacco was even a top 16 qb in this league ( with his 2nd highest average qb salary), things would be different. But he's not. He had one good regular season with a coach we didn't keep, and a great postseason..................FIVE years ago. The front office has gone from a strength to a weakness over the years. And that is the only chance of having a competitive NFL team every year. If your FO has it together. Ours clearly doesn't. And the coaching for the Ravens is exponentially worse. Maybe nobody will notice if the Harbuagh brothers switch places....... I can't argue with you either. Yeah, I'd also take Jim over John any day- he'd secure in himself, and he could handle strong personalities like Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard. Ever since Ray left, this team has been void of play makers, attitude, game passion, and strong leadership - one reason why Flacco wasn't a captain in college.
  22. 2 points
Again are you serious? Do you really think that the only reason that Joe threw the ball to Pitta as many times as he did was so that Pitta could get his 3 mil bonus. Cmon man you cant really believe that. That is nonsense. And the amount of times Joe got the ball to Pitta for 20 yard or more has no relevance to your argument.

bakers 40 time could vault him into the first, along with all the other burst/agility/fluidity drills. i just dont see a day 2 prospect with baker, his film is too damn good.

All of last year, when Pierce was on the field, our defense looked impenetrable for the run. He is more talented than Williams is at rushing the passer. I think he is just as strong as Williams but needs to improve his conditioning this off season. I think we don't counter Williams if he gets more than we believe he is worth. Pierce, Davis and Henry will more than adequately make up for his loss. My concerns are Lawrence Guy (a must sign) and Juice (a must sign). As for Wagner, he's already rejected our first offer, so he isn't coming back. We just have to sign a tackle in the draft or a guard and push Alex Lewis to RT. Let him walk as well. Cut Watson, Webb, Wright, Arrington immediately. I am of the opinion that we need to keep Wallace and Doom because we'll be saving 5M and 6M respectively on the cap and I don't think you bring in comparable players at those prices. Why bother with accumulating dead money?
  25. 2 points
only if the price is right I mean what games did some of you guys watch for Christ sake this guy is good But NOT Great and should make nowhere close to 10 mill a year and with we overpay him we will be set back again I would rather have a top CB or Receiver I watched every game, no one played as well as Willams. Sure The Ravens young guys did a good job, however big guys cannot play all the downs no matter who they are. So your point is you would rather give up first downs, control of the ball and possibly multiple scores. No one is arguing getting a CB, It can be done but lets stay in contention. Williams shut down run games, he has the capability of playing some pass however its not his best suit. The Ravens have no veteran DL if Williams goes. I believe he is an anchor of the team. He is a leader on and off the field. I would give up Zuttah and Dumervil for Williams any day of the week. I would risk a Rookie Center or developing a replacement, than a weakened DL. The LB crew will be fine without Doom. As far as a WR, the Ravens can afford one with the loss of SSr. I argue that the Ravens have the space to keep Williams. If you are saying you don't want him, that is just something that we disagree on.

Although he, Dixon and Tavon Young all had very promising rookie seasons, there are countless examples why we should all wait until they have their sophomore seasons under their belt. Just look at ZaDarius Smith, who, after a very good rookie season, had a rather pedestrian sophomore season. Which is the real Z? We'll see... Let's hope that all of the three aforementioned rookies turn out to be the real deals - but let's not just take it for granted now.

I don't really like it because Humphrey, at the moment, projects much better to a zone scheme where he can play Tampa 2 or Cover 3 while he learns some of the finer points of the game. Jimmy was pretty much a press specialist coming out.

It wasn't the o line as much as the coaches not calling the running plays or not calling at the right times Not buying that. We had a makeshift O-line for 75% of the games....The games where we had our starting o-line, we were 4-0. If you have a shaky o-line that can't run block, why would you call run plays? That's like throwing a jump ball for Mike Wallace or calling a long bomb to Crockett Gilmore. The Guard & Center are the most important positions for running the ball - we had Zuttah, a hurt Yanda playing out of position and Old Vlad - sound like a good o-line to run with? The Cowboys had the best running game because they had the best o-line & best RB - had little to do with the coaches....

