I don't think he's underachieved, so much has been expected of him but he's played in a dreadful offense. Everyone is talking up Pierre Garcon but let's comparing him side by side to Britt, I don't think he's been all that much better. Pierre Garcon G GS Rec Yds Avg Lng TD Att Yds Avg Lng TD 2016 Washington Redskins 16 16 79 1,041 13.2 70T 3TD 2015 Washington Redskins 16 16 72 777 10.8 39T 6TD 2014 Washington Redskins 16 14 68 752 11.1 70T 3TD Kenny Britt SeasonTeamReceivingRushingFumbles G GS RecYds Avg LngTD AttYds AvgLng TD FUM Lost 2016 Los Angeles Rams 15 15 68 1,002 14.7 66 5TDs 2015 St. Louis Rams 1614 36 681 18.9 60T 3TDs 2014 St. Louis Rams 16 13 48 748 15.6 63T 3TDs Like I said before, Garcon played in an offense that was up there with some of the passing offenses in the league and ranked 2nd in the league and 3rd overall offensively. Comparitevly Britt played in an offense that ranked as the 31st ranked passing attack and 32nd ranked offense as a hole. I'll also keep in mind that Kirk Cousins is light years better than anyone the Rams have. I like Garcon, but it's like if Julian Edelman were to come here from New England, that's nice but is he going to be better here than what he was with New England? I could certainly say that in our case, we would get a much better Kenny Britt from LA coming here and that's taking into account his impressive season.

Just to go a bit deeper on the love for Britt. His numbers on the surface look below average. But when you compare his on field production to some of the games best, he actually measures up pretty well. Based on what the Ravens said they wanted. Veteran WR who can move the chains consistently, pick up key 1st downs and making game changing plays with the game on the line. Britt has done all of those things for a crappy offense. This is how Britt would measure up to other AFC North WRs. AJ Green: 349 Targets, 221recs 67% 1st downs, 21% went for 20+yds, 2% went for 40+yds with 20TDs A. Brown: 528Targets, 371recs 62% 1st downs, 17% went for 20+ yds, 4% went for 40+yds with 35TDs K. Britt: 267 Targets, 152recs 72% 1st downs, 26% went for 20+ yds, 7% went for 40+yds with 11TDs Both Pit and Cincy passed the ball at a much higher volume than the Rams did. What could Britt do with more targets? Now let's look at those same number and compare them to the #1 WR the Ravens have had the last 9 years under Harbs. D. Mason 08-10': 355 Targets 214recs 74% 1st downs, 14% went for 20+yds, 3% went for 40+ with 19TDs A. Boldin 10'-12': 327 Targets 186recs, 70% 1st downs, 22% went for 20+yds, 1% went for 40+yds with 14TDs Smith Sr 14,-16': 308 Targets 195recs, 57% 1st downs 20% went for 20+yds, 5% went for 40+yds with 14TDS So even if you dropped Britt into the Ravens offense over the last 3 years, his numbers probably would have been on par if not exceeded what we've had as number #1 targets over the last 9 years. The Ravens have never targeted their #1 WR less than 100 times and by comparison Britt was only targeted 100+ times once with the Rams. That was 2016 when he put up 1,000 yards. Unless a bidding war starts for him, I think Britt would be a perfect fit for the Ravens. He gives you both possession and big play ability.

Losing the 2nd overall pick is a big thing, but Cousins is a sure thing while any rookie QB would have been a big risk. I now have a QB

Yeah, let's be clear, we're not taking an OL with the 16th pick. Period. Either we trade back and consider it a possibility, either we take some later believing we can groom them even without Castillo. If we're picking an OL in the second, Elflein is my absolute favourite. He's refined, versatile and has it between the ears. Day 1 starter, whatever happens with the other OLinemen. Trading back is still an option because you can get a top12 player while gaining a 3rd or 4th (picks that Ozzie usually nails), and this class is one of the best in recent memory, so there's really a ton of plausible strategies.

