Thank goodness we didn't lose the SB and have to offer flimsy excuses to justify a collapse of epic proportions. We made the plays when we needed them, the Falcons did not. Goes across all phases and players. Yes, including the QB position.

Part of the Denver stuff was before he had the bipolar thing diagnosed but he does a lot for charity and the community. Plus if you had to deal with Gino Smith, Fitzpatrick, Hackenburg as your QBs you would probably want to leave town too.

I think Perriman will be a huge part of what the offense wants to do in 2017. His readiness is the question. Even last year Harbs was talking about how much they wanted to unleash Perriman and they wanted to see big plays out of him consistently but he just wasn't ready after missing training camp in back to back years. Well the gloves are off now. He'll be full throttle and the Ravens will run him like a thoroughbred. Yes he'll have to improve route running and become more physical but I think the offseason and training camp will solve that issue. I fully expect Perriman to have the same type of production Wallace had last year but more TDs. I don't know what his market value will be, but I would like to see Robert Woods added to. I just love the fact that he's only 25 and he's a great route runner. I don't see him getting a big contract but you never know. If Marshall is added, which I see as likely, at 33 I'd still like to see a guy like Woods added as that possible long term chain mover for this offense. Perriman will be 24 and Woods 25, that might be a really nice tandem for the next 5 years or so.

A recent report has come out from the girl's lawyer that a father of a highschool girl was beaten up by Joe and the father goes on to say he is a woman beater. The difference in this situation compared to with RR is that RR didn't have these issues and we drafted him as a clean character guy. Mixon to me is already a lot of words I wont say on here because I will get banned, I would be disgusted if we drafted him. I understand your premise of we cant just draft perfect choir boys, but at the same time the owner is the one that attaches these names to HIS organization, HIS team, HIS image, pays these guys. The kid showed no remorse, he was joking with his teammates on the sidelines and having them pretending to punch him....does that sound like a good character kid who "learned his lesson." That is not a player I would like attached to our name, just my preference

Aiken was the #4 on paper only. If you look at the number of snaps played Aiken played way more than Perriman regardless of being #3 or #4. Aiken had 595 snaps compared to Perriman's 485. So while Aiken was technically labeled the #4 WR he saw more snaps then the #3 because it's about the role each player plays. Unless Perriman just completely bombs during OTAs the Ravens will look to game plan him into the offense. He's a 1st round pick entering his 3rd year. They not only want to see if he can perform consistently, they want to see if he can possibly be that #1 type guy. So he's probably gonna see anywhere from 80-100 targets. By comparison he was targeted 66 times last year and that was basically as a rookie who missed 2 training camps. Now the coaches will have an entire offseason and training camp with him(hopefully). He's gonna be more involved period. If you're bringing in a strong route running play maker he'll definitely be on the field and I'd imagine he sees 100+ targets. So even if Wallace is labeled as #1 his snaps and targets will be cut into just like Aiken's was last year, because the Ravens are gonna almost force feed Perriman, hence the Aiken reference. So no matter where he's ranked on the depth chart, I doubt he'll be a focus point of the passing game most weeks. The Ravens won't be passing the ball as much as last year and the TEs will probably have a larger role as well, meaning more targets. I have no doubt Wallace will be here. The only way he's not is if he's unhappy that the team is trying to lower his 8Mil cap hit and things get ugly. My point is, what's his role? It will more than like diminish and I don't see the Ravens paying him 8Mil for a diminished role.

Cmon crusader read the whole response. He wasn't talking about how to determine a bust after a guy is in the NFL for four years. The question mark ends the sentence. Simple question if you ask me "How....do.....you....guys....determine...who's....a.....BUST....or.....NOT?" The exact same way you determine who is talented or not. You stick your thumb in the air and whichever the way the wind blows is whether they are great or a bust. And there's nothing in between with fans either. Its HOF or bust.

Yup, just like he ran circles around us a few months back when he played us. Those 11 rushing yards and 111 passing yards he torched us with really had our old defense quaking in their boots. Its like you people don't even watch games...