Yea i'd have no issue with re-signing Aiken and I've even said that Aiken made a believer out of me when the Ravens had to rely on him in 2015, I don't get the notion that a guys production should be minimized because he's he teams only option. That would make things tougher for him I'd think. True is, every offense force feeds their best players whomever that my be. I just get the feeling the Ravens are more than willing to allow Aiken to walk if he can get a nice deal somewhere. I certainly agree that Britt is more talented and has more potential than Aiken, but that should be expected of a former 1st round pick. I just see Aiken as a nice possession WR and that'd be great if the Ravens already had an established play maker on the roster. But they don't yet and they need whomever they bring in to be both a chain mover and play maker.

basically, why play football. 31 teams dont know what they are doing, what a joke. The Falcons gave away the biggest game they ever played in and you are touting your sense of smell, we all know where nose goes. Its kind of silly that some still want to use excuses for bad play by a team. The Ravens played bad in 2016 end of story. its 2017 and the Ravens get 7 or so picks and a shot at maybe 3 or 4 FA. Why don't you state what you would do, besides get on your knees and cry Uncle to tommy boy.

Have you lost your mind. Get rid of Ozzie? Get rid of most of our TEs? Better check other teams successes over the years in the draft. I can confidently say we have done just fine.

That's the biggest thing with Wallace, much like Boldin he has no reason to re-do his deal especially since he outperformed his contract last year. I think Wallace was brought in as insurance for Perriman last year. If Perriman was healthy from day 1 I felt the Ravens would have allowed him to sink or swim as the #2 WR in hopes that by seasons end they'd see #1 potential. Wallace outperformed that and has every right to feel like he deserves the 8Mil cap hit he carries in 17. I would love to add Britt, but I feel like he'll start a bidding war and I don't think the Ravens will go too high on it. I think he's a perfect fit to what we wanna do and he'll be around longer than a guy like Marshall. Just not sure what his market value will be coming off that 1,000 yard season. I really don't think the Ravens see the Ravens attacking either position too heavy in FA honestly. Unless a cap casualty comes available I think those two position will be addressed in the draft. Rarely do you find top quality guys on the market at those positions and I don't think the Ravens want to risk getting burned by putting big money into either position unless it's a Dumervile like fluke that a guy comes available. I think the Ravens will look to lock up Wagner, Juice and Bwill, then prepare for any big contracts coming up in house. Weddle might be as big as it gets for a while in terms of outside Free Agents.

I agree with the idea that his legacy has more to lose than gain by coaching at this point. He's still a relatively young and relevant guy. He would like be squandering his opportunities elsewhere as an assistant LB coach.

I may be in the minority here, but I want no part of Ray Lewis as a coach for the Ravens at this time. I think he has too much of a "look at me" personality and would be a distraction. Plus, I have no clue whether he can coach or not. He is too big of a legend for him to come here as a coach and potentially fail. I can't imagine the backlash that would happen if he came here and failed as a coach and he had to be fired. Granted, I am all for him pursuing a coaching job if that is what he wants, but I feel that would be best in a different location for both him and the Ravens (at least until he can prove he's an effective coach)

I really don't think Torrey Smith will be much cheaper than Mike Wallace..... I also think Brandon Marshall would be more expensive than Pierre Garcon....

There has been too many second round busts. Max Williams, Correa, Arthur Brown. Not to say Williams and Correa don't have potential but very concerning they have seen barely any playing time, luckily we do pretty well in the mid rounds and un drafted. It would be nice to see our fist two picks in the secondary and the two third round picks go towards our O Line. We always do well with line backers and D line men, so I am not too concerned, but the secondary and O line has been trash for years. I really hope Correa steps up next year, and for Williams I am just not sure if I see him beating out Watson/Pitta (one will be cut) or Crockett if healthy, there is also a reason we still have Boyle, I thought he looked really good his first year. This team still has a ton of holes, which won't be filled in one year unfortunately. Feels like we are in the same position as last year unfortunately, except with more cap room. Maxx Willaims was hardly a second round bust. He broke most of the rookie records for tight ends and weve had some good tight ends. How can you say our O-line has been trash? We have drafted some excellent talent like Stanley and Alex Lewis this year and Rick Wagner not so long ago.

Just as great a coach as Mike Singletary was I suppose. Ray has great instincts for the game, but coaching is a lot of hours and hard work. Is Ray really looking for that kind of job when these media opportunities pay quite well and isn't that arduous? Not sure how he'll do as a coach, but I would sure like to see him try it out with the Ravens, not as a HC but as a position coach.