First off, getting paid like a legit #1 WR and the dollar amount of $7-$10 Mil per doesn't go together at all. Jeffery is likely to get somewhere between 15-17 Mil per and when guys like OBJ. AB, Evans etc hit the Market next year that number might shoot up to 19-20 Mil. That's legit #1 money. The Rams just gave Tavon Austin 10M per and Britt had outperformed him the last 3 years in the same crappy offense. If Britt commands more than 8Mil per than I don't think he's on the Ravens radar.. But in terms of why the love because he fits what the Ravens are looking for and at 28 he'll offer a few more years to the table than a 33 year old Marshall(i'd love have him btw). I can promise you there isn't a talent evaluator inside the Ravens building who is going to run to NFL.com and look at his career numbers when they are asked to give a scouting report on him. That's what we fans do. What the Ravens will have do is go back, watch the field and take into account all the variables about his time in STL/LA and how well does he fit what the Ravens want to do. But going by NFL.com cause that's all i can do, the Rams offense has passed for a grand total of 5,756yds 25TDs in the LAST 2 SEASON. Well over those last 2 seasons Britt's numbers read 1,683yds and 8TDs. That's more than 30% of their entire passing game and that's good for any WR. So what could Britt do in a better offense with a better QB? It's risky but I think it's a conversation that the Ravens are having. Britt has been a steady producer for a terrible offense the last 3 years. The Ravens said they want a consistent chain mover who can make big plays when needed. Over the last 3 years, 72% of Britt's catches have gone for 1st downs, 25% went for 20+yds and 7% went for 40+yds with 11TDs . By comparison to Garcon only 57% catches went for first downs, 13% with for 20+ yds and 2% went for 40yds+ with 12TDs. Garcon has played in a good to great offense while Britt played in a offense that players called a high school offense. I'd say the Ravens would be smart to kick the tires on Britt. Not saying he's better than Garcon, but for my money, a lot can be said for a guy who can still produce in a poor offense. Britt 7-9Mil is a great deal imo.

I feel like sites that mock a RB to the Ravens in the first didn't actually watch any of our games, especially not the ones Dixon was starting in. Dixon has everything needed to be a feature back in the NFL, and West and Juice compliment him well enough. The problem was the blocking and having an OC that just wasn't calling run plays.

Yeah, while amusing this is completely false. It is against Life/Safety codes to use a secured escalator as a staircase. If they break down they have to be barricaded until repaired. Escalators are an inherintly dangerous piece of equipment and a maintenance nightmare. They are also energy hogs. I can see why they have resisted their installation. I would guess installing them will raise liability insurance exponentially and also add a huge chunk of change to the operating budget.

Look, the fact that the OP just wanted to show some appreciation for one of our players, only to have it derailed by the usual trolls with the same lame "arguments" says a lot about those people, and nothing about Joe. Yawn...

The Redskins would be fools if they don't sign him to a deal. Something that can't be done in this game.

    1. The reason I specifically said 2019 is because until then, the cost of letting Joe go exceeds the cost of him being here until then. So while I suppose they "could" release him, they'd have a cap figure that would grow by $4M just to let him go vs him staying, so it would be financially beneficial to keep him. 2. Neither of those teams you referenced are comparable, particularly given that Joe was better than both of those QBs significantly in 2016, and neither of those deals had the guaranteed money that his does. I think being a diehard fan , going to games, buying expensive ravens gear, watching games is exactly the type of fans that the Ravens front office cares about. This is a comment section. I will and I encourage all fans to voice their opinions , I think especially after Spending thousands of dollars per seasons we have the right......SMH

That's a fair point. Ryan was probably on board with being aggressive - maybe even encouraged in as Joe has done in the past - but when he got that pressure up that middle, he panicked, ran the wrong way, and held the ball longer than he should. Then the series of plays that pushed them out of FG range where he can be heard mic'd up saying 'What the [Falcon], guys, did you hold?' as they shot themselves in the foot again. Can't really blame him for the sack-fumble. His RB whiffed and Ryan didn't even see the guy.

I wouldn't hate it but I'd prefer a big pusher like Dan Feeney who can really open running lanes. I'd also like a trade back if we're going for either of those.