The amount of draftable players that have domestic violence concerns is so small that it in no way affects our drafting success. And contrary to popular belief we haven't shied away from drafting people with other types of character concerns. Alex Lewis knocked out an Air Force cadet and spent 45 days in jail because of it. And its not like all of these guys with off field concerns automatically turn their life around once they get into the NFL. For every Tyreek Hill there is a Josh Gordan, Johnny Manziel, Aaron Hernandez, or Brendan Merriweather. Being well liked by coaches, players and staff members doesn't mean that you aren't a scum bag. When you are the number 1 running back recruit in the nation people are going to like you. Playing time is going to be abundant and as long as you have a good attitude on the football field coaches and players are going to like you. But it is clear that Mixon has let this adulation go to his head. Mixon and his ego have been an issue for a while now. Even in High School his big man on campus persona has been a problem as USMC has pointed out below. There were multiple times during the dispute when Mixon could have walked away. The most notable was after the verbal altercation outside. There was a 20 second gap between the time the girl enters the door and when Mixon does. He could have let it go but no.... this guy would not be disrespected in front of his friends. There is also the incident of the parking ticket which happened more recently. This is the quote from wiki... "Oklahoma suspended Mixon for one game in 2016 after an incident involving him and a parking attendant. After receiving a parking citation, Mixon confronted the attendant, tore the citation in half, and threw the pieces, which hit her in the face. According to the incident report, he then "inched at the officer" with his vehicle "to intimidate the officer". When anyone challenges this guys authority or if he perceives someones actions as disrespectful he has no problem trying to intimidate smaller and weaker people. I don't want a guy like that on my team. He is a scumbag. I do agree that their is a double standard in perception between the Ravens and other teams. Another example was when Frank Clark drafted by Seattle.

Have you lost your mind. Get rid of Ozzie? Get rid of most of our TEs? Better check other teams successes over the years in the draft. I can confidently say we have done just fine.

That's the biggest thing with Wallace, much like Boldin he has no reason to re-do his deal especially since he outperformed his contract last year. I think Wallace was brought in as insurance for Perriman last year. If Perriman was healthy from day 1 I felt the Ravens would have allowed him to sink or swim as the #2 WR in hopes that by seasons end they'd see #1 potential. Wallace outperformed that and has every right to feel like he deserves the 8Mil cap hit he carries in 17. I would love to add Britt, but I feel like he'll start a bidding war and I don't think the Ravens will go too high on it. I think he's a perfect fit to what we wanna do and he'll be around longer than a guy like Marshall. Just not sure what his market value will be coming off that 1,000 yard season. I really don't think the Ravens see the Ravens attacking either position too heavy in FA honestly. Unless a cap casualty comes available I think those two position will be addressed in the draft. Rarely do you find top quality guys on the market at those positions and I don't think the Ravens want to risk getting burned by putting big money into either position unless it's a Dumervile like fluke that a guy comes available. I think the Ravens will look to lock up Wagner, Juice and Bwill, then prepare for any big contracts coming up in house. Weddle might be as big as it gets for a while in terms of outside Free Agents.

It's the same people who will come on here next off season and say how they told everyone that KC was worth the pick and he just needed time. The same people that came on here and said that C. Upshaw wasn't worth keeping. They didn't seem to know how well he played for us, especially against the run. Now they are on here saying that we should have kept him and it's all Harbaugh's fault . Juice can carry the ball. Looked great doing it against the Steelers. Small sample size, but again, small sample size.. so you certainly cant write off his ability to carry, since we havent seen him do it much. Great lead blocker, good pass protector. Good out of the back field, can line up in the slot. And probably would be successful carrying the ball. Also ST leader and contributor. Pretty all-around FB imo. Wont cost too much to keep. Definitely worth while to me.

Perriman will have his best year, there is no reason not to expect it. Another reason why the Ravens do not need to go looking for a #1. Its do or die for Brashard, this is a reason that I think that Victor Cruz would be a good fit. Cruz is on the downhill end of his career and he is a different type of receiver than Perriman and Wallace. Great in the slot, good hands, quick cuts and can work the field. If the Ravens can get Cruz for around 4-5mil and that is a nice price to fit in with Wallace, Perriman, Moore, Campinaro, + a couple of young prospects.

I would be happy if he stayed healthy for the entire season, even if he can only run go routs!

My opinion? No on Jefferson, no on Cruz, and no on overspending to keep Wagner. The draft is deep with talented safeties, and if we decide to spend money on FA's there are more pressing positions to spend cash on than safety. While Cruz could be an interesting fit, his health issues are a huge red flag. We need dependable WR's, not someone who may or may not be able to give us a consistent presence on the field. And while I appreciate what Wagner brings to the table, I don't consider him as a top tier tackle, which it seems like him and his agent expect to be paid as. The Raven's need to spend their money wisely, and overpaying Wagner wouldn't be very smart. If we overpay anyone, give it to Williams, although I really don't see that happening either considering that we have a lot of talent at his position.

Yes, the coach called a play to get sacked....twice by the way if getting 2 first downs in an entire 4th quarter and part of the 3rd is moving the chains to you then cool, you are correct. 2 first downs........