I forgot we have to get a safety that can lay the wood I don't care if he can cover as long as he can hit hard over the middle watch how many receivers forget to catch the ball

I've said it many times here the past few weeks, I know: this year we cannot really pick a bad position. The wrong guy maybe - but npot thr wrong position. Assuming Ozzie doesn't go for a QB, a P or a K at #16 (and I guess we can safely assume that much) - he could almost choose a position randomly and be still good with it.

I think it's because he didn't have a dominant week at the Senior Bowl like we expected. His size being still a problem for some, he has to be absolutely flawless in every other aspect of the game to make up for it and he didn't flash enough to keep the hype going I guess. Still love him at 48 though.

Juice couldn't block even if he was driving behind a semi truck- have you not seen games where he continues to get man- handled like a my little pony doll

Perriman is a bust- besides Torrey, what makes you think that Oz can draft WRs? It's a known fact, that he strikes out year after year on WRs and safeties (after Ed Reed) and TEs (after Heap). Torrey Smith did more in his first year than what Perriman did in his 3rd year. Even if Perriman has a breakout year in year 3 or year 4, then he'll be too expensive to keep and Oz will let him walk like he did with Torrey and Anquan- simply put, it's Oz's philsophy not to pay WR too much money because he thinks he can draft a cheaper WR like the patriots a (untrue of course bc he can't draft any good receivers). So anyhow, this team unfortunately is like swiss cheese- we have way too many holes all over the team. I said two years ago that we don't make the playoffs in 2016- I willl say it agian that we won't make it this year either. We basically need to rebuild now.

Yea it's not a really impressive list in terms of bring excitement to the fan base, but knowing how much the Ravens like to find value in veteran on the back 9 of their careers, especially on defense were you're more likely to rotate guys, I thought some of those names would be worth keeping a eye on. Mangold definitely is the guy who'd really get excited about adding. But he's already said he'd love to stay in NY and might even be open to taking a pay cut to do so. So he might not even hit the market, but if he does, i agree, bring him in and don't let him leave until the contract is signed. If BWill is brought back there's no way Ngata is signed. It'd be no point lol. But if we lose BWill which is a real possibility, you'll have Pierce and Davis as the top guys. At that point I think Ngata would be worth a 1yr deal for a backup guy. Carl Davis is a guy that needs to be pushed and for 2017 Ngata would be a good guy to push him. If he outplays Ngata than great you aren't paying Ngata much anyway, keep him until the end of the season and allow him to retire a Raven. If Carl Davis can't outplay Ngata, than you know you need a upgrade at that position moving forward. I really like Pierce and think he'll be more than ok even as the top guy.

I'd say Humphrey is a much better speed prospect. I'd like to see better long speed from Wilson. But Wilson is second to none as a press corner. He's so patient with waiting for his man to make the first move so that he can dictate the receivers movements.

I agree, I don't like the comparison either but we do play plenty of Tampa 2 coverage and cover 3 as well so that will help the learning curve. Personally I do like his size traits and that's what compares to Jimmy best. He's still my #2 CB even though he might have a little trouble in man but we don't play it that much. At the moment I have Wilson as the #1 CB considering Lattimore's injury bug. I know Wilson is more of a man-cover guy but he looked solid in zone and has the ability to play press and off. He's more refined than Humphrey's while having similar size-speed traits. Wilson looks more like Jimmy

Colts aren't desperate to trade anyone but we're like 7/11..."we're not always doing business but we're always open." Lol. Anyway, message me if interested in trading. I'm mostly interested in draft picks since I'm light on those. I'm flexible with who is and isn't available but don't come at me asking for Luck, Castonzo, Moncrief, Hilton, Davis, Geathers or Anderson. I actually know something about the Colts and know them nearly as well as the Ravens because my best friend is unfortunately a fan.

Big Cat I sure did not make my point I thought I was defending Joe . I actually pulled this post because others answered better than me.. ok, yeah I was confused by it. NP, of course Joe could blow it and play like crap. But I dont expect that, At least lets hope not.

very risky to head into next season without a proven d-lineman. pierce showed us a small sample and jernigan ran out of gas but i also understand that we cannot break the bank for him or wagner

Certainly looks like a keeper... and since it's beginning to look like Williams and Wagner may bolt he will be an indispensable part of the DL. Too bad we can't afford him AND Williams.