I think Perriman will be a huge part of what the offense wants to do in 2017. His readiness is the question. Even last year Harbs was talking about how much they wanted to unleash Perriman and they wanted to see big plays out of him consistently but he just wasn't ready after missing training camp in back to back years. Well the gloves are off now. He'll be full throttle and the Ravens will run him like a thoroughbred. Yes he'll have to improve route running and become more physical but I think the offseason and training camp will solve that issue. I fully expect Perriman to have the same type of production Wallace had last year but more TDs. I don't know what his market value will be, but I would like to see Robert Woods added to. I just love the fact that he's only 25 and he's a great route runner. I don't see him getting a big contract but you never know. If Marshall is added, which I see as likely, at 33 I'd still like to see a guy like Woods added as that possible long term chain mover for this offense. Perriman will be 24 and Woods 25, that might be a really nice tandem for the next 5 years or so.

From my school, Tanzel Smart is a monster. He doesn't get talked about a lot because he plays at Tulane, but he's got good size and great speed. He could be a 3rd round guy potential.

He had space if he would've stepped forward rather than run to his right. He out-ran his blocker and it got him hit. The defender in the middle was being double-teamed and was neutralized, his blind-side rusher was on the ground. As to anyone being open, that's on play-design/selection and the WRs I guess. Can see it again from this angle - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7JH-Newv6Y Outside of turning the ball over, the last thing the Falcons could afford was a 12-yard sack. For great plays made (or disasterous plays avoided) under pressure in a Super Bowl, look no further than your boy Joe Flacco! At the 1:47, 4:39, and 9:04 marks - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKNj4XHGDv0 I think that it IS enough time to react to the pressure, yes, we see this all the time in the NFL. It's almost instinctual with these guys, sometimes. Is it fair to ask or could I expect to do it? Absolutely not. You always hear it's a game of inches, though.

Ravensfan23 summed up my thoughts but I don't consider $7-8M to be paid like a #1 WR. Mohammad Sanu, Marvin Jones, and Torrey Smith are all making this amount or at least close to it and these are your prototypical #2 WRs, so I wouldn't consider 8-10M as #1 WR money. Britt fits everything the Ravens want, they want to pick up 1st downs, they want to move the chains, they want to be more effective in the redzone and Britt can contribute in all areas. You brought up Marshall and Garcon and while I agree that Marshall is more talented, I don't think even his stressful offenses are as bad as Britt was. In Garcon's case he played in a high octane passing offense that ranked top 5 in passing yards last 2 seasons and a QB who is light-years better than anyone the Rams had(Yes, it was that bad for LA.) With that said, Britt preformed pretty damn well given the circumstances and I think he could be a stud with Ravens/Joe.

I will just express my opinion, You need to be more of a real football fan than just a Ravens fan or a TV fan. So it was an off year. You seem to have some knowledge of the history and players. Let me try to put this in a different perspective. You were young but you must remember Dan Marino. Dan had great stats and he even had a perfect season record, but never won a Super Bowl. He had some down years too. He was at one time the highest paid NFL player, he had his worst season the year following and actually lost faith in his team. He went on to write about it and realized that he can only change what was in his power to change. There are many other QB's you can look at in NFL history, who have struggled as the " on-the field" leader type personalities. But Joe still holds the NFL Playoff record for first 5 years of QB Carreer. Joe has been in the playoffs 6 years (winning seasons as well) out of his 9 year career. He has fought through an injury and many team injuries. I do not think you could find a more committed Raven than Joe Flacco. I will stay a fan, sure its hard sometimes but having a team and history like the Ravens isn't one of them. Try being a Saints fan, or Atlanta, or Titans, Jacksonville, Jets, Buffalo, even lately Vikings, Bears, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, are you really ready to trade for that? Just voicing my opinion. Let it play out and see. If Joe fails, he is not the first one. The Ravens will get another QB in a couple of years. But if I have any notion of Joe and the Ravens, you haven't seen the last of the playoffs.

I think we have about 29 too many coaches, we just need 3, 4 max, head, oc, do, and st. The guys have been playing their entire lives, that's what college is for too, development, if they don't know to play by the time they are drafted, then they shouldn't be drafted.