IDK, this is a weak FA class and there are teams with just incredible amounts of Cap dollars to burn. Those two factors, IMO, make it harder to get players to accept paycuts. Not to mention, we aren't the playoffs every year Ravens of 2008-2012 that players might want to stick around for. Plus, as Jacket said, paycuts alone aren't going to create that much Cap space. They most certainly are going to need to release some of those players. Lastly, dead money is what it is. It's not as scary or terrible as it's made out to be and is a natural part of most team's salary cap. Yes, the year with Ray Rice's ~$10M in dead money was bad, but that was an extreme circumstance. The dead money from most of the guys mentioned is a sunk cost - it's going to either be part of their Cap number or will be dead money if they are released. Again, it's going to be there one way or another (just different columns, so to speak). So, the real question with most of these decisions isn't about the dead money, it's the Cap savings. If the Cap savings is enough, the team isn't concerned about the resulting dead money.

Keep in mind also that Wallace is due just $5.75M next season. A 1,000 yard receiver returning as the defacto #1 WR on the roster and we're going to ask him to take a paycut from a very reasonable amount due? If I'm Wallace or his agent, there's no chance in the World I take a paycut, and I might even be asking for a raise.

I didn't realize it became a big ordeal.... I just took what you said as in there is no reason to worry at all about other qbs in our division like we have Tom Brady and his competition. Your positive outlook is encouraging.

I don't know if your being serious or not. McCown has torched us for 450 yards, Ben has thrown for 6 TDs on us, Dalton has picked us apart before. If Tyrod went to the Browns, he could do some damage there, they have good weapons and have 2 first round picks. This mentality of bashing the Browns is a little out of order considering how tough they play us. Werent they beating us 21-0 at halftime this year or something... We may not fear a QB, but I bet you we respect them

Brandon Williams is no Haloti Ngata. He's too one dimensional - more a Kelly Gregg type player than a Haloti type player. We can't afford to pay too much for him or we'll end up losing talent elsewhere where big money is needed for retaining and acquiring stars.
  40. 1 point
If we have to franchise tag Brandon Williams then we are clearly in much worse shape decision making wise than I thought and believed previously. In fact if we pay Williams more than 7-8 M a year then the same conclusion holds true.
  41. 1 point
Pretty sure we do that. How do you think you manage to have a defense like we did with obvious talent deficiencies at multiple levels? Its like complaining about our secondary playing too much zone. Show me the corners on this team (outside of Jimmy) that are able to consistently win in man coverage schemes? I was talking more offense but hey thanks for letting me know we are defensive team

Having boyle and gillmore on first and second down with Williams mixed in looks good to me. pitta and waller on 3rd and redzone is tough to beat. sorry Watson is gone. would of loved to see him play for us last year.
  43. 1 point
lets not forget, Perriman has yet to have a training camp. THATS where you really learn a lot about how to be a player. Lets give him at least a chance to get thru a training camp before we label him a bust.
  44. 1 point
I agree with you, but the issue with Wallace is that he really has no reason to lower his cap number. I'd love to keep Mike's speed in this offense but I think the writing is on the wall with the plans for Perriman to be at the top of the WR corp and if a guy like Britt, Marshall or even Woods they'll certainly be brought in to start. So can Wallace handle not being a huge part of the offense? He was targeted 116 times last year, so can he handle a role similar to what Aiken was asked to do. Go from a starter who produced 1,000 to a backup? But then on the other hand you make a great point about Marty having his imprint on the offense more. How will Wallace perform in his playbook? I thought Wallace had one of the best season's of his career last year and think it he'll have a role with this offense if he chooses to stay. I just think that role is as a speed demon to take the top off defense or take advantage of off coverage underneath, not a #2 type. I think when we hear the Ravens say they want a compliment WR, I think they mean someone who compliments Perriman's style of play.
  45. 1 point
We need to feed the kid and we need our OC to get creative in getting the ball in his hands. Use more screens. Use more bunch formations. Get creative with route running to get him in space. His hands look lack luster at times, but by no means are they bad. It's concentration, but the only way to improve that is during camp and game experience. Bottom line, his speed and build is too valuable not to be utilized. I think he explodes onto the scene this year.
  46. 1 point
When a team drafts a player with their #1 pick they are confident they picked a playmaker......they usually don't "Hope" he becomes one.

I think we all wish our coaching WAS mediocre in terms of wide receivers.
  48. 1 point
Yes. The Ravens aren't the be all, end all of football teams to play for. Having a great organizational structure and culture probably isn't worth $1M a year to a person who's career will likely be over by the time he is 35.