Ryan was done his drop, saw the pressure, ran right, out-ran his blocker, the rusher shed and got him. He did have that split-second to decide to throw it, throw it away, and/or climb the pocket to escape

    1. Cap hit and what he's actually get paid are two different things. 2. Joe's locked in as the starter through at least 2018. No point in discussing it until then, because his contract dictates that much. He holds 100% of the leverage until 2019. That being said, compensation really has nothing to do with how you perform at the position in a given year. Actually pretty rare on an annual basis for the highest paid person to be the best at that position. With everybody knowing that he needs to play better (himself included), I'm also not sure why anybody would think a change would happen. You could argue either side of the "he hasn't lived up to his contract" argument ever since 2013, and yet he's been the starter out there every year since. And for the next two years, barring injury, that's exactly what will happen, pretty much regardless of where he "ranks" among QBs.

basically, why play football. 31 teams dont know what they are doing, what a joke. The Falcons gave away the biggest game they ever played in and you are touting your sense of smell, we all know where nose goes. Its kind of silly that some still want to use excuses for bad play by a team. The Ravens played bad in 2016 end of story. its 2017 and the Ravens get 7 or so picks and a shot at maybe 3 or 4 FA. Why don't you state what you would do, besides get on your knees and cry Uncle to tommy boy.

Cmon crusader read the whole response. He wasn't talking about how to determine a bust after a guy is in the NFL for four years. The question mark ends the sentence. Simple question if you ask me "How....do.....you....guys....determine...who's....a.....BUST....or.....NOT?" The exact same way you determine who is talented or not. You stick your thumb in the air and whichever the way the wind blows is whether they are great or a bust. And there's nothing in between with fans either. Its HOF or bust.

Oh give it a rest. He's coming off of a serious injury.Too many other factors come into being a "elite" QB. He really has not had the kind of receivers as players like Ryan and Manning have had. He just renegotiated his contract a little while ago so don't expect a pay cut from him nor should he have to take one.

Joe is the number 2 QB in terms of cap hit and number 24 in terms of QB rating and efficiency. Pretty much says it all. Since we are stuck with him for three more long years due to the dead money issues the question becomes how can the Ravens get him to play better. I am discouraged by the fact that the Ravens have decided that no QB coach is even going to be appointed. Sounds like they are satisfied with 24th ranked play out of their QB.

I call this the calm before the storm. This year it's been quiet, too quiet if you ask me. Something tells me FA will be crazier than ever as everyone is just sitting back plotting how to make agents drool over how much money their clients could make if we were in charge.

Ravens have overlooked local talent in the past (i.e.: Diggs from Maryland). There are 2 strong candidates down the road in Blacksburg VA (Virginia Tech) that are high on the Mel Kipers list. Isiah Ford (WR) and Bucky Hodges (TE). Hodges has the same build and strength at Gronkowski with NE and Ford is similar to Smith Sr and can even return kicks (would risk him as Punt Returner)

There's a mock from Bleacher Report that has three QBs going before the Ravens' pick, and Barnett falling for us: The Pick: DE Derek Barnett, Tennessee Fourteen years ago, the Baltimore Ravens stood pat at the 10th overall pick, and college's football best pass-rusher fell to them because of concerns about his athleticism. Derek Barnett may not be the next Terrell Suggs, but the logic of selecting the Tennessee product remains the same. Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome apparently believes a pass-rusher who dominates at the collegiate level should be able to do the same as a professional. Barnett left Tennessee after setting a school record with 33 sacks. He also finished second on the Vols' career list with 52 tackles for loss. But concerns persist about his ability to beat offensive tackles at the next level. Teams will be closely watching how he performs at the combine—specifically in the 10-yard split, short shuttle and three-cone drill. Meanwhile, Suggs and his bookend, Elvis Dumervil, need reinforcements. Both are at least 33 years old. Each dealt with multiple injuries during their careers. Last season, the duo combined for only 11 sacks, and the team finished 24th overall in the category. Barnett may not display top-end physical traits, but he has a knack for getting to the quarterback. It's a quality the Ravens need. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2692179-2017-nfl-mock-draft-pre-combine-update
